Is the boy going to Cambridge?

My sister relax.
But as a parent, I would recommend this site www.childcarebay..com for more information about child reading habits, writing skills and lots more.

This is a wonderful site that ppl cares. Thx, after the 1st advise I was relax. When I read more it makes me laugh and smile the more. LUV U ALL
Glad to hear you found the rest of mind we all recommended. Parenting is a very important job and should be taken with all seriousness too. We must equip ourselves and not just rely on the default position of just flowing along with the tide. Study what it means to be a successful parent. The child will succeed us and whatever we plant in them, we reap in the future. What we write on them is indelible and so we cant afford to be careless with our 'scripting' on their little precious lives.

I checked out the forum www.nigerianparentsforum.com and it was really insightful too.

Take care.
Way to go peacettw! just the correct attitude! they will all learn how to talk, walk and read eventually anyway and there is no record keeping of how early you did this or that at the end of the race so all this pressure and stress parents give themselves and transfer to their kids is so totally needless. Most important is if your kid is a normal and happy, healthy and well balanced one.

Current space ship builders watch out for burnt out syndrome o!lol grin cheesy wink
Indeed, there is the real issue of getting kids to do what they should do at the right time, push them before the right time and when they should really be studious, they balk because they have become bored with the whole thing. That explains why most of the 'overachievers' I have come across, child prodigies revert to childhood antics when they are supposed to be responsible.
Parents beware of this danger when trying to live up to the Joneses.
Lol. yes some parents do try but i'd say a high% dont even bother. you can imagine those who thinks teaching their kids their native language automatically means they will have 'accents' which they(parents) dont want however, for some reasons when this kids are grown the same parents will be looking for every tom and harry to teach their kids their language and their cultures and some will even be willing to pay undecided

thats good!getting the best of both worlds. the most important imo, is the university edu

yes i would(?) buthavent gotten the last stamp on it though undecided
I always wonder the Nigerians even back home here would not bother to teach their kids their indigenous languages? A carryover of colonial mentality I dare say? terrible but the way it stands now, we can hardly impart our cultural values without the vehicle;our local languages. Its shameful to say the least.
FamilyRe: Writing Skill Or Techn. For 2yrs Old Boy Help Pls by mamamia2: 3:29pm On Jun 21, 2010
Its all about peer pressure wink even for us as parents, we tend to succumb to what others are saying abt their own kids but really we DO need to learn abt being parents. Pls see www.nigerianparentsforum.com for more info
FamilyRe: To Whom Does The Child Belong To In Nigeria? The Father Or The Mother Or Both? by mamamia2: 1:14pm On Jun 21, 2010
Is the child old enough to speak out for himself if he is abused? I recently read in a related forum about the ill that befalls a child when parents separate and the kid lives away from either of the parents. Its appalling and to protect the interest of the child, when parents decide they can no longer live together, the welfare of the child should be mutually agreed upon by the parents before separating. This is better done before bitterness sets in and the kid is used as a weapon of punishment from one parent to another.

check out this abuse story in this link under 'Stories About Children From the World's Most Popular Media' in http://www.nigerianparentsforum.com
It is shocking and outrageous! embarassed
FamilyRe: Writing Skill Or Techn. For 2yrs Old Boy Help Pls by mamamia2: 1:05pm On Jun 21, 2010
For goodness sake, he is NOT old enough to write yet not to talk of entering nursery 1, That explains why he is not willing to write yet, in most good schools, he is only qualified to be in play school where they are only encouraged to scribble IF they wish too with fat crayons because their age possess the psycho motor skills for only that.

Please dont stress the smart boy and confuse him. Let him write when he wants or is ready to.

Especially if the mother gives enough time spacing to allow her surgery 'wound' or scar heal properly before taking in again.

PoliticsRe: 2-yr Old Baby Sues Lagos State For N500m by mamamia2: 9:18pm On Jun 13, 2010
Am shocked that Nigerians think its funny and money grasping for the traumatized parents to sue for the careless actions of the hospital staff. This story had pictures of the scar on the poor baby. The scar alone is enough reason for the sue if am asked. To think that the writer finds the issue funny is appalling to say the least. Have we become so dead in our brains to know when we have been wronged and to seek redress?

FamilyRe: A Birth Story - Experiences Of A First Time Mother by mamamia2: 1:21pm On Jun 08, 2010
Consultant, just coming into this thread and its splendid. Very real and candid. Also balanced. Was in stitches when I cam to the hubby reading your mind. Wise man!

Induced labour certainly is no piece of cake but it does make the birth faster and safer. 2 of my 4 deliveries were 'assisted' by hormonal induction. My 2nd delivery was virtually a whizz, practically PAIN-FREE yes I mean I delivered him without any pain, I did not 'labour' he just popped out 5 minutes after I arrived in the hospital.

Would love for you to share your in this link pls:http://www.nigerianparentsforum.com
FamilyRe: First Pregnancy. First Labor. First Baby. How Was It? by mamamia2: 2:18pm On Jun 07, 2010
@Ronelle,my first pregnancy good up until the last 3 months. i was just getting bigger and bigger, i could hardly move. drank about 8 bottles oh big Eva bottled water, use the toilet every 20 minutes etc. i was later diagnosed of gestational diabetes, was admitted for about 2 weeks and was on insulin Thur out. it was really hell. eventually had a c.s at 8 months and my baby weight 4.7kg.
i really hope the second wont be like that. My baby is now 7 months and she is the most adorable thing you have ever seen.
C.S is not as bad as people make it sound. i am thankful i had it cos i don't think i would be able to go Thur the stress of labour and all. yes there is pain after all but with strong pain killers, i was up and about by the next day.and as for the scar. its not even visible.

The were careless at the health place you were using because by 24 weeks they should have suspected gestational diabetes and made you take the glucose test. This could have prevented a CS.

Thank God for safe delivery anyway.

Hey you can have home birth jare AND without any pain killers too. Dont mind all these ayinbo talk of epidurals. How did our grannies do it? I have had 4 kids without epidurals and survived it well too. Though if its a 1st, you may need a stitch or 2 for the expected episiotomy. If you can have an attending midwife with you at home, go ahead and have your baby at home.
FamilyRe: My 2-Year-Old Son Is Mean :( by mamamia2: 11:29am On Jun 07, 2010
cheesy sorry but he still has some 3 or so years b4 he stops running to your bed between you and your wife hehehehe! smart kid(trying to stop any other person impeaching him from his kingship position of 'lastborn')

The best thing to do about tv monitoring is to provide them with enough interesting distractions like reading exciting stuff in good goods geared towards their age. I zap my kids with loads of great books and comics and they dont remember the cable tv is there.

Wish you the best!

Hmm, to be on the safe side, I think you should follow Labella's advice. ADHD isnt so strange if you read about children and problems in behavior. It is unwise to just shrug it off that boys are boys and allow your son and all the people around him suffer needlessly. Attention Deficiency is a real problem and should be treated as malaria is treated.
