If you are going to spend the rest of it life in Canada, apply to Express Entry. Do not think of going through the study permit route cos you will be greatly refused. Cos no VO wants an immigrant to spend the rest of his or her life in their country.. Very funny
UGODDAY:
Good moni, I am rounding up my NYSC by October this year I study chemical engineering and I will like to travel to Canada to spend the rest of my life, so please Friends help me on which step to take now and which VISA in need and how to star the process.

Oga "VO", the said Moniker has done her Medicals already nd passed. Get to the root of a matter before u yarn balls..
GoldenBalls:
This info is inaccurate, a Medical upfront isn't even close to 30% of approval let alone 90%.. its when a medical request is gotten that actually proves a sign of "close" approval

Ita nt a compulsory documents. We have seen peeps that have gotten their TRV without submitting either transcript or Waec result. Waec nd transcript are compulsory documents when applying to a school for post graduate degree..
dubaiboy1:
It wasn't Masters, it was an UG... I applied to Dal 2 weeks ago and I've been accepted. So, I don't necessarily need my WAEC result for my TRV application ?
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 8:26am On Jun 16, 2018
When u were applying to ur school for masters, what WAEC result dis u use? Use dt one for ur Student permit, although WAEC isn't a compulsory document for applying for TRV.
dubaiboy1:
Good morning guys ... I pray all our prayers for TRV approval be answered . Pls I have a question to ask :

If I want to apply for a study permit, can I use a computer printed WAEC result or it is necessary to be the original issued from WAEC?

Thank you in advance...
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 8:11am On Jun 16, 2018
You are over 90% close to getting ur student permit. I will advise you keep mute since they haven't requested for it all dis while. If it's that important, they would have requested for it. So keep calm and when they request for it, then u can submit it. Buh am sure the next mail you would get frm CIC is ur Visa mail. Congrats in advance
Dolzz:
Hello people!

Great job here. I only just stumbled on this thread and I have learnt a whole lot from you all.

Could someone please share their thoughts on this issue:

I applied for student permit (online route) on May 16. Did upfront medicals. Got medicals passed update on June 11. But I read somewhere on the previous parts of this thread that a letter from your bank stating that you would be able to export your funds should be part of the documents uploaded in support of an application for student permit.

I didn't include this when I applied. Should I get the letter and mail it to CIC or should I wait to see if they request for it?

Thank you.

This is easy to tackle... In ur next application,Just convince the VO dt u are a genuine student who will come back to Nigeria after studies. Also convince them why u wanna study in Canada instead of Nigeria.

From Obalende, take a bus going to Lekki/Ajah. Drop at Ikate bus stop. Cross to the other side. VAC is just some few steps from there, good luck.
jydorchem:
Can someone please give me the description to VAC in Lagos?

Hello house, please for those that just submitted their applications via paper route in lagos of recent, how is the procedure now. I learnt it's really difficult not submitting ur application that same day. Please how true is this ?
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 7:56am On Jun 11, 2018
So does that mean that those that have been rejected visa and wanna re-apply won't need to do or pay for biometrics again ?
Phocusjosh:
If you have a valid visitor visa, or a study or work permit, and you gave your biometrics in the past, your biometrics are valid from the date you gave your biometrics for a period of 10 years. You do not need to give your biometrics until the 10-year period expires.

Lets do some little mathematics. April to January = 9 Months. Which means u can't renew now until late July or early August. The VOs know about all this, and am sure they know you can't apply for a new passport now. What they will do is that they will grant you a year visa So when u get to Canada, you can always renew and extend ur visa(With precised explanation) if you going for a two year course. Also the VO can reguest for a new passport buh i DNT think they will do that until your passport is six months to the expiring date.. This VOs can't be predictable tho.. Just ma little cent. Good luck
nivlek000:
Hi Makano,

I'm a bit confused let me clarify a bit.

Applied April 20th.
Passport expires Late January 2019
Intend to travel 3rd week of August 2018 if all goes well

Case 1: If I were to be asked to submit my passport for the Visa stamp, will the visa validity extend past January 2019?

Case 2: If i decided to get a new passport before the Visa is ready, will I be submitting the old or new passport? I am assuming the visa that'll be issued will be tied to the Old passport but you say the new one renders it invalid.

Case 3: If Case 1 is True and then I get the new passport, does that in anyway invalidate the visa stamped on the old one? I am assuming this will invalidate the old passport though.
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 11:44am On Jun 09, 2018
1. It doesn't affect issuance of TRV so far you applied above 6 months to the expiring date. When given he TRV, u can always renew in Canada.
2. Yes. I renewed ma passport 3 months to the expiring date. I think the stipulated period of renewal is 6 months to the expiring date .
3. Yes, immediately you are given ur new passport the Old one is considered invalid even if it hasn't expired. The immigration officials will stamp on the old one to show it's now invalid. You can't have 2
valid passports at a time.. Good luck
nivlek000:
Hi guys,
3 questions.

1. How does the Passport expiry date affect the student visa duration and even chances of issuance?

2. Can one renew a Nigerian passport before it expires? Any rules around that?

3. Also can one have a different (new) passport stamped in place of the soon to expire one?

SOP straight to point as usual
LOE ADRRESSING DENIAL REASONS STRAIGHT
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 6:15pm On Jun 08, 2018
Long post!
Hello house, My SOP is a 12 page document which I know is many. But the reason why this pages r many is cos apart from the normal procedure of writing an SOP, I farabale wrote down points to tackle my previous refusals. Please note I have been refused twice with four reasons each and this is my 3rd application, and I don't wanna be refused the thrid time that's the reason why my SOP is this many. Now to my question, 1. should I leave the SOP like that cos I don't think I wanna remove or delete any sentence from my SOP. Or I should just split it into 2 parts. I.e SOP and LOE.(I know they r both similar). My plan is to write ma SOP and then write ma points to tackle my previous refusals in my LOE. Ur input will be highly appreciated..
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 5:55pm On Jun 06, 2018
Upfront medicals depends on an applicant. If the applicant feels his or her resumption date is close to the time of the application submission, then an upfront medical comes in, but it doesn't mean an automatic Visa cos the VOs checks for other criterials from ur application. Buh if you convince the VO in other areas of ur application, they won't need to send u a medical mail when its time for ur medical check, cos the hospital/Clinic would have sent them a report of ur result ND also they will give you a copy which u will attach with ur application. So when you do an upfront medical, they won't request for another medical, so far u did ur medicals in one of their registered hospital.
cecechi:
Hello everyone, please if you submit upfront medicals, will they start reviewing it or they will request for it again? I hear a lot say that when they request for medicals, then theres a 90% chance of visa approval, sorry for the confusion but i just want to understand the upfront medical thing and medical request. Since there is an upfront medical wont they just start reviewing it? does it mean the same thing?
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 7:47pm On Jun 05, 2018
If you did an upfront medical and submitted with your appliction, it may necessarily NT be a refusal. Buh if u didnt do any upfront medicals, am afraid it's a refusal .You can as well track ur application on the VFS site to know what's up..
HerMonely:
Morning guys. I just got an email saying to come get my passport. I guess its a refusal coz I wasn't called for medicals. Submitted paper application on May 3. I am about to go to VFS. Please what is the next step from here? Will I be told there?

Guys quick question!

a friend of mine was called for medicals. she did it today and she's wondering if she has to upload any document to cic showing she has done the medicals or cic would be updated automatically?

There's no definite answer for this. Advantages of online are as follows: 1. U can submit from the comfort of ur home 2. If u do not have much docs to submit, online is best for dt. U don't need to sit nd wait on the queue to submit ur application. Disadvantages 1. It's more expensive than paper route 2. No guidance from anybody if u are submitting a wrong doc or not. 3. U will still need to wait for a biometrics invite after days of submitting ur application 4.U will also still go to the VFS to do the biometrics. Advantages of paper route 1. It's way cheaper than Online route 2. U will be guided at the VFS center at the point of submitting if u r submitting wrong documents or not 3. u get to do ur biometrics same day u submit(u will need to go early to achieve dis tho). 4.If u hav much documents to submit, paper route is d way. Disadvantage. 1. The major disadvantage is dt u will have to go to Lekki to submit,no matter where u live. Dis not a disadvantage to me tho.. 2. You will need to wait for ur number before u can submit. So d Choice is yours. Good luck
charlyduru:
Please which route is faster online or paper?
Which am I advised to follow as am resuming this fall

Izzit ur religious? We have seen applicants put up a tight application and still got refused and we have also seen applicants that put up a "not so tight application and got their Visas" button line is prayer is key. Necessary documents or no necessary documents ,all still reguires prayers. If u DNT wanna put ur "necessary documents" in prayers, u have no right to stop those that wanna do so.. Respect other people's input.

stop being religious and prepare necessary documents

It depends on what you want. If you are going for Bsc,you can apply with ur Waec/Ssce result. If you are going for PGD,then thats when ur ND result comes in.
DOVpet:
Which one has the greater chance: to apply with my ND result or ssce result. I need your advise in the house

Doing ur own personal research will greatly help.So I will advise you read up from the start of this thread and feed yourself with relevant informations. You can Google canadian schools that offers telecommunication in PGD since u applying with ur ND result. Good luck

Hi Nairalanders.

Yea, it's possible if you do not put up a convincing appliaction that you are genuine student and also if u do not show strong financial background. We have seen applicants who still got refused despite there scholarship offer. All d best

Hello House, I am just curious. Is it possible for an applicant's TRV for schooling purposes be denied if one has scholarship from a Canadian University?

First of all and most importantly, order ND get ur GCMS note to know the actual reasons. Forget travel history,dt is jes Jara. In ur next application , try as much as possible to work on ur purpose of visit i.e try and convince the VO that u are a genuine student and would come back to Nigeria after ur studies. Once u tackle that, travel history would also go. But also try to explain why uve not been able to travel out of ur country. Buh Travel history isn't a tangible reason for refulsal. Ur refusal reasons are easy to tackle. Best of luck
swisster:

I wouldn't exactly close the door on his hopes though his age is not his side, points wise. He may be able to wangle a way in via a provincial nomination. His spouse as the primary applicant may also be a means by which they can pursue PR

Try the CRS calculator to see where he/she stands on their own/how much points they could get via simulation, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Then take a look at the websites of the different provinces to see which own has a sub program either of them could qualify for:
