Jisos! I cannot believe my eyes. People here are defending GEJ for not taking any action against NNPC that cannot account for 11Billion USD. Remember IBB is known as the father of corruption because he siphoned about 12Billion USD, the money from the oil windfall of the first Gulf War in 91/92. American currency doesn't devalue significantly over time like the Naira. Na wa for GEJ and some kind people. |
ROSSIKE: You can lie and twist Dangote's words and meaning all night all day, that's your business. Dangote is the LAST MAN TO EVER call Nigeria ''a joke''. What he meant was POSITIVE ie that the country's economy was growing exponentially even with power supply issues, showing its amazing potential to hit double digit growth. Dangote is on COMPLETELY OPPOSITE SIDES FROM YOU. Where you see negativity, he sees positive. Where you deride and disregard the nation's future, he is full of hope and assurance of the nation's bright future.Ok. I was busy making money and adding value to my immediate community while you are here ranting and misinterpreting Dangote. I think you'll make a bad teacher to say the least. I want to be economical with the facts about your state of mind because I'm busy. You're incorrigible and we know it. [Returns to making money and adding value] |
taharqa: Oh! Shut it. Watch d 2 Videos again. On the SR Video, d Chair of d Committee never shouted, was never aggressive; all those parts were doctored out by d SR crew. This was unlike d brief Channels. The whole purpose of that Vid was to present d Minister as d 'slaker' and d Chair as been professional. That was a complete negation of what transpired that dayWhat is the basis for your argument? None of the videos is the absolute complete version of what probably took place there just as everyone has stated. You can't cherry pick evidence. It's a failure of logic. |
Wether SR got genuine info from the college in Virginia or not, the claimed MBA by the Honorable Minister is under scrutiny. She has to clarify where she got the MBA from and there has to be proof of it. Otherwise she is a malignant tumour in GEJs gov't. This may be part of PDP downfall in 2015 but you know how the 'gods' make deaf the ears they want to exterminate. We don't want to believe SR but we want to believe NLM. SR at least we know and have known but seriously what is NLM before Oduah's certificate forgery case? |
Sincere 9gerian: Is that your best shot? Lol.. That was lame. Try another trick. You miss the point dude. I am not trying to take shots at you. You have no credibility anyway so it isn't worth the effort. Stay on topic. |
Sincere 9gerian: Lol...Trying to defend the indefensible. Anyway, I wish you goodluckInsincere 9gerian, I am unlike you who blindly supports along ethnic lines. Sorry. |
taharqa: You now have both Videos. Did SR remove parts of d complete Vid to make it look like NOI was d Aggressor here or not? Did they present d very uncultured and rude way the Chair of d Committee talked to NOI or did they remove most of those parts? Did SR manipulate their own video to push an agenda and make an individual look bad....PS: this Channels FULL Vid was what elicited d angry reaction towards d Childish behaviour of d Chair by very many Nigerians including Dr Ezekwelize. I remember saying matter-of-factly, that d Chair of d Committee wud not be able to be a Research Assistant to NOI in d real world but for politics...IMHO, I cannot defend SR antecedents but I have this to say: Hon Minister NOI opened with the statement that she is ill and would need the support of her junior colleagues to give a comprehensive explanation on the state of the economy. The House Finance Committee Chairman empathised by allowing her to go back with 50 questions to be responded to in writing, after which she can show up in person to defend her answers whenever she is feeling well enough. He insistence led to the hot verbal exchanges. He (Jubrin) has to show he is in control of proceedings otherwise everything would spiral out of control. Maybe someone else would be more sympathetic with her but I cannot fault him. Just my opinion. Both videos ommitted different parts of the exchange. You have to watch both to get a clearer picture. By that standard, both are 'doctored' which is the price paid for video editing. |
LRNZH: Would you be kind enough to provide a link to the 'non-doctored' Channels TV version of the video? I'm sure a lot of folks would love to see it.Never mind I've found the Channels version of the video. [flash=425,344] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r3QAvoRyR8[/flash] She was not ministerial at all. She was begging and shouting at the same time. |
taharqa: Exposed by who exactly? Are you IJIOTS sick or what? Watch d Video by Channels TV and the manipulated one by SR, and tell me which one is 'fuller' and a truer reflection of what happened that day in d hearing.Would you be kind enough to provide a link to the 'non-doctored' Channels TV version of the video? I'm sure a lot of folks would love to see it. Thanks in advance. |
naijaking1: You know Kwankwaso, Amechi. Tambuwal and other never do good s are also in PDPAt least Abdulmumin Jubrin has not ported like the others. He is still PDP. The last time I checked Kwankwaso and Amaechi are now members of APC and not PDP. |
naijaking1: The anti - GEJ axis of evil is not playing fair as usual. Sincere 9gerian: No surprises. APC and their allies in the media have proved over and over again that they'r incurable liars and shameless propagandists. They represent everything that is EVIL.Abdulmumin Jubrin (Kano,Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Chairman House Committee on Finance) who was questioning her is a PDP House of Rep. member. He is in the same party with NOI. Avoid unnecessary name calling without doing some basic research. Her aide making the allegation could have done better by releasing a more complete footage if this video is indeed doctored. |
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has raised the alarm over an alleged doctored video of her last appearance before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance. A statement by her media aide, Mr Paul Nwabuikwu said the video, which had been uploaded by an online medium was substantially different from the one which was independently captured and broadcast by a popular private television, which many Nigerians have seen. According to the statement, the video uploaded by the online medium was edited to leave out important aspects with the clear intention to make the minister look like the aggressor during the appearance. Describing this portrayal as false, the statement pointed out that many aspects of the encounter, which captured the provocation of the Chair of the Committee were edited out to give a wrong impression. By Ndubuzor Francis of Thisday Newspaper (http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/okonjo-iweala-raises-alarm-over-alleged-doctored-video/168338/) This is the video in question (from Premium Times) courtesy of Sahara Reporters: [flash=425,344] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAsBLtIbcnA[/flash] [edit] For reference, this is Channels TV version of the Video (supposedly un-doctored): [flash=425,344] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r3QAvoRyR8[/flash] |
Fhemmmy: I am just shocked that they refused to read what was said, cos we never said Nigeria wont grow nor develop, only that those essential will make the growth even fasterYou know ROSSIKE is a blind nationalist. The type that would have made a very loyal Nazi foot soldier in Hitler's Germany if he were german in that era. The type Fela will call out as Zombie! He lacks the ability to reflect on realities around him and ponder if defending all about a country is worthwhile. He has a track record. ![]() |
ROSSIKE: Keep ''weeping for Nigeria'' while local and foreign investors are busy developing the economy. Sure, you know more about Nigeria than major local and international financial giants and think tanks. It is people like you, expecting a ready-made utopia, who cannot distinguish the road to perfection from perfection itself. ''Oh, we cannot develop without 24/hour power, excellent infrastructure and an end to corruption''..Yes you will have to, because development IS 24hr power, excellent infrastructure, and no corruption. You cannot point to the end of the road and say ''I can't get there because I'm not there already!'' scipher: nice response.. couldn't help but marvel at the level of ignorance exhibited by those 2..@ ROSSIKE, In the the article, Dangote, Africa's richest man is quoted as saying: "Can you imagine, can you believe, that this country has been growing at 7% with no power, with zero power? It's a joke" If Dangote thinks Nigeria is a joke for not generating useful amount of power, then who are you? These your investors that you imply will come and fix your country while you a Nigerian is not doing anything to help yourself. Is having 24hrs electricity (heck 18hrs sef) per day a miracle? And we are still flaring gas associated with producing our crude oil. You expect too little of yourself apparently. Please stop sugarcoating. We all realise the potential of Nigeria and but we are not taking advantage of that potential at the moment. I'd rather discuss, raise awareness about our problems and act than live in dreamland like ROSSIKE. @ SPHINCTER abi na SCIPHER, Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue. - Proverbs 17:28 |
Fellow Nigerians, This is not about Igbo, PDP or GEJ yet. We have lost focus of what integrity means to leadership. If Sahara Reporters has shown that her MBA certificate is questionable, let the Honorable Minister, Stella Oduah prove SR wrong. It doesn't help to post ambiguous claim like Bachelors and Masters from USA. Sahara Reporters is right until Stella shows us evidence to the contrary. Time to insult either SR or Oduah will surely come. Hold your tribal horses. |
Fhemmmy:Bros no worry e go better. Do you remember the parable of the unjust (but shrewd) servant in the Bible (Luke 16:1-13)? Worth a read even if you don't read the Bible. Wisdom is necessary to survive this world. |
Fhemmmy: That means they are not any better than the bad people too, cos they are coming to you and i to deceive us and them do otherwise once they are voted in.Sincerely with the poverty that abounds in Nigeria do you think the average man on the street can resist these gifts from politicians? I dare say no. Discouraging them to refuse the gifts won't convince them. Teach them to vote for the candidates of their choice, protect their votes but wisen up and collect those gifts. Wayo man die... Cunning man bury am |
Fhemmmy: So tell your friends and i will tell mine that when the politicians promise them a bag of rice in exchange for their vote, they should say NO. . .let everyone go to polling stations with their camera phones and records any fraud seen, let all INEC officials record any malpractices for the world to see, let us make the next election a true representation of what the people want . . And tell our brothers to stop voting based on tribe but based on "Who can get the job done" and i will tell my people too . . Enough is Enough!I'll tell them: collect the bags of rice, red oil, salt, 2000 naira from them politicians. Deceive them. Vote for the best candidate (I'm hoping it will be an APC candidate since we know PDP's candidate already). I will say chop their money but vote for Broom. Don't vote for Umblerra. |
Fhemmmy:I agree. I'll rate OBJ's performance as 60%. But our present situation is OBJ's legacy. Sincerely, Nigeria cannot afford another 4 years of GEJ's cluelessness / cordoning corruption (I rate GEJ 35%) if the MINT prediction is to happen in our live time. |
Fhemmmy: Well before GEJ someone else was there, and before that person was another, from the start till now, they have all been nothing but failure, so it is time for Nigerians to be educated about what it could have been, so we could vote with our head and not sell or votes in the name of he is Yoruba, she is Ibo and why would i vote for Hausa, let us vote for someone that MIGHT be able to get the job done, let the youth be involved, but them most youth of today knows nothing but the signs of money . . . So i weep for NigeriaSince 1999...It has been PDP. IMHO OBJ performed above average considering he inherited a country which had no democratic institutions. OBJ basically started from scratch and built something to be improved upon. Let's be fair: OBJ assembled the best economic team in recent history of Nigeria. His one and greatest failure was his third term agenda. It's failure led to Yar'adua and eventually GEJ (where we are today). PDP needs to be replaced just to prove that Nigerians can change out non-performers. I assure you that if APC gets in they'll want to show Nigerians why they're better than PDP and that is how competition leads to improvement in performance/governance. Rome wasn't built in a day hence we shouldn't lose all hope. This is the practical way to go about getting better leaders. I don't have a lot of hope with the National Confab. |
Fhemmmy: I honestly dont care what party is in power nor does it matter to me what region the person is from, and the gender is of no use to me, i just want someone that really have a vision and zeal to make that great nation be as great as she could be.I think a lot of Nigerians share your sentiment. The question is how do we get there? We know PDP will field GEJ come 2015. Is that what we want for Nigeria to make great strides going by PDP's antecedents since February 2010 when GEJ became president? |
^^^^^^^^ Yeah you're right about Switzerland being a very progressive country with low crime rates and economic success for nearly all of its population . But it is an outlier amongst ultra capitalist countries (ie. Germany, USA, China, India and Japan). Switzerland is not the norm. In contrast, Iceland is like all other Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Greenland) which are the most peaceful countries on earth and have a very high standard of living. My point is Nordic (or Social) Democracy works better than ultra-capitalism in creating peaceful, wealthy a d egalitarian societies. |
Fhemmmy: Write is down, until Nigeria has light and people can easily turn on the light and manufacture without diesel on hourly basis, whatever we experience will always be a shadow of what it could have been . . . Nigeria has all that is needed to be an economic giant but without light, good roads, health system and security, i am not sure we will be able to get there.True. With the way the Gov't of Nigeria is presently run, we will only achieve a shadow of our potentials. But there is hope. I prefer a presidential candisate from APC to win the 2015 elections so that incumbents stop taking Nigerians for granted. Such competition will make these corrupt leaders sit up. |
In 2001 the world began talking about the BRIC countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China - as potential powerhouses of the world economy. The term was coined by economist Jim O'Neill, who has now identified the "Mint" countries - Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey - as emerging economic giants. Here he explains why. So what is it about the so-called Mint countries that makes them so special? Why these four countries? A friend who has followed the Bric story noted sardonically that they are probably "fresher" than the Brics. What they really share beyond having a lot of people, is that at least for the next 20 years, they have really good "inner" demographics - they are all going to see a rise in the number of people eligible to work relative to those not working. This is the envy of many developed countries but also two of the Bric countries, China and Russia. So, if Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey get their act together, some of them could match Chinese-style double-digit rates between 2003 and 2008. In terms of wealth, Mexico and Turkey are at about the same level, earning annually about $10,000 (£6,100) per head. This compares with $3,500 (£2,100) per head in Indonesia and $1,500 (£900) per head in Nigeria, which is on a par with India. They are a bit behind Russia - $14,000 (£8,500) per head - and Brazil on $11,300 (£6,800), but still a bit ahead of China - $6,000 (£3,600). Wow this thread is a well crafted attempt to ridicule... (won't let the cat out of the bag). Kudos to OP and his team. For the first time I could profusely laugh and smile while reading a 'pro-GEJ' post/thread/article. Genius if you ask me. |
It is interesting how people defend appointing a SGF for Nigeria because the US for example has such a position. Fine. But why copy positions / systems from abroad but not the efficient administration of such systems. Our health care is no where near these countries we copy yet we do the needless. In an overbloated executive and legislative Gov't / civil service, SGF is another avenue to politicise health care and squander our resources (because of 2015). What are the health minister's and the permanent secretary's roles in the health ministry? If you ask me GEJ has no clue about administration and his advisers are either inept or bent on destroying his Gov't. |
MMotimo: Really funny letter but I feel his pain, especially after paying extra for premium seatingEspecially if he was polite to the hostesses who didn't bother to assist him. I have rarely (in fact never) seen a morbidly overweight person on a domestic Naija flight. Fingers crossed... |
justwise: You don't have to open another thread you have this hereYou know how Nairaland antispambot keeps deleting threads with links.... Anyway thanks mod. |
“Dear Jetstar, Do you like riddles? I do, that’s why I’m starting this letter with one. What weighs more than a Suzuki Swift, less than a Hummer and smells like the decaying anus of a deceased homeless man? No idea? How about, what measures food portions in kilograms and has the personal hygiene of a French prostitute? Still nothing? Right, one more try. What’s fat as Bleep, stinks like shit and should be forced to purchase two seats on a Jetstar flight? That’s right, it’s the man I sat next to under on my flight from Perth to Sydney yesterday. As I boarded the plane, I mentally high-fived myself for paying the additional $25 for an emergency seat. I was imagining all that extra room, when I was suddenly distracted by what appeared to be an infant hippopotamus located halfway down the aisle. As I got closer, I was relieved to see that it wasn’t a dangerous semi-aquatic African mammal, but a morbidly obese human being. However, this relief was short-lived when I realised that my seat was located somewhere underneath him. Soon after I managed to burrow into my seat, I caught what was to be the first of numerous fetid whiffs of body odour. His scent possessed hints of blue cheese and Mumbai slum, with nuances of sweaty flesh and human faeces sprayed with cologne – Eau No. Considering I was visibly under duress, I found it strange that none of the cabin crew offered me another seat. To be fair, it’s entirely possible that none of them actually saw me. Perhaps this photo will jog their memories. Pinned to my seat by a fleshy boulder, I started preparing for a 127 Hours-like escape. Thankfully though, the beast moved slightly to his left, which allowed me to stand up, walk to the back of the plane and politely ask the cabin crew to be seated elsewhere. I didn’t catch the names of the three flight attendants, but for the purpose of this letter, I’ll call them: Chatty 1, Chatty 2 and Giggly (I’ve given them all the same surname – Couldnotgiveashit). After my request, Chatty 1 and Chatty 2 continued their conversation, presumably about how shit they are at their jobs, and Giggly, well, she just giggled. I then asked if I could sit in one of the six vacant seats at the back of the aircraft, to whichGiggly responded, “hehehe, they’re for crew only, hehehe“. I think Giggly may be suffering from some form of mental impairment. I tried to relocate myself without the assistance of the Couldnotgiveashit triplets, but unfortunately everyone with a row to themselves was now lying down. It was then I realised that my fate was sealed. I made my way back to Jabba the Hutt and spent the remainder of the flight smothered in side-boob and cellulite, taking shallow breaths to avoid noxious gas poisoning. Just before landing, I revisited the back of the plane to use the toilet. You could imagine my surprise when I saw both “crew only” rows occupied by non-crew members. I can only assume Giggly let them sit there after she forgot who she was and why she’s flying on a big, shiny metal thing in the sky. Imagine going out for dinner and a movie, only to have your night ruined by a fat mess who eats half your meal then blocks 50% of the screen. Isn’t that exactly the same as having someone who can’t control their calorie intake occupying half your seat on a flight? Of course it is, so that’s why I’m demanding a full refund of my ticket, including the $25 for an emergency row seat. I’m also looking to be compensated for the physical pain and mental suffering caused by being enveloped in human blubber for four hours. My lower back is in agony and I had to type this letter one-handed as I’m yet to regain full use of my left side. If I don’t recover completely, I’ll have to say goodbye to my lifelong dream of becoming Air Guitar World Champion. If that occurs, you will pay. To discuss my generous compensation package, email me at: [Redacted], or tweet me at: @RichWisken No regards, Rich Wisken” Read full story here: http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2013/12/rich-wisken-writes-nasty-letter-jetstar-obese-passenger-sitting-next/ |
