Speaking during the Commissioning of the Mbano Camp/Old Aba-Port Harcourt road to Kom-kom railway, Governor Wike said it is in fulfilment of the pledge he made to the Oyigbo people that he will fix the critical road before his first 100days.
He immediately directed the contractors to commence the second phase of the road which will terminate at the boundary with Abia State, adding that the second road in Oyigbo Local Government Area linking Eleme Local Government Area will be constructed to improve the economy of the two areas.
He said: "This administration is anchored on God, that is why we will continue to win. It is not a media based administration, but one based on performance, facts and development of our beloved state.
"Whatever promise I made during the campaign, I will keep. This administration is focused on reviving Rivers State and ensuring that our people benefit from good governance ".
At the commissioning of the Iriebe Housing Estate, Governor Wike directed that the 50 units of higher low income flats be sold to the people at affordable prices without any profit to government.
He said that his administration will be beneficial to all people of the state irrespective of their social status.
The governor stressed that his housing programme will be targeted at the less privileged to ensure that their standard of living is improved.
Rivers State Commissioner for Housing, Mr Emma Okah said the project is the first in the comprehensive housing programme of Governor Wike.
Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Works, Paulinus Nwankwoala said the Mbano Camp/Old Aba-Port Harcourt road to Kom-kom railway is 3.7kilometres in length and will help the people of the area overcome their difficulties.

bushdoc9919: You know...it is funny how Nigerians do not look at the qualifications and previous performance of political appointees...
No..it is the tribe they look at (And religion).
Right now...I have looked at the comments here, and I have absolutely no idea about the chaps previous performance, or whether they are qualifed for the jobs. However.....I am hearing comments either rejoicing that ''my tribe has gotten a job'' or ''we are being marginalised''.
The amusing thing is.....the appointees so far are not important posts. Like Customs for example....and immigraiton. We have not yet appointed the Minister of the Interior...who they would be reporting to.
You know something.....the comments here reveal something wrong with the Nigerian psyche. It seems that we think that if someone from our tribe or state gets a job in Aso Rock....we can now have development. Well...there are 350 tribes in Nigeria. What if your tribe loses out to the other tribe tomorrow. ? And let's be honest....Buhari cannot please every tribe. I don't think any Nigerian leader has appointed people from all tribes in his government.
You Nigerians...regardless of who is appointed into Buhari's govt.....development does not begin when your son or daughter gets a job. Now...I know the South East has lost out. Does that mean the SE will never ever get developed? What are their governors and LG chairmen doing? Put them to work for you. And that goes for any tribe that gets the jobs too. Just because your son is now ''Mr High Ranking Government official'' does not mean that the road to your village would be fixed. Your son has other duties. Meanwhile....your governor and LG chairman are there. They want to work for you . Put them to work for you.
Honestly.....the way we focus on Abuja appointment.....are we really ready for true federalism? Is Buhari's new SGF going to be running Adamawa State as well? Is the new NNPC CEO also the LG chairman of his local government area? Is it their job to bring dividends of democracy.....when they have other things to do?
Nigerians are a lazy and parochial bunch. Time we woke up from laziness.....and got to work. Bless you bro |

He then informed me he had another package of 5 GB which he can send immediately, for which i sent 1,000 naira. I sent 1,000 recharge via VTU to him and since then i neither received the data or refund of my money. laudate: Madam, am not aggrieved with the restructuring, provided it is done in a proper and ethical manner. And am not an official of NNPC, so kindly stop the conjecture.
I do not need to have an audience with Kachikwu to make any feelings known to him. His actions already portray the kind of person he is. Don't forget that "by their fruits, ye shall know them."
My objections have to do with the blind defence of any silly action that any top govt official carries out, in this country.
We are all so quick to hail any action without thinking it through, or looking at the pros and cons of those actions as well as the resultant effects on the system. Yet, when things end up not working properly, we turn round to blame others for the misfortune that arises, from the consequences of such actions.
We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again, yet keep expecting a different result. Other GMDs have tried this approach in the past and it yielded nothing, but failure! Other parastatals have also embarked on the same course of action in the past, only to end up with greater problems than those which initially existed.
We need to look beyond just the implementation of any action, and research the consequences of such actions on the system, the processes, the staff, the corporation and even the country, itself. There is something called "Change Management," and it is a process that every parastatal fails spectacularly, in this country.
Your GMD has started the process. Let us all wait and see how it turns out in the coming months. Reading thoroughly is a problem for Nigerians, especially on nairaland. it said 800 are supposed to retire by december 2016 having reached the mandatory age of retirement 60 years or having spent 35 years in office. They were already on their way out |

IsraeliAIRFORCE: It's as easy as ABC for Mallams in Northern Nigeria. The boundaries are meant for poor people and certainly not for the rich. Ask Sherrif and other Borno elites their stake in Chad Republic
Even Asari Dokubo is citizen in Benin Republic let alone numerous South East, Southwest and South-South Nigerians resident in those countries.
Read the circular again, it says they can withdraw either their dollar or Naira equivalent. Opening an account in a these countries is not easy at all, if you not a resident. Nigerians going to Cotonou for business would have opened accounts long ago |
