FCE & FUNAAB Commands of Man O' War Nigeria carries out Community Service, Calls for more of Youth participation in Volunteering On Thursday 15th July 2021, officers of the Federal University of Agriculture & Federal College of Education, Osiele carried out a selfless community service along the Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway by spreading granite on some bad portions of the road. The granite which was supplied by a Quarry company which plies the road was used to fill up some failed portions of the road in front of the Vehicle Inspection Office in Kotopo, Abeokuta. In his words, the Coordinator in Chief of the FUNAAB Command of the Man O' War, Patriot Orebajo Abimbola said, we cant wait for the government to fix everything for us, we understand that this road is a major road which serves 3 major federal government parastatals and others, so our little contribution is geared towards easing free flow of traffic on this road. Also speaking, the Coordinator in Chief of the Federal College of Education, Osiele Command Patriot Adisa Taiwo Olawale also called for more active participation of Youths in community oriented volunteering activities to develop our respective communities. Also present on ground were past Coordinators & members of Man O' War of both institutions to render technical support among whom include, Mr. Faniyi Abiola, Mr Adekunle Kehinde, Mr. Atanda Oluwaranti and a host of others. Mr. Akindina Michael who is a staff of the Federal College of Education, Osiele and also a one time Coordinator of the club used the opportunity to call the attention of necessary authorities to help in saving the road before it breaks down completely. Crime Reduction: Ogun CP seeks MAN O' WAR Cooperation Ogun Police Commissioner, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu, has urged Man O’ War members to step up their activities towards crime reduction in higher institutions in the state. Iliyasu made this call on Wednesday 15th November at the 29th Passing Out Parade of the Man O’ War, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Command. He stated that the association had played a key role by supporting other security agencies in maintaining peace through its activities within the State. The Commissioner, who was represented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Obantoko, Mrs Veronica Osakwe, advised the outgoing members of the club to always be diligent and operate with the fear of God. “We should do everything to maintain a crime free area so that our area is habitable for everyone, also all hands must be on deck as we approach the yuletide. “The association has a role to play in maintaining peace and orderliness within this period,’’ he said. In his remarks, the Coordinator-in-Chief, Man O’ War, FUNAAB, Patriot Lekan Adefolahan, said the graduating members had been made to be aware of their potentials in preparation for greater challenges in life. Adefolahan noted that the Patriots had acquired knowledge that would make them to be responsible and reliable citizens. “We also assisted in maintaining orderliness during the university functions like inaugural lecture, matriculation and convocation ceremonies,” he said. He solicited for support from the University management, Council of War Marshalls and Statesmen in other to procure some gadgets that would further boost the activities of the club. Dr. Akeem Adekola, Registrar, FUNAAB, commended the association for its role at maintaining peace on campus, adding that the management of the institution would render necessary support for the club. Also present at the event was the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. T. A Shittu, War Marshals of the club, Statesmen, Coordinators from other institutions across the Southwest Region of Nigeria, Representative of the State Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, The representative of the Director, State Security Services, the Representative of the Commander, Vigilante Service of Ogun State and the State Commander of the Nigerian Immigration Services Comptroller Bayeroju represented by ASI II O. O Taiwo who advised the club members to keep up the good work and also said his organization is ready to work with the MAN O' WAR. Highlights of the program were match past, presentation of certificates, induction of new members and decoration of new set of officers to pilot activities of the next administration.

FUNAAB Appoints New Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar The Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, has approved the appointment of three new Principal Officers, in substantive capacities, for the University. The Principal Officers-designates are: Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Hakeem Adebola Adekola, Registrar; and Mr. Chukwunwike Ezekpeazu, Bursar.According to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University, Dr. (Barr.) Aboki Zhawa, “The process was guided by rules, regulations and the Act (establishing the University). We were guided by provisions of the Act, the rules of the University and Federal Character. We, as a Council, decided to set up the committee that will do the screening for theCouncil. It was after screening that the Technical Committee was mandated to look at the applicants; to see if they have complied with the spirit of the advertisement. The Technical Committee came up with a good list and they presented to the Selection Board. Having looked at the list, we made a recommendation to the Council and it approved the list and the other recommendations that were submitted”.The Vice-Chancellor-designate, Professor Felix Salako, was born in Lagos State in 1961 and hails from Ibadan, Oyo State. A Professor of Soil Physics in the Department of Soil Science and Land Management, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT) of the University, he attended the famous Igbobi College, Lagos; the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained his B. Agric (Hons) and M.Sc degrees in Soil Science in 1983 and 1986, respectively before proceeding to the University of Ibadan, where he bagged his PhD Degree in Soil Science, in 1997.Professor Salako joined the services of FUNAAB in 2000 as a senior Lecturer and moved up the academic ladder to become a Professor in 2006. He had served the University on many fronts, which include: Head of Department, Soil Science and Land Management; Director, Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre; Pioneer Director, Centre for community based farming Scheme and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, for two terms. He has to his credit, over 80 publications in books/monographs, articles in learned journals, papers in referred conference proceedings and technical reports. He had equally supervised more than 50 students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to being external examiners to several notable universities.Professor Salako belongs to a number of professional associations and learned societies such as the International Society of Agricultural Meteorology; Soil Science Society of Nigeria; Agricultural Society of Nigeria; Soil and Water Conservation Society, United States of Americaand had delivered papers at many local and international conferences, seminars and workshops. Notable academic laurels won by him include the Best Student Prize in Soil Science (1982 - 1983) Graduating Set of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the Marquis' Who-is-Who in Science and Engineering (8th Edition) and Chief War Marshall, Man O’ War Club of Nigeria. He is currently the Southwestern Nigeria Co-ordinator (2016-2021), African Cassava Agronomy Initiative, taking Agronomy to Scale in Sub-Saharan Africa (ACAI) for the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria; a project that has impacted the University and the society at large. Professor Salako, a Jerusalem Pilgrim, was honoured with the chieftaincy titles of the Asoludero of Iwoye-Ketu and the Bobatolu of Isaga-Orile; Ogun State, in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of the two communities, among other laurels.The Registrar-designate, Dr. Hakeem Adekola, was born in Lagos on January 12, 1968, is a native of Ogun Waterside, Ogun State. He attended Community High School, Ibiade, Ogun State for his secondary education, between 1980 and 1985. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History; Master of Personnel Psychology and a Doctorate Degree in Applied Psychology (Personnel Psychology option), from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, in 1989, 1997 and 2006, respectively. He was employed as an Administrative Officer II by the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in September 1991. He rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Registrar in October 2007 in the same university. He was later appointed as the Pioneer Registrar of the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State in 2007 and served out his tenure on April 30, 2012.Dr. Adekola’s work experience has transversed different aspects of university administration such as faculty offices, senate affairs, academic planning units, committees and the vice-chancellor’s office. He belongs to several professional bodies, including the Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA); Association of American University Administrators,United Kingdom (AUA,UK); Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) of Nigeria; and Chartered Institute of Civilian Administration,Ghana (CIDA, Ghana), among others. He has attended many local andinternational conferences and has to his credit, several academic, professional publications as well as teaching experiences. Until his appointment, he was the Deputy Registrar-in-Charge of Senate Affairs at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.The Bursar-designate, Mr. Chukwunwike Ezekpeazu, was born on February 2, 1960 in Onitsha, Anambra State. He attended popular Christ the King College, Onitsha; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained both his B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Accountancy and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) Banking and Finance in 1981 and 2005, respectively. He has a robust career in accounting, having attended many conferencesin his field of specialisation.He belongs to leading professional associations and institutes such as the Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA); and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI); among others. New Officers of the Man O’ War have been decorated in the University. They include Professor Adewale Dipeolu of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) and the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS), who was appointed as the new Deputy Grand War Marshal of the Man O’ War, FUNAAB Command. The elevation and dressing was done during the ‘Dressing Day’ ceremony, organised by the Club, to honour Statesmen and inaugurate new War Marshals. During the occasion, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ololade Enikuomehin, who was represented by the immediate past Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju, appreciated the services of FUNAAB Man O’ War in the University, most especially, during the various ceremonies. He charged members not to rest on their oars and assured them of the University’s continued support. Professor Dipeolu was decorated with the new rank of Deputy Grand War Marshal, as he took over from Professor Segun Lagoke, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) and a former Deputy Grand War Marshal, who had retired from the services of the University. The Dean, College of Biological Sciences (COLBIOS), Professor David Agboola, was decorated as Chief War Marshal while 16 statesmen and members of staff of the University, were also decorated as War Marshals. Some of those honoured include Dr. Olubunmi Ashimolowo, Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (AERD), College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD); Dr. Christopher Alake, Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT); Mr. Roland Iyeh, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS); Mrs. Adeola Salami, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET); Mr. Mike Ogunji, Department of Physics, College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS); Mr. Charles Geteloma, Directorate of Public Relations (DPR); and Mr. Adeoye Adeniyi, Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), among others. Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Taofik Shittu; the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bello Tajudeen; the Representative of Lagos State Commander of the Man O’ War; the Controller of Prisons, Ogun State, represented by Mr. Charles Akande; the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, represented by Mr. Peter Adepoju; the Commander Vigilante Service Ogun State, represented by Mr. Oluwasanya Adeniyi; the Commander, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), represented by Commander Teslim Adedeji; members of the different para-military; para-medic and voluntary organisations on campus such as the Road Safety Club, Red Cross, Boys Brigade as well as students. As part of the club's mission which is to help in building the community, members of MAN O WAR Nigeria, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Command has carried out a selfless Cmmunity Development Service at Emere Village, Camp at Abeokuta. The members marched down to the remote village To help in providing partial repair to a damaged portion of one of the major roads in the village. While receiving and thanking the Club members, the Chairman of the Community in person of Pastor Onadeko thanked and appreciated the club members for their kind gesture. In his words also, the Chief Imam of Owu kingdom, Alh.Akorede Kehinde thanked the club members and prayed for them. Thereafter, the then Coordinator in Chief of the Club, Patriot Alao Tomilola said the Club carried out the service as part of the Mission of the Organization, he also tasked youths on not waiting for the government to do everything for them.
