Please do you know if I will need the FRSC letter in Ontario.

You do need the extract plus Drivers licence in Ontario amongst other provinces.
I stay in Alberta so you need people in Ontario to validate my answer. In any case though, I prefer to get all possible documents sorted and gotten before leaving Nigeria to avoid stories that touch grin

Thank you Majesticniyi,

I have my original current-Nigeria Drivers Licence with me.I learnt i would only be considered for Grade Level 5 Alberta Driver's Licence test based on the confirmation of my previous driving experience.Ive contacted 2 registries on it.

You really don't need more than a Class 5 except you have other plans cheesy

Great people of this forum,
Am new in Alberta, currently preparing for my Drivers Licence Knowledge Test,Pls i need a guide on how to get ABSTRACT from FRSC
1).Which address do i ask FRSC to send the ABSRACT to?Is there any specific Alberta Transport Agency that would receive it?
2).After sending a e- mail to FRSC,do i need to do any form of follow up? Thank you.

You only need your ORIGINAL Drivers licence in Alberta. I think your extract helps with insurance though. Mine was addressed to

DRIVERS LICENCING,

ALBERTA TRANSPORTATION,

CANADA.

The license will be delivered to a physical address. How do you plan getting it here?

What are you doing on our forum? Considering the fact that whites don't like Nigerians: They erroneously paint us black!

I usually don't talk on issues like this but isn't this statement from you the same racism we always rush to condemn? If an American says this to you on Quora, how would you feel?

While it's interesting to follow the narrative and counter arguments when discussions like the futility of travelling abroad comes up, I still dont understand why the talk drags on. If you think Nigeria is great for you, stay there....if you think your choice is to stay here in Canada, the choice is all yours. Why begrudge us our decision to travel to somewhere we think works for us. Majority of those who Canada open their doors to arent stupid, they have worked hard to get to enviable professional heights in their career and the same analytical brains that took them there was used to decide to move to Canada....they arent stupid!

The upside to discussions like this is that I get to read beautiful pieces from intelligent minds like Salford and Einsteino

LANDING GIST- very short read!!!

I am hoping I can remember details as it was all so fuzzy…please bear with the shortness of the gist *lol*

ITA June 27th, 2018
AOR Sept 04, 2018
Biometric Oct 2, 2018
Ghost update Jan 30, 2019
PPR Jan 30, 2019
Copr: Feb 19, 2019
Landed/PR: March 28, 2019

When I got PPR, I thought the troubles were over and I could finally rest in peace. For where? Na there the real job start. We had to sell things (why do people expect you to start dashing them things just because you are travelling?), searched and searched online till we got the cheapest flight on Ethopian Airlines, had talks with my HR and Line Manager at work to know the best time to resign, went round having last funs with friends and family, packing ( please start as soon as you can, to pack no be beans- many decisions to make on what to leave/take along especially for women)….anyhow, the day finally came and we were ready to go.

We left Ibadan a week earlier and moved to spend the final week with family so we left for Lagos from Abeokuta. We considered the routes to take and chose to use the Lagos-Ibadan Express Way to boycott traffic…worst decision ever. We spent hours stuck in traffic and anxiety set in when we had just two hours left to take off time. Friends and family at the airport kept calling, everything turned rough and I even got the car bashed.

Finally, we got to the airport and was fortunate to have someone waiting for us who works there. We quickly went to customs who immediately seized our Igbo Palm-oil because the person who held cash didn’t enter the airport on time (Nigerians and bribe sha). We also had to pay 3k for the two bags of food we had. I could have followed the talks on Nairaland on avoiding paying at all at MMIA but we were so late and I just wanted to get on that flight. We had favour during baggage check-in, our all our bags were overweight and I expected to pay but maybe because of the person we knew or because we were already late, we were just hurried along to board.

Going through the other checks was a breeze and I didn’t pay a dime. By the way, I checked-in online/printed boarding passes the previous day so that saved a lot of time too. I forgot to print out the boarding pass for Lagos to Addis Ababa but the attendant was nice enough to print another copy for me.

Flight was uneventful- bland food, I ate the bread and butter almost throughout, even ice cream was crap! Inflight entertainment was great, attendants not so nice. A Nairalander and family sat just behind us with two lovely kids. Wasn’t so cool to have to claim our bags and then recheck-in for the flight from YYZ to YYC though. I don’t think I would be flying Air Canada anytime soon, stingy people. Everything na for sale from food to Wifi to earpiece! The airport in Toronto is beautiful, that of Calgary is even more beautiful.

Okay, so we had to do landing procedures at entry port which was Toronto for us. Immigration was a breeze, asked if we had milk or meat product…nobody checked. CBSA next, I got to the counter and the only three question were if family size had increased, if we had ever been involved in a crime and if we were coming in with above 10k dollars…we were not asked anything on POF. We did landing procedure with four other Nigerian families and it was same process. We couldn’t wait to do SIN as were were running late and didn’t want to reschedule our flight, hosts were already waiting. Flight to Calgary was filled with turbulence.

Our hosts are the nicest people in earth. Hot Poundo and ego riro to welcome us, Fried rice this morning…already using their network to connect us for jobs. May God bless them real good.

SIN, Health card, sim card, account opening lines up for today. Cold is minimal…I love the peace and quietness here. Alberta, please favour us in Jesus name.

PS: I need a job as soon as possible. I studied Mechanical Engineering and have experience in FMCG operations. Please help out if you can grin

Just wondering, would it not have been cheaper to buy those stuff in Canada?
cost of shipping is almost C$400 + C$94 + cost of buying the foodstuff.
That's over $600, that will buy you a lot of foodstuff in Canada, I believe.

Can seniors please comment more on this? I'm at the point of trying to decide what to pack and ship over and would appreciate inputs. Does it make sense bring foodstuff over or I should just stick with clothes, books, basic drugs and toiletries? I need the cheaper way out please...

I concluded a while back that the average fathers in our generation failed at their jobs. Most people would deny this openly but they know its the truth. Most did not have it as bad as you though. Shout out to the Mothers....they basically made most of us who we are. I hope the current new crop of fathers would not repeat the mistakes of their fathers.
