U.S. oil refiners are planning to reduce output during the third quarter amid falling margins as demand begins declining from its seasonal peak. Bloomberg reported that Marathon Petroleum planned to reduce its capacity utilization rate to 90% at all its 13 refineries, which is down from 97% for the second quarter. PBF Energy was going to cut its processing rates to the lowest in three years. Valero Energy would be reducing its operating rate from 3 million barrels daily to 2.86 million bpd. This is the lowest processing rate in two years. Phillips 66, for its part, was planning to cut processing rates to the low 90s in terms of capacity, which would be down from 98% in the second quarter—the highest in five years. “Compressed refining margins are setting up the stage for another round of heavy refinery maintenance in the US during the fall season,” Vikas Dwivedi, global oil and gas strategist at Macquarie, told Bloomberg. “That’s going to weigh on balances and may add to crude builds in the US for the rest of the year.” U.S. crude oil inventories have been declining for six weeks in a row now, suggesting healthy demand for fuels during peak driving season. However, as the summer ends, demand normally starts declining as well, motivating refiners’ adjustments in production. Pressure on refining margins is an international concern in the industry, mostly because of China’s significant processing capacity, which has pressured margins elsewhere, even as Chinese refiners scale back on production. According to Bloomberg NEF, global crude oil inventories are expected to swell by the end of the year despite the addition of new refining capacity, notably Nigeria’s Dangote refinery and Mexico’s Dos Bocas facility. The rise in crude oil stocks would come from production ramp-up in Guyana, according to Bloomberg’s energy forecaster. By Irina Slav for Oilprice.com

All that removed subsidy will be Jamboreed away if care is not taking, Tinubu's administration is spending the subsidy money faster than they are removing the subsidy and they are borrowing more at an even faster rate with minimal results. Obasanjo paid subsidy paid petrol subsidy Paid forex subsidy His IG of police was arrested and prosecuted for graft issues. Tinubu is allowing everybody be a cowboy, no one is being held accountable. |
Antitankweapon: Can you tell yourself the truth ? Do you like living in a lie ? |
We will believe it when we see the petrol.

Antitankweapon: I am Nigerian. If we liberated SA, Lets liberate ourselves too from corruption and bad governance. |
caye:Keeping cash in the bank at 26% inflation is the most stupid thing anyone can do. If you leave hundred naira, at the end of the year it can only buy you 74naira worth of items now because you lose 26% to inflation. Best thing is to buy treasury bills, once you keep your emergency money in the bank. Buy treasury bills. Thats the money the government never fails to pay. If bank collapses you lose your money. Treasury bills "never" collapses, even if they do a coup, they will still pay treasury bills. |
Antitankweapon: Numbers dont lie. Worry about your own head. |
It’s a painful reality that Nigeria continues to squander its resources on failed ventures, and yet, the leadership seems unfazed. Recently, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) reportedly wasted a staggering ₦90 billion on hajj logistics, only for a sitting governor to call out the process as subpar. Just when we thought that level of incompetence was behind us, we witness another colossal waste—₦9 billion spent on an Olympic outing that brought back nothing but disappointment. These are not just numbers; they represent missed opportunities, wasted potential, and a national disgrace. Under President Bola Tinubu’s watch, this trend of throwing good money after bad is alarming. It speaks volumes about the people he has chosen to surround himself with—individuals who are evidently more skilled at mismanagement than at delivering results. Nigeria’s failures on the global stage, whether in religious affairs or sports, are not just embarrassing—they are a direct result of the president’s inability to hire the right people and fire the wrong ones. Leadership is not just about making grand speeches and promises; it’s about assembling a team that can deliver and having the courage to remove those who can’t. The Olympic disaster is a case in point. Nigeria’s athletes trained hard and gave their best, but they were let down by an administration that failed them. How can we expect to compete with the best in the world when those in charge of our sports have no clue about logistics, planning, or motivation? This was not just a failure of our athletes but of the system that was supposed to support them. The same goes for NAHCON. How does a commission burn through ₦90 billion only to deliver a hajj experience so poor that it draws public condemnation? This is not just incompetence; it’s a gross misuse of public funds. Yet, those responsible remain in their positions, unaccountable for their failures. President Tinubu must understand that his lukewarm attitude towards accountability is costing Nigeria dearly. It’s not enough to simply appoint people and hope for the best. There needs to be a rigorous process of monitoring, evaluating, and holding people accountable for their performance. Those who succeed should be rewarded, but those who fail should be shown the door—swiftly and decisively. Nigeria cannot afford to continue on this path. We are a nation with enormous potential, but potential means nothing if it is wasted by those entrusted with leading us. The president must take responsibility for his appointments. He must demand excellence and integrity from those who serve under him. And when they fall short, he must have the resolve to replace them with people who can get the job done. This is not just about avoiding future embarrassments; it’s about the future of Nigeria. A nation that rewards mediocrity and excuses failure cannot hope to progress. President Tinubu, the time to act is now. Show the slacking administrators the door, and let’s start building a Nigeria that works for all of us.

F.G should come out and explain the fuel condition to populace. Tell them the petrol prices fluctuate. Tell them how much the government can afford to pay as subsidy. If fuel is 1000 naira landing cost tell them the government can afford to pay 200naira. Fuel price will be 800naira at pump. If it rises to 1200 naira landing cost then the government will still pay 200 naira. Fuel price will be 1000 naira at pump. If it falls to 600 naira landing cost then the government will pay 200 naira. Fuel price will be 400 naira at the pump. Thus you are going fro removing subsidy to placing a Buffer-System. You cannot remove subsidy, because if Russia retaliates by cutting energy to Europe and Iran also blocks the strait of Hormuz, Landing cost will rise to 2000naira. Nigerians will start #Tinubu must go. Get your media team out and explain the process to everyone earlier rather than later. |
So that you will shoot and kill all your opponents ?

Sub-nationals fighting back. Not a single governor has come out to say how he spent the money or what he did with it. Nobody can do anything about it. 573 Billion. |
We are going from democracy to palliatocracy. “palliatocracy” Is a system where the focus is on managing symptoms rather than curing the disease, with the government opting for temporary fixes over lasting solutions. |
Bigger doesnt mean better, South Africa is light years ahead of us in development

lexy2014:Whats your level of education, i have made the mistake of arguing with someone mentally challenged in the past. You seem to want everything literal, you are not open minded to rhetorics or idioms. You want me tell you when the policies will be felt by Nigerians, Am I God ? It seems you are just here to argue. If you are open-minded to a civil discourse/debate. let me know |
The same Ado Doguwa that "allegedly shot and killed people" during election to reappoint him to senate. He was taken into custody and locked up in prison. He was cleared by Gandollar administration. Now he is dressed in royal attire, like a responsible person. Someone who should be in jail (Obasanjo was right) INEC said he was announced as a winner because the INEC official had a gun pointed to his head

lexy2014:I dont think you read my initial response, i am supporting Tinubu fiscal policy implementation method because as long as i am concerned, the petrol and forex subsidy will be looted by the politician. But kperoogi saying the zanga-zanga will deny him northern alliance is all bullshit. Once election comes and the nothern leaders share money and appointments they will sell us all out again. Even the northerners are loyal to their stomach not to their constituents don't be deceived. Buhari was there for 8 years, Show me the development in kaduna/katsina ? Look at all those hungry alamjirai that came out to protest. Buhari could have set up major vocational study schools for them. Not everyone has to be western educated, they could have learned Tailor,cobbler,mechanic,Trading....Now we have people without livelihood, after a small time one politician will marry 100 women off and the cycle continues, Lets own up to some of our mistakes as well. I am not a fan of Tinubu but lets see what he does by first half then we can assess him. Even ronaldo and messi dey miss penalty, That doesnt make them the worst players. |
citizenY:Tinubu is yet to pay anyone the 70k We owe approximately $110 billion dollars in total national debt. Tinubu has already borrowed at least $6.5 billion in addition to the previous. Obasanjo paid down the Debt, since he left they have been increasing the Debt. Now they are increasing the debt without paying petrol or forex subsidy. |
Sannisege:I would have preferred Obasanjo's third term to Buhari's 2 terms Not supporting Obasanjo 3rd term bid.....But see where we are today. We owe so much, we are only able to service the debts(pay the interest) And we are servicng the old debts with new debt. Obasanjo paid all of Nigeria's Debt, while paying petrol and forex subsidy at the same time ! |
Thundafireseun: If you ask me there should be: 1. Congressional Oversight • Role: Congressional committees, such as the Senate Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee, conduct oversight of the EFCC. E.g When they broke into a womans hotel room. EFCC Chairman should be queried. • Function: These committees should hold hearings, review actions, and can issue reports or recommendations regarding EFCC operations and appointments. 2. Special Counsel and Independent Investigations • Role: Special counsels or independent investigations can be appointed to oversee investigations involving high-level officials. • Function: These appointments are designed to provide additional oversight and prevent conflicts of interest. (Yahya Bello's case should also be brought to the public, he should be charged to court with EFCC being the government's plaintiff and Yahya Bello being the defendant, lets hear both sides.) |
Sapasenator:Gani was a badass. He had a scholarship program as well, He gave monetary scholarships to a lot of us, he did not know any of us from Adam, he gave to anybody regardless of background, ethnicity, religion. May his soul rest in peace. That was when Nigerian had Men that "stood on business" and couldn't be compromised. |
SmartPolician: I agree with you, we need the voices of people like Obasanjo to push these people to do their jobs, Tinubu does not have the balls to do it, The other former presidents are too timid to lend a voice. |
Thundafireseun: Everybody knows EFCC is Tinubu's attack dog They will never go after any senator unless he falls out with the powers that be. We are in a corrupt system. EFCC is “politicization of law enforcement.” |
Thundafireseun: We have a senate running amok, they believe they are not answerable to anyone. If at all anything they believe they are more powerful than the president because they can vote to impeach him. The legislative arm of government needs to be tackled and cut down to size. Thats why Akpabio makes some crazy comments every now and then. In his mind he is the Alpha and Omega of Nigerian government. |
Sapasenator: I thought keyamo was going the route of Gani Fawehinmi...not knowing he was a hungry dog waiting for a juicy bone. Wole Soyinka should have replaced Tai Solarin, but the man has been dining with politicians like he doesn't have a pension plan. Idrees Abdulkareem has tried, but he just doesn't have the international recognition Fela Anikulapo had. |
Sometimes i am worried, that if Baba Iyabo passes on who will be able to look the governement in the face and say the truth. 1-He stood up to Abacha, when everybody else was afraid. 2-He Paid down the total national debts, when he was president. (While still paying petrol and forex subsidy) 3-He stood up to the cabal when Yaradua died and goodluck jonathan's succession was in doubt. 4-Wrote a harsh letter to GEJ, when his financial excesses were deemed too much. 5-Has currently cautioned Tinubu that his subsidy removal and fiscal policies are not lower-cadre citizens friendly. 6-He has now come out to say NASS salary fixing is immoral. We cant help but write this mans name in history. Chief Olusegun Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, Balogun of Owu. |
The Nigerian Senate has strongly refuted recent allegations suggesting that it determines its own salaries or receives special financial packages from the Presidency. The claims, which emerged during a visit by members of the House of Representatives to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, have ignited public concern. In a statement issued by Senate Spokesman Yemi Adaramodu, who represents Ekiti South, the Senate labeled the allegations as an attempt to “crucify the legislature by the centurions of political hypocrisy.” Senator Adaramodu clarified that no Senator has received any financial patronage from the Presidency. He explained that the constituency projects often associated with the legislature are suggested and nominated by Senators, consistent with practices in other democratic nations. The chamber challenged anyone with credible evidence to present alternative facts, dismissing suggestions that the National Assembly fixes its own salaries as “uncharitable and satanic.” Furthermore, the Senate clarified that the Executive arm of government, through its various Ministries and agencies, is responsible for awarding contracts for constituency projects. Adaramodu reassured the public of the 10th Assembly’s commitment to being a “responsible and responsive chamber.” The Senate reaffirmed its dedication to upholding Nigeria’s economic and developmental goals, insisting that it adheres to constitutional allocations and does not seek additional perks from other branches of government.
