I learnt they refused someone whose spouse is a PR at niagrafall border and asked her to wait for ircc to complete her online application but i am not sure if she applied online for the work permit and still went to flagpole. But another person of this same situation was approved. I think it depends on the border officer. As for me, i am going to flagpole but after my medical appointment, once that is done, i will head to the border to try my luck. Omobolarin: Hi! Any update on this flag poling ? My spouse is visiting and has a sponsorship on the way, I wanna know if she can flag like for open work permit too |

I learnt it’s not advisable but wait for him to give us the whole experience GodsOwn2004: Congratulations@Emmafe.
I'm interested in getting first hand info regarding this.
Is it advisable to do 'upfront medical'?
Thank you. |

this flagpoling is also advisable b for work permit. I am in Canada now and thinking of applying for work permit since my SS is still in progress and we don’t know how long. Drawer: You don’t need to fly back to Nigeria, all you have to do is go to the nearest Canada/US border and do flagpoling. Drive out of Canada, into US and drive back in. You don’t need any visa to drive into US. That way you have reentered Canada and done your landing. The officer will direct you to an office there at the border where you will complete the PR process. |

I will advise you check this guy’s page on YouTube “hit and submit canada” the guy gives a well detailed explanation on spousal application. Watch most of his updated videos on the application process and thank me later. I used his format when i did mine. i am only waiting for medical request. mikeayus: Congrats on your spousal approval.
Please do you mind sharing your application process and timelines. I'm planning to submit a spousal PR application before the year runs out and like some details and tips from someone who has gone through this route. |

My people i have come again o. Lol,
I am grateful I have this platform to ask questions whenever i am stuck.
Please is anyone here applying or has applied for open work permit in canada based on this recent policy for spouse work permit.
My question is after confirming my eligibility from my answers to the questionnaire, i got 2 forms to fill, one is the work permit and the second i saw was temporary permit form. I am a bit confuse on if i need to fill the second form given that i have a visitor’s record. Please help a friend clarify if you know. |

To those that are already in Canada, please was your passport stamped at the port of entry?
If yes, what happens if one passport wasn’t stamped? |

Lol, I don’t know o, i just couldn’t eat the food they gave us from ams to Toronto. I asked my fellow Nigerians and they all said same thing so I knew it wasn’t just me and i am not the problem. The Nigerian in us said not this one 😂 Ruskov: Biko how was the meal? Was it better than the ones we have at Ethiopia ? |

Exactly, most importantly don’t carry meat. I don’t know how people travel with meat tho. Just go with mostly dry food including your vegetables. Emmafe: Thanks for sharing, we’ve learnt what’s necessary. I no dy declare pass 3weeks, won’t carry anything that will require any checking, I no like stress.
Enjoy your stay! |

I made almost the same error, i was so tensed and praying they dont ask me. My application was 60days I declared 40days And my return ticket was 78days. I was just lucky the guy didn’t ask because the whole thing no balance. So guys be careful when declaring number of days in Canada. Europ2018: Well it’s all my fault though, at the declaration stage I filled I was would be spending 60 days , while my application was just 10days I indicated I would be spending in Canada.
I also declare some food stuff and meat and fish. The officer pull my application started asking me questions from my application , like are you married where do you work , why did you not come with your wife , you apply since 2020 and you did not apply for your wife ?
He ask about the nature of my job , I told him I am an engineer , I explained everything about the job like say na jobs interview.
The funny thing is he ask me how much do I have here I told him 2000k usd cash, he said he want to see it , I could not find the money I left 1500 usd in my wife’s handbag at the airport. I was shock.
So I told him I will use credit card to pay for accommodation, how much do you have access to the card I said 5k usd, I login my bank app I have over 10m there.
Where will you be visiting he ask, I name three places, he for 2 months. Then I told him I will be visiting my brother and friends.
. Make I stop here I done tire to type joor |

My layover was 12hours and i got fed up most times coz we were doing absolutely nothing other than walking round the airport. I think the layover depends on the date. You can contact them to find out about this. lekefew: Congratulations!! How many hours layover in Amsterdam ?
I'm asking because I'm purposely looking for a layover of about 12 hours in Amsterdam, but I can't seem to find any. The max I've seen is 6 hours. I'm traveling to Canada and i have a Schengen visa, I'd like to get out the Airport for a few hours to see my friend in Amsterdam |

You are welcome. The experience with KLM was equally smooth, i mean there was free WiFi from LOS to AMS then to Toronto. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the meal from AMS to Toronto. Other than that, everything was good. Emmafe: Congrats and thanks for sharing your POE experience. Hope KLM experience was smooth, I will be flying with them soon. |

I have landed in my dream country o
The journey was a long one because i had a long layover in amsterdam.
My point of entry encounter with immigration was smooth. The immigration officer was happy for me for finally visiting my spouse and was concerned why i am not living with him yet. So it was more like a conversation. He only asked of the food stuff to be sure there is no meat and where I will be staying in Canada.
No return ticket or number of days question was asked.
I thank God for the journey mercies.
Just thought to update you all.

May that’s the reason applications are faster now. My friend applied jan 2023 and she got ppr today 10th may 2023 Chux911: That's very very wrong
The people that got PPR April 12, the four of my friends.... all their Visa counterfoil says LAGOS as issued location.
It's no longer at Nairobi. |

Okay thank you Alexino360: Nope as long as you have a return ticket you're good but since your spouse have PR you're very okay.... they'll understand you have a spouse so your load is kinda justified |
Travel › Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Makibarbie: 6:52pm On May 08, 2023 |
Wahala. What if one intend spending a month there. Will it also be an issue at the point of entry? I am visiting my spouse who is a PR and my luggage will be more than one oh. Alexino360: And for those that wants to convert from a visitor visa to a study permit (because the requirements are less compared to apply from your home country)
Then apply online from inside Canada But first in other for to be eligible
You must do a short term prerequisite course that qualifies you for admission into that institution or else you won't qualify
👆 This only applies to you if you don't have a spouse who is a permanent resident or on a work permit
But if you have a spouse who has a PR or work permit then you can convert without doing the short term prerequisite courses
OR Or you already have a work permit in Canada then you can convert from a work permit (open or employer specific/closed ) to study permit without the short term prerequisite courses
And the proof of funds isn't that much when converting to a study permit as a visitor
But it's very important to make your own research tho |

I don’t think it’s that difficult. I declared no travel history when i applied and i was invited by my spouse who is a PR. The only home-ties i have is my siblings n father-in-law. I just think is grace because my passport has been stamped. Sometimes we don’t even know what they want . Ajalalomo: You’re very lucky, because I heard that it’s very difficult for people without travel or visa history to get a Canada visa.
Do you have a relative in Canada who invited you or you used hotel accommodation? |

I think it was system error because it’s fine now frankiez33: How can they issue you a tracking number and go ahead to block it. Unless you laid a complaint to them on grounds of maybe you lost access to your email used or phone number if you applied to get sms updates. Otherwise, I don't think it's possible for them to block it for no reason. |

Because we got PPR same day but agent submitted mine after the EID holiday and i am yet to get any update from him regarding collections or stamps.
