MrsF, don't tell me you are serious. Wait.. have u checked your account if its been debited? You need to do something about this. You need to visit the bank. As for the moneygram stuff, someone has to receive it for you there in the UK. Thats if you have anyone there but it might be slightly above CBN rate...slightly. If you have not been debited, i suggest u make use of another bank for the Form A.

If its slighty above CBN rate (something not more than 100k naira), i personally think its better than using formA which usually takes time and alot of stress like what MrsF is experiencing now .

Do you have idea of the CBN rate now?

Well for your first question, from a few information gotten from some people, I think you will be asked questions like why u chose your school, what course you are going for, what you intend doing with the course and the benefit when u r back and a few other stuffs. So u have to study somethings about your intended school and the course u intend studying. If possible check up ur course module as well. All the best.
For the second question,I will like to know the means you want to send the money to your brother. cc: Luggi007

Boss Fizzle, thanks for your reply and those points you gave, i will surely work on them.

Concerning sending money to my brother, i dont know how its gonna be done yet. He only told me when its time to send the money he will link me up with someone here in Nigeria. When the money gets to him over there, he will just go directly to the school and pay it in person on my behalf. Whch will save me time and all the troubles of form A.

I will inform when i have the full details of it.

If you or anybody knows or have anything to say about this stuff, its opened.

Many thanks to JustWise too for giving time to reponse to my post

Cheer to y'all.

Hi Justwise, Fizzle and other guys here.

Im to be interviewed through skpe on my English language proficiency by the school i applied to, has anyone done something like that before.

What are the likely questions and what should i be expecting?

Secondly, im planning to send money to my brother in uk to help me pay my deposit inthe school in person instead of using form A to save time. Is this OK?

Thanks.

Guys, for those of you going to the UK for studies September this year, please kindly indicate. I think its high time we knew ourselves. It could help in one way or the other. please indicate and state your location. Probably you could find someone going for the same programme or same destination. You never can tell how helpful it will be. Thanks.
N/B: As for me, am heading to Coventry

Nice one Fizzle.

Im heading to Teesside university in middlesbrough for a one year top-up course.

Is anyone going that way

1. Visit https://www.britishcouncil.org.ng/exam/ielts-uk-visa-immigration

2. Fee is 64K

3. The questions are the same.

4. You can take your bank draft to the British Council office in PH, on Olu Obasanjo Road, GRA Phase 2

5. I believe there is a specific centre in Ikoyi, Lagos. They will send you the address by email before the test.

6. 13 days after the test.

Thanks boss...You are on point.

To: Justwise, OlowoB and other gurus, and anybody that can help with any meaningful info. Please help me out.

I requested for a waiver on providing english language certificate (i.e IELTS) givng the school good reasons why i felt my english language level met the rerquire one. After series of mails, the school had aked me to send my WAECcertificate to them and they want to grant me SKYPE interview.

I want to ask what are the likely quetions that they might ask, how do i prepare for this interview, and what should i be expecting?

Has anyone done Skype interview before, he/she should share it, for others can learn.

Thanks to all.

Still wondering how some of ya'll got 7 and above in writing. I have written ielts twice now (my mistake, wrote the ordinary one first before i found out i needed to write one for UKVI) and i have only managed a 6.5 in the writing. The second one came out nice, 8.5 in both the reading and listening and 7.0 in the speaking. Anyways, Just tot i should add a few more tips.
1. ieltsbuddy.com is probably the best website for you. They will help you through everything. I suggest you head there first before practicing with the materials.
2. For the speaking test, apart from the tips on the ieltsbuddy website, Make sure you get there on time. You will meet other applicants so strike up a conversation with one of them. For someone like me who doesn't speak english always, i was able to sort of 'warm up'. When i got in, it was uphill from there.
3. For the Listening. You will only hear the recording once so please, don't think about that girl you straffed yesterday or that fine boy inside the bus on your way to the center. If you lose concentration just for a few seconds, you will find yourself a couple of answers short. It is pretty easy to get a 9.0 here.
4. For the reading, they have a lot of long ass piece for you to read. I am used to reading and enjoying center spreads of newspapers so it was nothing smiley smiley smiley. Try to enjoy the story/article. That is the best way to really understand it. The questions are also in the order the passage is written so the next answer is in the next paragraph and you don't have to remember where an answer is or start looking throughout the entire passage to answer the next question.
5 As for the writing, there are enough tips on the website and there are enough written examples towards the end of the materials posted on here (Go back to like the first couple of pages). If you are not dumb as i am, you should probably get something higher than i did.

IELTS has one golden rule though, Always read the instructions. See heh, failing to do that singular thing almost guarantees that you will pile 4.0s in all bands. Writing has minimum number of words to be written for both sections. Anything less than that and you are done. Reading and listening has the amount of words they are expecting for every answer. If the section says 'Only one Word' and you write more then one, sorry is your name oo.. If the instructions says not more than two words from the passage and you write something else. Bro, you are on your own.

I hope this helps sha. If you need anything else, Holla, If i can help, I will always help. Also if you are applying to study in a UK university, Please register for IELTS for UKVI instead oo.. It is more expensive and only online payment is accepted (last time i checked)

Thanks for sharing all this valuable infos with us. I also did the ordinary IELTS instead of the IELTS for UKVI. Pls i want you to help me out with the following questions;

1. Which site will i use to book for a seat and register for the IELTS for UKVI exam?

2. How much is the exam now presently?

3. Is the questions different (more difficult) than the ordinary IELTS?

4. Can i make payment here in PH without need to travell to lagos. How?

5. Is there any specific center/location for the exam in lagos or it could be anywhere?

6. How long will it take for the result to come out after the exam date?

7. Any other useful info will like to add is welcomed.

Your detailed and quick answers will be highly appreciated.

Buhari and Tinubu must do everything in their power to make sure this bill is shot down in the house of representatives. We cannot condone the alteration on existing law to suit the whims of a corrupt public official, because it has very grave implications for the future. I hope the forces of good in both the senate and house muster enough courage to uphold the president's expected veto. By the way it takes 2/3rds of the 109 senators to override a presidential veto. That means saraki and his criminal gang of senators need at least 73 votes (assuming all 109 senators attend plenary on the day the vote is taken), while in the house of representatives it will also take 2/3rd of the 360 representatives, making the number required for an override to be 240(assuming also all members are in attendance). I doubt if saraki can muscle up that number. But if he eventually does then id say we just make the crook our president.

Hmmm!!!! You are on point my bother, im beginning get angry with the softness and non-charlancy attitude of the preident to this issue of Saraki, his plots and foot soldiers in the senate. If the president continues like this, then im afraid the worst and the unexpected could happen....

Sure. No problem. 7.5 is easy to get I think, na the writing hard pass buh with enough practice, you should be able to. I didn't pay much attention to it as I was counting on the rest to boost the overall score and it did. Give me your email address and I will contact you. That way we can arrange something. I found the materials I used, complete with audio for listening test. Hope you are in Lagos sha.

Thanks bro. The writing is even the easiest for me, i got the highest band in it. Im in PH, but i believe that the distance should not be a barrier. Pls include your digits in mail.

Bro, sorry you wasted money for the IELTS. I did the same thing. I wrote an IELTS, th one that cost 40k. Total waste of money because it is not UKVI. From my own experience, the UKVI IELTS is just a way or extorting more money. There is no difference between the first one you did and the UKVI. Th experience I gained from the first one helped when I was writing the second one sha. I was more composed. What was the score of the first? You don't need different set of materials. If you passed well on the first one, you don't have to worry. If you need any help, I can point you in the rift direction of where to get materials that includes audio for the listening test. I ended up scoring the same thing sha buh my reading and listening test increased. Speaking went down by .5 and writing was the same.

Na wa o, i wasted 52k on the first one. As you said, the experience gained will be helpful when sitting for the UKVI IELTS. I scored 6.5 in overall but i need to do far better than that in the next one, im aiming at 7.5 in each component at least. Pls i indeed need help to get suitable materials that will help me get high band, especially in reading. I am even considering to register for a class. I will want us to talk to one on one if you dont mind. Thanks

The difference does not matter, you still have to take the exam in an approved centre. If I were you I will be looking for material to read for the exam and not worrying about the difference

I already got some materials i used when i sat for the first IELTS i did, i just want to know if the UKVI IELTS is more difficult in terms of questions set so i will know how to go about my preparation. I am considering registering for a class to suppliment my reading. What do you advise?

Hello Justwise and the rest of the house.

After the IELTS exam i did in PH center, my school is just notifying me that it is not UKVI approved and that they require UKVI approved IELTS taken in any UKVI IELTS centers. A link sent to me confirmed Lagos and Abuja as the UKVI IELTS centers.

Ps, i want to know the difference btw the exams (UKVI approved IELTS centers and others), and if the UKVI approved IELTS exam is difficult than the other one. And any other info you got about the UKVI approved IELTS exam that can be helpful.

I reside in PH.

Many thanks.

why don't you look for schools that don't need ielts?

and the good thing about uk schs you can apply to serval schs without application fee.

Most of these schs that request for ielts just want you to go through an agent and they will waive the ielts

The school gave me just exactly what i wanted ( one year topup in petroleum and gas) which most schools are not ready to give. And im dealing with the school directly without any agent.

Yea! I think its even preferable to go that side to do the english pre sessional for that price, if i can do exchange at bank rate than to do IELTS again here.

Don't waste your £1000, get your IELTS in Nigeria before applying for visa.

Asking you to pay £1000 for 2 months English language course is criminal.

To justwise and the team here;

I was given a conditional offer in a school in UK which requires IELTS. But unfortunately i did not meet up with the IELTS cut off, but the school is ready to offer me a 10 weeks english pre-sessional course to cover up for around 1k pound.

I want to know if i should go ahead with the pre-sessional course or to go and sit for another IELTS exam.

Personally, im thinking of going for the pre-sessional course because it will shortened my stay in Nigeria.

What do you think?

from when you typed till march 5 is more than enough time. Know your limitations and overcome em. see videos on YouTube, check ieltsliz.com, speak English frequently, and picture your exam day in your thoughts. on the exam day, the questions become so simple like you have been there before. don't stand still

Its OK then.

Will the site and the videos in the YouTube be enough to prepare till the 5th of march? if you have any other useful infos or materials be let me know.

I registered for the IELTS last week and chose 5th of march for the exams, even though i would have prefered 19th of march but it was cancelled cuz of the election in rivers state on that day.

But now i thinking that the 5th march will be too close to prepare so i made request to change the date to april 2nd, but i was told i will have to pay 25% of the exam fee which i cannot afford now.

Pls i want to ask you ppl if now till march 5th will be enough for me to prepare and make at least 7 in all the components? Or should i continue and shift the exam date forward.

And pls anybody that can help me with any useful information and materials to prepare should do help o.

And if their is anyobdy that have done the exam before or with anything help that resides in PH can pls connect with me.
