The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Youth Task Force on COVID-19 has again advised President Muhammadu Buhari to lockdown Nigeria due to rising cases on coronavirus.

Itsey Sagay, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), in his suggestion, said Nigeria should be locked for two months.

Officials of the Buhari administration have also decried the level of compliance by citizens since the lockdown ease.

On Thursday, the Progressive Students Movement (PSM) joined calls to the federal government to impose a fresh ‘stay at home’ order.

PSM President, Bestman Okereafor, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Okereafor expressed concern about facilities, equipment and health workers preparedness in states.

“The Federal Government, as a matter of urgency, should declare a state of emergency in states with high level of confirmed COVID-19 cases basically to reduce the spread of the pandemic.

“The state of emergency should come on these states through strict enforcement of lockdown for at least two weeks.

“This move had become imperative following the increase in inter-state movement especially at night hours notwithstanding the present night curfew imposed by the Federal Government meant to ensure containment of the pandemic,’’ he said.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country has recorded confirmed cases to 3,145; death toll has passed 100.

The Government should use Abacha's so called assets to bail out the economy of Nigeria, fancy ambitious projects which are avenues to loot billions of naira are not needed at these unprecedented times.

PDP, the corrupt elites in power for 16 long years, they were in power between 2002-2012 during the oil boom when oil was going for at least 100 dollars a barrel and at most 160 dollars a barrel. What did PDP do with the monies? Did they save for a rainy day? Did they save the monies in a Sovereign Trust Fund to accrue interest for Nigeria? Did they diversify the economy? Did PDP invest the loot they recovered from Abacha into Nigeria? NO to all the questions. Instead PDP looted this country into the deep, dark ages. We will not cry crocodile tears for you PDP .

Oga, they are not the same. PDP has no quintessential politicians like; Buhari, Tinubu, Ogbonnaya Onu, Oshomole, Osibanjo, El Rufai, Nwajiuba, Ngige, Pat Utomi, Prof Zulum etc.

What they have are the likes of FFK, Fayose, Theordo Orji, Okezie Ikpeazu, Mbadinuju, Ortom, Makinde, Akala, Igbinedo, Tony Anini, Asari Dokubo, Ibori etc.

Another difference is that, PDP ruled for 16 years and deprived the country basic infrastructure through corruption. But in about 5 years of APC, the government is building railways, Airports, Federal roads that cut across 36 States of the federation, Second Niger Bridge, Ogoni oil spill clean up, Agriculture is now taking a good shape, fertilizer plants are now fully working. And so many areas you can't compare or simply say they are the same.
