If he's below 18 you can file to adopt him as your ward. Note he must be below 18 years of age and must be done through the courts here in Nigeria.

tedpayne:
PLEASE ADVISE:

My spouse and I want to apply and travel with my 2 kids and nephew.
We are dependents, she’s the principal applicant.
My nephew has been living with me even before I got married.

His dad - my younger brother, had him with a lady while they were still very young and in school. The lady’s parents never wanted anything to do with my nephew solely because my brother was of a different religion. So I took him in and he’s been my responsibility since birth.

Fortunately, my wife has no issues with him living with us after marriage, so he’s been with us and we now have 2 kids of ours.

My brother is now married, although my nephew still lives with me because we had an agreement with his wife that we don’t mind mind and would keep taking care of him so they could ‘enjoy’ their marriage.

My nephew’s Mum is still single but not ready or willing to take custody of him.

My kids and my nephew are now so attached! They’ve done everything together and attended same schools. They see him as the first born - their big bro.

What do we need to reduce his chances of visa denial?
What do we need to do proactively for a seamless or fairly hitch-free application?

We intend to put in our visa applications soon.

Kindly help, gurus!

Burton-upon-Trent is in Staffordshire and they have stafford University, remember? You are right though, it's closest to Derby if poster wants a lovely quiet town life.
uulove:
Birmingham to Derby is still expensive. You want accommodation in Nottingham, Burton-on-trent or Tamworth. Burton-on-trent is affordable and will be easier to get as there are no universities over there.

I hope this helps.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 1:36pm On Jan 20, 2022
Nah. You would have to have exceeded the 15 working days and some more.
sweetoma:
Hello Luchi is it also a good idea to do this if your application has been over 10 working days and your course start date is close ?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 1:34pm On Jan 20, 2022
Since you re considering leaving in a different city I would suggest Leicester as it around 37 mins to Derby by train while Birmingham is around an hour. That is if you want to live in a city. However like the other person suggested, Burton on trent is quite closer, 15 mins and in located in Staffordshire.
You may want to look into getting a prepaid rail card. They charge you lesser for travelling which would be cheaper since you will be travelling intercity

MercyJJC:
Thank you so much.

Please how about Birmingham. Will it be sustainable?

Member of Parliament. What uni are you going?
sthorm:
Hi Luchi, I appreciate your response, please what do you mean by “MP”?
I plan taking both steps…
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 12:18pm On Jan 20, 2022
Try doing these.
Write to you the MP of the city or town were you school is located detailing your experiences and how many email you had sent and their responses. Your MP will take it up from there. Someone here did it and got their passport back.
Or
Write to your schools visa support team and let them help you email them also. Hope you get your passport back soon.

sthorm:
Hi guys, i need some help..
I did my biometrics over a month ago now (15th dec) and till now i’m still yet to get any feedback on my application, decision has been made over 2 weeks now but my application is still yet to move to VAC..
Each time i send a paid mail they keep posting me to wait 10 days, when the 10days was over, i mailed again and they still asked to wait till 21st January, i’m sure by 21st they would still post me again..

Please i need help, do i need to go to the embassy in Lagos? Will they let me in without an appointment?
I’ve been to TLS they only told me my passport isn’t ready..

Any suggestions is welcome

It really doesn't matter as long as you have a return ticket.

Vicxxy10:
Hello everyone,
For those that have gotten PTA recently, does the return ticket have to be from the same airline like a round trip please? I’m looking at the possibility of booking it separately to save money.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 12:13pm On Jan 20, 2022
They haven't made the transfer toyet because they have backlog and it hasn't gotten you your turn.once they initiate the transfer you get telex. Although mine took like 4 days. It depend on how much backlog they have to clear before it gets to your turn.

Dammyomo123:
I have called several times, same response of its still in processing. I was debited the total money

That is outright fallacy. If your school can issue CAS without POF just be happy because if you know what people go through to get CAS with the whole time wasting while their school vet POF before issuing CAS you will grab those offers. People have missed intake because of this.
Rhennykay:
Really?
I know a couple of schools that don’t request for pof before they issue CAS though! Just wanted to be sure of what am getting into. Plus am yet to accept their offer since I have other schools am waiting on their offer.
Thanks for the insight though, I’ll definitely be on the look out.

I will be honest with you, staying with families that isn't your father or brother or sister is hard. My bro schooled in London and lived with my moms youngest sister. They didn't have problems but it wasn't easy.
Don't expect to live in that house and don't pay any bills. It's the abroad and nothing is free. They may not tell you but it is your responsibility to pick up a bill and settle.
You don't need connection to get a job in the UK. Apply and ace your interview and you are good to go.
Finally If they are willing to accept you 1 year isn't so much to give up.

Totally wrong annectode. Mine is and I wasn't asked for POF.
CapitalCee:
Any school that did not demand for your statement run away from it. No UK higher institution with track record of compliance will issue you CAS with that
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 6:45am On Jan 20, 2022
It was 1500 deposit as at last year now its 3k. Before you could spread to six months now its changed

Mannymanny:
Please does Uni of Brighton accept HND??

Also, how much does University of Brighton demand as deposit? And how much do they pay on enrollment?
I couldn’t find that info on their site.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 9:05pm On Jan 19, 2022
I didn't use it though but If you already have it you should be able to see the rate. once you lUse the currency converter to see today's rate . My brother helped me pay with his card so I got a fair rate of 560 from him.
ShalewaT:
Mine is 1670 for IHS and 491 dollars for visa. That's 2,161 dollars. Bringing me to like 1.25 million at 575 naira per dollars. Will it be a bit cheaper if I use flutterwave? Cos I have it
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 8:48pm On Jan 19, 2022
Open a virtual dollar account with your bank and source for dollar and fund it yourself. Dollar is at 560plus. Or use flutterwave

Stevewonder:
Hello friends,
How are you guys doing ? Please enlighten me on how to pay my visa, biometric and IHS fees. I'm supposed to be paying 2162 USD in total. The naira equivalent is in my account. An agent actually want to help me pay but he claims dollar is 575 now. I believe he wants to cheat me. How do I pay it on my own ?
Thanks
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 8:45pm On Jan 19, 2022
Different schools, different initial deposit and payment plans. You would just have to research each school you are applying to

olabisi6438:
hello guys. Is it all schools in the UK that requires you to pay 50% tuition before you can travel or apply for visa. Or can you apply and travel after paying the 3500
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 8:42pm On Jan 19, 2022
Unfortunately there's no CBN rate. You would have to source dollar from the black market or use bater by flutterwave . I paid for 2 years IHS and visa at the total of 1,126m and I got a fever. Sorry.

ShalewaT:
Pls how do I pay for my ihs and visa fee using the cbn dollar rate? The black market rate is too costly.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 8:37pm On Jan 19, 2022
I would suggest medical or biomedical lab science. It's difficult to get a job as public health officer as an immigrant. Atleast that's my take. Have a look at the link.
If you are Looking at cities with job opportunities maybe you should ignore Sheffield. No offence to students there. grin Salford Coventry are bigger cities. Roehampton is in London so is middlesex
Biology sciences is on the shortage list and these courses are all under biology sciences.
She should try to get relevant job skills while studying even if it's non paid. It will help boost her CV and job prospects.

I suggest you apply to as many schools as possible. Some schools even allow you apply 2 to 3 courses. Goodluck

Lmao, oga counsellor, because if they noticed the money is below the required amount they will write him and ask him to explain abi?

RIZE554:
First, the Rules. Appendix C, paragraph 1A (ca)(ii) requires that

the funds will remain available [in your account, or your parent’s account, or as funding from your official financial sponsor] unless used to pay for course fees and living costs;

If you want to use the money for fees please go ahead don't be afraid of anything. If you have to justify it for any reason you keep the receipt of the sent fees and other evidence so that if for any reason or somehow they check your current balance (which I don't know how possible this is but who knows) you can defend it by presenting the receipt of what the money was used for.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 1:09pm On Jan 19, 2022
You should have paid before your biometrics appointment so your school can indicate that In your CAS. If you remove the money before your visa comes out and peradventure they run checks with your bank, how are they suppose to know it went toward your school fees when you've already applied ?
You've come this far, don't mess things up for yourself by yourself .

Olomojola:
Thanks, but the money was meant for fees ,if it's used for that purpose I'm just wondering why I should be a sin
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 10:10am On Jan 19, 2022
You should wait to get your visa before touching that money.
Olomojola:
Good morning all
Please will it be a problem if POF is broken to pay 50% balance of fees while still awaiting decison?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 10:06am On Jan 19, 2022
I just checked so be sure and it says you must pay the remaking upon enrolment . As at last year what you said was the norm. I know this because I applied for a course there but didn't accept the offer.
ShalewaT:
They do. I have to pay up to 50% of my tuition before enrollment and pay the remaining 50% by May 27

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 7:19am On Jan 19, 2022
Sunderland don't even have a payment plan. After your initial deposit of 3500k you must pay the rest on or before enrolment.
I really do hope he has the money on ground because it cant be funny trying to bargain with already laid down rules.

kennykale:
You get Senior Adviser ooo. Once you get to the Uk and your BRP is ready your school will notify you and you schedule for pick up. Simple. Which one is they won’t release it to you until you pay full tuition? Don’t you have a payment plan agreed with the school? If you Bleep up the school will only report you to UKVI and those ones will deal with you.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by LuchiBianca(f): 7:15am On Jan 19, 2022
Never heard of that. Are you supposed to make a deposit upon enrollment ? Without your BRP you can't do a lot things like getting an insurance number, opening a bank account, registering with your local gp, which are the first things you need to do when you get to the UK so I don't see why they wouldn't release it to. Anyways if you feel so and they told so... But it sounds like what Nigerian schools would do. grin

ShalewaT:
Someone advised that I don't use my school's address, cos they might not release the BRP to me until I pay my full tuition
