PoliticsRe: Why Is Everyone Praising Jonathan For Congratulating Buhari? by major466(m): 9:52pm On Apr 02, 2015
parkeration:
I wonder why everyone is praising Jonathan for congratulating Buhari on his Presidential election victory? Suddenly he has become a saint and a champion of democracy. To me it changes nothing that he failed as a President.

My 2 cents.
Whether you like it or not GEJ will go down in history as Nigeria's best democratic leader and hero ever, who nurtured the nation's Democratic Experiment from "Do or Die" to "Do and leave when the ovation is loudest".

RevDesmondJuju:
The US owes 14 trillion dollars and climbing.

The US govt went on lockdown in 2014 because of dissagreement in the US congress between the democrats and republicans in funding US debt servicing.

The US dollar is only worth it's value on paper if it remains as the means of global trade other than that the US economy can not sustain the actual value of the dollar. If more Nations dump the dollar the US economy which is now import based will crash. This is why they took out Chavez and Qaddafi. These two men where the very first leaders to hint on their desire to dump the US dollar.

Obama's calculated and deliberate restarting of the cold war with Russia was to disrupt europe's energy dependence with Russia which is piped through Ukraine. By drawing out Putin's aggression, Obama was able to expound on Europe's deep fear of Russia's dominance. Europe has since stoped energy supply from Russia in prefrence of Saudi crude which is still trading in dollars.

Obama's downing of Malaysian airliner over Ukrainian air space was a false flag OP to get Europe wary of Russia's aggression.

Europe alone with it's negative growth can not sustain the US dollar, so America needs other smaller but emerging Nations to stick to their worthless dollar. Nigeria inclusive.
ISIS is an American CIA affiliate to create a pan arabic state that will see over 250 million homogenously arab people under one banner. The likes of Assad in Syria are dangerous because of their pro Russian stance.

Having all homogeneously muslim arab nations under one theorocratic state under the leadership of a lunatic mullah makes sense in washington because the only unifying cultural and political banner for the arab is islamic sharia. Washington knew this very early on. Creating a united pan arabic nation is key to controlling not only large swath of north africa and the middle east but by extension the muslim world which looks to these nations in the arab world.

You deserve an award for this wonderful analysis of US oppression on earth.

Hehehehehe, let the criticism begin!

Am gonna enjoy this mehn...

Even if Buhari fails woefully in four years, APC fans will still support him and ask you this:

How can you compare GEJ's "6years" and Buhari's "4years"? GEJ had more time to work but he didn't, so since Buhari had only four but failed, let's give him another four to make sure he meets GEJ. grin

Chai! Opposition go sweet die! grin grin grin

Let's hope you can fix Nigeria in four (4) years..

I only pray for a better Nigeria and I pray/hope this change is a progressive one..

I also hope/wish that members of the People's Democratic Party will work with this administration to set things right rather than playing a back-biting politics by criticizing all that is done.

OLADD:
Don't just try to compare death with ordinary sleep. Don't dare equate light with darkness. Lee Kwan Yew did not trample on the rights of common masses when in power. He did not circumspect the laws of demand and supply by forcing people to sell their wares below cost price. He did not enact a decree that retroactively snuffed life out of an accuse whose offence did not attract death sentence. Lee did not engage in international high profile kidnapping of his fellow citizen. The architect of modern Singapore did not condemn his govt for killing insurgents. He did not instigate people from his faith to vote only those who can protect their faith.
Exactly. Mr Lee is well grounded in basic laws of economics - demand, supply and the principle of free enterprise. Qualities Buhari lack.

Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew dies at 91

From the section Asia
Lee Kuan Yew gives the victory sign to his supporters in April 2011
Lee Kuan Yew, the statesman who transformed Singapore from a small port city into a wealthy global hub, has died at the age of 91.
Mr Lee served as the city-state's prime minister for 31 years, and continued to work in government until 2011.
Highly respected as the architect of Singapore's prosperity, Mr Lee was also criticised for his iron grip on power.
Under him freedom of speech was tightly restricted and political opponents were targeted by the courts.
The announcement was made "with deep sorrow" by the press secretary of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Lee's son.
"The prime minister is deeply grieved to announce the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the founding prime minister of Singapore," his office said in a statement.
It said Mr Lee died peacefully at the Singapore General Hospital at 03:18 local time on Monday (19:18 GMT on Sunday).

The first prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, who led the country for 31 years, has died at the age of 91.
He had been in hospital for several weeks with severe pneumonia. Over the weekend, people left tributes and messages of goodwill at the hospital as his condition deteriorated.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was "deeply saddened" by Mr Lee's death and offered his condolences to the people of Singapore.
Obituary: Lee Kuan Yew
'Meritocratic nation'
A charismatic and unapologetic figure, Mr Lee co-founded the People's Action Party, which has governed Singapore since 1959, and was its first prime minister.
The Cambridge-educated lawyer led Singapore through merger with, and then separation from, Malaysia - something that he described as a "moment of anguish".

Speaking at a press conference after the split in 1965, he pledged to build a meritocratic, multi-racial nation.
But tiny Singapore - with no natural resources - needed a new economic model.
"We knew that if we were just like our neighbours, we would die," Mr Lee told the New York Times in 2007.
"Because we've got nothing to offer against what they have to offer. So we had to produce something which is different and better than what they have."
Tight controls
Through investment in schooling, Mr Lee set about creating a highly-educated work force fluent in English.
He reached out to foreign investors to turn Singapore into a manufacturing hub, introducing incentives to attract foreign firms.

The city-state grew wealthy and later developed into a major financial centre. But building a nation came with tight controls - and one of Mr Lee's legacies was a clampdown on the press.
These restrictions remain today. In 2014, Singapore stood at 150 in the Reports Without Borders World Press Freedom Index, below countries like Russia, Myanmar and Zimbabwe.
Dissent - and political opponents - were ruthlessly quashed.
Today Mr Lee's PAP remains firmly in control. There are currently six opposition lawmakers in parliament.
Other measures, such as corporal punishment, a ban on chewing gum and the government's foray into matchmaking for Singapore's brightest - to create smarter babies - led to perceptions of excessive state interference.
But Mr Lee remained unmoved.
"Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up," he told a rally in 1980. "I've spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I'm in charge, nobody is going to knock it down."

If there's anyone that comes close to Lee Kwan Yew in Nigeria, it is no other person but GEJ. For any country to develop, private enterprise (Capitalism) must be involved. Goodluck is doing just that. He noted that during the presidential debate yesterday. He's developing Nigeria by providing the enabling environment for private sector to thrive. Something Buhari and APC do not believe in.

xrisdon:
Buhari promised to kill corruption if elected!

http://leadership.ng/news/417280/ill-kill-corruption-in-nigeria-buhari

But here is my personal submission.....

buhari can never kill corruption!!!

he couldn't kill corruption when he had absolute power as military dictator,
but think he can do it now as a constitutional president, what a joke!!!

first, buhari do not know how to fight corruption! supposing he did know, Nigeria would have been corrupt free by now, because buhari was once a head of state!

secondly, l prefer Gej's way of fighting corruption to that of buhari!

buhari believes in fighting corruption by jailing people with little or no care on the root cause!

while Gej on the other hand believes in building corrupt free system that can last even when he is no longer there!!

but unfortunately most Nigerians prefer action with no result,

for instant, do you know how many people buhari would have sent to jail because of fertilizer scam without solving the problem itself!
but Gej came in change the corrupt system that have been there for years even to the time of buhari,
But now it is impossible for corrupt people to operate with the new system without making too much noise about it.
Great writeup. Most Nigerians don't even know what it means to fight corruption. All they want is brute force where people are thrown in jail or shot by firing squard. They careless about preventive measures.
The best way to minimize corruption (Corruption can never be eradicated) is by blocking loopholes and avenues to corruption. And the best way to do that, as you rightly pointed out is by building institutions. Institutions with internal mechanism that is self sustaining and efficient to deal with corruption no matter who is in power. That's what is obtainable in civilized societies. This is an indictment on OBJ because he never fought corruption. All he did was to intimidate political enemies through EFCC.
Those people who are in the habit of accusing GEJ of not fighting corruption conveniently forgot that humans in general possess the affinity to commit crimes. For instance, the penalty for hawking drugs in some countries is dead sentence. Yet people still hawk drugs. Why? Because man has the penchant attitude to commit crimes. So is dead penalty the best way to deal with drug trafficking? Definitely not. So what's the best way to fight drug peddlers? Destroying drug farmlands. That's why some of these countries with high drug related crimes are destroying farmlands where drugs plants are planted and produced to minimize the rate of drug trafficking in the streets.
So is it with corruption. The best way to tackle a problem is from the root. This is what GEJ is currently doing through FOI, free press and information technology (ICT).
