Yes. I drove into the TSTV corporate headquarters at Jahi, opposite Gilmor site - Abuja this afternoon. This move was precipitated by the media hype surrounding their entry into the pay-TV market in Nigeria. Mine was just a fact-finding visit to "meet, greet and feel" the buzz.

The first thing that struck was the makeshift security barrier leading to their sprawling compound. A police van was stationed beside the ring of wire, strewn across sand-filled drums on a dirt road. There was noticeable human and vehicular traffic in and out the property, located deep inside this forested up-coming upscale neighborhood. TSTV office is an isolated superstructure decked in their traditional green color. I asked to see the marketing people for inquiries and was directed to the basement. As I made my way down the flight of stairs, the sign "please don't touch the door" flashed on my face from the glass door. At first, I thought it was automatic and would slide open on its own. After some hesitation without any such sign, I gave it a push. It opened and I walked in.

Inside, I could not feel the ambiance of a tsunami-like organization, eager to take on the dstv behemoth. Rather, the setting was quite ordinary and bare-bone. The ceiling looks old and cheap. No whistles and The font-desk lady was pacing up and down, trying to fake some smiles. On the wall was a 40-something inch plasma TV tuned to CNN's Anderson Cooper 360. The pictures were grainy and quite pedestrian. The colours were anything but digital. Sound-quality was very poor. I peeped to see any signs of signal-logo on the screen to be sure it is a TSTV signal. There was none. I asked to see the offering and equipment. The lady told me to wait till Sunday. I asked for any other information that may assist me understand. She handed the attached 2-page piece of handwritten photocopied flyer to me. I was perplexed. Handwritten flyer?

As I turned to go, it struck me that TSTV may not exactly turn out as strong a competition to DSTV as we are made to believe; against all the hype and predictions. Stepping outside, I saw rows of dummy large-circumference satellite dishes littering the frontage, deliberately placed to hoodwink and deceive people. Outside the gate, I saw that the Development Control Unit of FCDA had marked and demolished the small hut, built to house TSTV's transformer because it was illegally located. The blocks and bricks still litter the environment.

I dashed into my car and drove away, with trepidation and prayer that my impressions may just turn out false, for I really wish for the day someone would give DSTV a bloody nose. I pray the day comes soon. I am afraid, TSTV may not be the one. After all. Yet again!

ok , u need to watch one first for u too know the reasons they get the Awards dont u think, and its from Voting just like in football,

secondly now i know y u call series/movie "boring" becoz u have being on the genre for a long time , may be u have being watching Sci-Fi series too much that the rest is so boring for u to like since most of them seems to portray the same information, by the way zoo make sense good story line and full of action,

so i will suggest this to u, just divert to something totally different at one u know, migrate to comedy or crime , or any other thing different from ur choice of series ,then come back later ,

another way i keep my series interested is to download as much different series as possible and store it mixed with normal films and wwe , i watched dem randomly sometimes , for example i had quantico complete season two for over 4 months but am yet to finish it , i had breaking bad complete seasons too but i just pause , knowing that one day i will not have anything else to watch ,then i will resume , i have enough space for that ,

the bottom line is try to change things around u , dont try to finish ur films once it gets boring that way , thanks

I have said it before and will say it again. A big brand is a big brand ooo! Dstv is experience and knows the Nigerian market wella, besides they are a company with deep pocket. Have you wondered why HITV died? HItV hijacked the right for EPL in Nigeria for a season and left dstv by surprise but what did dstv do?

They endured that one year and only showed selected matches but not all big games. Guess what dstv did? Before that same season ended, they purchased the right for 5 yrs straights running from a fresh season becos of their deep pocket. They crippled HITV. It's not as if both of them can't show it at the same time, of cos if both does people will still buy HITV cos it's cheaper but what I think is that both are using the same source to air live games, so only one of them can sir it as a means of protecting their brand. If you must also show it, you will buy the right from them and they will only give you selected games. Not all games! They paid HITV in their own coin.

This was what buried HITV! So when star times came with their own 1,000 naira subscription, what did multichoice do? They launch a new product in GOTV that will play in that lower league to tackle star times becos obviously DSTV is premium brand and can't be selling at same price with star times. So all they needed to do was bring some Kool channels from DSTV to GOTV and pay less to watch it. So ordinarily, people still wanna watch epl (super sport select 1 &2), watch CNN, Africa magic (yoruba, igbo & hausa) etc. GOTV does not even have to sell at same rate with star time as they are slightly expensive, yet star times can't take GOTV out of the market. In a few years time star times may shut down if their profit isn't taking care of their expenses. This is trade!

So let's see their reaction to TSTV. As a sales manager in a multinational brand in Nigeria, I know they will react and that's to probably slightly reduce price of dstv subscription or introduce some new exciting features to their lower bouquets, make their dstv decorder cheaper or to do an upgrade GOTV in terms of channels to compete with TSTV. I'm sure GOTV will come with some Kool stuff to match TSTV cos that GOTV is their weapon to fight off competition when it comes to pricing. TSTV must be ready ooo!

To out class dstv in Nigeria will be hard. TSTV must find a way to rival super sports, Africa magic, CNN if they want to stay very long and also win the market share.

From the list of their proposed channels TSTV can compete but what features will their decorder give you? What is that new thing you can get from outside dstv? They must address that too.

Fans on Reddit stressed that Longclaw's eyes are just a transparent piece of crystal that fills out when the hand is behind the handle. So the "opened-eyes" effect is just a reflection of Jon's hand hitting the ice. What a bummer.


Others argued the hand does not reach that far to create a reflection. Is that just a drop of water? An optical illusion?
