janeedema: Those quoting that the Church should obey all of the government's instruction against it, because the Bible says so, are grossly misinformed.
The Bible also states to give to God what is God's and to Caesar what is Caesar's.
The monies we give as donation and offerings have already been taxed for Christ's sakes.
What's the government doing with all the monies in their coffers? Except bagging the poverty headquarters of the world, with huge debts on its neck.
The Church was the primary means of livelihood for most homes during this pandemic, whilst the government orchestrated plans to siphon funds that could have made the lives of the masses better.
How much more money does the government need? VAT increased with no increment in salary amidst the aggravated hardship.
Take it or leave it: the Church is the most functional entity in Nigeria. Their employees are paid on time, and you hardly hear of a church that has gone bankrupt.
This should tell the state something:
In the Bible, the Prophet Daniel of old upheld God's Word and was ready to burn in the stakes instead of obeying a government's injunction.
So, daring the audacity of the government by Papa Oyedepo wouldn't be anything strange-- for the state is overstepping its boundaries.
If these mega churches had squandered the monies received by members, the government will have nothing to be eyeing.
Lazy government. Kindly go and take a long sleep for on this one, you have failed.
Lauretta and co, should go and imbibe the ways of the Church and be wise, for a progressive Nigeria. Envying affluent men of God is completely unnecessary.
If it's easy to get people to be gullible, everyone would have a thriving church.
Nevertheless, I believe that until the church rises up as one and speak with one voice, the state may keep advancing.
I truly wish we had more Christians like Papa Oyedepo and Pst. Chris-- with audacity.
When the state started dictating how services should be run all in the name of COVID19, I knew there would be more stringent rules coming, as they have been tasting their might.
Christianity isn't "zombiesm". No! It's not.
If you're a Christian and you're applauding this move, I am truly sorry for you.
Know this: persecuting God's church is tantamount to persecuting Christ, and there is the warfare dimension of the God we worship.
GamalNasser: RIP sir ...He never got to see a working Nigeria ...The more you keep supporting bad leaders like Buhari the Lesser your chances of seeing a working NIGERIA ...Yes Zombies I am talking to y'all
othermen: What is the point of attacking Reno in the first place?
That we had it worse during Jonathan's time?
All we want is simply good governance and we are satisfied with our temporary heroes.
Femi Adesina, Reuben Abati, were one time heroes. But today, Femi is the champion of oppressors and incompetence just like Abati was and Sowore may be.
Reno at the moment is not the enemy. Aisha should know this. And it wasn't Reno that sold Buhari to us, neither was it Aisha or Soyinka or the late Adesanmi...
It was the incompetence of Jonathan or the exaggeration of it that made us choose someone we had thrice reject. And yh, during Jonathan's time, the whole nation was incited, Aisha could protest, Madam Oby could march, Professor Wole could join and Sowore could exercise their right and demand for good governance and security and sometimes ridiculous demands like the fuel subsidy removal protest, that Buhari later called inevitable and our only salvation. But Again, all of these people are merely having their times- with say the exception of Baba Soyinka. When your kinsman is in Aso Rock, calling attention to the massacre in nearby Apo or Kaduna is defacing the govt.
So let Reno have his time, we need his voice especially in this administration filled with bloodbath from extremist and sometimes state apparatus. We need all of the voices we can, from Sowore to Reno to Aisha. And the bantering shouldn't be between themselves- the strength should be reserved for the average Nigerians, for the widows in Kaduna, for the displaced in Bauchi or Borno, for the soldiers been sacrificed by their incompetent administrators and superiors, for Lance Corporal Martin, for Leah Sharibu and many others like her... towards our elected and non elected leaders and representatives.
Kissiemu: All na politics...Fear politicians. This might have been arranged to make it seem like the governor cares. I am not saying it's the case here but politicians all over the world are the same. They play to the gallery alot.
POINT of CORRECTION Politicians all over the world are NOT the same.
TreasureTayo: This man is just so Stupid and I wonder if he thinks before he makes comments like this! A country that recruits terrorist into the Military and arrest peaceful protesters Very stupid words from him
*Covid-19 has exposed real enemies of Private Schools owners and their teachers* Our enemies are: Parents Government Public schools,
Prior to the covid-19 pandemic; private school owners labour hard to ensure that Nigeria children are given qualitative education, better than what the federal or state government can offer. In spite of our effort, we have little or nothing to show for our relentless efforts. Consider the following input by private school owners: ➡️ We render qualitative education to Nigeria children to reduce illiteracy in the land. ➡️ We help to reduce unemployment in the society by employing teaching and non teaching staff, thereby reducing crime rate in the society. ➡️ We add immensely to the internal generated revenue of the government. ➡️ We are assessable to the parents more than the public schools. ➡️ We bring education to the door steps of parents, as government cannot build schools in every street. ➡️ We render community services in other to develop Nigerian communities. ➡️ In most cases we offer credit facilities to parents. Just to mention but few of our commitments. *What is our reward for the above services during this corona era* Parents not willing to pay for services rendered by private schools. public school teachers' reward is on earth while our own teachers' reward is in heaven. No parent or government found it necessary to give palliatives to our teachers. While we are crying for financial help, government still want us to do ritual money to pay taxes and levies, what a world. Ban was lifted on all institution but not on educational institutions, which private school owners/ teachers suffer the consequences. Public schools absorbing school fees defaulting pupils/students at the expense of private schools.
*Post covid-19 era* My advice to my colleagues Find an alternative business to support your school business. Parents are not worth dying for. Do not give credit to parents who are not credit worthy. School fees are meant to be paid at the beginning of every term. "No school fees, no entry should be our slogan" after covid-19. Do not allow parents to dictate what you charge as school fees. Know what you worth, as low school fees belittles school owners. No school owner wishes His/her school to remain unapproved, but meagre school fees will always remain an hindrance to school approval.
ogododo: The Progressive Yoruba Youths, a civil society group, has condemned a statement credited to the Alliance for Surviving COVID-19 and Beyond (ASCAB), suggesting that the federal Government has shown lack of capacity to deal with the violence in the North.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, is the Chairman of the ASCAB, which was launched ahead of May 1.
ASCAB had claimed that authorities in Nigeria had failed to link the spread of the pandemic to failure of an effective public health system, the absence of social security and health insurance for the masses, while governments had no preference for provision of the essentials of life like housing and food security.
Reacting to the development, the Yoruba group said Falana’s comment was discouraging and does not speak well of a man who claims to be a pro-Nigerian.
The Progressive Yoruba Youths, in a statement by its President, Kola Salau, therefore, asked Femi Falana to put his acts together and face his legal practice, rather than being the jack of all trades, and the master of none.
The statement added, “The Progressive Yoruba Youths is aware that Femi Falana is as ignoble as the group he presides over, and it is naturally expected that Nigeria should view any statement signed by Femi Falana with a pinch of salt.
“It is no longer news that his stock in trade is to seek attention by issuing press statements that are in most cases, a gimmick to curry patronage from clients.
“The Progressive Yoruba Youths wishes to inform members of the general public that Femi Falana speaks from both sides of his mouth and in most instances, his ultimate goal is for the attainment of his monetary gains.
NEWS: Alleged $1.29m, N46m laundering: EFCC arraigns Renoccon Properties MD, Morakinyo “We also wish to state that if the above is not the case, there is no moral justification for Femi Falana to attempt to discredit the efforts of the federal government in addressing the security issues in Northern Nigeria, when the same Femi Falana has been rendering legal services to militant groups in Northern Nigeria such as the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
“The pecuniary gains attained by Femi Falana for representing IMN in court are indeed a lucrative one such that his sense of reasoning was blinded when he described the proscription of IMN as immoral and illegal.
“The Progressive Yoruba Youths wishes to advise members of the general public to be cautious whenever Femi Falana contributes to issues of national concern as most times it is not in the best interest of the country.
“The Progressive Yoruba Youths wishes to use this medium to caution Femi Falana to be guided with his utterances and desist from playing the devil’s advocate in this critical point of our existence.
“It is expected that at this stage, Femi Falana must display decorum in his conduct and postulations of government policies and other areas of national concern. This is also not the time to play to the gallery.”
