The Department of State Services has revealed that the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is not in its custody.

This was made known via the agency’s Twitter handle on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

The post read, “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”

It was reported earlier that President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele from office with immediate effect on Friday night.

Following his suspension, Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the CBN governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.

Unconfirmed reports emerged late on Friday that operatives of the Department of State Services had arrested the suspended CBN governor.

However, the spokesman for the DSS, Peter Afunaya, told one of our correspondents that he could not confirm the arrest.

On social media, a video of a Nigerian man challenging a preacher who reportedly hired him to gather information on his church members in order to give “fake prophecies” has gone viral.

The furious man claimed in the viral video that the clergyman hired him to gather private information about his church members for use in his prophetic ministration.

The angry man said the clergyman failed to fulfill his end of their bargain by paying him the money for his services.

The clergyman however refused, stating that he would ‘call on the holy spirit’ to deal with his ’business partner'.

"I am not a fake pastor. Na God call me.”

Responding, the accuser said;

"Which God call you? Na God call you? See bible see Jack Daniel” he said as he pointed to a bottle of alcohol.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 29, 2023, as a work-free day.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola who made the announcement on Friday, May 26, said the declaration was made to commemorate the inauguration of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

To “safeguard the fairness of competition,” British Cycling has barred transgender women from competing in the female division at all competitions.

The governing body’s new rules for competitive events, due to be implemented later this year, will see racing split into “open” and “female” categories, with transgender women, transgender men, non-binary individuals and those whose sex was assigned male at birth eligible to compete in the open category.

The female category will remain for those whose sex was assigned female at birth, and transgender men who are yet to begin hormone therapy.

In a statement on Instagram, Bridge called the policy a “violent act”.

NBA great, Carmelo Anthony confirmed his retirement from basketball on Monday, formally bringing the curtain down on his two-decade professional career.

Anthony, 38, whose final NBA game was for the Los Angeles Lakers in April 2022 revealed his retirement decision in a video montage of his career that was posted to his Instagram page.

He wrote;

“I remember the days when I had nothing, just a ball on the court and a dream with something more,” Anthony said in the video.

“But basketball was my outlet. My purpose was strong. My communities, the cities I represented with pride and the fans that supported me along the way.

“I am forever grateful for those people and places because they made me, Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony, chosen with the third overall pick in the 2003 draft, departs the sport as one of the most prolific scorers in basketball history.

Over the course of 20 seasons in the NBA, he amassed 28,289 points at an average of 22.5 points per game, with 7,808 rebounds and 3,422 assists.

His career began with the Denver Nuggets, then in 2010 he transferred to the New York Knicks, where he played for seven years before having spells with the Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

The US has announced that it will permit its Western allies to provide Ukraine with modern fighter jets, including F-16s built in the US. This will give Ukraine’s military a significant boost as its leadership has been requesting the jets ever since the war started in February 2022.

According to US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivanr , President Joe Biden “informed his G7 counterparts” of the decision at the group’s summit in Japan on Friday, May 19.


He added that US troops would also instruct Kiev’s pilots on how to use the jets.

This decision opens the door for other countries to deploy their current supplies of F-16s to Ukraine, as under US law, countries can only resell or re-export American military hardware with US approval.

However, no government has so far confirmed it will give advanced fighter jets to Kyiv.

Troubled Seun Kuti, an afrobeat musician and the son of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is being held at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos on the direction of the Yaba Chief Magistrate Court for assaulting a police officer. The inmates have named Seun Kuti the “General Overseer” of his cell.

According to Vanguard, a copy of the Holy Bible was said to have been handed over to him as an instrument of his office. His appointment as the GO was however not without some drama after the inmates initially rejected him.


In a video that went viral, Seun was accused of slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland bridge on May 13 which prompted an order for his arrest by the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba.

Seun however submitted himself to the police accompanied by his lawyers on Monday and was arraigned at a Sabo, Yaba Chief Magistrate Court on Tuesday which ordered his remand.

According to the report, after Seun was taken to the cell to join other suspected criminals, his first shocker was the raspy, deep baritone voice of the leader of the inmates who directed him to keep standing.

Chaos erupted inside the cell a short while later after it was reported that the other prisoners had rejected him.

Brentford and England striker, Ivan Toney said he is ‘naturally unhappy’ after being banned from football activities for eight months on Wednesday over breaking betting rules.

Six miners have been killed by gunmen on Tuesday night, They gunmen launched an attack to their camp in Turu community, Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau state.

The federal government has dispatched luxurious buses to transport Nigerian students who are stuck in Sudan to the Egyptian border, where they will likely be flown back home.

According to a new report, CNN management became “exasperated” after Don Lemon’s heated on-air argument with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. As a result, the cable news network fired him on April 24.


On the set of “CNN This Morning” on Wednesday of last week, Lemon and Ramaswamy got into a heated argument that was aired on television. According to the New York Times, Lemon was fired as a result of the incident.

In the footage of the interview, it appears producers were attempting to advise Lemon through the heated debate as Lemon was visibly irritated during the conversation with Ramaswamy on the Civil Rights movement, black Americans and the Second Amendment.

“Please, I cannot keep a thought if you guys are talking in my ear,” he said at one point during the segment, referring to producers who were advising him on his earpiece while he was having the interview.

Lemon, who is black, had said it was “Insulting” that the Republican presidential candidate was “sitting here, whatever ethnicity you are, explaining to me what it’s like to be black in America.”

The televised clash was the latest story about Lemon to make waves following a series of recent headlines about his allegedly troubling behavior.

One of his most notable errors was his comments about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley being “past her prime” at age 51. He added that “a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s” in a statement that was called out as sexist by people on all sides.

He reportedly belittled anchor Kaitlan Collins after having to share the spotlight with her and quarreled with his female co-hosts.

After an on-air discussion in December of last year, sources told The Post that Lemon “screamed” at his co-anchor, Kaitlan Collins.

When the cameras stopped rolling after the Dec. 8 show, he allegedly approached Collins and unleashed on her in front of staffers for supposedly “interrupting” him on air.

“Don screamed at Kaitlan, who was visibly upset and ran out of the studio,” one source said.

On Tuesday, April 25, Ramaswamy said in an interview with Fox News Digital that he believed it was obvious that their on-air argument “played a role” in CNN’s choice to fire Lemon.

On Tuesday, April 25, President Muhammadu Buhari will attend the third Extraordinary Session of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) in Accra, Ghana, together with other members of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Commission.

Drifters were entertaining tourists in Maiduguri, Borno state, when their cars smashed into a fence and an electric pole.

The drifters put up a show in celebration of the Eid-Al-Fitr.

A video making rounds on social media shows scenes of one car running into a fence and the other smashing into an electric pole.

Though lives were not lost, but the cars are not in a good shape as they’re critically damaged.

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 21, and Monday, April 24, 2023, as public holidays to mark this year’s EId-al-Fitr Celebration.
