The standout Premier League fixture this weekend takes place at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Manchester City face Manchester United in the Manchester derby.

Three places and 19 points separate the two bitter rivals in the table, with the hosts seeking to steer clear of Liverpool at the top while the Red Devils aim to re-ignite their top-four pursuit.

As we have become accustomed to seeing all season long, one team's hard work was undone by an inexplicable VAR decision, as Everton held Manchester City at Goodison Park and were somehow not awarded a penalty when the ball struck Rodri's arm inside the area.

A lapse of concentration from Michael Keane at the other end of the field allowed Phil Foden to prod home the game's only goal eight minutes from time, but Everton were reportedly apologised to by PGMOL chief Mike Riley after VAR official Chris Kavanagh saw nothing wrong with the Rodri incident.

However, champions certainly have to win ugly on a couple of occasions, and City have seemingly mastered the art of doing so, but they strolled to a 2-0 FA Cup fifth-round win over Peterborough United earlier this week to set up a quarter-final showdown with Southampton.

Foden's late Goodison goal saw Man City open up a six-point gap to Liverpool in the rankings - although the Reds do boast a game in hand - and Pep Guardiola will need no reminding of how his side's most recent home encounter went against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the champions have unsurprisingly scored a joint-high 36 goals in the Premier League at home this term and have shipped a mere nine - winning seven in a row at the Etihad before that shock defeat to Spurs - and Man United's clinical edge was simply non-existent last time out.

Roy Hodgson has certainly instilled a greater sense of defensive resilience into this Watford side since his arrival, but groans of frustration emanated all across Old Trafford as the Red Devils could not finish a single one of their bountiful chances on the day.

A draw with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano can be viewed as a successful result, but a 0-0 at home to the 19th-placed Hornets did not help Man United's top-four endeavours whatsoever, and the chasing pack are now closing in.

The Red Devils are just about clinging onto fourth spot but find themselves level on points with West Ham United - who travel to Liverpool on Saturday - while Arsenal have now cut the gap to just two points having played three fewer matches.

The draw with Hodgson's side did at least represent a sixth game without defeat for Man United in all competitions, and not since the Vicarage Road humiliation in November have the Red Devils lost away from home in any competition, but they are still waiting for their first away Premier League clean sheet of 2022.

City cruised to a 2-0 win over United earlier in the season, but the Red Devils are no stranger to turning up the heat at the Etihad and have won four of their last five in all competitions on their rivals' turf, but such a record will count for nought if they cannot find their best shooting boots.

MATCH PREDICTION
Man United have something of a penchant for Etihad victories and possess the talent needed to produce another shock result here, but whether Rangnick's side have the defensive nous or attacking edge to do so is another question entirely.

Barring the surprise loss to Spurs, City have swept aside almost all who have come before them at the Etihad this season and are blessed with a near fully-fit squad, so we can only back the champions to come out on top in this crunch derby.

Manchester City 2-2 Manchester United

Lately, Burnley has proven to be a hard nut to Crack.

Chelsea's last outing wasn't impressive, they conceded two goals against a team from a lower division. Although Lord Kepa was the goalie on that particular occasion, I need not explain further why two goals slipped into Chelsea's net.

But that notwithstanding, I see Chelsea taking home 3 points.

Lukaku has been trying so hard to prove that he still got his game intact.

Mason Mount needs to be queried, boy isn't talking our games serious anymore. He kept missing clear cut chances in our game against Liverpool which resulted in the shootout that saw Kepa aim for the moon.

Expect just a goal or two and loads of fouls and corners here.

Tough game!
Burnley Go Win

Burnley's recent form has been impressive, picking up seven points from three matches against Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace between February 19 and February 26, but they will enter this match off the back of a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Leicester City on Tuesday.

The result left the Clarets in 18th position in the table, one point behind 17th-placed Everton, who have a game in hand, while they are just two points behind 16th-placed Leeds United and have a match spare on the Whites.

Newcastle United have propelled themselves up the table in recent weeks, but Brentford and Leeds will certainly both be looking over their shoulders at a vital stage of the campaign, and Burnley have a huge match away to Brentford next weekend before opening April at home to Manchester City.

Sean Dyche's side have only won three Premier League matches this season, which is the worst record in the division, but they have only lost four of their 12 fixtures at Turf Moor, drawing six times in the process.

Burnley have also not beaten Chelsea in the Premier League since August 2017, when they won 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, but the points were shared in a 1-1 draw in London earlier this season, with Matej Vydra netting late to cancel out a first-half effort from Kai Havertz.

Chelsea are well off the pace in the title race but have to concentrate on winning their remaining Premier League games and hope that both Liverpool and Man City go through poor runs of form. Burnley have the home advantage this weekend and have shown major improvements in recent weeks but haven't fared well against Chelsea during their time in the Premier League together.

Chelsea have won five of their last seven encounters with Burnley and haven't lost against Saturday's hosts since 2017. Of Chelsea's last five wins against Burnley, four have produced clean sheets and we're backing Chelsea to claim a win-to-nil on Saturday afternoon. Burnley have lost two of their last three home games, failing to score in each of those defeats, while Chelsea have won five of their last six outings and have secured four clean sheets during that period.

Expert Prediction cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Burnley 2-1 Chelsea

SportsLiverpool Vs Westham: Match Preview, Analysis & PREDICTION by macho44(op): 1:18pm On Mar 05, 2022
Liverpool face another massive test in the Premier League this weekend against West Ham. The last time these two met was in November, with West Ham running out surprise 3-2 winners.

However, the Hammers come into it having only won two of their previous six games, including two draws. David Moyes' side were also dumped out of the FA cup by Southhampton in midweek.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have won eleven on the bounce in all competitions, and are still in with a chance of an unlikely quadruple.

Anfield could be decisive. The Reds are yet to lose at home this season and have not lost with fans in attendance since April 2017. Virgil Van Dijk, who will almost certainly start, has never lost on the hallowed turf in Liverpool red.

Mohamed Salah, Van Dijk, and several other key players have enjoyed almost the whole week off following the 120-minute cup final last Sunday. There are no excuses when it comes to freshness.

MY PREDICTION:

2-1. Liverpool to storm ahead early, with West Ham to score a consolation in the dying embers. Not as close as the scoreline may suggest, performance-wise.
