akintom:Read it one more time and point were I contradict myself, let us start there. The substance is in the heart which you cannot see because you belong to the pagan world, why did the pagan at antioch first call the apostles christian ? |
There are differences between Christianity and
religion, Many are GOING TO CHURCH but few
are GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHICH LEADS TO
LIFE. Many are RELIGIOUS but few are RIGHT
WITH GOD.
Religion is DOING while Christianity is DONE.
When Jesus cried on the cross, "it is finished"
The work of our salvation was FINISHED, DONE,
ACCOMPLISHED and COMPLETED. A religious
man may be likened as a man who try to swim
from river kaduna to niger by his own strength,
he will never make it. But the man who is save
by faith is likened to be a man who get on a
ship, hoping it will take him to his destination.
This man simply rests upon the ship and lets the
ship do all the work.
THIS ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RELIGION
AND CHRISTIANITY.
1. RELIGION: "Salvation is something I must do. I
must somehow earn or gain salvation by the
way I live."
CHRISTIANITY: "Salvation is something only God
can do. Salvation is of the LORD!" (Eph. 2:8-9).
2. RELIGION: Religion is summed up in one
word: DO--man trying to DO different things to
please God and earn His favor.
CHRISTIANITY: Christianity is summed up in one
word; DONE--Christ dying on the cross to save
sinful man (John 19:30).
3. RELIGION: The religious man is busy
"working" (doing good works) in order to
be saved.
CHRISTIANITY: The saved person is "not
working" (Rom. 4:5) but is RESTING upon the
finished work of Another. Although he must
beware (1 peter 5:
4. RELIGION: RELIGION is man trying to BRING
HIMSELF TO GOD (by human effort, good works,
ritualism, traditionalism, sacraments, etc.).
CHRISTIANITY: CHRISTIANITY is Christ
BRINGING US TO GOD on the basis of what He
did for us on the cross, NOT by our own effort.
(1 Peter 3:18).
5. RELIGION: Man trying to please God in the
wrong way (Rom. 8:8--"So then they that are in
the FLESH cannot please God" .
CHRISTIANITY: Man truly pleasing God in the
only way (Hebrews 11:6--"But without faith it is
impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him" .
6. RELIGION: The religious man is seeking to
establish his own righteousness by ignoring the
way of the righteousness of God (Rom. 10:3).
CHRISTIANITY: The saved man is satisfied with
the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ (2 Cor.
5:21).
7.RELIGION: Religion is pictured in Genesis 3 by
the fig leaves that Adam and Eve made for
themselves--a terrible covering (Gen. 3:7).
CHRISTIANITY: Salvation is pictured in Genesis 3
by the coats of skin which God provided by way
of the shedding of BLOOD--a perfect covering
(Gen. 3:21).
8.RELIGION: CAIN'S RELIGION--"I bring to God
the labour of my own hands" (Gen. 4:3).
CHRISTIANITY: ABEL'S FAITH--"I bring to God a
blood sacrifice. An innocent substitute must die
to save me" (Gen. 4:4).
Good works done by sinful man can never
please a holy God. The greatest good work is
GOD'S WORK accomplished by Jesus Christ who
offered Himself on the cross as the sinner's
Substitute. Thus we are not saved by good works
but we are saved unto good works: "For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto
good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10).
"For it is God which worketh in you both to will
and to do of his good pleasure" (Philippians
2:13).
Are you resting fully in the finished work of
Christ? Are you trusting in Jesus Christ, WHO HE
IS, WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR YOU and WHAT HE
HAS SAID IN HIS WORD? "Look unto me, and be
ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God,
and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:22). |

mustymatic:are you not the one that gave the dictionary meaning of abrogation ? A prophecy fulfilled is not a abrogation. |
mustymatic:Which of the verses are abrogated ? The quran was not reveal in chronological order, how can you know which verse is replace ? Moreover, early Islamic records show that many of the Surahs (Chapters) were not revealed to Muhammad at one specific instance but were delivered piecemeal over a period of time. The Islamic records also show that some later verses were added to earlier Surahs under the direction of Muhammad. One example of the disorderly chronology is that Surahs 2:193, 2:216 and 2:217 were revealed at the beginning of Muhammad’s arrival in Medina. And it took another SIX years to reveal Surahs 2:190, 2:191 and 2:192. Yet Surah 2:193 (which was revealed six years earlier) was inserted to follow Surah 2:192. How could it then be known which contradicting verses were the more authoritative? Without context and chronology, the “abrogated” and “abrogator” verses render the entire Qur’an irrelevant. For example, if one verse encourages slavery and another condemns it, which is to be believed and followed? |
EyeHateGod:atheists and muslims with same spirit and hatred. Hardly you see atheist criticise islam. Your parent are christian, am I right ? |
mustymatic:There are big difference between made and form, The term "made" is translated from Hebrew word # 6212, which basically means "to PREPERE,"and the word "formed" is translated from Hebrew word #3335, which means "to form, FASHION, frame." Example : Isaiah 45:18, "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that FORMED the earth AND MADE it;" In other words, God "prepared" every living thing in Genesis 1, but did not actually bring it into physical form until Genesis 2! Genesis 2:4-5, "This is the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were MADE, in the day in which the LORD God MADE the heaven and the earth, and every herb of the field BEFORE it was in the earth [before it was formed], and all the grass of the field BEFORE IT SPRANG UP [before it was formed], for God had not rained on the earth, AND THEIR WAS NOT A MAN TO CULTIVATE IT [why was there not a man to cultivate it? Because no man was yet formed!]. " "Not a man to cultivate it" this imply the herb and animal were MADE before man, But when we come to the "forming" of them, we see that, at Genesis 2:7, Adam was "formed" before the animals, then, at Genesis 2:19, the animals were "formed." Then, at Genesis 2:20, Adam named the animals. And lastly, at Genesis 1:22, Eve was "formed" from Adam's rib. Now, back to topic, if you cannot answer my question, why are you a muslim ? |
Surah 16:101: “And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, – and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth – they say: Lo! thou art but INVENTING Most of them know not.” (Pickthall) This Qur’anic verse shows that a number of people living during the time of Muhammad were troubled at this concept of abrogation. In response to the claim that new revelations superseded the older ones, they said to Muhammad, “Thou art but inventing most of them "And they are absolutely right. Surah 13:39: “Allah makes to pass away and establishes what He pleases, and with Him is the basis of the Book.” (Shakir) If Allah in the Qur’an manifests himself as the arbitrary god who acts as he pleases without even honoring his own sayings, then he is acting in a way that is totally foreign to the truths taught in the Holy Bible. God does not change and neither does his teachings. Every instance of abrogation is a problem for the doctrine of an unchanging God. Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change..." |
To abrogate means to abolish, annul, rescind, repeal or revoke. The concept of abrogation in the Qur’an is that Allah reveals a verse in the Qur’an that invalidates an earlier verse in the same Qur’an. This may lead to numerous difficulties for the readers of the Qur’an. if the Qur’an is the genuine Word of God, then the commandments written in it must by no means be abrogated. Its contents must remain intact and its messages unchanged. And amazingly Allah agrees: Surah 6:115: “The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. NOTHING SHALL ABROGATE HIS WORD. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.” However, note the contradiction in surah 2:106: Surah 2:106:“Whatever verse WE SHALL ABROGATE , OR CAUSE (thee) TO FORGET, we will bring a better one than it, or one like unto it. Dost thou not know that God is almighty ? ” (Sale) This lead to so many question like : 1. How can a Muslim know what is abrogated and what is not? 2. Since the abrogated verses still exist in the Qur’an, what is the use of these abrogated verses for Muslims now? 3. Would not this pose a problem for the ordinary readers of the Qur’an to verify what is abrogated and what is not? 4. How would an average Muslim know what is abrogated and what is not, when even scholar disagree among themselves as to the numbers of verses that are abrogated? 5. Would not this then mean that the Qur’an requires someone of a higher scholastic level to understand it and therefore it is not meant for the average Muslim? 6. Why replace one verse with another if they are similar. If the Qur’an is the Word of God, should it not be perfect from the start? How can one perfect verse be better than another perfect verse? So, how can Allah claim to substitute his perfect verse with something better? How can a divinely perfect revelation be improved upon? Caliph Umar similarly stated the following: “Two men read a Surah which the apostle of God had taught them, yet one night they rose up to pray BUT THEY FAIL TO REMEMBER one word of it. The next morning, they went to the apostle of God and related it to him. He told them, ‘ IT IS ONE OF THOSE WHICH HAVE BEEN ABROGATED, thus, forget about it …”’ (Refer to the Itqan, 3:74). Wow, Can you believe this? Not only is the forgetfulness of the Prophet is taken as an indication of abrogation by Allah but even the forgetfulness of ordinary Muslims were considered as such. What happened to the written verses. Were they also made to disappear by Allah? Does not this prove that much of the Qur’an was not put into written form during the time of Muhammad? |
APCsupporter:Surah 6:115: “The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. NOTHING SHALL ABROGATE His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.” And then later, allah change his word, he abrogate it: Surah 2:106: “None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We SUBSTITUTE SOMETHING BETTER OR SIMILAR: Knowest thou not that God Hath power over all things?” (Yusuf Ali) Now, Answer the following question, if properly answer, you will discover lies is being told some where. 1. 6. What if a Muslim followed a command in the Qur’an that was actually abrogated and did not realized it ,would it be counted as sin? 7. Why should the Qur’an abrogate parts of itself? 8.If the Qur’an is the Word of God, should it not be perfect from the start? How can one perfect verse be better than another perfect verse? So, how can Allah claim to substitute his perfect verse with something better? How can a divinely perfect revelation be improved upon? |

truthmans2012:weldon sir, long time, happy to know you are alright. Bless you. |
sonofluc1fer:Did you have evidence that God does not exist ? NO!! But you believe God does not exist, in fact, the atheist faith is bigger than the religion folks. |
sonofluc1fer:And what if is the other way round ? You are wrong and I am right ? Indeed it take a giant leap of faith to be an atheist. |
lepasharon:as if you know everything going on in his private life. |
Scholar8200:perfect bro, the people you are teaching, their heart has turn cold, NO matter what you say, they will find fault, your first post has already debunk this thread, his opinion don't count. God bless you my good friend. |
akintom:The word is used in NATIONAL term and not personal term: Genesis 25:22-23, "...And she went to enquire of the LORD. And the LORD said unto her, Two NATION are in thy womb, and TWO MANNER OF PEOPLE shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." Moreover, the text say the elder shall serve the Younger. Jacob never did exercise any power over Esau, nor was Esau ever subject to him. Jacob, on the contrary, was rather subject to Esau, and was sorely afraid of him; and, first, by his messengers, and afterwards personally, acknowledged his brother to be his lord, and himself to be his servant (see Genesis 32:4; 33:8, 13). Esau was a reprobate nation hence the hate. |
Most religions say Jesus was a great teacher or prophet. So focus on that great teacher. Until you do, God will remain a blur. Consider a worst-case scenario. Suppose another religion were right and instead of following that religion, I became a Christian. Many religions would say the Christian life is reasonably moral. So, according to them, although I would miss top spot, my life after death would be fairly comfortable. A few claim that if I ignored their religion, after death I'll cease to exist. I can handle that. Some say I'd get another chance through reincarnation. That's not too bad. But,relative to almost all religions, Jesus increased the stakes enormously. If he is right and I ignore him, the consequences are unthinkable. In addition, unlike most other religions, Jesus leaves his believers certain that they will enter heaven. Other religions typically place so many requirements on their adherents before they could be considered worthy of heaven that their followers endure a lifetime of uncertainty as to whether they have met those requirements. To determine if Jesus' teaching is from God requires divine insight. Whether God grants a person this spiritual understanding hinges on a single factor. That critical factor, said Jesus, is your willingness to obey God (John 7:17). Why should God brother to open your eyes to spiritual truth if you are unwilling to respond to that truth? Yet, few of us are prepared to pay that price. It involves a willingness to relinquish our hopes and dreams for the future, to forego our pet sins and anything else God may ask. Such abandonment seems crazy until we consider who God is. The God who made and sustains the entire universe is the source of all knowledge, moral goodness and love. That means he is good, he is trustworthy, he has our best interest at heart, he is wiser than us and he loves us more than we love ourselves. Obeying God is the smartest thing anyone could ever do. Until we acknowledge this and are willing to obey God, we obviously don't want God in our lives. We might want him as our slave, or as a curiosity, but not as God. If so, why should God waste time giving us the spiritual discernment to know whether Jesus is the only way to God? Until we rectify this, we can expect God to let us remain spiritually confused, subject to the deceptive powers of anti-God influences, unable to determine which religion is right. |

FriendChoice:Surah 22:5: “O mankind! If ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, consider that We created you out of dust…” (Yusuf Ali) Here, Allah is saying no prove is needed to manifest his power since his initial act of creation is sufficient for man to perceive his creative powers. In other words, there is no need for Allah to further demonstrate his creative powers. I repeat, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF JESUS MIRACULOUS CONCEPTION IN THE QURAN ? If you cannot answer this question, why are you a muslim ? The miraculous conception of Jesus just could not have been for the purpose of a manifestation of God’s power as there was no visible demonstration of God’s power for humans to behold when he caused the conception to take place. The miraculous |
FriendChoice:why dint allah allow jesus to be born normal ? What is the purpose of the virgin birth ? If you cannot answer this question, why are you a muslim ? |
FriendChoice:see this dishonest muslim, I ask you a question, what is the purpose of the virgin birth in the quran ? Answer pleas. Why must jesus be born of a virgin ? Did not the quran claim mary was a virgin ? Your accusation include allah also. |
FriendChoice:Adam was created without the agency of a human father or mother because, as the first man on earth, he could not have had earthly parents. Such an act of creation was necessary at the beginning of the world of mankind. Someone had to be created first. But in the case of jesus, we see God interrupting the process of pro-creation in other for jesus to be born , WHY ? Does the quran give reason for this ? What MANNER of MAN is jesus that God will interrupt the process of pro-creation for him to be born ? It point to the fact that jesus has a FATHER and SON RELANTIONSHIP with God. If God want to manifest his power, the creation of the universe is enough, even the quran say so. Or do you want to deny that God did this without a purpose ? Jesus had an exceptional and unique beginning to his life on earth. As he was the only man in all human history to come into the world in this unusual way, we cannot be satisfied with the Qur’an’s summary declaration that it was no more than just an exercise of God’s power. It is only in the BIBLE that the reason of the virgin birth is given. |
FriendChoice:he begat with magic ? How did mary give birth to jesus ? |
