Get over Johnny? Why would I want to? I didn't notice him in the 90s. There were too many matinee idols and muscle-bound action figures who stole your heart with the thunder of bullets and perfect dropkicks. grin

Hammer House of Horror! cheesy British and yet, terrifying.
That lie lie A Team. grin 'BOSS' will lock them up in a barn filled only with hay and nails and donkeys and the next thing they have manufactured a tractor from those ingredients. Best lie-lie team of the 80s. cheesy

Karma! You sly thing! grin Why on earth are you Dereloaded now? At least it wasn't KarmaReloaded. grin
His acting in Pursuit was really great. I wasn't at all surprised he got an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. What happened to this guy? Time was anything he starred in tickled. So he was bent on saving the world most of the time, but at least he showed you a good time. The Wachowski Brothers even offered him the role of Neo in the Matrix, but he turned it down.

iice:
I think the story of Pursuit impressed me more than his acting.  The story added to his acting, so people get confused, think it's the other way round.

Yeah he sorts of divides himself, his heart, his eyes blah blah.
Don't even remember if he caused the accident or he just heaped the guilt on his head undecided
I don't know about stupid, but i think he should have let fate decide who his body parts go to, not finding people 'worthy' of his flesh - like it's made of gold or something undecided
grin I will keep piling them up and add many names to mine tongue
And you say the movie isn't stupid? His EYES?Ohh. No wonder he was haranguing an unconvincingly blind Harrelson at the start.
Keep piling em up you polyandrous weirdo.  grin
TV/MoviesRe: Blood Diamond ($$) by MadMax1(f): 3:38pm On Apr 01, 2009

TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood: Favourite Movies, Actors and Awards. Tinseltown reviews & Gossip by MadMax1(op): 3:30pm On Apr 01, 2009
His performance in Pursuit didn't impress you? I mean, really?

iice:
He had an accident years back. 7 people died and he survived.
Of course he felt like dying, but before doing that, he had to find a way to replace the 7 lives lost.
So he goes on a mission to find people who are 'worthy' of his 7 pounds of flesh.
His acting was dreadful jare. I thought i was gonna fall into a coma watching the movie.
Hehehehehe, and the men keep piling up grin
Dreadful-sounding plot. Did he kill the seven that died or what? His seven pounds of flesh? He divides himself into seven pieces for seven people or what? The whole thing sounds stupid.

And take your claws out of Shreiber. How many guys already? Leave something for other women na. Ah-han!
TV/MoviesRe: Blood Diamond ($$) by MadMax1(f): 2:57pm On Apr 01, 2009

You and Shreiber again? shocked That makes how many? I've always thought the guy an undertapped talent. He's a really good actor.Even his stint on CSI was memorable.

Will Smith is halfway to losing me as a fan. The only reason I keep an eye on his movies is to catch another performance like The Pursuit of Happyness.Doesn't look like it'll happen. Gimme the skinny on Seven Pounds so I know what happened without punishing my eyeballs.

Caught a few minutes of Defiance. Shreiber had the the accent down pat.Craig struggles with his. I tried really hard to watch Seven Pounds, but kept getting bored. It doesn't really look promising and I'm done watching shitty movies.

TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood: Favourite Movies, Actors and Awards. Tinseltown reviews & Gossip by MadMax1(op): 2:31pm On Mar 31, 2009
He might have left because he was guilty. He might have left because he had a shady past where he'd been guilty of those things and it would convict him now, though he was innocent this time around.

He might have been guilty. He might also have been innocent. Each sister represents each facet. He explains all his actions, including the shirt. He might have been lying. He might have been telling the truth. That's the import of Streep's powerful final words, and why the movie ends with those words. They pull the rug of certainty from under your feet, and leave you with doubt. He was sleeping with boys at the school? You really think a movie would be nominated for Best Picture for belabouring the obvious?
TV/MoviesRe: Hollywood: Favourite Movies, Actors and Awards. Tinseltown reviews & Gossip by MadMax1(op): 1:17pm On Mar 31, 2009
That was putting it nicely?He-he.
He might have assaulted little boys in the past, but in the case of the black boy he might have been innocent; he might have been trying to help the boy, exactly as he'd told the other sister, who believed him. But if Streep made a case against him his past would convict him and he'd be found guilty. So he opts to give in and leave instead. When Streep breaks down and confesses she had doubts, she meant he might have been innocent, not of his past misdemeanors, but of the one she accused him of.
You thought he was guilty? It's likely, but I wasn't sure anymore after Streep confessed her doubt.

Oh yeah. Bad fairy  cheesy.I was hooked from the first minute. Yeah, I liked Chicago. My fav number was Queen Latifah's actually. But Moulin Rouge revived a moribund musical genre, and is fantastically unique. How could Chicago win Best Picture when Moulin could not, when the latter inspired every musical after itself. There was method in Moulin's madness. Unrewarded genius grieves me.

Finally saw Doubt. Good movie. Very good dialogue: Meryl's scene with the black mother is delicious. The end came out of nowhere and I was like, wth? Perfect title; after being borne along on Streep's tide of unshakable certainty the movie leaves you with nothing but.

Serial cradle-snatcher. You used that poor girl, period. Now you've got what you want and she can't do a thing right. "The papers were only a bonus". See his stupid hyena mouth. The whole point of your stupid post is what? Make you feel better about being pond scum?

Yeah, the yeye gal was just silly eye candy. LeBouf keeps impressing me though. And to think the guy never went to acting school. Liked that 'car' of his: correct Transformer guy, totally in tune with the boy's horniness and trying to help. grin
Ewan Macgregor is the central character, leaving a privileged existence to become a penniless writer in pursuit of Freedom, Beauty,Truth and Love in the absinthe-soaked Bohemian quarters of Paris. Words cannot capture Baz Luhrmann's genius here, and I will NEVER forgive the Oscars that this movie did not get Best Picture. Please watch it. It's demented and funny and heartbreaking and uplifting, and unlike anything you've ever seen before.

spikedcylinder:
Its not better than Slumdog, its just as good as slumdog on a different dimension. Does that make any sense? huh
Sure. They're different movies and excellent in different ways. Must see that Doubt today.

IMO Doubt is way better than Slumdog.
Really?Why'd you think so?

Doubt was nominated for Best Picture, right? Is it better than Slumdog?

You compare Sweeney Todd to Moulin Rouge? The horror. shocked I made myself sit through Sweeney only for Depp. Another actor and I would have abandoned it halfway through.I didn't really like it. But I swear Moulin Rouge is FANTASTIC. It's absolutely my favourite musical in the world! Ewan Macgregor is its entral character; Kidman only plays his love interest. You don't want to miss that wonderful villain, The Count. You don't want to miss Jim Broadbent's demented, energetic,oscar-winning performance. I know movies, and this movie is genius.I promise you won't be sorry.

Maybe my brothers can recall Transfomers cartoons.I cant.Megan Fox didn't seem capable of existing without pouting or parting her lips in the movie. She got the Jolie thing down so pat they offered her Tomb Raider 3.You sound like you still play with those Transformers toys. Do you?  cheesy

Specifics would be nice. Still, you know all this how? What are your sources, if you don't mind my asking? The power of God controls evolution.Hmmm.The thought that a species might have evolved mechanisms to deal with and adapt to its environment disturbs me not at all. But that's as far as I go with evolution. I don't believe human beings evolved from some industrious single-celled organism. Did we evolve a spirit as well? You believe God created man by evolution, don't you?
All the unsolved mysteries of science will be solved if science goes beyond studying the manifestation of Nature but also studies the power that is the manifestation and makes the manifestation possible in the first place. How on earth can science study the power that makes the manifestation possible in the first place? Physics studies the interactions of energy with matter, biology studies the minute processes of life and death, and chemistry studies the chemical properties of substances. Most scientist don't even believe in the existence of a 'power'.

The Grail Message's sort of your holy book, isn't it? I mean, in the sense of a publication that outlines one's religious beliefs. I mentioned I read it in my teens. Some parts were very intriguing, others were patently unconvincing.I only have dim recall. But I vaguely recollect the author lectures you but cites few sources and authorities himself. He teaches but appears to expect one to take his word for it,on a number of issues. I'm not sure any man has the right to demand so much of others.

I read someplace we only use 10% or so of our brain.I amuse myself imagining what the other whopping 90% is capable of. Superhuman feats that are superhuman only because they'd be new, but if we'd been using a 100% per cent all along, would be pedestrian? Sometimes I think there are aspects of the unaccesed 90% that would enable us to plainly see and interact with the spirit world. Perhaps synapses misfired and some 'insane' people were merely pushed into unknown brain territory. After all, 'sanity' and 'insanity' are slippery concepts. Carl Jung, who knew first hand there's a spirit world because he experimented so much with it, wrote Psychology and the Occult. He made a remarkable statement: That some of his personal, very real and solid experiences of the spirit world is dark matter found only in the insane, the stuff of psychosis.

I'm digressing. What are your thoughts on aliens and UFOs? Do you think were the only form of 'life' in the universe?Perhaps there's life out there that isn't carbon based. You know, life forms stranger than anything we can imagine. The Bible didn't say humans were the only beings he made, and the universe is certainly large enough. We only know the tiniest fraction of the Milky Way,our galaxy. There are untold billions of galaxies in the universe. Is there some unfallen race out there? Are there fallen races that float like balloons and exist on, oh I don't know, wooficus biscuits? Would they need salvation too? Of course you can't say for sure. Or can you? But your thoughts would be nice.

Only saw Transformers recently. Had a surprisisngly good time until those car things started to talk. Dialogue went downhill from there.Don't hurt the humans. Don't hurt a hair on their precious heads sad. Lame. Except for Labeouf's car, the villains were way cooler. I cannot believe you placed Kidman in the same category as Biel. shocked When she's in the right material, which is dark stuff, Kidman is outstanding. Ah-han! You've seen Moulin Rouge, Dogville, and The Hours, haven't you? No you don't deserve to see those. Take your sacrilegious eyeballs to Van Damme,Dolph Lungren and Jet Li movies instead. tongue
