the most probable scenario will be a request from the VO for an updated LOA not an outright refusal. Rarely do IRCC refuse application because the admission date has elapse. People still get approved even after the school resumption date had passed.

dafuturis:
Hello guys
Please I need your candid advise.

Form A messed me up so I couldn't meet the June 13 deadline to pay the balance of first semester school fees, then immediately came the Naira floating cum devaluation. I have a friend in Canada also schooling in Conestoga who told me to relax that the payment can even be made close to resumption, that the school will enrol me regardless when they receive it but he asked I send an email to the school to let them know about the delay.

I sent an email to the school July 4, a reply was sent yesterday 18th July. They've reaffirmed my friends initial assurance to me and said so far I have paid the tuition deposit of 1500 CAD that my space remains reserved but warned that I must ensure I pay it before traveling as VO at arrival airport in Canada will not approve my entry.

I submitted my visa application on the 8th of July, biometrics booked for 13th July. I got medical request on the 14th of July. I did upfront medical on the 13th of July same day I did biometrics,. had to do the two same day to save cost of traveling twice to Abuja from Port Harcourt.

Medical result was sent to my email July 17th, I uploaded it via webform immediately to my application. This is the present state of my application, no medical passed update yet.

Now to the main issue:;
My worry now is that I might be refused visa because I'm yet to pay first semester school fees and it was stated that my offer expires if by the 13th of June the balance of first semester is not received.

My fear is that I might be refused approval at this stage if attention is paid to it by the issuing officer. note, I have my generated form A uploaded but there is no uploaded evidence from school of successful receiving my payment.

I have been thinking, should I quickly make the payment and upload it via webform to my application or relax and wait for visa decision?

Please I would like to hear of your opinions if this would affect my visa final approval decision or will not. some persons have said it will not because if I don't pay there is no way I can enter the country, the exact same warning from the school in their email reply.
note, my offer has no condition of acceptance

Will this be an issue with the final visa issuing officer or it is not a serious concern, Is the deposit enough for the officerhuh opinions very much appreciated 🙏🙏

Attached:
Screenshots from LOA about the deadline and condition of acceptance.

lol. that was a detailed info and they wonder why the refusal rate is very high with nigerian applications. that's a public confession of a potential crime.

zubizareta:
What's the purpose of all this information in a public space like this? Ircc will only keep getting strict with their POF scrutiny when information like this keeps getting leaked to the public. Make una continue till they release updated Conditions on pof.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 4:15am On Jul 16, 2023
remember the questionnaire you answered after setting up GCkey. there is a question specifically asking if ur study has a work component. probably you answered yes, now they expect you to provide evidence. So you might want to go back and check the answers u gave to those pre application questions.

KingCassy:
Please I want to pay for my admission application fee of $110. Which payment service can I use??
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza:
bros, saying you have evidence of some thing doesn't necessary make the evidence real. You can go ahead and publish the names and the documents of the people you have referred here who got all those PhD admission with Nigerian HND.

The evidence I will refer you to is the masters admission requirements of Canadian universities. Pick any Canadian university, go to the country specific requirements, select Nigeria then come back and tell me which ones has Nigerian HND as equivalent to PGCert. You are taking HND as a generalized certificate which means different things in different countries.

I want to note that the subject of discussion here is the Nigerian HND, not a generalized HND because some countries have HND certificates too which are three year program just as some B.Sc you can finish in 3 years. the Nigerian HND is two years and is rated below bachelors degree. Check the country specific requirements and tell us the ones that accept Nigerian HND for masters not to talk of PhD. Yes for PGcert because PGCert admission requirements accept 2 year post secondary diploma.

Meanwhile HND is not accepted for post graduate diploma. yes it is accepted for post grad cert. Most Canadian Universities dont offer Post grad cert which is very popular with Ontario colleges. I am writing as someone who has gone to both Nigerian and Canadian schools. When u read about HND, try to ascertain which country's HND cus some countries have it as a 3 year program unlike Nigeria.
If you are applying from Nigeria, the requirements for Canadian masters is a 4 year post secondary degree and I dont see a Canadian university taking any PhD application with an HND qualification serious regardless of the grade. Check the country specific requirements, not the general requirements.

ShowYoung:
Your are entitled to your opinion. I have stated out what I know and am sure of. You don't have to agree.

You are the one confusing yourself and others with the bolded. If it weren't for the fact that this place is for the sake of information seeker, I will not engage in this argument.

I don't argue without evidence and data. What you need to do as an educated person is to ask for evidence, debunk the evidence through another evidence or agree that those universities in the UK, US, Australia etc that accept HND to master's program are not standard or don't know what they are doing.

You can even add that WES Canada do not know what they are doing for them to assess HND as equivalent of Canadian PostGrad Cert.

You can even say Canadian colleges and universities are not standard for accepting HND to at least Post Grad studies where no two year post secondary diploma is acceptable.

Evidence

1. HND is assessed to be equivalent to PostGrad Cert by WES Canada (You will ask for evidence)

2. People have secured admission to master's degree in Canada using HND (Distinction)-- You will ask for the evidence.

3. Someone has secured admission to a PhD program directly in the US. Please ask for evidence.

4. People have secured master's degree admission with HND in Nigeria, the UK, the US, Benin, Togo etc. Please work with data and ask for evidence.

5. HND is not regarded as a 2 year diploma-- I will show you evidence. HND is acceptable for PostGrad Diploma and PostGrad Cert admissions in Canada where no 2 year post secondary diploma is acceptable. I have provided you reason, I challenge you to ask for evidence.

I challenge you to come out and provide evidence and do not just issue words of mouth.

Word of mouth can lie, may be wrong, inconsistent and incorrect, but data can never lie.

Let us work with data.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 7:47am On Jul 14, 2023
kind of hard to agree with what you have put down here. For a masters program, you will need a 4 year degree cert. Nigerian HND is a two year program. so where will you get the remaining credit to make it a 4 year program. For a Masters program in Canada, HND is assessed independent of OND, not with OND. For each school, go to the country specific requirements and no where is HND listed as a qualifying cert. for applicants from Nigeria Dont confuse Nigeria's HND with those from other countries. In the eyes of Oyibo, Nigerian HND is treated as a two year post sec. certificate.

ShowYoung:
That is what you think, but I am telling you what I know and am sure of.

Reasons and Proofs

1. HND is assessed to be equivalent to PostGrad. Cert. by WES Canada.

2. If PostGrad. Cert is higher than Bachelor Degree, then HND is higher than Bachelor Degree.

3. Recently, an HND holder got admission to a PhD-- Doctoral Degree-- program in a US university direct without having a Bachelor's or Master's Degree.

4. In Express Entry, HND gets 22 points, Bachelor Degree gets 20 points.

5. You should also note that Nigerian HND is higher than and different from the UK HND based on course load and credit units.

6. I can mention at least 10 UK universities accepting HND direct to master's degree programs. Also, I can mention at least 5 US universities accepting HND direct to master's degree programs.

7. You may want to ask for more evidence if the ones above are not satisfactory enough.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 7:19am On Jul 14, 2023
I will advice you make a very detailed letter of explanation. include the initial application you submitted for the admission including the receipt for the application fee you paid. include relevant correspondence you had with the school. Attaching prior post secondary education credential you have wont hurt as well.
NB: dont assume they will simply call the school to reverify. you have to give them enough reason to even want to go the extra step to verify your renewed LOA

CanJ:
Please my guru help me out now it is urgent
I needed to respond to IRCC now. I just got response from Niagara college. The just gave me revalidation the LOA and extend the due date. So how should I package it to IRCC now
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 4:33am On Jul 13, 2023
first you can visit the IRCC web page to read about the requirements for a study visa.
2. you have to have sufficient fund to cover your tuition and living expenses
3. there are certain things that will determine how many years' POF you will need to show. e.g, the year duration of your program, who is the
sponsor, other family commitments etc.
4. Its very technical, but read through this thread, you can educate urself better.
5. if i have more info about your situation, maybe i can give specific advice

Iykip:
Hi, I just got admission. I need to start the study visa application process. How do I go about it?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 4:06am On Jul 12, 2023
insufficient funds can be any number of things not necessarily whether the closing balance on the account will be sufficient to cover the program you are going for. you need to order for the VO's note to be able to understand the reason.
I read where u mentioned waiting for the money to bounce back so you could reapply, you will simply be risking another rejection if a lump sum money bounces into ur account and u bounce out to submit another application.
how strong is your husband's source of income that he could sponsor you for 4 years and still take care of your kids (kids = my assumption). did u submit enough documentation about his income pics aside.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 3:49am On Jul 12, 2023
you can simply say you are yet to obtain your study permit from immigration Canada. Let them interpret it anyway they want. I defer admission for people all the time and that's the vague language I use and no school has ever come back seeking clarification. You dont need much sentences when you seek to defer admission unless the school demands for it.

Queensfield:
Hi. Thank you for your message. I want to know what I will state as my purpose of deferment. Should I mention visa rejection? Thanks so so much for your reply.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 4:07am On Jul 11, 2023
please I'm sorry you understood my comment that way. there was no intention to insult or bully you. reading the last paragraph of my comment, it was clearly rhetorical and not intended for any one in particular. the phrase u referred to simply said "use common sense" and not "Use your senses" as u quoted. you will also noticed I used "someone", "he" and "his" in that paragraph so the statement was a generalized one. in any case I apologize if u feel the way u do.

Zeed13:
You have just said to someone u don't know "Use your senses".
Like for real?
For sure, you read well when I said, my mistake and acknowledge that the person knows better.
I thought it was deferred and not a change of DLI.
You this online bully think really think u are the guru.
To my face, you can't utter this.
I am not expected to know all, that's why I asked. It is yours to help with what you know or look away. Don't be rude.
In between, thanks for the clarification.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 3:38am On Jul 11, 2023
there are two issues here and you have to ask your friend if he has ever applied for a US, UK, Australia or New Zealand visa and had failed to declare these in his application. This letter seems much more than a financial statement from a micro finance which I'm sure the visa officer would simply have refused the application.
You need to check if there were any prior visa applications to the 4 countries I mentioned earlier which your friend had failed to disclosed. there is clearly an allegation(s) of dishonesty/forgery/misrepresentation. Its not just the mere fact that micro finance is not an acceptable form of POF.

jokeadegokeblog:
Please, who has received Procedural fairness before? How did you address it? Please
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 3:35pm On Jul 10, 2023
obviously you are mixing a lot things. please stop giving wrong advice here. first time visitors to this thread will run with those kind of misinformation.
to defer admission is completely different from changing your DLI. go to IRCC web page you will understand when people say the DLI that gets you visa here u will need to present at POE to get a study permit. IRCC clearly have it on their page, if u change your DLI while in Nigeria, you will need to make a fresh application in Nigeria.
By the way why will someone in his right senses even want to contact IRCC or send IRCC more documentations while in Nigeria when his application has been approved and visa issued. Use common sense, u dnt want to reopen a case that has been settled in your favour...do u?

Zeed13:
Then I am wrong on this then.
You know better.
Could you please explain to me the people who changed their resumption dates, deferred, (Same school, same course, same DLI) after receiving the study permit? What should they do?
While waiting for a study permit, my cousin deferred her admission, thinking it might be too late to make the resumption, but to her surprise, she got her approval (20 days to resumption). Now she has the new admission letter with her and set to travel this coming month.
Would this be a problem for her?

Also, her study permit in her online portal would expire early (months before her study), does she has to re-apply while in Canada or the study permit will be issued with the new admission letter at the point of entry?
Please shed more light!
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 3:15pm On Jul 10, 2023
u need to understand his case and question before you can advice. He was asking if he could update his new LOA with IRCC while in Nigeria
if he changes his DLI with IRCC while in Nigeria, he will need to make a fresh study permit application with the new DLI. the travel visa issued to him is dependent on the letter of acceptance issued by the DLI in Canada. People who understand how these things work have given him the right advice here which is: travel first with your old LOA, enroll in your old DLI then seek to change to your new DLI while in Canada. the condition of his his approval is he will need to study at the school which he has stated in his application, should that change, he will need to make a fresh application and prove he has the POF for the new school because no 2 schools have the same tuition structure. when you already enrolled in Canada you can switch schools but if do that while in Nigeria, you will be invalidating your visa and will need a fresh visa application with your new school

Zeed13:
This information u just provided is false.
So far ur eTa is withing the stated date, you can enter with a new admission letter.
What he/she have is not even a study permit, the study permit will be issued at the point of entry.
And there, the admission letter is asked for.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 1:33pm On Jul 10, 2023
there have been cases of fake admission letters involving newly arrived foreign students here. it got so much media coverage that the Immigration minister had to wade in. The foreign students were on the verge of deportation before the minister granted them short stay out of public pressure.
MY POINT: there is going to be an added level of verification for every acceptance letter submitted for study permit. It wont be business as usual. If an agent obtains acceptance letter for u, easily u can verify by calling the school or emailing them. Just know ur date of birth and details about your course of study and u will get a response at no cost. they are not like Nigerian schools

CanJ:

Hello this is quite an issue. You need to ask your agent to send you a copy of your LOA (if you don't have one yet) and check it well for genuineness. I am quite sure you will get something. You can use the student number on your LOA to reach out to Niagara College to be sure its correct. All I am looking at is that you just need to be sure that LOA is not forged....else, its a different ball game here.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 4:05am On Jul 09, 2023
the best advice for you is to travel with the admission that got you the visa. inside Canada, you can try to change the DLI. if you switch school while in Nigeria, that will invalidate your visa and you will have to apply for a fresh study permit with the new program.

take your chances and show up at the hospital with the medical request letter from IRCC. Phone calls and emails wont do much

emekatimsu:
Hello house, please I really need help. My application for study visa was submitted on the 12th of June and I got my medical request on the 29th of June. However I experienced difficulty with booking for my medical appointment with IOM. (I didn't do upfront medicals).
Eventually I contacted the IOM office via email and they booked me for 28th of July for my medical.
Now the challenge I am having is that according to the IRCC request they stated that I must undergo the medical examination withing 30 days of the request. Between 29th June and 28th July is exactly 30days and IOM take an average of 2-3 days to forward the medical result to IRCC. Making it a total of 32 or 33days.

Have anyone been in this type of situation and how did he/she handle it. I have written to IOM Abuja about rescheduling my medical appointment for an earlier date but I have not gotten any response from them. From the medical request I got, there is a option of contacting IRCC if I can't meet up within the 30days request. I don't even know how to contact them for the Date extension.
The two requests I have is does anyone know how I can reach IOM Abuja call lines (the one in there website isn't going) to book me earlier than 28th July OR how do I contact IRCC to extend my request date?

Abeg anyone knowledgeable about this should bail me out else wahala don dey so o.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 2:40pm On Jul 06, 2023
How many years is your program. The POF may not be sufficient for a 2 year program.
If your application was assessed based on the new exchange rate, then your POF wouldn't be enough. even at the old rate it was
still very tight considering other financial responsibilities your uncle may have.
Order for your notes

The hospital can issue you a confirmation note. That you can send to IRCC with a well written letter. you can send a webform and email copies to Nairobi, Lagos and Abuja consular offices. When you send email or webform, make sure the email address you have on your application form is the one you use in every correspondence with IRCC else they wont acknowledge any info sent from a different email.

NOTE: If the email stated on ur study permit application form is different from the email for ur GCkey account, you have to use the one on your study permit application form.

hillyvee:
Thanks a lot for the response. I called IOM and they confirmed that they sent the results to IRCC since 29th of May. I really confused.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by macdeeza: 2:43pm On Jun 26, 2023
You should have reached out to the hospital much earlier to confirm if your medical exam was actually transmitted to IRCC and if possible, get them resubmit your exam result. Even though you keep sending the med. slip you receive from the hospital, IRCC cannot update ur file based on that alone and if the hospital has not sent them any result, I'm sure the last thing IRCC will do is to contact the hospital on your behalf to get them send your result.
Rather than sending countless webforms, contact the hospital to be sure your medical has been sent. Pressure them to send you confirmation that it has been sent.
You are very close. Keep hope alive. God is with you

hillyvee:
Hello everyone! Please help a brother. I submitted my application on 6th of May, upfront medical on the 8th, and biometrics on the 14th of May. I submitted my eMedical sheet via Nairobi webform, however, I received a medical report request letter on the 26th of May. I have been sending emails and webforms with my eMedical sheet, yet, no response.
Today, I received my BVL, but got a notification that my medical report hasn't been received by IRCC. Today makes it exactly 30 days since I received a medical request.
What should I do regarding this? I'm beginning to panic😥.

A friend just submitted study permit application last week with a proof of funds based on the old naira to CAD$ exchange rate
With this new naira rate, his POF appears grossly insufficient.
Does any one has an idea what he can do in this situation. If they access him based on the old rate, he will scale through but the new rate will cut his POF almost by half.
Please I need suggestion before his eligibility starts

calm down, order your GCMS notes to understand the real reason for refusal.
In the mean time, did your mom provide documents as per her source of income, If you have siblings who are still dependent on your mom, she will have to convince the VO that she is making enough money to sponsor you in Canada as well as take good care of the remaining children back in Nigeria.
For a 3-4 year program, your sponsor will have to demonstrate a very strong financial capability that will sustain you for the duration of your program. she doesnt have to show the availablility of the total tuition for the duration of your studies but she has to convince the VO that her income will be regular and consistent for the 4 years or so you will be studying in Canada.

You are still young, get your GCMS notes, educate your self on this thread and see if you can make a second chance. Canada is a very good place for a young student.
