Technology Market / Re: Repair Samsung TV Screen by Luak(m): 1:36pm On Oct 29, 2023
Wiseandtrue:
Is it really worth it?
I am really angry with Samsung right now.
So I got a Samsung TV as a gift. I was elated more so because that would be the first time I would be viewing a flat screen in my home.
I got the package overjoyed only to discover that the screen is broken during transportation.
You can imagine how I felt.
Then I remembered that I have seen their Customer Care Centre before somewhere in Ojota. I put on a smiling face.
MY JOURNEY TO SAMSUNG CUSTOMER CARE
I took it to Ikeja hoping to encounter some entrepreneur or company who would help to get it ready on time but alas I met a kind Igbo young man (accent) who advised me against it.
So my journey to Ojota was imminent.
AT THE SAMSUNG CUSTOMER CARE CENTRE
I got to their office everything organised professional wise. You will really feel that you are in save hands.
They checked everything to ensure that the fault is actually what I claimed it was.
So I asked what the price of fixing the screen. None of them was forthcoming. I was asked to pay the consultation Fee (non-refundable) which I did.
After they promised to get back to me just like that. They claim that they ship it from oversea and needs to know the current price . Okay it is still understandable.
AWAITING RESULT
Eventually a call came through from their office. A week after and I was told that the cost of replacing a brand new TV whose only fault is the screen is over forty thousand Naira (40,000)
Which is equivalent to the brand new one. Is it really worth it?
I will be grateful if I find help here also. Mine is a 43 inches Samsung plasma tv bought in Umuahia at 90k in 2015. In 2018 I paid 70k to repair a damaged screen at portharcourt service center. Now the tv has gone blind and I worried about going to Samsung service center a second time considering the cost.

Politics / Re: Businessman Gifts Abia INEC Returning Officer, Prof Oti Exotic Prado SUV by Luak(m): 4:55pm On Mar 23, 2023
Metrix147:
Reactions have continued to trail the declaration of ex-bank chief executive, Dr. Alex Otti as governor-elect of Abia State on Wednesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

This time, an excited citizen, Steven Ukpabi has surprised the INEC returning officer, Prof. Nnenna Oti who presided over the collation of votes from the March 18 governorship election in the state which produced Otti as governor-elect.

Ukpabi, a native of Ututu in Arochukwu local government area of Abia is based in Abuja.

He is the Founder and Director, Treebones Concept Nigeria Limited, and also the CEO Sungai Pacific Nigeria Limited.

He told ABN TV on Thursday that his decision to gift a land cruiser Prado SUV he had earlier ordered for himself is borne out of excitement and Prof. Oti's resilience to withstand inducement to alter the electoral outcome.

"I ordered that car for myself, but because of the excitement, I have decided to give it to the lady (Prof. Oti) because my car was stolen two weeks ago here in Abuja so I had to make that order for myself.

"As it stands now, I am going to pass that car to Prof. Nnenna Oti. I think she deserves it", he said.

Earlier he had announced his decision to gift Prof. Oti the car on his Facebook page.

He wrote, "For your outstanding service to the people of Abia, I hereby request for this Prado to be delivered to Mrs Nnenna Nnennaya Oti immediately it arrives Nigeria next month.

"Thank you for your service in Abia.”

ebukajay184:
Dr. Ify Aniebo Rhodes-Vivour, the wife of Labour Party's gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has reacted to a video of MC Oluomo telling Lagosians who will not vote for the Lagos State APC governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to sit at home on election day, IGBERETV reports.

In a video shared online, Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, head of the Lagos state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, was seen warning voters who intend to vote other parties not to do so.

He said: “Iya Chukwudi, if you know you no wan vote for us, siddon for your house o.”

He also told APC supporters that if they notice they are losing in polling units, they know what to do.

Reacting via her Twitter handle, Ify Aniebo Rhodes-Vivour claimed that MC Oluomo can confidentally threaten voters because he is “state backed.” She called on the Lagos State governor to call “his thugs” to order.

She shared a video of Oluomo threatening voters and wrote:

Crime / Re: I Got Into A Messy Fight This Morning Going For An Interview by Luak(m): 11:42am On Feb 11, 2023
Onedayoneday:
Based on tips, I had to attend an interview today. The information was that if I am shortlisted, I will start work latest first week of March. So I was very happy and ready to do anything to attend the interview.

As an applicant without a kobo, I had to kneel down begging a neighbour before he borrowed me 1k to enable me pay my way. The transport fare to and from was to gulp N400 or more.

My in and out was just the 1k. In fact, my feeding was also inside the 1k - everything. So it was a priceless 1k that every kobo was very important.

Early in the morning, I heard people arguimg over the deadline for new naira notes. People refused to collect the old naira notes.

So I boarded a bus with the N1000 note which I paid to the conductor. My transport fare was N100. When I came down, the conductor gave me new N500 note and two old N200 notes, making it N900. I refused to collect the old N200 notes. He insisted he didnt have new naira notes to change for me. Argument ensued as I refused to collect the old notes.

Like I said, that was the only money with me. So I didnt want to take any chances of collecting old notes that I will later not be able to use. So in the midst of the argument, he wanted to move and leave, I tried to stop him by gently holding his t-shirt. I didnt know his polo shirt was that soft. Unluckily for me, the polo got torn.

That was how war was declared. The conductor and the driver descended on me. They first targeted at tearing my shirt too despite showing remorsefulness over getting his shirt torn. Not once, not twice, they kept tearing my shirt till at some point, I put a resistance. Of course that couldn't be without a fight. I won't lie, those guys dealt with me. Two agbero hands descending on one non-agbero hand. Before people could intervene, they tore my shirt and a part of my trouser, gave me serious bruises, got me so dirty and stopped me from attending the interview.

I went back home like a mad man.

A very sad day for me.

May God help and bless me with a well-paid job.

The struggle continues!!!
I commend your courage in letting this out. Life's lessons come in various ways. Someday, you will look back and laugh if you are determined and focused

. No he didn't loose hope. I think it's fear of the unknown. America is great today because their fore fathers made sacrifices. To think he's from the south east makes me think it's a wake up call for southeasterners. The focus is on tomorrow. The hunger of today will keep us in perpetual bondage if we fail to confront it squarely. One of the outfalls of civilization is that more women are forcing their way for more power, more say and headship. Reducing the family into FG/ASUU relationship may not be the best. A wise woman should surround her husband/home with mentors so her husband can steer their ship successfully. Even God despised Lucifer when he started flouting God's instructions. A well guided husband is not likely to handout unreasonable instruction

Afodot0022:
My advice for you is that you should not cheat cos you will be the one at the loosing end. Your husband got nothing to loose and you will be blamed at the end even though he was the one that pushed you to that limits. Men are likely to be distracted at some stage of their life, thats when you need to understand him better that one day he will come back to his senses which am sure he would. Just pray for him and ensure you do things that makes you happy so that what he does wont bother you. I wish you goodluck in you home .
. I think these distractions maybe traps likely to draw a man backwards. Just like the woman is expected to be focused, men ought to be strong for their families and not give-in to 'distractions' especially at the formative years of their marriage

My father woke up this morning to start censuring me and my bro.

I ran out of the house yesterday to watch Chelsea match against Man City just to reduce depression. I woke up this morning and my father attacked me saying that we his children are not prayerful enough that is why we are still suffering.

He does not know when we pray or the intensity of our prayer but he made that statement.

He also asked me what I want to do with my life if it's to rewrite jamb or play football. I was very enthusiastic to play football but he couldn't even sponsor it. I used to be very intelligent but now I am an ignoramus in everything due to my poor education background.

Some guys I know that don't even go to church are progressing as their parents are catering for them but my situation is different.

The pressure is becoming too much and I am thinking of carrying out any diabolic act to raise funds. I haven't been into fraud or stealing but now I am anticipating to do it. Is it not better not be born than to come to this world to suffer
See, life is in stages and you will appreciate how easy it was for your father when you become one. I once felt same way but my father's response was to gift me a Bible. Initially, I didn't bother to use the bible until my friends and some teachers who new my parents reminded me I was heading for self destruction. A particular friend wondered if I haven't noticed my position in class results was becoming worse. I started staying out of class and started hanging out with bad boys just because I lost hope of getting to the university since my father could not pay my WAEC fees. We were eating corn chaff as eba morning and night. The soup was made from a particular leaf from the nearby bush we lived. My father said they used the leaf during the civil war. Help came my way when this beautiful girl came preaching to me and invited me to their fellowship. It was there that I realized the need for the bible my father gifted me and God showed up for me. I'm a practicing lawyer and people who new me back then express surprise when they see me. My full story has helped some young people who found themselves in similar situations.

Afodot0022:
Happy new year nairalanders. This year is favor for us all. I need advice o my people expecially from people that have been in the same scenario before.
I am having an issue in my marriage which is taking my peace this moment. My wife got a job at the correctional services of nigeria which is formally know as prison service as a warder like 2years now. At first i never wanted her to do the job cos i knew the job will be demanding and will cause friction at home but i decided to let her go for it just to keep her busy and also to get small support from her cos its not easy for me shouldering all expenses. After she got the job, i notice my wife changed in character and attitude and also in integrity, example like lieing and also having an i dont care attitude which she doesn't do when she was not working, well i thought maybe the little exposure she start having and people she is miggling with are those influencing her. I never take consideration of it. The job is so demanding that she works on shift, attimes afternoon and night shift and this has cause alot of issues but i decided to be an understanding husband and ignor, i supported her in chores of the house and also take care of our two kids when she is gone for work. My mom also stays with us making it easier for me to navigate and take care of the home while she is away at work. It happened that we had serious issue of infidelity from her last year that i saw her chatting with one of her old friend and notice they were having an emotional affair. I was angry when i found out and send her parking from the room we share together, honestly my intention was to send her away from the house cos i was furious and dissapointed that despite all have been doing for the family and also her she could pay me back in such manner, but because of pleading from my mom, i decided to let her move her stuff to the sitting room and we stop staying in the same room cos i needed space and also to heal from the heartbreak and dissapointment. During those time for like 4 months we had serious issue and living apart and doing things seperately, but still in the same flat, i only give her money for my kids feeding and also pay their school fee cos have already make up my mind to move on. During those period she went ahead to rent an apartment in the barracks where she work and never informed me . It was after she had paid for the apartment she told me and informed she will be leaving to her work station and reason is for her to reduce stress and also expenses. When she got the job then, it was so stressful for her cos the distance to kirikiri to where we stay is very far and also she spend all her salary on transport, attimes she uses the house upkeep money i gave for tfare when she is stranded. She doesnt have time for me nor the kids cos she will be so exhausted when she return back from work. So when we had misunderstanding, i think she saw it as an opportunity to move to barracks and also to reduce her stress and also expenses. But what annoyed me is she never carried me along when she was processing the apartment.
Now the misunderstanding has been settle by both family and have decided to forgive her and give her a second chance cos this was her first time misbehaving. She has always been a good wife from the start but dont know why she turned this way of late. Now the issue is that, i dont know what to do, initially i told her to resign the government job which she accepted to resign, irrespective of her not having any new job or business to fall back on if she resign. She will be at home idle and dependant on me. Not that this govt job she is doing is helping financially at home cos she entered the institution with SSCE cert and poorly paid that bfore the month end she is broke and spend all on tfare, but because its a govt job and also she can grow in it and also become big in it in future, I decided to let her continue the job but she still wants to go to the apartment that she rented cos it has start reading. What she suggested is she coming home every weekend to attend to the kids and return back afterwards. While she is gone back, it will be my mom and myself that she take care of the kids of 5 and 6 years and my mom is old and dont have strength for such stress. I dont think that will be easy for me as man cos i also work aswell and dont have that much time. My decision now is for her to take the kids with her to the barracks to stay with her and will also change their school, i will be going there when i have the time to check on them. I cant change our present location now cos the place is closer to my own work and the apartment is almost rent free reason why i decided to stay put cos its not easy with rent in lagos. The problem now is that if i allow them to go, at anytime, they might sent my wife to enugu for 6 month to do her mandatory course and there will be no choice, the kids will be back to me and will also start changing school again which is not good for the kids. The job has been like a curse to the family rather than a curse
Should my wife resign the job and get another job closer to home so she can have time for her family or i should let her go to the barracks alone or with my kids and will be visiting them once in a while even though i as a man i have needs aswell and dont know how that needs will be meant when she leaves. I am just in a dilemma now and need an advice expecially from married couples and those that have experience such or couples that live apart due to work or something else. Pls pardon my typo errors.

I will appreciate frontage from the mod for more inputs.
. Marriage is one of the most threatened institutions in recent times. About intermittently changing your kids school, it's advisable to not let your worry for the kids separate your wife from the kids especially now that they are tender. Let your wife go with the kids to the new apartment while you arrange for a better one outside the barracks but close to her office, so you can freely visit without interference. Every member of the family including the kids has a little price to pay which is temporary for a permanent good

Good day, fellas. Why do most married men eat in the canteen or restaurant? Is it that their wives can't cook nice meals? I'm a bachelor and i do eat in the canteen but surprisingly, i do see married men eat there. Although, the owner of the canteen is a good cook.
. I think it's difficult for a very busy husband to depend solely on wife's cooking or home-made meals. If you watch Joseph Benjamin's movies(married but living single & Mr & Mrs ), you will realize it is better to balance the situation by eating out occasionally. It helps the woman and family stay together on the long run

Family / Re: Why Do Some Married Men Cheat? by Luak(m): 5:07pm On Oct 16, 2022
amaboss:
It all started some years back when I was still in secondary school. My dad will pick my junior brother and I from school and on our way home, he'll pick this lady. This occurence took place more than once. I and my junior brother as at then thought then thought the lady was a co-worker or the wife to a close friend or something like that. Then my mom started getting suspicious after noticing the kind of attitude my dad started putting up. My elder brothers decided to check if my mom was just over reacting or if her suspicions were true; and lo, my dad was being promiscuous. We comfronted him a lot of times and he kept denying having a mistress. We brought a lot of evidence against him from text messages sent to a number and text messages received from that number, yet he denied them all. From then, he was careful, we never found any incriminating text message on his phone. Later on, my mom found a piece of paper with love messages written on in in my dad's own handwriting. With this, we comfronted him again and as usual, he denied it, and almooost denied his own handwriting. The following day, we invited our pastor over to the house and when we were asked to present the paper, it was missing. We asked him and he denied having knowledge of where the paper was.

After the paper incident, he started to deteriorate in his responsibilities as the head of the house and as the breadwinner, not that he was fully the breadwinner before then. God really blessed my mom with a good job and she was able to do the things my dad wasn't able to do and take care of us in a way my dad wasn't and won't be able to. So it was safe to say my mom was the breadwinner. His promiscuousness wasn't hidden anymore and it was now glaring to everyone. We all put him into prayers; prayers wasn't yielding much, advice, counselling, rebukes, and all manner were like a boring joke to him. He continued to fail in his duty as a father, as well as a husband.

Just recently, my mom was transfered. We were happy for her, at least it would save her the drama. With her gone, we received the full-dose of dad's behaviour. It was like living on your own completely. I took solace in school, at least it saved me from nursing a broken heart everyday. I never for once asked dad for more money for school fees but I saw why some students took much more money from their parents for school fees.

Then the question we'll ask ourselves is if a woman as beautiful as my mom and blessed with a good job with a comfortable position and paycheck, with every reason to go out and look for a better man to take care of her, can stay faithful to God and to her husband, is it so difficult for a man, whose achievements are not much compared to hers to stick to his wife and be a good husband and father?
Thank God you guys have a fall back. However, I have to remind you to continue working on him cos he might be your saviour tomorrow. He deserves some credit for marrying the kind of woman you now pride as a good mother

maureensylvia:
It happened in June this year, he deserted, tried calling him it was unreachable, His family and the police didn't help either.

I got the idea of complaining to his bank, I went to his bank on August (Access bank) they asked me why I didn't come all these while that he withdrew the last part of the money 4 days before I came!!! E pain me shaa o

The customer care directed me to court to get a court order to restrict the account, I went to court, got the court order(pics displayed) paid them 10% of the total money. The bank restricted his account.

Yesterday afternoon, I got a call to come over to the bank...the guy was trying to make a transfer but he couldn't which warranted him to go to the bank...
The customer care told me he has 80% of the money in his account that with my consent, they'll unfreeze it and pay me or I can wait till it's complete and take all... they were certain because it's a salary account... money must enter.

Though the guy pleaded with me to be paying 20k monthly buy omooorr I don't think I'll have such patience. The bank told him to be paying the 20k into his account till it completes.

so the ball is now in my court

All thanks to Access bank
