OP, I'm in your shoes, except for the fact that I'm doing a few writing jobs when I get them as well as make handmade sweaters i.e crochet/knitting. This is a hobby that is actually keeping me afloat. The money is not life changing or that which can give bragging rights but better than jumping buses for a 50k salary in Lagos.

I've seen other comments tell you to look for a niche and stick to it. I think that's a good idea 💡. Please, keep trying and never relent.

Your concerns are valid and originate from a logical point of view. If many people thought along these lines, I think we would have a better society to live in.

Your decision to not have kids is relative to you, because the ability and capacity to raise and nurture them is yours alone. You have realised this sooner and somehow, this is also a contributing factor to your depression. However, I fear that you long to have children because you feel it would solve the issue of loneliness when you're older and of a retirement age.

Let's face it, most old people either end up alone or abandoned. This is not because the kids are mean or heartless, it's because they actually have a life of their own to live i.e working on creating their own future which given the present state of the economy may not include their parents.

So, if you choose to have kids, do it because you want to enjoy the process of being a parent and enabling your child to be able to survive with or without you and not because you want them to fill that void you called loneliness, you'll end up more depressed than ever.

P.S if you want to have peace in any form, you have to unlearn what you have been taught and these include all the problems you've listed above. Your depression stems from all that and more.

I differ. The level of immorality nowadays can't be compared with that of the olden days. How many Virgins can you see today in their 20s? Sir, nobody is making you feel guilty over anything. Every single person on here made a good 'point' depending on the situation. This is a digital era, you can run a full business outfit or as freelancer or consultant from the comfort of your home via mobile, PC etc. You don't need to start jumping buses from Ikorodu garage to Ojota to VI because you want to prove that you're a hustling.

I know people that earn incomes that will amaze you without having physical offices or buildings. IT specialists, Consultants, Artisans and many more. It's either you know what you're doing or not. Check @Elexiay on IG or Twitter, she's a fibre artist and her business is doing very well infact better than what is expected in this economy.

Anyways, I do pension/actuarial data reconciliation, I'm a writer, I'm a fibre artist, etc. Each of this earn me money depending on time of day
I like flexibility hence I work on my own terms.
