Have you slapped the back or the screen

This might look like a joke but it happened to me. My LG TV suddenly starting rebooting while I was watching. It would switch itself off and come on again only to shut down and restart without completing the booting cycle. I googled the answer and a tech forum comment said just slap the back. Sounded stupid until I did and the silly thing started working just fine. Later read that it was a result of impartial contact.

InvertedHammer you say what?

So I live in an apartment where I pay 1500 dollars for rent per month, and I can take a mortgage of 300,000 and pay the same 1500 on the mortgage per month. After 30 years, I'll own the 300,000 home while I'll end up with nothing renting the apartment.

Can you please explain why you said mortgage is never good?

You get time dey reply person wey no even understand wetin mortgage mean grin

Why would I continue paying my landlord's mortgage for him when I can pay almost the same amount and own the house after 25-30years? More so, like someone said, even if something happens and I love my job (assuming insurance doesn't even come into the picture), I can simply sell the house and recover all the money I would I have spent on rent cool

Those not in the western world cant really understand the concept of mortgage as their mentality is that credits are bad.

Hi guys, I'm traveling in two weeks.. I'd like to know if one is to bring in all the settlement funds. Or is it allowed to bring say 50% and show proof for the rest which would be in TBills. The half I want to take along would last me quite a while as accommodation and transportation is sorted. Thanks.

It is allowed to bring a part but you must have a way to prove you really do have the money back home as they occasionally ask for proof. I even advice leaving some back home if you have family ties there. You wouldnt have to look for who to exchange with when you need to send money back home to them. Also, you can sell at a better rate to individuals over time as compared to bringing in USD and converting at ridiculous rates with banks here.

My first Time boarding a flight and I didn't knew there are seat numbers attached to your tickets. Well, I sat at any seat and I wasn't challenged and ofcus the plane was full. I tried that again cos I was still ignorant but one spoilt brat came with her sister challenging me that's his seat. He showed me his seat number and I looked at mine too and since then I learnt from the little guy. I always like the window seat so I still try it if my seat number isn't on the window and pretend to be sleeping before the owner comes grin

It's not every airline that assign seat on boarding pass.if you haven't experienced that, then you haven't travelled much.in those cases, you board based on priority.

Congratulations... I am also planning on landing in Edmonton, still at AOR stage though. When you said you were asked your purpose of coming to Canada, what was your response? I am practically combing the internet for information before I check out.

One other question, is it advisable to travel in December? I am expecting my PPR to fall between October and December.

Your reason for coming to Canada is for permanent residence...simple. You don't have to give any other reason.

Better to make your travel plans for March, biko. You would be coming to face the harsh winter cold if you come December and practically no one would volunteer to help you get around during that time, combined with the fact that you arent used to the transit system yet. My advice though, take at your discretion.

The cold is very terrible. In fact, the population is less than 100k in Canada now because of the cold. All those who migrated to Canada have relocated to Danaca because of the cold. It is -50°C all year round and it is hard to survive there, no sun at all throughout the year.

I will advise you to stay back in Nigeria and enjoy your 40°C weather

Regarding the amount of time you have to finally decide if you want to move to Canada or not without loosing your PR status, you really do not have a problem because if you plan properly you actually still have about 3 (three years) to make that decision. So, how did I come about three years and what do you need to do?

How did I come about three years? Well, as per Canadian Immigration requirement, the condition you have to meet to keep your PR status is that you must be living in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) during the last five years and these 730 days don’t need to be continuous.

What do you need to do now in the next 2 months? Well all you need to do now is to do short landing for some days (maybe say 1 week but the more time the better). So, take short vacation to Canada from your current work just for the purpose of landing. Go back to your work in Nigeria after your short vacation. You now have 3 years (three) from when you depart Canada to return to Canada so as not to loose your PR status. If you decide to move to Canada after spending 3 years in Nigeria, you must now stay live in Canada for 2 years before you can travel out again.

Note, If I was in your shoes and I decide to return to Canada, I will do so after only 2 years (not using all of my 3 years window).

You can read more about all of these here:

https://www.ackahlaw.com/blog/how-to-maintain-permanent-residence-in-canada-while-living-overseas/

I hope this helps.

Just what I wanted to type. He should do soft landing and make the decision on where to stay when the pressure of copr expiration is diffused. He has two years to make this decision cool

Am afraid what might happen to Nigeria soon, and I will explain why.

I remember when Nokia was reigning I can't believe 4-5 years later I would be able to buy BlackBerry Curve.

When I saw Android devices on foreign magazines I was wondering if I would have the chance to own one.
2-3 years later I bought one.

Then we heard that 4G LTE is coming I was wondering if I could afford to experience it, 2-3 years later people in my village are connected to the 4G LTE network.

Now we are hearing that 5G is coming hopefully in 2-3 years I will experience it.

Now why I said Nigeria might soon be in trouble, anything that has to do with technology comes so fast that Electric cars will soon replace fuel vehicles.

Just like a joke Nigeria is not taking into consideration that European countries are switching from fuel cars to Electric Power cars by 2025 that's like 5-6 years from now.

We are not the owners of Hyundai, Toyota, Honda and other car brands to say we can stop the manufacturing of electric cars.

By then the demand for crude oil will decline and that means oil might fall to $10-15 per barrel. That means we are falling into recession for life like Venezuela.

Nigeria must act fast and stop all these unnecessary politics cos if Honda and Toyota starts mass production of Electric cars Nigeria will be in trouble.

Dont worry, we wont have electricity to power the cars grin

The poster is kind of right. One thing you need to realize is not all disabilities are visible. Canadians are also not confrontational so someone might actually need the seat and not want to ask you to get up. You also would not realize they need the seat because their disability is not visible. In general I'd avoid seating on those priority/reserved spots.

It is even politely stated on the buses to always move to the back end.

How long does it take from this point to getting PPR abeg encourage me edakun. Cos a lot of my plans here is so highly dependent on this PPR right now.

You better remove your mind from the application for now before you give yourself hypertension. You start with checking hourly for updates, then twice a day, then once daily, then once in a week...till you give up and tell yourself if they dont mail you, no more checking....but you still end up checking everytime you read a PPR story grin

even the ardent supporters of buhari would agree that buhari and intelligence can never go together but he assembled over 15 million people (according to inec) who would die for him if need be.

Nnamdi Kanu who we call all sorts of derogatory names assembled more people than Oyedopo can ever assemble within the space of 6 months without even the masses seeing or knowing him. he didn't either share money to achieve this

The common thing among these men boils down to the kind of people they assembled

Oyedepo assembled that sets of people who don't play with the term "God told me to tell you" The old man exploited their vulnerability, those people that believe than God is responsible for for their successful toasting of a beautiful lady. He assembled religious gullible minds
who believes that a being is responsible for all their actions on this earth. When the make a good decision it becomes God but when the decision is bad then devil is at work.

Buhari the dullard in chief assembled some set of people (professors, SANS, Doctors and co) inclusive who have brains but for a reason best known to them have just refused to use them. The elites zombies would scrutinize you to the high heavens if you happen to apply to work in their firm but applauded the dullard even when he refuse to come and tell the zoo and her animals how he's going to take them to next level.
If a person seeking the highest office in the last can't pass through a rigorous interview them why would someone seeking a job of just 100k be interviewed? Question for the zombies.

Nnamdi Kanu on his part assembled people who felt that the ZOO is the the greatest scam in black African and that the existence of the zoo is a big hindrance to the development of Africa.

Oyedepo, Buhari and Kanu can't all said to be intelligent, at least not when the dullard is in their mist. The common thing among them is the kind of people they assemble. Anybody can assemble anybody just the way Shakau assembled loyal servant who are dying for him in battle field. Assembling of people has nothing to do with intelligence.

So before you take such big space in public platform make sure you aren't going to type such a crap like that. I hope you understand.

I'm proudly one of the religious gullible minds
who believes that a being is responsible for all our actions on this earth...and I dont mind my vulnerability being exploited smiley

thank you for your clear understanding of this.
it is obvious most do know the reason for this law.
by default a woman under Nigerian system has no right what so ever from the husband state of origin.
for me my mum is deltan, my dad from ogun but my mum still sees herself as deltan due to the natural law and constitutional law of indigenization.
but with this law a Yoruba woman, an igbo woman and Hausa married to any other tribe of ethnic group is by default recognized as being part of her husband extraction.

I read all the previous comments and almost gave up on all the youths in Nigeria till I finally read your comment, we do still have intelligent Nigerians. I'm amazed the average Nairalander cant even comprehend such a straightforward news.

I'm not even concerned about the morality or political correctness of the move, just the inability of my fellow youths to comprehend the write up.

If it was such an attractive place why is the Express entry program only attractive to citizens of third world countries ?
