Politics / Re: Peter Obi Of Anambra State Is Working, At Least On Roads by MajeOfficial: 8:11am On Jan 12, 2013
the worst thing anambrans could possibly do to themselves is to begin defending mediocre performance in the name of state pride
you can be proud to be anambran and admit the state is being mismanaged or treated mediocerly.

Onitcha is the supply capital for the entire SS and SE. This is over 30 million people, and if independent would by the second biggest country in west africa by a large margin.
If someone is using a city that should be a world capital by any means shouldn't be celebrating building 1 lane roads with no drainage or side walks and attracting 4 companies to invest in 7 years.
Anambra should be neck and neck with Lagos. Enugu isn't your enemy, bad leadership is.
it's shameful to leave Asaba and entire Onitcha because you can see where leadership had failed the most.

bia, why are there so few pictures of onitcha in existence?
I can find 100 of owerri which is several times smaller, Umuahia, but it's rare to find photos of Onitcha
we live in digital age, everyone has cameras on their phone. Take photos of the city and post them up here, we don't need to depend on word of mouth alone anymore.

Ndigbo have been subjected to a grave insult.
Never in this world will nigeria have a meeting about the north in Onitcha
It will never have a meeting about the West in Maidugari
it's now the south east that you'll go to Lagos to discuss. GEJ doesn't have my vote. confirmed

London’s First Atheist Church Opens Tomorrow

Mallory Ortberg

JAN 5, 2013 11:36 AM

The first comedian-founded atheist church in England is set to hold its first monthly service tomorrow. Pippa Evans (a "musical improv comedian"wink and Sanderson Jones (just a regular talking comedian) came up with the idea together.

Quote:
"We thought it would be a shame not to enjoy the good stuff about religion, like the sense of community, just because of a theological disagreement," said Mr Jones, who recently became the first person to sell out the Sydney Opera House by personally selling all tickets by hand.
The image of Sanderson Jones selling Sydney Opera House tickets "by hand," presumably while standing outside the building itself on the night of each performance, trying to talk passers-by into coming inside, is almost unbearably charming. Not to mention the fact that he refers to the differences between Christianity and atheism as a "theological disagreement," like a Lutheran discussing font etiquette at a garden party.

Jones called it "part atheist church" and "part foot-stomping show" that will meet once a month. Tomorrow's service features guest lecturer Andy Stanton, author of the Mr. Gum children's books.

The church, of course, is not without controversy; a Catholic parish priest in Finsbury said to reporters that while it's "important" to engage with non-believers, "for them to establish a church like any other religious denomination is going too far. I'm cautious about it." Only in England would a Catholic priest refer to an atheist church as something to be "cautious" about, as though he's willing to be surprised and delighted by it, because you never know.

Sanderson Jones has similarly modest expectations: "we just want people to feel encouraged and excited when they leave."

Some pictures would be nice.
Anambra isn't a state were simply putting roads in will qualify. It's the economic nerve center of the southeast and south south, in reality it should look like a world capital because the combination of these two regions makes from a HUGH nation! This is where all of us get our supplies and products and where economic activity is king, roads aren't enough, especially if they're below world standards

Onitsha isn't a joke and should no longer be treated as one, it has the potential to rival Lagos in Africa, unmarked roads won't do the job.

Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Is So Boring by MajeOfficial: 2:06pm On Jan 10, 2013
that's not true. Many intelligent people have no signs of being interested in 'intellectual' conversation. Intelligence simply means you have a more powerful and active brain, but doesn't dictate what you do with it.

A man can own a Lamborghini and not be interested in street racing.

Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Is So Boring by MajeOfficial: 2:02pm On Jan 10, 2013
OP, i feel your plight.
My ex girlfriend was dull as well. No matter how much you love them you can't change them, they're content with very little and since you're not that type of person, you'll suddenly find yourself bored. The danger is any and every girl that says anything close to exciting will start to interest you. The more interesting other girls seem the more frustrating you relationship will become you and will lash out on her often because she's a disappointment. It's hard to make these situations work because she doesn't see anything wrong with her character, and in reality there's nothing wrong with it, she's laid back. You can learn to except it and find excitement elsewhere like with friends etc, because any girl you find after her will have a problem too and you'll have to learn to deal with them as well, or you can leave her because you're just going to get angry and frustrated and treat her unfairly.

If you decide you love her you have to set that boundary that she's not you 'friend' in the same sense as others and isn't the person to go to for exciting things. I do warn you, exciting girls aren't 'personal'. They behave like public property. Constantly needing to be around groups of people, or on the phone, leaving little to no time for the two of you to be together and enjoy each other. They can also be very mentally immature from my experience and what you may perceive as exciting in a women may really immaturity and wrecklessness most of the time.

Your girlfriend is what psychology calls an introvert. This means she doesn't need the 'excitement' of others to have fun. Where you 'gain' energy from 'doing things' and being around people, an introvert loses energy from doing these things. She may say things like "I don't like too much noise" "I don't like being around too many people" or seem detached from the moment in public settings. They would rather talk to one person at a time and can entertainment themselves without the assistance of other people (such as watching movies). Introverts are typically very intelligent so your theory about her being intelligent isn't wrong. Introverts aren't 'dull' though, it's actually the opposite. They're easily excited by their own thoughts, and too much excitement such as doing the things you listed you like to do is overtly stimulating to them. Introverts are hard to bore but may do things others find boring. It's not a rare or bad thing, half of the people in the world are introverts and they're said to typically be highly successful, intelligent, and innovative. You simply have to learn how to understand her and deal with her differently if you want to stay. If you don't you'll become angry and erratic from frustration. As an introvert, simply spending time with you may be all she needs to be excited, and this isn't a bad thing, once you run into a bizzy body woman, you'll see that she's a blessing.
Note: If you find a subject that interests introverts their energy levels skyrocket and they can talk for hours non stop.

I completely agree. Any one of these roads can be transformed just by building them to an international standard instead of a local one. There is a lack of something as common as sidewalks in Imo state.

Well, these hotels aren't filled with spirits lol.

They're prospering. There wouldn't be so many if there wasn't a demand so it's not a matter of opinion, the free market has spoken. You should visit owerri some time. The people are very warm and inviting, atmosphere is laid back (though that's changing) there's great hotels and they're always throwing parties, plus lots of beautiful women!

I completely agree!
Are police shouldn't have live rounds, they're not army men and they're not fighting a foreign enemy. Stunt guns or bag launchers will stop anyone in their tracks for a proper arrest, there's no need to give nervous half trained men AK 14's, it's not going to make anyone safer because now we worry about criminals AND police killing us.

I has nothing to do with political science. It's just a soup of unnessacary vocabulary lol. A lot of Nigerians don't understand that writing and speaking like this makes you sound stupid and/or insane

If you were in England it's self trying to speak like this at a job interview you will surely be turned down because they'll think you're joking. or crazy undecided

Celebrities / Dbanj Now Dating Ibb's Step Daughter by MajeOfficial: 7:12am On Jan 07, 2013

This is not the first time Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D'Banj is rumoured to be in sizzling romance with a high class lady and this may not be the last. In time past, the Kokomaster, as he is also fondly called, had been romantically linked with superstar Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

Now, there is a romance tale trailing D'Banj with Adama Indimi, who is the younger sister of IBB's son's first wife, Muhammed Babangida, Rahama Indimi. She is the daughter of Maiduguri based multi-millionaire, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi. Adama is a student of
Lynn University, Florida, USA.

It is reported that a series of tweeted started this speculations. This has made some people ask if D'Banj has finally dropped Genevieve for Adama.

On August 13, 2012, Dbanj tweeted, "On my way to Club Icon with Naeto C and the crew! Tonight, we are drinking to celebrate my baby @Presido_Adama (Adama). Happy birthday love!

Politics / Re: If You Were President, How Much Would You Steal? by MajeOfficial: 4:35am On Jan 07, 2013
If anything the world leaders that are the most respected

Obama
Desmond Tutu
Mandela
Dhali Llama
Kofi Annan
Angela Merkel
David Cameroon
etc. are not known for wealth.

but the ones known for wealth
Obasanjo
Bongo
Mubarak
the Saudi royal family
Ghaddafi
Mubarak

are look at as thieves no matter what else they achieve, and if they're in a room with Obama or Nelson Mandela, they would have to bow.
Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe are more respected internationally than Babangida. Only a village thinker that wants to play big man to his cousins and uncles would consider compiling currency as a means of earning true respect. The minute Danjuma leaves his village he's a thief and is treated as so internationally.

Politics / Re: If You Were President, How Much Would You Steal? by MajeOfficial: 4:32am On Jan 07, 2013
Here's what I don't understand about the Nigerian mentality.

If you become rich to earn status, access, resources and impress people as all people do. As an achievement and you become the PRESIDENT of your NATION
have you not already achieved the status, access, resources, and lefted the biggest impression you possible could in your life?

What does it matter if you drive a nice car? YOU'VE BEEN PRESIDENT! you have done the biggest thing someone from your country can ever do other than being the president of earth, which is a non existent title. What will it matter if your have a bigger house than your neighbor? what is left to buy with money once you've achieved such status? Everyone you encounter is going to assume you're richer and more powerful than them anyways? Why do you need 2 houses in Maryland? Who are you trying to impress, you've already been a WORLD LEADER?

Obama is not a rich man in comparison to the elite in America, but nobody in the country has achieved what he has and he thus has nobody to impress. He's not going to have to buy a nice car or a nice watch for someone to know he's somebody important, he's the PRESIDENT of that person's country

Nelson Mandela will never need to drive a Bentley for someone to know he matters or that he's important, he's been the president of his nation, that's the most important and powerful title he can ever achieve in his life.

This is why i don't understand many corrupt people in Nigeria. I can see them having to steal to remain politically powerful, but having top flaunt wealth to show you're important when you've already won the title of "most important man" in your country makes no sense.
I honestly wouldn't steal anything. At that point i have nobody to impress so what will i be stealing for? It's only a primitive person that would think there is still something to steal once you've become the president of a nation, because that title gives you more than what money can achieve.
