Couldn't agree more. In advance democracies as soon as you signal your intention to run for public office, your private life ceases to be private. Every aspect of your life from childhood, educational background, family, lifestyle, even the clothes you wear will be thoroughly scrutinized. Nothing is left out. But in Nigeria, the moment you ask a candidate running for the number one public office in the land to produce his certificate, he'll cry witch-hunting. You begin to wonder whether the candidate is running for a private office other than public where everything is public.
