Power in Nigeria does not emanate from the people. It's a slogan the govt uses to paint themselves as "serving the people". Where do you exercise the so called power you mentioned? Elections Lmao. I'd have you know we have some supreme court governors in naija. All politicians do is cherry pick. Your vote doesn't count, it NEVER does!

You specifically mentioned 'health facilities'. Bring it up in your argument. No one cares when Nigeria shut down airports or the likes. The virus still got in and spread. You can't say our health facilities are the reason why there's low death rate. That's grossly inaccurate

My point is still flying over your head. Let me break it down.

The Covid-19 majorly affect the respiratory system and the cases that leads majorly to hospitalisation is when the infected can't breathe on their own.

These are my questions to you. If you can't breathe by yourself, won't you need ventilator to assist you?

Where can Ventilator be found? In your house or hospital?

If it is hospital, when there are more cases than ventilators, what will happen?

If you can't breathe on your own or have no access to ventilator, will you live or die?

If the cases become more than the ventilator, won't they start doing ration?

When they start doing ration, do you think we that are poor as church rat will be on the ration list?

Omo. Which kind talk be this one? How would anyone say the reason for low fatalities in naija is because health facilities is controlling the virus? Do you know the country you're talking about? It's Nigeria please. Health facilities that don't even have appropriate PPEs? Haba na. The reason for low fatalities is because the population of Nigeria is mainly youths. The elder are mostly at risk of death to COVID-19. Also, for some reasons, our immune system is better built for this virus. That's the ONLY reason we're experiencing low death rates. By your very much flawed analogy, our health care system is better than the U.S and other developed nations that are having thousands of deaths per day? Does that make sense to you?

*sigh*

Do you know that last year Nigeria shut down her airspace for 4 months but US didn't shut down their own. Do you know that Nigeria shut down her biggest cities for six weeks but US only shut down Newyork. Do you know it was because of the foolish endsars protest the Governor of Lagos fully opened up Lagos from his partial shut down.

So why are you comparing us with US?

It's not like he'd be thinking of politics after his tenure ends. By then, death would be calling loudly in his ears. Politicians in Naija do not give a fvck about us. When they can easily rig

You think this govt gives a hoot about people's feelings. Lmao. A govt that can kill innocent protesters no send you. It's saving the economy that matters to them. They lost revenue during the earlier lockdown, they're not prepared to tow that path. Ironically, it also benefits the citizenry. We're fine with it. Also, let's not deceive ourselves. Virtually all Nigerians have been exposed to this virus. But, we'd all be fine

I feel you. What you are saying is the plain truth but the thing is when Nigerians hear the word "lockdown", it resonates with "hunger".
I feel there are other ways to do a lockdown. I.e order all businesses who need to perform services to in-house its staff to prevent movement. Restrict market to 2-3 days a week like before. Stop religious gatherings, weddings, parties, etc. Yes and ban all flights till cases reduce. Like someone said here if we dont lockdown to stop the virus, the virus will force us to start a lockdown.

God bless you sir.

Follow my own thought process. Lockdown in Nigeria aids no one. We should have shutdown air transport and not bring in the virus in the first place. Now it's here with us, we can only live with it. Thankfully, the fatality rate of the virus is low. Lockdown will total crumble the economy, would lead to a tripling of contraction rate and would kill more people (hunger). You need to see how lockdown is in saner climes. People practically do not have to leave their homes. They can simply order for supplies. No one needs to go to the bank. Cashless policy exists over there. Not so In Naija. I surveyed the environment to see how people filled the streets during those days where the lockdown was relaxed to allow people restock. It was a funny sight. I stand by what I said, lockdown in Naija na formality

Points noted. But if the virus becomes uncontrollable, we will still be force to shut down and everything you listed above will still take place. But by then, thousands of lives would have gone with it.

Remember, the reason for the low fatality is still majorly because our health facilities is still controlling this virus. By the time the cases becomes uncontrollable, it's only the rich that will be treated. You and I that don't want to die of hunger will probably be the one fighting for oxygen to breathe.

Two options. Hunger or Oxygen

I wish that I'm in the seat of power. This government that I'm seeing is afraid of the masses. They are afraid of the masses turning against them.

What they don't understand is the fact that when people start dying like chicken they will still turn against you.

We need leaders who ain't afraid of doing the right thing even at the expense of people hating you.

What exactly did the first lockdown achieve? Nothing. If anything, it tripled the contraction rate. Lockdown in Nigeria is meaningless. You lockdown for few days, relax the lockdown for a day or two, tell people to go restock and head to banks to deposit and withdraw, the whole population get jam-packed in markets and banks and spread the virus even more. Then, you continue the lockdown, these people carry the virus and share for others in their neighbourhood during the continuation. Who lose? Stop clamouring for shutdown

Follow my thought process.

How did the Wuhan virus spread all part of the world? Air Transportation.

How did it come to get Nigeria? Air Transportation.

How did it spread to states that have no international airport or local airport? Road transportation.

With the above points, do you still think lock down won't help?

Madam calm down !

Covid-19 is real and nobody is disputing the fact. You think you are making sense but you are not. I can put it to you that you are very SENTIMENTAL. We have two things on ground

1. We must work before we eat
2. There is covid-19 in town

Now how do we balance the two ? U talk about lockdown as if it is a child's play

Oya, prove that I'm sentimental.

The two things we have on ground are these :

1. We shut down now and slow the virus.
2. Or the virus shut us down and by the time it gets to this stage you won't be able to eat that food you are running after.

Did lockdown work? No it did not. We had less than 500 cases when we went into the first lockdown and relaxed when we crossed 5000. A measure is said to be effective when it reduces or eliminates the problem. That is not the case. Secondly if a lockdown is going to be "effective" it means it should be in place until no singular case is recorded in the country for a period of not less than 28days. That will take over 5 years to achieve. Can a country be locked down for that long?

Coming to the vaccine (not a vaccine by the definition of a vaccine), is will not take a way lockdowns, social distancing and wearing of masks, why? Pfizer and Moderna have clearly stated that it will not protect you from getting it or spreading it but will only reduce COVID 19 complications in 94% of cases. So 6 out of 100 can still have the complications and possibly die, which is not different from the case without vaccines.

Another point of note, is the immunity from the vaccine is expected to last for 5 months. Meaning that everyone will be expected to take the "vaccine" at least once in a year.

Before the vaccine will be so much in circulation, touching all the villages in Asia, South America and Africa, it will take another up to 5 years.

Conclusively, lockdown is no way to go and the coming vaccine is not the solution we think it is. COVID is far from over. It will only be over the day the people come to terms that the narratives around COVID do not add up.

You are instinctively evil. You are cold and calculative. Your thinking is like Donald Trump. You care more about business than people. You don't give a bloody ass as long as is not your ass that's on the line.

So we shouldn't do anything. We should wait till fools like you comes to terms that the narratives around Covid-19 do not add up. We shouldn't lock down. We should not strive for vaccine.

And I know you will be a very religious person.

So I would have ignored if I wasn't affected by this Covid. On December 24th I was confirmed positive for Covid-19 via PCR testing. I had the most horrible Christmas in memory. I don't want to go into details.of the symptoms but it was brutal. Myself and my partner both tested positive and had to be caring for each other. That's one.

Last week Saturday my mother in law tested positive via Rapid Testing and we tried to treat her at home. By this Saturday that just went by, her oxygen saturation had dropped to 77% and we had to rush her to a hospital. She's cu3on CPAP and in an ICU and we are looking to God. So to seat down wherever you are and say Covid is a scam is not only disappointing it's very sad.

Sending a virtual hug to you and your family.

Now you've shifted the goal post.
My argument is that
THOSE YOU CALL CHAUVINISTS ARE NOT.
I quoted some of what they wrote (through God's inspiration) to show how God views all human - male or female.
Now you're asking if Paul is a man or a spirit. Of course he's a man but ARE ALL MEN CHAUVINISTS?

I didn't shift the goal post. I try as much as possible to restrict the religion aspect of me to the religion section but since you are willing let's go there. Ist cor 13:34-35

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Is the bolded not written by a chauvinist man?

I feel you have been deceived, thinking that "so call laws of God" were written by CHAUVINISTIC men.
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR IT" Eph 5:24.
This verse sounds chauvinistic I believe
Even from the beginning, we read
"God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
This makes man and woman equal in essence right from the beginning but the WIFE should submit to her husband while the HUSBAND must love his wife.
How this who may have made young think the way you do missed these (which is a little fraction of what the Bible really teach. I'm lazy to type and my keyboard is not well allign, hence susceptible to errors)

Who wrote the book of Ephesians? Is it not Paul? Is he not a man? Is he a spirit?

I hope you don't mind, how did you come to abandon religion? Are you now an atheist?

Run No be me. I won't say that I abandoned religion, I outgrew it. I discovered life became more meaningful when I broke away from the laws of men which was called the laws of God.

I am not an Atheist and I am not a religionist. I am a free thinker.

But the idea of being identified as a feminist is not about joining any group or openly declaring yourself as one. It's a matter of your actions as can be perceived by others. So if you see a misandrist and you still call them feminist simply cause you want to call the dog a bad name, it's absolutely your decision. You seem enlightened enough to know the difference so if you have any problem with misandrists, call them out and stop calling them feminists unless you have an agenda to diminish the true essence of feminism cause you feel threatened by it. Some of the people advocating for women rights are happily married with kids but you'd rather judge the concept of feminism by the words of the misandrist in your street. It's understandable that a man sees a woman asking for equality as a threat to his superiority but that shouldn't make us muddle up things.

There's hardly ever a thread here that doesn't end up with Nairaland boys insulting women and calling them all sorts of names. Threads pop up every minute to insult Nigerian girls. A lady is called an ashawo once she's rich and flashy. A woman shouldn't live alone or aspire to be too rich. A female can hardly give her opinion on Nairaland without being called a hoe and yet the guys that sleep with the so-called hoes are untouchable. In fact the gender bias has almost driven away all the ladies on the app. But it's someone that's asking for women to be included when her late father's property is being shared that's a sexist? Someone asking for gander to get what the goose is enjoying is the sexist? And what exactly is "modern feminists". Do we have some kind of feminism practiced during the time of our ancestors that we don't know about?

God bless you.
