The plain truth is that as the hiring manager does an not have a Computer Science degree, the hiring manager has no idea that an applicant with a Computer Science degree understands the fundamentals but may not have experience with a specific tool a company uses and by just focusing on a specific tool, they’ve potentially weeded out a strong candidate with a Computer Science degree that can quickly come up to speed.

This is the problem with degrees that are not regulated like Law. If this was an interview for a Lawyer or Solicitor there is no way you would have been invited for an interview without a degree in Law.

You are wrong Computer Science is good but as it is not regulated like Law means most employers have no respect for a degree in Computer Science, they would rather hire someone without a degree in computer Science or a self taught and train that person instead of hiring and training someone with a degree in Computer Science. I know this because this is my area of study.

Have a look online for jobs in software programming and see for yourself that many employers have not regard for a degree in Computer Science as it is not regulated like Law.

Show me where an employer is looking for a Lawyer without a Law degree anywhere in Nigeria or overseas?

This is the plain truth. I went for a software developer interview with a guy with a CS degree I have no degree in CS but cuz I had more skills than the guy he was jettisoned and I was favoured.
