I disagree with your assertion.

Russia started the war despite appeal and warning from US and EU but the bully wanted to set a precedent that will make it easier to deter the likes of Finland, Sweden etc from joining NATO but unknown to him, they have been giving him lamba about his military strength. But unfortunately, it drew those countries into his nightmare.

If Ukraine had started the war, US and EU wouldn't have been involved. If Putin had been allowed to bully Ukraine easily, he would have gone for another country in Europe particularly Finland.

I was expecting Iran to retaliate the last Isreal strike having been in bed with Russia and exchange of military notes.

The last Isreal strike in Iran was just a warning and this is the second time that the warnings have been going out from Isreal/US. You will observe that civilian gathering was not targeted unlike Iran attacks.

We are all waiting to see Putin worse!
Ukraine got too cozy with the USA, there were even talks of establishing a USA Army base in Ukraine.
USA has always been envious of Ukraine because they produce so much oil and gas and they are so close to Europe, so all they have to do when they wake up in the morning is turn on the pipelines for oil and gas to Europe and the money keeps coming in all day !!! No one else in the world has this advantage.....Saudi and USA have to add shipping cost to sell to Europe. So they can never beat the price of Russia.

Russia knows the USA, doesn't see Oil and let go e.g Iraq,Iran,Libya etc. The USA has military bases in all these places !!
So Russia warned Ukraine, if your enemy starts buying all the houses around your house, You should be ready for war. Its more complex than Russia is trying to annex everyone. Russia is safeguarding its assets.
If you have a very beautiful wife, you still have to chase men away, even after you marry her....Because some people will still toast her. If Russia is allowed to sell oil and gas to Europe with no disturbance and sanctions, they world order could change.

Putin makes alot of empty noises.

He kept warning and all his warnings are being ignored but still making noise.

Imagine as overated as Russia is, it couldn't defeat small Ukraine, today makes it one thousand days since the war started in February 2022. Now he is importing fighters from around the world including the wretched North Korea to fight his underrated Ukraine.

The guy should be ashamed and accept that sovereign union is gone and gone for good.

Maybe he is relying on the newly elected American puppet to make mistakes that he and Xi Jinping will capitalise on to defeat America.

America is not the president but a group of people who stood as the pillars sustaining the country. The fact that the sodomy policies of the Democrats and childish behaviour of Trump are ignored does not mean the country is now vulnerable.
Russia fighting Ukraine is akin to a 28 year old man fighting an 12 year old tout (agbero) in his territory, no matter how strong that 28 year old is, it will be a tough fight.Because the people pretending to be separating the fight will be restraining the 28 year old while the 12 year old rains blows on him. USA and NATO are providing Ukraine with advanced weapons, satellite surveillance, and logistics. Russia is not fighting Ukraine, Russia is fighting USA and NATO by proxy.

Ask Fani Kayode.
PoliticsAfrican Nations Urged To Sever Ties With Israel by malali(op): 11:34am On Nov 19, 2024
Honorable Femi Fani Kayode, the former minister of Aviation in Nigeria and a Christian leader has called on the African countries to break diplomatic relations with the Israeli regime to push the Zionists to stop the genocide against the people of Palestine and Lebanon.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Iran Press correspondent in Abuja, Femi Fani Kayode also praised the Axis of Resistance, saying that Iran, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Iraqi PMF, and Houthi Ansarullah of Yemen should be called "Axis of Freedom."

"Axis of Resistance fighting to protect the whole of the Middle East. It is natural for people and entities to defend themselves and resist against evil. You are dealing with an ethnocentric state which is completely engaged in killing everybody around them. They killed a lot during al-Nakba. So, These people (Axis of Resistance) said enough is enough, and they stood up and said we will resist you. They are far more than that. It is an Axis of Freedom. These are the people trying their very best to ensure that freedom is foisted not just upon the Palestinians but the whole of the Middle East," he added.

Kayode continued: “That's what is going on there. People are saying enough is enough. Enough of the killing, enough of the butchery, enough of the genocide, enough of the holocaust, enough of the racism, enough of the establishment and actions of an apartheid state. They (Zionists) see Ashkenazi Jews, that's European Jews as being superior to everybody else. They are suppressing the Palestinians, the proper Jews of the land not those that came from far away. What the Axis of Resistance is doing is a noble thing."

"The Zionists are suppressing everybody including Christians and Muslims with horrible vision. An evil vision of the establishment of the greater Israel whose border starts with the borders of Egypt and goes towards the borders of Iran. Their interest is taking everything and everywhere in the Middle East. Resisting this (by Axis of Resistance) is such a noble thing. It's surely a noble thing. And I think that we should commend those who are resisting this evil. They have said no to this evil and no to genocide. We are solely behind those who say no to genocide," he added.

African Countries Should Break Diplomatic Ties With Israel

Iran Press: How do you think African countries will help to push Israel to stop the genocide?

Femi Fani Kayode: The first thing we need to do is to break diplomatic ties with Israel. I already have been saying that there is no gain in having diplomatic ties with the genocidal racist, apartheid state. We should have nothing to do with them. We should sever diplomatic relations with them. We should sever diplomatic links, sever business connections, and refuse to do business with them. We should refuse to even sit with them.

This is because Zionists do not have a place in their hearts for people of African heritage origin. Zionists deter Africans. Zionists deter Arabs. Zionists deter Christians, Zionists deter Muslims. Zionists deter everybody. The only thing that they love is money. They worship money and power. And they are people that ordinarily, no civilization should have dealing with.

I am not talking about Jews, I am not anti-semitic. There are many Jews all over the world who are against what the Zionist regime is doing. Africa can stand up, take the lead, and say no to Zionism.

I am so happy with what President Bola Tinubu said when he went to Riyadh for the Arab-Islamic Summit. I am happy with the way he spoke on behalf of every single one of us. He said enough of the words, something needs to be done. This is not a matter of issuing statements. It is time to go further, to resist what he called "the aggressions of Israel." And I am glad that the Prince of Saudi Arabia called it "genocide". I am glad that the Iranians were there in full force. I am glad that the whole global sounded.

PoliticsPutin Signs A New Doctrine That Lowers The Threshold For Using Nuclear Weapons by malali(op): 10:59am On Nov 19, 2024
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday signed a revised nuclear doctrine declaring that a conventional attack on Russia by any nation that is supported by a nuclear power will be considered a joint attack on his country.

Putin’s endorsement of the new nuclear deterrent policy comes on the 1,000th day after he sent troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

It follows U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to let Ukraine strike targets inside Russia with U.S.-supplied longer-range missiles.

The signing of the doctrine, which says that any massive aerial attack on Russia could trigger a nuclear response, reflects Putin’s readiness to threaten use of the country’s nuclear arsenal to force the West to back down as Moscow presses a slow-moving offensive in Ukraine.

Asked about whether the updated doctrine was deliberately issued on the heels of the U.S.′ decision to ease restrictions on Ukraine using its longer-range missiles to strike Russia, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the document was published “in a timely manner” and that Putin instructed the government to update it earlier this year so that it is “in line with the current situation.”

Putin first announced changes in the nuclear doctrine in September, when he chaired a meeting discussing the proposed revisions.

The new version of the document states that an attack against his country by a nonnuclear power with the “participation or support of a nuclear power” will be seen as their “joint attack on the Russian Federation.”

It doesn’t specify whether such an attack would necessarily trigger a nuclear response. It mentions the “uncertainty of scale, time and place of possible use of nuclear deterrent” among the key principles of the nuclear deterrence.

At the same time, it spells out conditions for using nuclear weapons in greater detail compared to the previous version of the doctrine, noting they could be used in case of a massive air attack involving ballistic and cruise missiles, aircraft, drones and other flying vehicles.

The wide formulation appears to significantly broaden the triggers for possible nuclear weapons use compared with the previous version of the document, which stated that Russia could tap its atomic arsenal if “reliable information is received about the launch of ballistic missiles targeting the territory of Russia or its allies.”

The revised doctrine envisages that Russia could use nuclear weapons in response to aggression against its ally Belarus.

Belarus’ authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country with an iron hand for more than 30 years, has relied on Russian subsidies and support. He has let Russia use his country’s territory to send troops into Ukraine and allowed the Kremlin to deploy some of its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

Politics419 Million People Still Shit Outdoors. by malali(op): 9:10am On Nov 19, 2024
3.5 billion people still live without access to safe toilets, including 419 million who practice open defecation.

November 19 is the UN’s World Toilet Day and this year the theme is ‘Toilets: A Place for Peace’, highlighting how for billions of people, sanitation is under threat from conflict, climate change, disasters and neglect.

As Statista's Anna Fleck reports, according to UNICEF, children who live in extremely fragile contexts are three times more likely to practice open defecation, four times more likely to lack basic sanitation services and eight times more likely to lack basic drinking water services.

In 2022, 419 million people were still practicing open defecation, the most severe level of lack of sanitation service. Nineteen percent around the world did not have access to at least basic sanitation, defined as a private toilet connected to sewage piping, a septic or composting tank or a pit. Forty three percent of the global population did not live with safely-managed sanitation, meaning that their sewage was not treated properly, posing severe health risks to them as it enables pathogens to re-enter water supplies.

As recently as the year 2000, 1.3 billion people were still defecating outdoors, with grave health consequences. The UN has been working to eradicate the practice and has made some progress. In 2017, the number of those without access to any bathroom had sunk to 673 million and finally to 419 million in 2022.

Gains remain to be made in Sub-Saharan Africa, where steady population growth continues to put pressure on sanitation services. Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nepal and India saw the largest fall in outdoor defecation since the year 2000, reducing it from affecting around 70 to 85 percent of the population to seven to 20 percent.

The latter country has been particularly ambitious in installing proper toilets. Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, more than 60 percent of India's population didn't have access to a household toilet. Since then, billions of dollars have been invested under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ("Clean India"wink campaign. According to UN numbers, open defecation was reduced to affecting 11 percent of the Indian population in 2022.

My concern is that when Obasanjo is no longer with us, who in Nigeria will have the courage and integrity to speak the truth fearlessly, irrespective of whose interests are affected?

Easy way to solve the INEC Chairman selection. All the opposition parties should nominate 10 people. And then they should be screened by Senate and all those necessary. Then the incumbent president should choose 1 person of the lot. So all the opposition have to do is choose 10 people with integrity.

Problem solved.
PoliticsObasanjo Demands INEC Chair’s Dismissal Over “rigged” 2023 Elections. by malali(op): 4:58am On Nov 18, 2024
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the dismissal of the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, and officials of the commission at all levels as part of a reform of the electoral process in Nigeria.

Mr Obasanjo made the call in a paper he presented at the Chinua Achebe Leadership Forum, Yale University, in the United States. The annual lecture honours the late Nigerian writer, Chinua Achebe.

He delivered the address, titled “Leadership Failure and State Capture in Nigeria”, in a pre-recorded speech played at the event.

In his speech, Mr Obasanjo described the 2023 general election as a “travesty”, adding that the reform of the electoral system is a key agenda for the country.

The former president also called for shorter tenures for INEC officials and a more rigorous vetting process to prevent the appointment of partisan individuals.

“As a matter of urgency, we must ensure the INEC Chairperson and their staff are thoroughly vetted. The vetting exercise should produce dispassionate, non-partisan actors with impeccable reputations.

“Nigeria must ensure the appointment of new credible INEC leadership at the federal, state, local government, and municipal – city, town, and village – levels, with short tenures to prevent undesirable political influence and corruption, and to re-establish trust in the electoral system by its citizens,” he said.

He argued that “The INEC Chairperson must not only be absolutely above board but must also be transparently independent and incorruptible.”

Mr Obasanjo said the commission willfully failed to utilise two main technological tools at its disposal—the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Election Result Viewing Portal (IReV)—during the 2023 presidential election, despite the promises made by Mr Yakubu.

“The BVAS and IReV are two technological innovations that, prior to 2023, were celebrated for their potential to enhance the accuracy and transparency of our election results, eliminate the threat of election rigging, and boost public trust in electoral outcomes.

“These technologies were touted by the INEC chairman himself. In the end, these technologies did not fail. INEC wilfully failed to use or implement them, which resulted in widespread voting irregularities. It was a case of inviting the fox into the henhouse,” he said.

INEC’s credibility battle
INEC faced criticism after the last general elections, particularly over the failure of the IReV platform during the presidential election, which INEC blamed on a technical glitch.

The IReV platform was central to post-election litigation, but these cases were dismissed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and the Supreme Court.

PREMIUM TIMES also published a special report showing how Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, won the election in Rivers State based on IReV reports, while INEC declared President Bola Tinubu the winner of the state.

Mr Obasanjo backed Mr Obi during the last presidential election and, during the collation of results, called for the cancellation of some results that did not pass the “credibility and transparency test”. His call for the then-president to halt the collation was widely criticised by many.

INEC has also faced criticism over its conduct during the Edo State off-cycle governorship election.

Concerns have also been raised about the appointment of partisan individuals to leadership roles within INEC.

PREMIUM TIMES previously reported instances of partisan individuals being appointed as Resident Electoral Commissioners. In the most recent appointments by Mr Tinubu, four nominees were found to have partisan affiliations, particularly to Mr Tinubu’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

While Mr Obasanjo made strong arguments for electoral reform, his record in overseeing elections during his presidency is not impeccable.

The 2003 and 2007 elections under his tenure were widely regarded by local and international observers as some of the worst in Nigerian history.

The winner of the 2007 presidential election, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, acknowledged that the election was flawed and initiated electoral reforms, although these were not completed before he died in 2010. His successor, Goodluck Jonathan, continued the reform process.

Mr Yakubu’s tenure
Mr Yakubu was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and was reappointed in 2020 for another five-year tenure. His tenure is expected to expire next year.

PREMIUM TIMES contacted the spokesperson for INEC, Sam Olumekun, to get the commission’s reaction to the call by the former president, but he did not answer his calls or respond to a text message sent to his phone.

Africa is too big to fail—Iheka
In his remarks, the head of the Yale Africa Initiative, Cajetan Iheka, said some of the questions Mr Achebe raised in his book The Trouble with Nigeria are still relevant today.

He argued that intellectuals must go beyond asking questions and begin to provide answers.

“Ours is thus an intellectual exercise but also a socio-political project. As we deliberate, let us heed Achebe’s demand that we take a hard and unsentimental look at the crucial question of leadership and political power. But we must also do so with civility and respect—the kind of civility and respect that Achebe modelled and commanded with his grace and dignity.

“To that end, how do we discuss and tackle leadership in Africa without involving those who have had the privilege of leading and those who aspire to lead? We are thus grateful to their excellencies and other distinguished guests who have travelled to engage with us today,” he added.

Karoline Leavitt “is smart, tough and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People,” Trump said in a statement on Friday.

Leavitt, who served as national press secretary for Trump’s campaign, gave birth to her first child in July ahead of the election. She previously worked as an assistant press secretary during Trump’s first term and later as communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who has been nominated as UN ambassador.

In 2022, Leavitt ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing her home state of New Hampshire.

Reflecting on her political journey, Karoline Leavitt told a Fox News podcast, “I didn’t grow up in a political family. I grew up like most Americans in a middle-class business family here in my home state of New Hampshire. I just dove into politics at my college, Saint Anselm College, in Manchester (New Hampshire).”

Leavitt now takes on the critical role of being the face of the White House, tasked with communicating the administration’s message and fielding questions from the media.

The Kano royal palace was a beehive of activities on Friday as relatives, friends, and dignitaries gathered to witness the turbaning of DSP Aminu Sanusi Lamido as the Ciroman Kano by the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

LEADERSHIP reports that the traditional title of ‘Ciroma’, reserved for a crown prince and heir apparent in the Kano Emirate system, is of significant traditional importance. It also carries responsibilities, including oversight of certain districts within the Emirate.

The grandfather of the new Ciroman Kano, DSP Aminu Sanusi Lamido, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, held the same traditional title until his passing in the 1990s. The title was most recently held by Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who later served as Emir of Bichi before his removal in 2024. This makes DSP Aminu the 17th holder of the prestigious title.

Speaking during the ceremony, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II said his son was chosen for his loyalty, philanthropy, and service to the community. “I chose to honour him with this crown because of his good nature and philanthropy,” the Emir stated.

He further praised DSP Aminu’s educational achievements and contributions as a police officer and his work at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). “You inherited the title of Ciroma from your grandfather, and you will now be the 17th to hold this title. I urge you to walk in the path of righteousness they have paved,” he added, while urging him to emulate the virtues of discipline and respect.

In his acceptance speech, DSP Aminu Sanusi expressed gratitude to God and the Emir for the honour. “I thank His Highness for this honour and pledge to serve the Kano Emirate diligently,” he said.

The event attracted a host of high-profile guests, including Kano State governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, clerics, traditional tittle holders and prominent business figures in the State.

BusinessNigeria Inflation Rises For Second Month, Spurred By Food by malali(op): 4:57am On Nov 16, 2024
Nigeria's inflation rate rose for the second straight month in October, advancing to 33.88% in annual terms from 32.70% in September mainly due to higher food prices, official data showed on Friday.

Inflation quickened sharply in the second half of last year after President Bola Tinubu devalued the country's naira currency and cut subsidies to try to lift economic growth and shore up public finances.

It started to ease in July this year as the impact of the naira devaluation began to fade, but a series of petrol price increases and severe flooding that has wiped out crops again spurred price pressures, exacerbating the worst cost-of-living crisis in decades in Africa's most populous nation.

A report by the National Bureau of Statistics said food inflation reached 39.16% year-on-year in October from 37.77% the previous month, caused by price rises for staples such as rice, maize, bread, potatoes and cooking oil.

Torrential rain and floods in 29 of Nigeria's 36 states this year have destroyed more than 1.5 million hectares of cropland, making millions go hungry and causing mass displacement.

The central bank has hiked interest rates five times this year to try to get inflation under control. It is due to announce its final rate decision of the year on Nov. 26.

Mumu, you should have gone through their chambers of commerce, have the man verified, sent the money through official channels, instead of wiring it to him.

Used escrow with contingency so that he cannot access the money without documents signed and he agrees on what purpose the money is for.Verified his documents and how long he has been in business.

When your use ill-gotten money to do business, you dont do the necessary checks and balances because na awoof money.

Commonsense Senator........Taaaaaah.....MUGU.
