The op was paid by gtb or first bank to rubbish zenith bank. there is no time you can be given a fake note in such standard bank. the op is a liar.
but all thanks to nairaland, the community of fake news.
I'm very sure you work in that branch...
here is a snapshot of the mail I recieved from Gtbank pertaining the fake currency after I mailed them too.
GTB told me via the mail to sort it out with the bank.

Few months ago, I withdrew some cash at the ATM in Access Bank Ado-Ekiti, from the notes, there was a #1000 that had cut off from one corner, I reported to the security, they asked for witness, lol, and I was the only one withdrawing that day, no one behind me, it was 4pm, couldn't go into the Bank, I was told to come the next day.
I did, but they didn't help inside the bank, they said they are gonna call me, if they see the other part of the torn currency in the ATM because ATM (at that moment) it was full.

I couldn't use the money, people kept rejecting it, till I sold it at #500 to someone.
It was annoying.
surprisingly, After posting this on my facebook wall some of my friends have also had their own fair share

Bros sorry for the lost,

The reason why they said that is before ATM is load with cash they are always sorted and if the currency is fake it will be detected at that point before cash loading.
So they said but I know there was an error somewhere from them...
either human error or computer error.
It's really painful knowing I'm paying for a bank's error.
I intend closing the account I operate with them as soon as I get back to Lagos

I'm afraid you have no proof that the fake money came from their ATM. Had it been that you noticed before leaving the premises and notifying the seciriity, maybe they would have done something about it. They are not liable for any error once you leave their premises. I've been short paid N2,500 from 3 withdrawals in first bank lagos island ATM. It was when I got home that I realised this, I just had to bear the loss because i had zero proof about the ATM activitu. Had it been that I counted the money before leaving the ATM point, I would have notified the bank immediately. Sorry about your loss, May God replace it in multiples
This happened last night and there was no way I would have detected it ontime.
I was about buying something when I noticed the money looked strange.
I really felt embarrassed as everyone in the banking hall thought I fabricated the story even when I know I was telling the truth

Itz a pity. Theres absolutely nothing you can do.
Next time , be very observant when collecting money from the Atm and make sure you have witness there to support your claim
This is totally unfair...
how would I know when it was late?
We were meant to believe the chances of an ATM dispensing a fake Note is as good as Zero.
BusinessFake 1000 Naira Note From Zenith Bank, Dutse Alhaji Branch In Abuja by mactoni91(op): 12:41pm On Sep 07, 2017
Goodday Nairalanders,
I have heard tales of customers being paid fake notes by ATMs but never believed it will someday happen to me.
To cut the story short, I travelled to Abuja for an Interview some days back which ended on tuesday.
Last night at 8:05pm, I went to Zenith bank's 3rd ATM at Dusten Alhaji to withdraw the last 1,000naira in my GTb account (Last four digits of my card 4713) only for me to notice this morning that the money was fake. I went back to the bank to report not quite long and was told by one modupe who obviously was incharge of cash that there was no way the Atm would pay me a fake currency(At a point she was rude to me).
She later directed me to their H.O.P who also stood his ground that there is nothing they can do and that I have to bear the loss.
Pls nairalanders, how do I get my money back because I am very convinced that the machine gave me the fake note as I do not have any cash on me before the withdrawal and after the withdrawal, I only had the same 1,000 naira on me.
I didn't buy anything that would make me think the money was swapped.
Below are the images of the fake currency
