I hope Palmer's doesn't contain hydroquinone. If it does, don't use it extensively. The 'chest pimples' are likely just breakouts from stress. It's very common with doctors and other professionals in high-pressure environments. It clears off by itself. The body often heals itself. You just help it with a good diet. But you can go thru the thread for the pages where pimples and blemishes were discussed. @princess. Nivea naturally even is a good fade for the body. Maybe Makari caviar face cream for the face after the burn heals. Avon face cream is superb, but hard to find.@soye. There's no getting out of seeing a dermatologist. He'll take a look and know precisely what to recommend. In the meantime cover face overnight every night for at least six weeks with a mix of local shea butter and raw aloe vera. It's important to avoid sun and eat tons of fruits and vegetables to help your skin heal itself. Use a gentle moisturiser on your face, one with no lightening ingredients whatsoever.

The previous was for gedilez, baby. I can't recommend a fade cream for you, as I don't know what kind of oil or burn it was. I'll just take it like an ordinary burn, shall I? Honey heals skin. Mix honey and red oil and apply on the spot every night overnight for two weeks. You can't use fade cream on a burn. It needs to heal. Dry skin. I hear Olay Quench is great for dry skin. There are different kinds. Perhaps you might try the Quench that richly moisturises and removes spots and blemishes at the same time. Saw it once while buying moisturiser. I'm sure it's available locally as well.

How're you doing, girl? The only thing that darkens skin is the sun. There is no cosmetic ingredient that can darken your skin. The more you expose your skin to the sun, the more melanin is produced on your skin, and the darker you get. A sunscreen is essential. Or a small pretty umbrella whenever you're outdoors. Toners just deep-clean your skin and unclog your pores, stuff like ten-o-six,etc. Since your skin is uneven you could use a fade cream for two months so you're the same colour all over, then stop and go back to your regular lotion. But protect your skin from sun. I'm trying to think of a product that's available here. Nivea Naturally Even might work. It's pocket friendly. Make sure it's original, the cream not the lotion. Use twice daily. When your skin is even, stop. Any good fade cream is fine, any good UK Or US product. Don't buy made in italy, france, etc. Likely fake. Use the toner in the evenings, face and neck with a cotton bud. Then your cream. Don't apply the fade cream to your legs. Only the rest of your body. Palmers sounds fine. See if you can get Jergens shea butter lotion though. When your body is the same tone as your legs, stop the fade cream .Don't forget to drink a lot of water and eat fresh fruit. Avoid excessive sugar. Don't worry. Your skin'll go back to its radiant self.

I just saw a bar indicating my response to FLOS's question, recommending microdermabrasion, is hidden. It's an old post and the lady must have thought I did not answer. I don't understand why posts should be hidden. Girl, you're correct. Almost all the Jergens available locally are fake. If you managed to get an original pls post the store so others can find it. Princess, I don't get your problem. What's sunburn? You might tend to sunburn if your skin is caucasian, especially if you're a redhead. You say Sunburn from an oil? I really don't know much about chemical burns. A dermatologist might help.

No idea, mizruby.
Gedilez, you poor thing, there's just no way to get out of going through the whole thread. All your skin issues have been dealt with. You'll find different solutions. Just pick what works for you. You haven't been taking care of your skin, you don't even moisturise, you say. Of course you'll have skin issues. Your legs are probably lighter because they don't get as much sun as the other parts of your skin.
You need to start moisturising your skin. A simple lotion like Jergens or a neutrogena product will do. Oil-free prodcut. Pimples and skin discolourations have been dealt with. Go thru the thread. You poor thing. Stress causes breakouts too, so you might want to take it easy at work. And you might need a toner like ten-o-six because of the oily skin. You can also make your own toner by mixing four parts water to 1 part alcohol.
Don't fret. You'll be fine. Your skin will resolve its issues if you give it help.

hello mad_max, pease i have these scars which is bothering me, on ma legs. i read about the rejuveness and silicon sheets and i need to have them. pliz how can i get them. am in nigeria. thanks

No idea, girl. Heard about it on the thread. Meanwhile you could try microdermabrasion.

Soak the skin in water for 10 minutes. Tub or shower. Then apricot scrub+aloe vera on the spots and scrub with a skin brush for three minutes.

Or use salt on a moist face towel to scrub, but be gentle so you don't take off too much skin. Before lasers they used salt to remove tattoos! Two minutes if it's salt.

Do it 5 to 8 times a month--NOT MORE.Skin needs to heal--for 6 months. Works for stretch marks too.

Blum, you might aalso add Achebe's A Man of the People, The Man Died by Soyinka, A Grain of Wheat by Wa Thiongo, Perpetua and the Habit of Unhappiness by Mongo Beti, The Famished Road by Ben Okri, and The Life and Times of Michael K. The last two books are Booker Prize winners. The three countries that issue Africa's best writing are Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. Look for excellent authors from those countries.

If you had such grave reservations about jehovah's witnesses, why date the girl in the first place? You figured you'd do precisely what you're doing now? You sound like a control freak and chauvinist, as has been pointed out to you, but of course you can't be expected to see that. You're very blasé about going thru her phone messages. You declare it as a matter of course, with nary a blush. It's evident the girl is as conflicted as you. But you're not really interested in how she feels, in reaching a solution that works for you both. No. After choosing the girl, knowing her religious affiliation, you're on a crusade to have things entirely your own way, and get people to agree with you that you're doing right. I almost feel sorry for her.

Religion / Re: Do You Find The Existence Of God Threatening? by MadMax1(f): 8:38pm On Jul 23, 2011
Homer:

I don't see what the big deal is in calling theistic ideas delusional. What has so far been presented as evidence for most of the theistic Gods are really nothing more than wishful thinking or cultural indoctrination.

Sorry but I don't think they're both equally valid outlooks. As you've said above, one of them is more rational based on the information we have than the other.
Also, atheism isn't a religious stance. If anything, it is against a stance usually borne in religions.

No evidence has been advanced against the existence of God either. That doesn't mean atheists should be insulted. Though we still don't know the origins of life, natural selection is a brilliant, elegant explanation for the complexity of biological life, an alternative to ancient creation myths. It's a breath of fresh air, but it has nothing to do with God. Atheism is a religious stance. What other kind of stance is it, an economic one? You don't see the big deal in calling people who don't share your beliefs delusional? Speaks volumes.

There are thousands of Gods across many cultures worldwide. Why aren't adherents of these Gods fighting evolution?Because the theoy of evolution came out of the American and European traditions, so only their God feels threatened by it. Indian and Chinese and African Gods don't care, and aren't bothered by evolutionary theories. I'm not suggesting atheism is more rational than theism, only that it's logic is easier to follow.

Some atheists keep going beyond the facts. Thinking atheists don't arrogantly dismiss a Maker. The sum total of all human knowledge simply isn't enough for that. What atheists- the ones I take seriously anyhow- dismiss are the Gods that the convenional religions insist on shoving down people's throats. Theism makes far more sense to many than atheism, otherwise atheists wouldn't be a tiny minority. A theist can accept atheism as valid because there are no ways to determine the 'right' or 'wrong' of religious outlooks; it's all entirely subjective, it's all personal experience and opinion. A person simply has a right to belief or non-belief and neither is 'better' than the other. Both are valid, as there are no universal measures for these things.
Religion / Re: Do You Find The Existence Of God Threatening? by MadMax1(f): 5:58pm On Jul 21, 2011
phxc:

To say that it is glaring that there is a super intelligent creator behind the universe is taking an assumption and turning it into a fact. There could have been a committee of gods that came up with the idea of the universe, or the universe is one big computer program run by a couple of aliens, or the universe was made by a pair of elephant like entities we cannot begin to comprehend. Fact is, there are many possibilities on how the universe came about but to take one of those possibilities (Creator God) and parrot it as fact without proof is an exercise in deception. So it is the height of delusion to claim that there is a God without evidence to back it up.

I sort of agree with most of this. But there is a patronising tendency for atheists to bandy the word 'delusion' about with regards to theists. It's superior and irritating. You've decided it's the 'height of delusion' to claim there's a God without 'evidence'. But there is no univesal consensus as to what that evidence should be. Different individuals and groups have different definitions as to what should constitute evidence for God, depending on where they're coming from.

Theism and atheism are equally valid world outlooks. We should just respect the other's stand on religion and leave it be. It's not hard to understand why people would be atheists. It makes more sense than theism, in a way, and is certainly more rational than the menu most of the world's religions give you to choose from. But atheism is not the only thing that makes sense; it's not the be-all and end-all of religious stances and opinionating.

There are HUNDREDS of products on the thread, none containing hydroquinone.  You noticed there are strong warnings against it and other bad ingredients but went rhgough 21 pages of good products looking for the only glancing reference to hydroquinone in a product. I wasn't reviewing or recommending Obagi to anyone there, but was just making a remark. You're funny.
Education / Re: Lagos State Outlaws Flogging Of Students & Apprentices. by MadMax1(f): 3:58pm On Jul 08, 2011
Any study linking youth pregnancy and crime to a dearth of flogging? There are different kinds of people with different temperaments and outlooks so we all have different upbringings. There is no 'we' that have a culture of 'strict' upbringing, and family values have nothing to do with flogging. A child is smaller than you and more vulnerable and will act like a child. It doesn't fall within the purview of a teacher to 'discipline' a child. His only job is to teach, nothing more. Any kind of disciplinary measure is the responsibility of the parents. The child will pass through the school in a while, but will remain the child of his parents for life.

Many of these teachers are sadists. A little power makes people a little mad and we always abuse it. It's not their job to 'discipline' a child, whatever that means. If the child is unruly the parents are told to see to it. Persistent bad behavior and the school will advise the parents to withdraw that child. By the time three or more schools have expelled that kid no one will tell hisparents to take him in hand, no one will tell him to behave himself.

Ghana has done this experiment successfully for decades, and that success is there for the world to see. No beating kids like animals and their educational system is far better than ours with all our flogging, and their society is far better and less corrupt than ours. You see figures showing the evil effects of the practice on kids and people are still yelling for it like it's crack. No wonder we don't progress as a country. It's a fantastic thing Fashola has done, and one hopes other governors will emulate the move.

Lol. No, there's not one thing recommended here that contains hydroquinone. There are warnings through the thread for ladies to steer clear of that. Have heard serious complaints from people I know about some Makari products, esp the Lightening Milk. The Caviar Face Cream is a good product though, and the only Makari product I can recommend. If you've dark skin you're lucky. Glossy, smooth, flawless black skin is very, very beautiful to me. I envy my dark-skinned friends and they know it. I'd trade for it in an instant. Instead of lightening it, bring out the spectacular beauty of dark skin with good nutrition, water, exercise and sunscreen.

teetee2, buy Jergens only if you're not in the country. The country's overrun with fake Jergens products. It's almost impossible to get the real deal. Please stop using it if you're reacting to something in it. It's very likely fake.

Try AVEENO daily moisturiser or NEUTROGENA BODY OIL, Sesame seed oil. Or AVON skin so soft. They're excellent moisturisers. There's no need to add a thing. If it's Aveeno, check the bottom of the jar. It should have 'made in canada', a production and expiry date stamped on it.
Religion / Re: The Emerging Conversation by MadMax1(f): 12:14pm On Jun 30, 2011
Learned something new here. America's right wing conservatives have unfairly become something of a joke, not least because of their leaders, hypocritical self-righteous emblems of hate and intolerance.  People like Pat Robertson and his sickly-smiling army of extreme right-wingers. People like the repulsive Ann Coulter. People like Ted Haggard, who attacked g.a.y men for years, only to be exposed as a meth-chogging secret h.o.m.o. se.xu.al himself. And this was a pastor who had the usual plastic 'happy Christian family', millions of followers and the runty ears of then-president George W Bush.  Their Nigerian clones are just as bad, very likely worse.

Didn't know a new Christian movement had been baptised 'Emergent Church.' So, so, so right about it getting politicised later, or becoming what they say they're running from. Still, hearing it exists at all is a real breath of fresh air.

Cmanforall's experience is interesting. But he's the only one who knows what he saw. He was the only one who saw it. He was not seeking the experience. He was not chanting Hu. He was in church. It would seem he'd grown spiritually to the extent that such experiences are the next natural step for him. But, ben, that's not how it works for you. You have to chant Hu, yes? It's a sort of key or trigger that opens a door, irrespective of where you're coming from spiritually. Millions of people have spiritual experiences without seeking them, and without any kind of prop. I would suppose that to be a little different from its opposite, I would suppose different processes to open different doors. Don't you think so? If you think you have the same sort of experiences as those who don't chant Hu, why then do you need 'Hu' when they don't?

Lol. ThiefofMoney. It's everywhere. It's just overlooked, is all. It's an unbelievable product. 16oz, and the price is just ridiculous. 16 oz of Philosophy would be $240. I gave my sister- in- law some of it in a jar. She came back a week later to ask what I gave her, thinking it was some costly wonder-moisturiser, saying it's cleared her skin up and it's glowing. Of course I felt 'cool' and let her beg very well before I told her what it was.
