tit:IBB that passed his own exams was the best ruler Nigeria ever had. IBB's achievements below: Nigeria became developed, Naira appreciated, $12 Billion Gulf War proceeds were saved in the SWF, Political assassinations and Letter Bombs stopped and finally IBB handed over peacefully to MKO Abiola on June 12, 1993. |

One of the World’s foremost economists, Professor George Ayittey has lashed out at the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ), describing him as “a joke” and a mediocre President after his (GEJ’s) encounter with the media last night. According to Professor Ayittey, Nigeria “deserves a better leader”, judging by GEJ’s poor, almost unfortunate responses to some of the questions posed to him by the Nigerian media last night. The Professor indicated that GEJ’s refusal to declare his assets and his failure to tackle the Boko Haram crisis suggest that he is of an unsound mind. He therefore called on Nigerians to rid themselves of GEJ as soon as possible. He said: “Nigerians should not put up with such mediocrity and should mount a RECALL GEJ campaign. They should check Chapter VI of their Constitution. See Sections 143 and 144 about removing the President and Vice-President from office other than through elections”. “137; 1c: “A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if under the law in any part of Nigeria, he is adjudged to be a lunatic or otherwise declared to be of unsound mind.” Professor Ayittey, a Ghanaian economist, author, president of the Free Africa Foundation in Washington DC, professor at American University, and an associate scholar at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, made this known on twitter this morning. Read the entire tweet below: Professor George Ayittey “Look, this GEJ guy is a joke – a meretricious mediocrity. Nigerians deserve a better leader. Fancy his statements and responses to questions in a media chat on June 24, 2012: • He has not visited Borno state, the center of Boko Haram attacks, because the airport there was not functional at the time he planned to visit. “And we did not want to land somewhere and fly in to Maiduguri with a helicopter for obvious reasons.” [Why is the airport not functioning? Why hasn’t it been fixed? And are there no ROADS into Borno State?] • Asked why he had not declared his assets, Mr. Jonathan replied in an impatient tone, stating “I don’t give a damn” about declaration of assets. He related that he had gone to the late President Umaru Yar’Adua to caution “that we should not play to the hands of some people [by openly declaring their assets].” Mr. Jonathan added, “That is a matter of principle and I am not going to declare. It is not the president declaring his asset that will end Boko Haram.” • The president said it’s a matter of principle and whether he is criticised from “head to toe” he will not declare his assets. “It is not right,” he said. “I didn’t want even want to declare my assets as VP” but was forced by the then president, Umara Musa Yar’Adua. He said asset declaration is “not the right thing to do.” [Damn it, it is a constitutional requirement to declare your assets, Mr. President. See Chapter VI, Part 1, Section 140 of Nigeria’s Constitution: “Declaration of assets and liabilities, oaths of President.” And what the hell has Boko Haram got to do with declaration of assets?] • Agriculture: The president said his government is revolutionizing agriculture in Nigeria.”We are giving cotton seeds free in the North” he said. [This is the most crass definition of an “agricultural revolution” – by providing free seeds.] • The President said the government is doing very well in railway construction. “You may not know, but we are working,” he said. He added that his government has made a “significant progress” in railway construction. “You should commend us,” he adds. [What “significant progress” has been made in railway construction? How many Nigerians are working on railway construction with the contract given to Chinese firms?] • UNILAG name change: The president said what he did, in terms of law, was correct. You change the name first, then send the bill to the National Assembly later, he argues. “What we did, was the normal procedure,” he said. [No, Mr. Presient, you had it backward. Before you change the name of University of Lagos (UNILAG), you consult with the university and the student body, which you did NOT do.] • Crude Oil Theft: “The stealing of crude oil is a Nigerian phenomenon,” the president said. He adds that it has gone cancerous. “We will stop it, but it is like allowing a cancerous cell to grow into a major tumor.” [Mr. President, theft of crude oil is a CRIME, not a “Nigerian phenomenon or a disease afflicting Nigerians. Describing it that way means you are CLUELESS about how to solve it.] Nigerians should not put up with such mediocrity and should mount a RECALL GEJ campaign. They should check Chapter VI of their Constitution. See Sections 143 and 144 about removing the President and Vice-President from office other than through elections. 137; 1c: “A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if under the law in any part of Nigeria, he is adjudged to be a lunatic or otherwise declared to be of unsound mind.” Link: http:///MSxUws ” Professor Ayittey holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon, an M.A. from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, and a Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba. He has taught at Wayne State College and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He held a National Fellowship at the Hoover Institution in 1988-89, and then joined The Heritage Foundation as a Bradley Resident Scholar. He founded The Free Africa Foundation in 1993, to serve as a catalyst for reform in Africa. In 2008 Dr. Ayittey was listed by Foreign Policy as one of the “Top 100 Public Intellectuals” who “are shaping the tenor of our time”. He lives in Lorton, Virginia. What do you make of his comments? Is Professor Ayittey justified in his criticism of GEJ? http://samuelobour.com/2012/06/25/media-chat-ghanaian-professor-blasts-goodluck-jonathan-says-this-guy-is-a-joke/

yehmi01:What makes you think Buhari is Warri and Kaduna Refineries were built when Buhari was the Federal Commissioner (now Minister) of Petroleum. Point us to one major achievement of GEJ in Bayelsa or Nigeria. Please do not lump Buhari with your clueless PDP rogues. |
means:Before that is grassroots campaigning and mobilization in the Christian areas and in Southern Nigeria. Because GMB's image is totally falsified in these areas. There's work to be done. |
see NTA and their pro PDP stance. they muted Amaechi when he started talking about corruption and missing $20Billion while they were interviewing him. |
donphilopus:Thats 9M Naira per vote so far.. 27M Naira draining right before our eyes. |

treasuremi1:looool ![]() Sam Nda-Isaiah is from Niger State as I recollect. |
First, kudos to El-Rufai for writing 'The Accidental Public Servant'. That book has started a new age of political book writing by 4th Republic political actors. El-Rufai's exposé is part of the reasons OBJ feels he needs to set the records straight. That said, OBJ has lied about his involvement in 'third term' in his three part memoir and how that led to the imposition of Yar'adua and GEJ on the Nigeria polity. Yar'adua was just OK for national leadership but sickness made him ineffective. OBJ is probably regretting what is going on under the impotent leadership of GEJ and is hoping that his book will lead to a landslide that will take out PDP and GEJ in 2015 through the ballot box. He also wants to cripple one of his arch-rivals, the corruptible 'Atiku Abubakar'. However, it may be gettig late for Baba Iyabo. He has to openly endorse a candidate (Buhari, anyone?), and campaign for him. Otherwise his sins against Nigeria (GEJ etc) will hunt him to his grave. I can't wait for my copy of OBJ's book. |
But GEJ will prefer to debate Flavour Nabania just like he did D'banj the last time. No debate is happening even if NTA gives him expo. |
argon500:Tambuwal still needs more training an testing. Let him go and perform as governor of Sokoto State first. We don't advise a repeat of Yar'adua/GEJ an unknown, untested and incompetent combination. By the way even if Buhari dies in power (God forbid), Fashola is capable of taking charge. |
Descartes:Scare mongering and fear peddling won't take away from the facts. Please respond to my earlier question: LRNZH: |
Descartes:Mention the (APC) party stalwarts that have voiced their opinions with links if you may. The only character of note that has opposed a so called 'Muslim/Muslim' ticket is OBJ --> http://www.punchng.com/news/obasanjo-replies-buhari-muslim-muslim-ticket-dangerous-for-nigeria/ And I do not respect OBJ's opinions much since the third term debacle. Third term undid all the achievments of his administration and foisted an unknown, untested and now proven to be incompetent Yar'adua/GEJ combination on us as we know it. His opinions should be critically queried. |
Descartes:Descartes! BH is blazing in the North. Niger Delta (former and current) militants are promising hell if GEJ doesn't stay past 2015 (irrespective of his gov't's performance or antecedents). a Muslim/Musim ticket which worked very well in 1993 is now dead on arrival (according to the likes of you). We shouldn't be focussing mainly on religious or tribal affiliations but individual's track record and potential to improve this country. We have not made a lot of progress as a country to put it mildly but sectarian thinking will not let us see the real issues. |
Descartes: kayoday:I saw that coming but it is the major disadvantage anyone will quote for a Buhari/Fashola ticket and that can be largely dispelled based on how they market the ticket. It is a lot better than if the major issue is 'they are corrupt or incompetent' etc. Me also thinks that Nigeria has never been more polarised along sectarian lines than this period. Who do we blame for this? Let us speculate a bit though Buhari - Pres Fashola - VP Amaechi - Campaign Director (and Senate President if APC wins) Oshiomole, Oby Ezekwesili, Rochas, El Rufai, Tambuwal, Fayemi, Sylva, Kwankwaso etc- integral part of campaign team and Gov't if APC wins Tinubu, OBJ etc - Campaign supporters and elders This is not an Islamic combination if Buhari's team can market the strength of his team (not just mentioning Fashola but other integral members), share a comprehensive development plan for Nigeria, campaign intensively everywhere in the country and energise the base early enough. Me thinks APC is slow in trying to achieve this though. |
Descartes:Ogini? How? |
baLLoTBOxX:But all the rumours about Tinubu and Fashola having opposing candidates to be anointed for Lagos APC 2015 guber aspirant may thwart such a sweet combination. Should Raji Fashola concede his interest in Lagos to improve his VP chances with APC? |
yuncka:Dt kind jinx. Na to change passport o... ![]() |
Just a Sunday afternoon musing on #NigeriaVotes2015. Buhari/Fashola combination will be the most exciting for voters that chose to vote based on personalities and track record. Reminds me of the excitement Nigerians had over MKO/Kingibe in 92/93 until June-12 cut it all short. Share your thoughts please. This is not an APC thread. |
In other news, Mikel is not on the bench. This guy's career is almost finished at this rate. |
The Master Criminal encouraging the Worst of the Inepts. |
This guy doesn't look like any key actor...business man financing and masterminding Boko Haram activities... Foul This is likely to be another of those stories they have been telling us that are all lies. |
^^^^^^ All these under $10 Billion US. |
one mopol: My friend cool down. you are getting too technical for your comprehension.Sanusi even claimed $12 Billion. 10.8 Billion is the figure put forward by Okonjo Iweala and Diezani. President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) has asked the Governor Central Bank of Nigeria Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (SLS) to resign his post for allegedly leaking a letter SLS wrote to GEJ stating that $49.8 Billion US was yet to be remitted by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into the nation coffers. After some reconciliation efforts by the Finance Ministry, CBN and NNPC, the unremitted money is now some figure between $12 Billion US and $10.9 Billion US. I had to wonder, what is the real value of $10 Billion US (note how I am being conservative and not going above $10 Billion). See for yourself: 1. King Abdulaziz International Airport - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (Cost: $7.2 Billion US) This is an aviation facility located 19 km to the north of Jeddah. Named after king Abdulaziz Al Saud and inaugurated in 1981, the airport is the busiest airport of Saudi Arabia and is third largest airport in the kingdom. https://www.flyaircairo.com/portals/1/Jeddah.jpg 2. Transport - $1.2bn Stadiums - $1.12bn Organising committee - $428m Broadcasting/ICT - $387m Ports of entry - $200m Security - $89m Legacy projects - $45m Telecommunications - $40m Arts and culture - $20m Training volunteers - $3m Total cost - $3.5bn https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2442/3670000086_2ffbc6a768_o.jpg 3. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) - Zurich, Switzerland (Cost $5.5 billion US) is the highest-energy particle collider ever made and is considered as "one of the great engineering milestones of mankind".[1] It was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) from 1998 to 2008, with the aim of allowing physicists to test the predictions of different theories of particle physics and high-energy physics, and particularly prove or disprove the existence of the theorized Higgs particle[2] and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetric theories.[3] The Higgs particle was confirmed by data from the LHC in 2013. The LHC is expected to address some of the unsolved questions of physics, advancing human understanding of physical laws. It contains seven detectors each designed for specific kinds of exploration. https://cdn.physorg.com/newman/gfx/news/hires/3-largehadronc.jpg 4. Mohammad Bin Zayed City - Abu Dhabi (Cost $7 Billion US) Mohammed Bin Zayed City is a fast progressing master planned neighborhood that is located on the driving distance of 20 min and 10 min between Central Business District and the airport respectively. It also has huge budget of $7 billion. It will consist of 349 residential towers, with sufficient public, commercial, retail and recreational facilities. The development has total area of 5 million square meters, which are properly landscaped possessing all infrastructure facilities. The community is well equipped with modern infrastructure facilities, landscaping and other community amenities. Upon completion, it will be capable to accommodate 85,000 people. https://static.panoramio.com/photos/large/673649.jpg 5. The Zuiderzee was originally a shallow bay in the North Sea. It was about 30 miles wide and reached 60 miles inland. Although it was a large bay it was only about 15 feet deep. Every time there was a storm, dikes failed and the land was flooded. 10. phreakabit: That does it . . . . I guess Saharareporters can no longer be considered a credible source! This is the internet. These records will remain for a very very long time. Igbos disclaiming Oduah's clear case of fraud (changing her info on Wikipedia, Aviation Ministry website, her personal website if she has nothing to hide) is reminiscent of how the civil war started i.e. selective execution of national leaders in the first republic. If your child is culpable, admonish and teach the child a lesson. There are genuinely sincere and qualified Igbos that can replace Stella Oduah. |
