PoliticsRe: Achebe’s Biafra Memoir Stirs Controversy by mabcos: 7:21am On Oct 07, 2012
Sincere 9gerian: If what Achebe wrote is the TRUTH, then why shouldn't he tell the TRUTH? Why do some persons want him to hide the TRUTH? That someone says it as it is does not mean the person is still ANGRY or BITTER. The TRUTH is the TRUTH and the TRUTH can never be late in coming. So SORRY if it offended some Yoruba persons or any other person but the TRUTH should not be withheld because it will offend some persons. Again the TRUTH may be RIGHT or WRONG depending on your side of the divide or your understanding of issues. To some persons it is right to use starvation as weapon of war but to others it is an ATROCIOUS act. In the opinion of Achebe and some other persons, it is WRONG but in the opinion of others, including the Late Chief Awo, it is RIGHT. Such is life. But bottomline is was starvation used as weapon of war during the Nigerian civil war? Yes! Was Late Awo the driver of such policy? Yes! Was late Awo interested in becoming president of Nigeria after decimating the 'enemy'? Yes! Was Achebe right in documenting these TRUTHS in his book for posterity sake? I think yes. FOR THE INFORMATION OF ALL, not ALL weapons of war are acceptable or 'fair'. That is the reason you have the red cross and UN to deliver food to the civillian population even in the period of war. Also it is unacceptable to use certain cluster bombs during war or bomb certain targets during war. Again Igbos did not declare war on Nig rather it was Nigeria that attacked Igbo homeland after the east seceded due to massacre of Igbos in the north
But u should Also know that the seceeding was the root and the begining of whatever happened at the end. Seceeding was an unlawful option against other forms of settlement in a one country affair.

Zeus I: Should the world last more two million years with Igbos in extinct, Kogi indigenes with all their might will never be close to one-fourth of Ebonyi state in wealth(their current wealth), let alone the whole of SE, for where! I wonder where kogi is in Africa, in Zimbabwe i guess, 30sec guess where.

knotty: Dear Kogites, hear this;
I am not disparaging you. I just want the right information passed on about this Iron ore thing.
Kogi is as richly blessed with mineral resources as are other states in Nigeria, Iron Ore not being an exception or a new discovery. Obajana cement plant is not situated in that State for naught.
It is just plain worrisome and dumb Kogi, Nassarawa, Zamfara, Plateau, Gombe and Taraba have all not collectively pooled their political resources into developing one endless cash-cow nature had endowed them with. Somebody educate me on this, please..
Assuming we are at infancy as a nation and we cannot harness resources needed to create a vibrant smeltering mineral resources industry; the least we can do is export.
Now, if all these states cannot collectively clamor for a rail line that guarantees their generational wealth, then, perdition to them.
It is as simple as that.
See the distribution of Iron Ore around the world and show me Kogi there please, now or forever

knotty: Without a functioning rail system from source to loading vessels, your Iron ore deposit is useless.
The logistics of moving Iron is so huge that your price will never be competitive internationally except the grade is above 60%. Where will you get that.
Besides, USA/China have some sweet Iron Ore deposit that they can completely ignore Kogi State...Where on the map is that State again?
U better untie that naughty knott and understand that the oyinbo people 4rom Ustralia mention how well located the site is $ how its easy to reconstruct the 4ma railway that passed through there. Don't be bitterly jealous about good things. Its still our country.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Will You Join A Nationwide Protest Against The Unemployment Rate In Nigeria by mabcos: 11:38am On Oct 03, 2012
amor4ce: @poster, first heal thyself. Nigerians who have had the capacity (finance, intellect, drive) but choose not to use such to create jobs should be looked at. They would include the employed and unemployed, the rich and poor, leaders and followers, etc. My take is that we protest against our individual selves first and take responsibility for our actions. This is not to say that there are those who have not been genuinely frustrated in their entrepreneurship endeavours. However, those who do the frustrating are part and parcel of our society.

Why not a protest against those employed cowards who are too scared or lazy to become entrepreneurs and create jobs but prefer the false security of their salaries?
Are u not tired of deflecting us? Who is paying $ how much $ far does it benefit others? Don't weak people from protesting cos de are even clever dan u who won't know der is no enabling enviroment for ur self-employement option.

I learnt a lot from his speech, He was very impressive to all the interviewers and parried all their questions with confidence and in a very humble way. At times, I am tempted to believe that So many Nigerians hve been unfair to this Man. Look at the lot he has been able to achieve in less than 1 year despite all the distraction from Boko haram. Then his response to his Brasilian trip brought chills down my spine, I appreciated his challenge as aNigerian leader in this times.
