I can tell you that the issue most Nigerians have with the so called "government efforts" has nothing to do with religion.
I personally who is a strong critique of the so called efforts doesn't give a hoot about crossover night or any religious activity for that matter, can't even recall the last time I went to church.
The bigger issue here is that people's lives are being ruined over a virus that we are yet to see it's much acclaimed devastating effect in our climes.
Do you know how many sources of income we're destroyed during the last lockdown? Now they are planning a fresh one while folks are yet to recover.
What about university students that have already lost a whole year as it is?
The nations they are copying like idiots we have seen the devastations over there, where is the devastation in Nigeria?
They have good stimulus packages for their citizens. Our leaders are serial palliative looters.
They have massive advanced economies built on top notch infrastructure and technology and will always bounce back, our economy is still largely informal, small, and simply battered.
We will ground our already battered economy, killing off internal revenue generation for the country, then run off to IMF and other foreign bodies to beg for grants.
You overrate your government dear.
I can assure you that the "government efforts" you are defending here doesn't have you in positive consideration.
Have you reasoned that it's because of the last shut down that Nigeria is not like the UK or the America. Due to the failure of America refusal to shut down their economy within the span of 12 months they now have close to 20 million cases as of today. These are my questions.

1. If it takes America 12 months to get to 20 million, how long do think it will take for Nigeria to get to 20m?
2. Remember our public transportation is nothing to write home on, so how long will it take us to get to 20m?
3. Remember, Nigerians are lawless, so how long will take us to get to 20m?
3. Remember, our hospitals are nothing to write home on, so how long will it take us to get to 20m?
4. Remember, our markets is nothing to write on, so how long will it take us to get to 20m?
5. Above all, due to thinking like yours how long will it take us to get to 20m?

Your selfishness will cost us all.

This govt of ours are just playing us like ludo.

You complain that people no longer comply with the NCDC guidlines yet our international borders are still wide open while more developed countries have closed theirs .
Who is deceiving who?

I actually expected these numbers today, just a plan way to scared people's away from crossover night.......
Smart NCDC grin

In other word, Covid-19 is real but overhyped in Africa, we got more deadlier diseases than covid,,,,,, typhoid, measles, malaria etc

Stay safe
How can you compare Covid-19 to Typhoid, Measles or Malaria. Can it be contacted by siliva, touching of things those infected have touch? Can all these diseases survive outside of the hosts?

Why is it that the most religious people are the most selfish? So because of your foolish money making cross over night, you want to rubbish government effort.

The government should publicly announce the numbers for us to call to report those who will disobey government directives. I'm already seeing them on this thread.

Nigeria is getting there. Marriage in Nigeria is synonymous to slavery.

Most Nigerian men are slave catcher and most Nigerian women are slaves.

The things that annoys me most is that women that are not happy in their marriage will be shaming single women into marriage. Da ti mo she da. I want you to be miserable like me.

Nigerians are innately lawless, so they can't be depended on to obey Covid-19 laws. Those who tested positive won't publicly announce it so that those who came in contact with them will isolate. And who know that they came in contact with someone who tested positive will use God name to do evil. They will start proclaiming foolish proclamation...... It's not my portion. You can't see beyond your nose. Your brain didn't tell you the reason for the low death is simply because our health system is still controlling it. Immediately the cases get higher the death rate will increase simply because there is no enough facilities and personnel to take care of the fall out.

If the case get worse than this, it will only be the rich that will be treated.

The government have started closing loopholes for travellers coming into this country.

Better late than never.

This is to inform you that the Federal Government of Nigeria has rolled out new containment measures against the importation of C-19 into the country. With effect from Monday the 28th of December all international travellers must register with the Nigeria International Travel Portal – nitp.ncdc.gov.ng.

When returning to Nigeria all travellers must present two documents to the airlines in order to board. The first document is a negative COVID-19 PCR result and the second document is a permit to travel.

To get a permit to travel on the travel portal, the customer must have done the following
1. Completed the health questionnaire electronically
2. Uploaded a COVID-19 PCR result
3. Paid for a repeat test that would be done 7 days after arrival in Nigeria.

Passengers who do not present a permit to travel would not be accepted for flights to Nigeria from the 28th of December 2020.

Can you also tell me of any quarantine centre you kno.. If you don't mind..

I stand to be corrected!
I know of Lagos. A friend of mine who was a health professional was recruited specially for this and he has been reporting at this center since the Covid-19 begins and he even shared pics of this center with me.

You can even Google it. It has been on the news and not something that's hidden.

The markets are not even left out, most government ministries I visited in Abuja, were just making a mockery of themselves and the whole thing cos they aren't even wearing a face mask.. Just hanging on their Jaws.. Funny!

Buddy, enlighten me more on COVID19 in Nigeria cos I kno nuthin here.
All what you observed are the reasons Covid-19 will be catastrophic in Nigeria if the government agencies lose control of the contact tracing.

Nigerians are stubborn and disorderly. In addition to all these they are ignorant. And those that are ignorant are the most vocal and you can see that on this thread.

If the government lose control, we don't have enough hospitals or health professionals to deal with it and that's why the death rate will be devastating.

I'm not an health expert but I work in the travel industry so let me educate you all a little.

Before you travel out or in into this country you must do a Covid-19 test in a government approved lab. And most of this labs are not government owned. They are run by professionals. So when you test positive, your result will be transmitted to Ncdc and to government agencies in charge of contact tracing.

I know our government are largely dishonest but this time, they have been over trying. If not for them, Nigeria would have been worse than America.

They need all of us to support them. If this thing goes out of hand, we are all in soup. Please stop saying is a lie. Na true o.

Everyone is moving to better things, even children have grown up to be responsible and starting to make ends meet themselves. Which kin life be this now, I don't have anything again. I'm tired, I'm really really tired and frustrated, I just want it to stop so that I can work and eat and have a roof too like a normal human being. Just what else do I have to reflect on.

I'm really frustrated at this point. I just keep laughing, but I've already gone mad inside me. My mind may just explode.
It's alright but please and please stop comparing your life with others. Your journey in life is never the same as their own. And I know it's easier said than done especially in a country where family, friends, religion centers, etc put unnecessary pressure on you.

So why can't you work?

Thank you OP. A war has been waged on women for centuries. The biggest war against women is religion and culture. Why are they afraid of women?

The war is not just by men but the most hurtful is the war waged by women who have been conditioned by the society.

We have been so conditioned to see ourselves as competitors. That's why you will see women fighting over men. It's the reason why a woman highest aspiration is to marry a wealthy man. It's the reason you will hardly see a woman being lifted by fellow women.

When you see a successful woman, people automatically assume she slept her way up there. But how else can she get up there when she will find it difficult to find a fellow woman who will lift her up. When she even find, the woman automatically sees her as a competitor and not an ally.

And that's why you see our young men accusing women of being Oloshos. What else do you expect to find. You all conditioned them to be Oloshos.

I thought I had quoted it before, that was why I didn't. Just saw that I hadn't. I did mention it in my very first response on the thread and more than once since. If I was trying to pretend that it said something it doesn't actually say, why would I even offer the reference? Wouldn't it be easy to see that I am lying?

I don't see that passage saying either that the sons and daughters of Adam were born after Cain's exile or that none of them was exiled. We are reading the very same text that you posted. I don't see any "after Cain's exile" there, do you? Do you see any "no other child of Adam's was exiled"? I don't. These are foreign intrusions on the text that you are reading. If you could justify it with some reasoning, then maybe we could see how you see it implied in the text, but so far you have no provided such reasoning.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Let's leave it to the reader to be the judge.

Ihedinobi3:
Oh, I understand that now. I suppose the trouble for me now is that you claim that authors in the Bible justified the demonization of women or seeing them as second-class citizens.

Since you quoted 1 Timothy 2, you must be defining demonization and second-class citizen different than I know. Why do you call what Paul said "demonization" or "seeing women as second-class citizens" here?
God bless you for that question. The Bible treat women as a person with no agency. As a person that cannot think. As a person that is incapable of leadership. As an extension of a man. And that has done an incalculable damage.

It's the reason most women believes they are incapable of leadership. They believe the highest achievement as a woman is to be married. It's the reason they rely on men to survive. It's the reason they don't strive for more in life. It is the reason they tone down their star because they don't want to hurt the man in their life. It's reason for so much War. It's the reason they hide their intelligence because they don't want to threaten the men they come across.

Religion has done an incalculable damage to the Psyche of women for generations.

Ihedinobi3:
I think you might be deliberately missing the point here. I have explained my position on this. I don't owe you ap passage saying anything, since I have only been arguing that you are forcing things into the Bible.

The Bible is clear that Adam and Eve had other children. We have that from Genesis 5:4. It just doesn't say explicitly when these children were had. Because it doesn't, it is not unreasonable to assume that at least some of them were born around the same time as Cain and Abel were. In fact, because the Bible is quite detailed about the creation of the original humans, it forces us to acknowledge the existence of siblings by mentioning Cain's wife whose existence can only be explained on one of two ways: (a)unique creation like Adam and Eve or (b)Adam and Eve's child. Since Eve is the mother of all humans (Genesis 3:20), it is clear that there are no human beings that exist who don't ultimately derive from Adam and Eve. This leads us to understand that if Cain had a wife, then he had siblings besides Seth.

This is just using information in the Bible. Your argument distorts what the Bible actually says, attributing things to it with no clear justification for doing so. That is what I'm hoping that you will see.
Bullshit! Why didn't you quote Gen 5:4 if you are so sure of yourself. I'll quote it. Gen 5:4

4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

As you can see with your eyes, the sons and daughter was after the Exile of Cain. And his sons and daughter weren't exiled like Cain.

Yes he did, obviously. My confusion right now is how cause is following effect in your argument. You appear to suggest that Genesis was written because of 1 Timothy, but 1 Timothy was written more than a thousand years after Genesis, so I don't see how your argument is reasonable.
I never said that. I said the event that took place in the Book of Genesis was the basis used by most of the Authors in the Bible to justified the demonisation and the seeing of women as a second class Citizens.
