I actually find the Jewish version of the story far more plausible and logical. According to Jews Jesus was hanged for treason because he wanted to revolt against the Romans. Think about it, what was the betrayal by Judas? Kissing Jesus Christ is not betrayal, pointing him out is not betrayal unless they were secretly planning something criminal. Jesus was a popular well known man who did not need to be pointed out. Even a peasant widow could point him out.
