Thank you for your input, corollas under good working condition (as i have initially considered it) and not repackaged are not within reach as i am not looking to up my budget at this point in time.

I respect the fact that it has a great fuel economy but relatively high price which will command a great resale value at the end of the day.

A great corolla within my budget will definitely fly as i want to be realistic with pricing just for peace of mind.

Please o, I currently drive a Camry 08 but I want to upgrade.

Now my confusion is which of these Toyota to go for. Camry 2012 -2013 or Highlander 2008 - 2011. I have outlined these due to the amount as I see that both have almost same cost and what I can afford. Toyota is my goto due to easy of maintenance and resale value.

You can’t go wrong with any of them. They’re both solid ride although I’ll advise you go for the highlander if you commute in rough terrains. If you also drive a 4 cylinder Camry now you would be spending a bit more on fuel if you get the v6 highlander ( not to much though ). That said, I actually have a 2012 SE for sale and it’s a direct deal, check my handle to consider it also sir, thank you

Hi good evening, just to add to what the privious poster wrote
- 2003/2005 Lexus Es300/330- it’s a v6 but also not as economical on fuel has the vehicles above . Solid drivetrain though
- Honda Civic 2006/2008- a very good alternative to a corolla, nice cockpit and economical.
- Toyota matrix 2003-2006 - shares most component with a corolla of the same model year. Quite spacious.
Things to look out for
- make sure to go with a mechanic who can inspect engine and gear conditions. Check for engine smoke on start up ( mind you a vehicle would normally steam on first initial start up especially during colder climates)
- listen for engine noise ( ticking/ knocks ) at various rpms
- vehicle should be driven to make sure transmission selects fine
- check undercarriage for rust
- check through oil filler cap for intense sludge
- check vin to see vehicle has not been flooded before
- get a scanner that can scan at least engine, transmission and ABS module
- get a car with a good body too

Planning to buy a toks actually, I dont want to enter nigerian used car wahala

Just make sure you have good technicians to do maintenance on the car. It’s a solid ride if well taken care off, I’d advise getting the 010 facelift though there have been issues with transmission flares on older ones. Incase you do need a good One you can also reach out to me and I’ll do well to get you a pristine unit
