Dr Muzungu: According to you, what part of today's Owerri represents it the most? Modotel? Concorde? Govt. house (and SSS/Police HQs)? Bank avenue? (god forbid) Douglas road just before they remove the refuse? Some other parts? Let me know, please. Thanks.
So somebody taking pictures of a drainage gutter and even after you list those hotels says "i saw no star hotels"...you dont think that person has an agenda

this is the panorama

as is, uncut, as imolites know and cherish the city and this isn't even focused on Douglas which is the main road.
Tell be why someone went to Owerri and none of the buildings im posting were shown? Somebody who owns a camera could have snapped anything i've shown

but instead snaps this

and you think that person isn't a devil in disguise?

and im not going to sit here and act like this fools pictures are a representation of Rochas Okorocha's work. There's more construction happening in imo than any other state in Nigeria. You can't point to one and compare. Every school is being rebuilt, roads are being added where they didn't exist before, everything from hospitals to houses are going up and fast. Owerri is one of the hottest real estate markets in Nigeria right now, so to have Okija do this to the igbo people is really sad.

What this idiot posted isn't owerri. He's deliberately trying to draw down Owerri for no reason, and it's unfair to us Owerri people.
He went and took the ugliest pictures possible and called it good. in Calabar and Uyo he went to the main city. In Imo he first went to villages, than took pictures of every piece of rust he can find in the city. What a wicked and hateful thing to do to people what would call you brother.

I can be hateful and say 'this is london'

I'll post pics i have from the internet and from myself, but Okija has an agenda, his previous pictures of imo state were of bush as well and he was keen to point out that there are no 'good hotels' while Sheraton and Disney have built two of the east's best locations in Owerri. Please don't hurt my state's tourism with your Nokia phone abeg

Okija_juju: Not a single thing about Owerri impressed me...

The only new constructions I saw in the town were those Street gates..

The road near Rockview hotel looked nice (I guess that because its close to the government house)..

The entire place was dirty... (Obvious from the pictures)

Apart from Orlu which looked like the work had been abandoned, I didnt see any other road work.. (P.S the quality of roads sef in orlu is pitiful.. The government might as well leave it and simply pour broken blocks into existing potholes)..

That area that had the comissioners quarters was nice... However, none of those places looked or felt new.. Seems like they were there before Rochas..

I was gonna do a Picstory on the state of Imo State schools (from a research carried out in the state), but I am gonna hold back for now...

The State owned higher institutions that he decleared tuition free is not fit to train dogs inside.. So I wonder what he is beating his chest about free crappy education.. I even had to bribe the security man 100 naira to gain entrance... lol

Rochas needs to focus on projects that will economically empower Imo State.. Being there felt like I was in Cross Rivers State.. I couldnt find a single reason to stay back in the place..

My verdict on Imo State = 3.5/10
These aren't pictures of Owerri, This guy found waterproof on the floor and took pictures, an old woman, and erosion, and other completely random things on the outskirts of town. If you go into the main town (notice there are almost no buildings or traffic in his pics and owerri is notorious for both, as opposed to the fringes you would see the real owerri, but the guy has show for a second time around he has a problem with imo state/owerri
TravelRe: Okija Presents Owerri..... (pictures) by MajeOfficial: 12:02pm On Dec 11, 2012
I noticed like in your last thread you tried to take the least flattering pictures possible when it came time to show owerri, it's wierd you would be on a 'road trip' and only creep around outskirts and patches of bush but not the main city. Very odd.

Well, you're a bastard for one, and you're igbo, so if you're trying to make owerri look bad you're making yourself look bad as well..

Hoping it won't be put in Lagos, other states need shine too, to take the population pressure off of Lagos and develop the country as a whole. Good move.

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Can Crown Or Deny Presidency by MajeOfficial: 2:53pm On Dec 10, 2012
donroxy: Thanks Dude,

Surely,

If all Nigerian President are bad, Obasanjo is the Best President Nigeria has ever had........

May He live long,Amen!!!!
I think it's close between him and GEJ.
The only reason we can say GEJ is bad is because he's good, let me explain.

We now hear about the corruption in the government on an unprecedented level. We hear about subsidy scams, that weren't in the nigerian dictionary during Obasanjo, the ribadu report, so on and so forth. This is because of the FOI bill giving us unlimited access to government information and making the government open and accessible. We can now see what we have been doing wrong since Adam and we're all in arms demanding change and working towards it. Everything is up for debate now and democracy is flourishing.

Call GEJ weak, but he's doing his job as it should be done. The presidency isn't a dictatorship and he's running it like a Presidency. If someone says that Fashola being free to run Lagos as he wants is a sign of weakness, he should know that this is a sign of democracy and rule of law. Every part of the government is now independent and works for it's self, this is the strengthening of institutions.

OBJ's biggest mistake created nigeria's #1 problem. OBJ was too dictatorial and today the federal government is a imperialist one that's too bloated to be effective.

GEJ has done very well
The trains are gradually working
power has improved
the oil sector is cleaning it's self up
elections have been fair and free
and Boko Haram has at least been isolated to their north east enclave with the JFT fighting a reputable and diligent fight against them

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Can Crown Or Deny Presidency by MajeOfficial: 7:52am On Dec 10, 2012
I think the same is happening in PDP. Once Jonathan came into power, who doesn't have a dictatorial nature, suddenly the party lost focus.
Everyone became his own leader because only a few saw GEJ as a leader. PDP is run by ex military seniors and their supporters from the past generation
none of them out of rank, age, wealth, and status are going to take orders from a newcomer like GEJ and GEJ knew this, that's why he hasn't moved to be more of an authority in his party.
So all of these individual heads focused on building their private political armies and most of them disagree bitterly to the point where i believe there will be no PDP after 2015 or it will be a shell of what it used to be.

I think things have changed. Too much time has past and too many others have looted a stockpile or wealth strong enough to challenge him. I dont think he hold the power he used to and that's why PDP is falling apart. Too many Generals rising.
