ROCHAS is truly working. Would prefer ABC motors man to be next governor hopeful could inject some corporate standardization , Effective state planning, a different approach to ROCHAS haphazard developement( mind you, it's far better than the efforts of 3 eastern states , aside ebonyi state, )( at thw end of the end, rochas could have eatwn the money and do nothing. But he chose to work with it. , so that should be commendable , within Naija context failing that, uche nwosu for continuity. But seriously what's up with Abia state ? |

discusant: Stop with this divisive narrative. you gave example with Anambra and Delta, in these two states the non-state capital city had been a major city before the creation of the state. There are many more one city states in the country than duo or more. within SE/SS Akwaibom - Uyo Enugu - Enugu Cross River - Calabar Bayelsa - Yeneogua Rivers - Port Harcourt Edo - Benin Its well known in our culture to pool resource to train the kid with best potential- mostly the first son , in hope he will make it and pull the rest of the siblings. If Only Rochas could plan his development. have a detailed 5 years Plan and stick with it, However, in asmuch as i am a proponent of channel majority of fund to build a reputation city we all can be proud of . i think same time other towns can be open up as well within breaking the bank. Creating new roads- tarred or untarred Aquiring land just outside currently city limit from owners and loaning it to developers to build and sell on. Focusing on main artery to the state capital. empower LGA to carry out simply patching and filling to make roads in their LGA motorable. Creating state wide transport link. with bus stops and effective transport management system. Awarding 100 million to each LGA = x 27 = 2.7Billion, to . Redeisgn and modernize each LGA city center with big walkways ( big; is essential as when there is funds to lay water pipe, internet etc , there would be a ready right of way fo it ) . Create 4 parks each in each LGA. . Aquire Land for "Local" shopping mall to be built by investors. . Each LGA should set out a industrial area for investors to set up industries- whatever is it. Having the ready land for investors help encourage and attract investment . |

macjive01: to add to this, Things Rochas are not doing. Cleaniless,: as someone mentioned earlier, buy street sweepers, 2 will be adequate for the state capital. then one btw 2 local governement. they are not very expensive , about 25million- Innocent IVM even sells it . About N350 millions settles it. You will be amzed how neat and glamorous Owerri and imostte will then look. Education: the standard of education has really gone down since Rochas free education jamboree, Pedestrial walkways : Creating this will eradicate lots of illegal store fronts and shanties by roadside, and give the state a brighter cleaner look Transportation: seen bus stops Abawori posted, but not seen any bus plying the roads. This should have been done before banning Keke. more to come |

Abagworo: Abagworo, calm down, im not against your pay master, i still think he is the best imostate has had after Mbakwe. Of what benefit is an 8 lane 500meter road to the development of the state , when a 4 lane could have done the job perfectly fine. The rest the money spend on the extra 4 lane, could have gone to Orlu or Okigwe. Even within Owerri, many roads are in worse shape after Rochas reconstruction than before. Your "SMART tree" , well smart tree and pedestrain walk way which is of more importance ? if you take up the space for walkway to erect giant pillars for yoru smart trees how then would the residences of the street move about? walk on the roads? the decoration, in all honest is pretty , especially at nights , but it wasnt thought out , planned and risks mitigated. the design could have employed smaller bases at sections of road with tight pedetrial walkway. etc. |
Politics / Re: Few Pics From Imo State by macjive01: 2:25am On Apr 02, 2018 |
The Major problem with Rochas and his development, is lack of planning. No detailed plan before embarking on any work. Rochas travels and sights a piece of structure, once he gets back to Owerri, he assembles his local contractor and demands the monument, feature be replicated in the state. Now, consider the giant lamppost he is erecting aside the roads. They are so big , their bases take up most of the walk way ( pedestrian walkway) such that people are having to now walk on the road to evade the post . Essentially , when the sideways are to be properly constructed , the pillar and maybe the post will have to go - another waste of scarce fund by Rochas. Schools: Rochas undoubted reconstructed a few decent schools in mostly owerri, and build over 100- 300 primary school in electrol ward ( at various stages of abandonment) . Imagine if this was properly planned ? 27 Standard school could have been built. one in each local governement, with exisiting schools, given a decent facelift, paint and ceiling and roofing . Hospital: Imagine embarking on building 27 General hospitals ? That would have produce one standard western standard hospital. Rebuilt the Univeristy teaching hospital. And the a Nursing college. Roads: why build 6 lane roads, when many major road within the state , even owerri is still in shambles. makes absolutely no sense. Ugly monuments- see the Aka chi, a waste of resources. abandoned, becos if was not planned. no after thought of what it would be , how to commercialize it etc. The only point i will not take away from Rochas, would be the expansion of the state capital, which is simply done by building roads ( very very substandard roads to connect areas of the state . same could have been replicated in the other towns in the state orlu and okigwe to help spurn developement in those areas too. 1 Like |

Airlines abroad will probably never have to put down any of their direct money to buy planes, it all goes through a bank financing. Even Emirate who previously operated the plane only leased it. If only our banks had lower interest rate this airline could approach a bank to finance the deal. Imagine Innocent VS GTB where initial business loan was at about 36% . Interest rate in many western countries is at 0.5 %. - 3%. I don't blame the bank entirely , Nigerian business men can be irresponsible. See Aero, Arik, despite government patronage, the ran the business down, simply forget the loan from banks ought to be repaid. Then imagine where mobile telecom company is going bust . Only in naija. Oando is in similar situation Globacom unable to renew their license in benin republic. Only God know what their health is in Nigeria. I won't be surprise if NNPC declares Bankrupt tomorrow. Or CBN. |

That nobody talks about it, does not mean it is not in existence. There are professional escort services all over Nigeria. ‘People and Places’ took a sneak peek into one of these agencies; well, they claimed to be a charity and a directory, simply known as ‘Codedruns’, a top online escort directory. The directory specializes in providing companionship for men, and sometimes women who are willing and able to afford quality time with members of the opposite sex. The management revealed that the site receives 1.9 million visitors from Nigeria monthly. By far the biggest escort directory in the country, the ease of ordering an escort is just like Taxify and Uber complete with a review system. The website of the directory, www.codedruns, to be honest is well designed, you get the feeling the people behind this business are not messing about. We scanned through a few profiles and decided to get direct views of the registered escorts. The first escort we spoke to, who didn’t want her name mentioned revealed that the site is god-sent as they escorts don’t have to stand by the road side any longer, under harsh weather conditions to ply their trade, as they now run their business online. “A client will typically browse the site and find who he fancies, then sends a message to know if we are available and then we negotiate the cost. We prefer hotels or residential homes in choice parts of town. We also offer in-call as well – whereby customers can visit and engage us in our houses.” Most of the escorts we spoke to said they make an average of one hundred and fifty thousand naira and two hundred and fifty thousand naira weekly. The later when they (escorts) subscribe for premium and appear on the front page. However, they revealed that some clients can be naughty and want to cut on the agreed price, but majority are nice gentlemen. The website also have blacklisted clients, which warns escorts of reported dangerous clients or ‘osho free’ client, as well as blacklisted escorts to warn clients of fraudulent escorts. Our most shocking revelation was with Queen, a premium escort who revealed that she used to be a banker but resigned when she learnt of the directory. “I used to earn forty thousand naira monthly at the bank, which required travelling around Lagos looking to sell bank products to already frustrated people; and getting molested, and sexually abused on numerous occasions. Truly, people don’t know what these marketers see, yet the bank managers are never happy nor grateful, but now I make that amount in two days as an escort on the site. The secret is to ensure your profile is on the front page by subscribing to the weekly premium and Feature service.” she said. On skimming through the website, we found a contact number and decided to reach out to the admin to ask a burning question on our minds. We got hold of who appeared to be the site admin; a well-spoken gentleman- Mr Jeff, and proceeded to ask the question if such a site doesn’t promote prostitution? He quickly replied, with a well-rehearsed statement saying: “Look guys, we don’t do that, in fact we see our establishment as a charity; protecting the lives and working conditions of “Working girls” and guys.” “We don’t charge a penny for registration for both escorts and none escorts, registration is absolutely free. We don’t recommend or solicit any escort for clients nor do we solicit or recommend clients for escorts. We don’t take any commission or cuts on “tributes” paid to any escort for their “time”. “The men and women who pay escorts are not paying for sex but rather are paying the escorts tributes for their time. Whatever then happens between two consenting adults behind closed doors is their prerogative. So do note it, we are a charity, a directory, a listing, but never an Escort Agency!” We then decided to get a feel of this website. On registering as a female “independent escort”, complete with an overtly sexualized female photos, we headed back to the office to make our report. Within the 45 minutess trip back to the office, our glamorous profile on the site had received 150 views and over two dozen phone calls. In 45 minutes! This is truly astonishing, if this experience is a snapshot of the rate by which Nigerians have become sexualized. And just wonder, how many of those dozen callers are married men? https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/02/codedruns-new-trend-escorts-patrons-revealed/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/02/codedruns-new-trend-escorts-patrons-revealed/
