Nigerians have reacted to a viral video of Big Brother Naija, BBNaija housemates, Ozo and Nengi last night.

In the video, Ozo’s hands were seen moving under the duvet towards the chest area of Nengi.

It is not clear if Ozo was handling Nengi’s br3ast, but Nengi could be heard saying ‘seriously’.

Both housemates in the last five weeks have been close friends. Ozo has several times made his intention known to Nengi.

But Nengi has insisted that she has a relationship outside the house hence cannot be more than friends with him.

She, however, mentioned to him that she would have s3x on national television if she wanted to.

The video has since stirred reactions from BBNaija fans on Twitter as some alleged that Ozo was touching her breast, others said it was just her hand.

Crime / Policemen Attacked & Robbed At Checkpoints In Enugu, AK-47 Rifles Snatched by mailtimi(m): 6:19am On Apr 11, 2020
A six-man robbery gang has attacked two police checkpoints in Enugu State, snatching Ak-47 rifles from some policemen manning the spots.

The robbers, who were operating in a tricycle otherwise known as ‘keke’, reportedly stabbed three policemen and burnt a patrol vehicle.

City Round gathered that the incident took place along Enugu-Nsukka Road by Ugwuojo Nike on Tuesday, during the enforcement of the partial lockdown in the state to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

A security source told our correspondent on Friday that the hoodlums clad in black dresses, first attacked a police checkpoint at Ekwegbe where a policeman, identified simply as Inspector James, was stabbed in the chest.

On getting to the next checkpoint along Enugu-Nsukka Road where the operatives of the Federal Safer Highway Patrol Team blocked the road, the hoodlums reportedly attacked the two policemen on duty with daggers and dispossessed them of their AK-47 rifles.

The source said the Federal Safer Highway team comprised four policemen, two of whom were attacked while they were sleeping.

“The hoodlums went away with the service rifles of the two policemen and set the operational van stationed at the checkpoint ablaze,” he added.

Our correspondent also reliably gathered that the attacked policemen were later taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Efforts to get the reaction of the state police command failed as neither the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdur-rahma, nor the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe, responded to several telephone calls placed to their mobiles.

They also did not respond to text messages sent to their mobiles as of the time of filing this report.

However, the Officer-in-Charge of Federal Safer Highway in Enugu State, SP Sam Agbons, confirmed the attack to our correspondent, but said no casualty was recorded.

He said, “Thanks for your concern. We thank God that no life was lost.”

Politics / Stay Indoors, Don’t Kill Us All – Nigerian Man Warns As He Shares COVID-19 Curve by mailtimi(m): 9:05pm On Apr 08, 2020
A Nigerian man Uzoma Nwagba via his twitter account has warned Nigerians to take the lockdown serious than anything.

He stated that Nigerians are not taking coronavirus serious now because a lot of people still don’t believe in the virus.

Uzoma shared a graph showing how big countries like America and France took the virus for granted and now it has gotten out of control.

He wrote:

Question for Nigeria TODAY is this: “Which curve do you like? Pick your curve!” People in Lekki traffic yesterday, or at the parties, you’re literally about to kill us all. Period. And no, this has little to do with the Blood of Jesus (don’t go there). Stay home, goddamit!

Politics / Buhari Decides Lockdown Extension This Week by mailtimi(m): 7:18am On Apr 08, 2020
We have all heard one way or the other that the 14 days lockdown might be extended as a lot Nigerians have flaunted the lockdown order.

During a press conference at the Lagos State Government House, Marina, the Presidential Task Force on the Control of COVID-19 indicated that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) would before the end of this week decide whether to extend the 14 days lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun states.

The Chairman of the task force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, gave the indication at the press conference.

Buhari had, on March 29 ordered lockdown of the FCT, Lagos and Ogun states following the rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.

The President said the lockdown would enable government to trace and treat those who came in contact with people infected with the infectious disease.

Responding to a question on possible extension of the lockdown, Mustapha said, “This is part of the consultation. We are looking at the objectives set when the lockdown or quarantine declaration was signed by the President and other states.

“Before the end of the week, we will do an evaluation to see how the set objectives are being met. At the end of the evaluation, the second stage of implementation and advise will go to Mr President.

“He and he alone will take the decision as to whether the lockdown will either be extended or stopped at the expiration of 14 days because in his address to the nation, he did say 14 days in the first instance; so, it’s open.”

The SGF said the lockdown was not imposed to punish Nigerians but as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

He said, “In recognition of the impact of the lockdown order on the poor, physically challenged, the elderly and the vulnerable, Mr. President approved the release of 70,000 metric tons of grains from the strategic grains reserve.”

The SGF, who commended Lagos for its response mechanism said other states had a lot to learn from the organisational structure and preparedness of the state.

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic is the most significant public health emergency of international concern, having recorded over 1million cases and causing over 50,000 deaths worldwide, as well as significant disruption to healthcare system particularly in low and middle-income countries.

Also, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said there was a Department of Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine looking into claims of local cure for COVID-19.

He said, “As to the local cure, the question is how much do we know about this virus to find a cure. We look into every assertion, some people who say they have the herbs or concoction. So, for those who are serious, we have a department in the Ministry of Health, which is the Department of Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which will look into their claims.

Health / Italy Closes All Parks As Coronavirus Deaths Climb By 627 In A Single Day by mailtimi(m): 7:14am On Mar 21, 2020
Italy imposed further draconian restrictions on public life on Friday in an increasingly desperate effort to halt coronavirus infections after the death toll leapt by 627 in a single day, by far the biggest 24-hour rise recorded anywhere.

The mayor of the most badly affected city, Bergamo in the affluent northern region of Lombardy, said the true number of fatalities from the pandemic in his area was four times higher than was officially reported so far.

"Many of the elderly are dying in their houses or in old people's homes, without anyone testing them either before or after they die," Giorgio Gori told the Huffington Post.

He added that a dozen mayors of other cities had confirmed the same thing to him.

Responding to requests by the governors of the worst-hit regions, the national government in Rome said that from Saturday all parks would be closed and people could only take exercise around their homes.

"We have to do even more to contain the infections..Correct behaviour from everyone is essential to win this battle," Health Minister Roberto Speranza said after signing the latest directive.

Authorities have become frustrated in recent days to see people still out and about despite their appeals to stay indoors for all but absolutely essential needs.

The latest crackdown effectively bans jogging and bicycle rides, the only types of outdoor exercise that were allowed.

"We already have many hundreds of dead. What more is needed before people understand the tragedy we are facing?" said Sergio Venturi, head of the coronavirus response team in Emilia-Romagna, another wealthy northern region hard-hit by the virus.

The national death toll surged by 627 over the past 24 hours to 4,032 - by far the world's largest daily rise in absolute terms since the contagion emerged a month ago.

Celebrities / Nollywood Actress, Shan George Speaks On Her Plans To Remarry by mailtimi(m): 7:00am On Mar 21, 2020
Veteran Nollywood actress, Shan George is no stranger to controversies and scandals, but she continues to soar in her endeavours.

The beautiful movie icon, who was recently appointed by the governor of Cross River State to be the Chairman of the Callywood Board had been married thrice and divorced.

Although a grandmother, the 49 year old actress shares her marriage fears when asked if she has plans to give marriage another shot.

“Marriage! Hmmm..to be very fair, one of the reasons that would make me not to consider marrying again is because I am scared. I am an only child and all my life, I have always defended myself by myself, because it was just me. When people bully me, I man up and challenge them. So, right now, little things that seem like a threat to me, I could possibly overreact. It might have to take someone who truly sees me as a sister for anything marriage to happen again. I am just scared, let me carry my cartons of trouble and maintain my lane,” she told Sun News.

Continuing, Shan George who is a proud mother of two grown sons, Delnoi and Jaga revealed how she copes with lonely night.

Hear her, ” Honestly, with the kind of work I do, there is hardly a lonely moment. In fact, I am craving for that ‘Me time’. Me being by myself. I really enjoy to enjoy my time alone. I do some reading when I am free. Aside that, work takes much of my time, so I hardly have time for such lonely moments you mentioned.”

Travel / Foreign Airlines To Suffer As Nigeria Shuts All Airports Amid Coronavirus Fears by mailtimi(m): 6:15am On Mar 21, 2020
At least about The 33 foreign airlines operating flights into Nigeria may suffer a major blow as the Federal Government says it will in a few days shut the international wings of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt Musa Nuhu, in a statement on Thursday announced the closure of the three other international airports in the country, namely Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, thereby restricting international flights to only Lagos and Abuja airports. The statement noted that the closure would be till further notice effective 12am today. It noted that this was part of precautionary measures taken by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.

On Friday, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, told journalists in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, that the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, would make the announcement at the appropriate time.

But speaking on Friday, the minister said the Federal Government planned to close every gap that could further spread the COVID-19 in the country.

He said, “Yes, we are going to shut all international airports. Domestic operations will not be disrupted. The shutdown will be in a few days, just to allow the necessary ‘Notice to Airmen’ to be issued accordingly.”Consequently, the 33 foreign airlines operating flights into Nigeria, according to the statistics from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, might take a financial hit following the closure. Some of the foreign airlines expected to be affected are British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, AirFrance, KLM, Delta Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, South African Airways, Kenyan Airways, Rwandair, Turkish Airlines, Egypt Air, Royal Air Maroc and Africa World Airlines.

Data from the NCAA showed that from January to December 2019, the foreign airlines recorded 15, 474 flights into the five international airports in Nigeria with an average of 298 flights weekly.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the International Air Transport Association said the disruption to air travel due to the continued spread of coronavirus would cost Nigeria’s aviation industry over N160.58bn (using Bureau de Change rate of N370 to $1) ($434m) in revenue and 22,200 jobs.

IATA, which is an umbrella body for 290 airlines globally, added that Nigeria would also lose approximately 2.2 million passengers, adding that the spread of the virus would negatively impact the aviation industry worldwide.Efforts to reach the President, Association of Foreign Airlines and Representatives in Nigeia, Mr Kingsley Nwokoma, on Friday night, were not successful.

But earlier in the week, he said the industry had been passing through a very difficult time since the outbreak of the disease.

Nwokoma said there was slow traffic, cancellation of flights, and reduction in cargo traffic.

“When it started, it was like a joke and we all thought it will soon pass away; cargo and aviation generally have taken a big hit,” he said.

He said cargo warehouses had become empty as most shipment were from China.

The NCAA DG had said in his statement that the directive was as a result of the Federal Government’s travel ban on 13 countries, which rose to 15 countries following the addition of Sweden and Austria on Friday. The government by the directive restricted entry for travellers from the countries, but noted that Nigerians, diplomats and foreigners resident in the country travelling from the listed countries would be subjected to supervised self-isolation for 14 days after arrival.

The disease, which was first discovered in Wuhan, China on December 31, 2019, was first detected in Nigeria on February 27 when a 44-year-old Italian tested positive for the virus.

As of Thursday night, the number of cases in Nigeria had risen to 12, with 1,300 persons who had direct and indirect contacts with the infected persons placed under watch. So far, only one patient, the second patient to test positive for the virus, had been discharged, while the Italian is said to be responding to treatment.

As of Friday night, the disease had spread to 184 out of 195 countries and territories around the world, with 271,598 cases recorded while 11,299 deaths had been recovered. However, 90,605 persons had so far recovered.

Crime / FRSC Office Burnt Over Rumoured Death Of Motorcyclist by mailtimi(m): 5:58am On Mar 21, 2020
There was chaos on Friday in Minna, Niger State, when angry commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada riders, burnt down the office of the Federal Road Safety Corps .

The okada riders were angry over the death of one of their colleagues allegedly caused by some FRSC officials.

It was learnt that the late motorcyclist rode against traffic along the GRA in the state and in a bid to arrest him, the FRSC officials on patrol opened their vehicle door to block his motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses said the rider crashed the motorcycle in the process and hit his head on the pavement, leading to a serious injury. He was said to have been rushed to a hospital where he died.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the accident resulted in the death of two people; the rider and his passenger.

Some of the FRSC officials were said to have fled when the motorcyclists mobilised themselves but they beat others who waited. The protesters later set fire to office of the corps.

Nothing could be rescued from the burnt building as official documents, valuables of officers and an ambulance at the unit were affected by the fire. The office of the National Orientation Agency located to the FRSC office was also burnt.

The Public Education Officer of the Unit, Deputy Route Commander, Olugbemiga Bello, who described the incident as unfortunate, stated that the FRSC men on patrol did not cause the accident.

“The motorcyclist did not die but was injured. The accident was caused by the injured motorcyclist due to recklessness,” Bello added.

Meanwhile, Chairman, Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria in the area, Umar Amah, denied the involvement of members of the association in the incident.

He said, “None of our members was around when the building was touched. I personally led away members who besieged the office before the incident occurred.”

The Niger State FRSC Sector Commander, Joel Dagwa, did not pick calls made to his mobile at the time of filing this report.

Politics / Nigerian Man Refuses To Sit With SA Man At A Bar In Japan by mailtimi(m): 2:54pm On Sep 21, 2019
African reaction to xenophobia in South Africa has spread as far as Japan. Durbanite and Manchester United fan Jason Jetnarayan, who works as an IT recruitment consultant after starting as an English teacher in the Land of the Rising Sun, discovered this when he went to a pub in Shibuya to watch the recent match between his team and Leicester.

“The pub was busy and there weren’t any seats available, but I looked around and spotted a black gentleman in a Manchester United jersey with open seats at his table

“I approached him to let him know my friend and I were Manchester supporters too and asked permission to join him.

“He gave us his approval in an African accent. As a proud African myself, I was excited about this because Africans are rare here. So I ask him where he was from. He said ‘Nigeria’ and reciprocated the question. I extended my hand and excitedly told him I was South African. He didn’t believe me until I proved it to him, showing him my ID as I beat my chest with pride.

“However, he didn’t seem to share the sentiment by the look of it.

“He was visibly upset, and made a statement about South Africans not being his brothers. I immediately realise he was referring to the xenophobic attacks that have unfortunately occurred in SA for the last decade, and only seem to be getting worse.”

Jetnarayan said he felt a sense of uneasiness, which he described as “a sinking feeling in my chest”.
“The pride I felt a moment before sharply deteriorated into one of shame.

“I, for one, have never taken issue with immigrants in my country or any other. I am in no manner responsible for the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, yet I apologised to the gentleman as he got up to leave the bar, having made the choice he would rather not be affiliated with a South African.

“We’re failing our brothers and sisters in Africa, we’re failing our women, we’re failing our children. We need to be better. We need to fight for our people and speak out against atrocities committed on our land, or else we too are part of the problem.

“Let’s be the resolution.”

I had sent @mosusuemevor and @shakarad1st to go buy me fresh bread from #EfeAfe’s hotel. And they took too long. I called and was told the gullies on the road were too deep and caused a gridlock. So I went to see the spots.

We calculated a few tippers of rubble and broken blocks will get the traffic flowing again. So we paid for some trips and said they could keep filling them till the road was level and motorible.
_
The first tipper arrived and as he was reversing to tip the first trip, he was stopped, dragged out of the truck and thoroughly beaten. They said the contractor had to settle them first.
_
Can’t remember who came to call me. When I got there, the driver had a swollen lip and there were several “youth members” who had come to share in the “deve” that was yo be shared.
_
I introduced myself and asked why they stopped him from filling the holes. The leader, first had to calm his people down, because they were ready to beat their fada, before he spoke.
_
I can’t start the project without settling the youths. They were 3 groups. I said, oh I didn’t know. The noise started again. One said I was lucky they did not burn the tipper.
_
So I asked my guys, how many trips had they paid for, (can’t remember how many they said now)?
_
I now explained that it was not a contract or government project. That I was doing from my pocket. And thought this would make them see it was privately sponsored. I was so wrong. They flared. Threatened. And I said, “E never reach to vex. The money for the rubble na MY own. The road na OUR own. So, make we wait make government BRING OUR OWN money to fix am.”
_
Told the tipper driver to return his rubble. Dashed him what was paid before and went back to my hotel.
