trexzee: The 10-member Technical Committee on the actualisation of Ibom Deep Seaport has been inaugurated with an assignment to pilot the process for the actualization of Ibom Deep Seaport on or before December 31, 2018. Governor Udom Emmanuel, who gave the charge Thursday after inauguration of the committee, further mandated the members to draw up a road map in collaboration with other stakeholders for the next project phase. Emmanuel asked the committee to review the Outline Business Case (OBC) and other relevant documents to guide in the timely delivery of the project and to ensure compliance with the ICRC Act, 2005 and the National Policy on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the overall project implementation. The governor noted “Ibaka Deep Seaport is an audacious attempt to re-write the maritime story of Akwa Ibom State. It holds the promise of an industrial revolution of our State. It holds the promise of the industrialization of Akwa Ibom. It holds the promise of the creation of over 100,000 jobs. It holds the promise of a self-sustaining commercial city with oil and gas support services. It holds the promise of our finally tapping into our awesome and largely untapped maritime potentials”. According to him, ”It is a seed of greatness which when we plant it, and it germinates, it shall provide economic and social shelter for millions of Akwa Ibom people. It is a project with multiple benefits to our state, our nation and our sub-region. It encapsulates the dream of this administration for the industrial rebirth of Akwa Ibom State. And the industrialization of this State is an article of faith with my administration. The governor remarked ”The list of countries that trace their roots of rapid industrialization to seaports is endless. Foreign Direct Investments flows ceaselessly in Malaysia because of its freight business. Port Klang alone has trade links with over 180 countries, and more than 500 ports. With this, there is no way their economy will fail to thrive. Even the economy of the United States of America is also largely dependent on its waterborne trade. “More than 13.3 million Americans work in port-related jobs that generate nearly 650 billion Dollars in annual personal income and 212.4 billion Dollars in federal, state and local taxes. In Florida specifically, sea ports generate more than 550,000 direct and indirect jobs. The story is not different in Singapore and other Asian Tigers. It can also be our story. This is our dream and vision for our State. Together, we can get there. The climb might be steep. But I have never been more hopeful than I am today that we will get there through your significant contribution at this stage of our administration”, he recapped. While congratulating the members on their appointment, he posited that ”The success or failure of this enterprise, therefore, will not depend on their heads, but on their hearts. If they come to work with the right attitude, the right mind-set and the right passion, they will succeed. When they succeed, we succeed as a people. Therefore, we urge them not to rest on their oars and treat this task as a stroll in the park. They must keep it in their hearts that to whom much is given much is expected. We expect much from them – in fact Akwa Ibom expects them to draw water from stones. “With so much at stake, we took the greatest care to select men and women who have the strongest set of skills to turn this dream into a reality. The Chairman of this Technical Committee for the Realization of Ibom Deep Seaport, She has the expertise, skills and experience needed for this task. The other members of the Committee are all men and women who have reached the zenith of their professions, and have competences needed for the task ahead. We are proud of all of them’’, he added. He said they have been carefully selected to bear critical responsibility for the attainment of a major goal of this administration and launch our beloved State to the pinnacle of greatness, enjoining ‘’Let me, therefore, invite you to share in the urgency of the moment. The Ibom Deep Sea Port will be an industrial mix that will pump our economy to its highest calibration of performance like it is in other climes’’. Emmanuel implored every player drafted into this dream team in whatever role or capacity, to play as if the success of the game depends on his wing, stating “On our part as a government, be rest assured that we will give you all the needed support and co- operation for you to function optimally. We have faith and great expectation that together, we shall safely anchor at our industrial destination. Contribute your quota in our quest to open up Akwa Ibom as the industrial hub of the Gulf of Guinea, and not again the by-word for neglect. This is our chance. Ikwerreboy: Try read the full story. Everyone might be thinking his donation covers all the south south and south east states, but unfortunately its not. Some have even started typing biafra we stand. I laugh because i knw my south south brothers dey will never support been part of biafra thats one, and two vote for any igbo man contesting for president. Those shouting biafra having in mind dat we south south would be part of them should not forget that thesame south south (MOSUNDI) have writen to the united nation asking for a soverign state of niger delta made up of only the 6 south south states. Just google and read for urself.. I went on to rea d the full story of this thread and discovered that The Offor Foundation's contributions will help implement the necessary elimination strategies, such as better coverage and more frequent treatment, in the southern states of: Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, and Imo. So because of Delta state alone it is now south south and south east?? I laugh... Ok, I heard you right! Do you think the Ibibios, Efiks e.t.c will ever agree to be with the Ikwerres? |

Onyiridike: It is a general belief among Nigerians that Igbo people are arrogant and proud.
Well, we can't condemn an entire ethnic group because of the sins of few people.
I am yet to meet anybody whose arrogance or pride could be compared to an Anambra man.
To an average Anambra man:
1. He is the ONLY Igbo man. He looks down on his fellow Igbos and other Nigerians as if they are less than his standard as a human being.
2. He is richer than everybody and even boast on an empty stomach.
3. He is the ONLY wise man while others are fools.
4. He is from Paris and others are rural dwellers.
Finally, I may be wrong since my analysis is based on ALL the Anambra people I have come across. There may be some humble ones but I seriously doubt it. How Market? |

Rilwayne001:
THE BIBLE SAID NO.
1Ti 6:15-16 …………--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
Joh 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
Exo 33:20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
The question is: How true is this using the same bible?
Cc; allnaijablogger, malviguy, truthman2012, ifeann, true2god, jagoon, jcross, proffdada macelliot, bingbagbo, prophetudeme No one has seen GOD except the One who comes from HIM, and that's Christ.. Incase you quote the 'Genesis verse' where Jacob wrestles with "God". That's not God HIMSELF, but obviously an Angel(messenger) who came in human form. Thanks |

WIZGUY69: 1.Sokoto Sokoto has unfriendly climate conditions with temperature going as high as 45C on a normal day. Most parts of the state are rural areas and over eighty percent (80%) of the inhabitants of Sokoto practice one form of agriculture or another. 2. Katsina Katsina is a state in North central Nigeria and has the highest poverty prevalence among all states in the region. 3. Adamawa Formed in 1991 from the extinct Gongola state, Adamawa has of late been terrorized by the Boko Haram terrorists, disrupting its economic development and growth. 4. Gombe Gombe is another North eastern state which suffers sporadic attacks from terrorists. 5. Jigawa Jigawa state is situated in the north-western part of the country. It is mostly populated by the Hausa/Fulani, who are spread throughout the state. It has a 74.1 percent poverty rate. 6. Plateau Plateau state is the twelfth largest state of Nigeria haunted by some terrorist attacks and tribal clashes from time to time, especially clashes between Fulani herdsmen and its inhabitants. 7. Ebonyi Ebonyi is the only south-eastern state among the top 9 poorest country. 8. Bauchi In Hausa the word Bauchi meansthe land of freedom and tourism. However recent Boko Haram adventures in the area, though few, have driven tourists away from the area. 9. Kebbi It is bordered by Sokoto State,Niger State,Dosso Regionin the Republic of Niger and the nation of Benin. The recently concluded Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport (SABIA), stands out as one of Nigeria’s most sophisticated airports and is expected to boost the state’s economy. 10. Zamfara Recently the governor was blasted for the “alarming scope of economic dangers and its potential threat to the economic development of the state,” by the Zamfara Budget Working Group. Niger is the state with the lowest poverty rate which is 33.8%. It was followed by Osun (37.9%) and Ondo (45.7%). Bayelsa (47%) and Lagos (48.6%) have less than 50% poverty rate. The average poverty rate in the Northwest geopolitical zone is 71.4%, which remained the highest in the said area. It is followed by the Northeast region which has 69.1% and the North central region which has 60.7%. Poverty was least dominant in the Southwest (49.8%), South-South (55.5%), and South-East regions (59.5%). YOU LIED! Officially, Anambra State has the Lowest Poverty rate and the highest literacy rate in Nigeria... |
