Good news for all those hoping to write CBT in Nigeria.
I got this in my inbox from Pearsonvue. This means the petition has yielded fruits. Kudos to all those who helped signed the petition.
Hence forth, NMC CBT candidates in Nigeria will be able to pay for the test themselves using their debit or credit card following the steps on the attached
Hence bye bye to extortion from Pearsonvue Centres in Naija especially Bellaz education Centre, Surulere and their crooked Centres in Naija that charges you double of the fee NMC indicates.
I can’t forget how they collected 85k from my friend instead of 60k equivalent of the test fee. The thing pained me, I felt like shouting on them. But God don catch them. End of an extortionist

@ adayoung, can u pls put me tru on how to write CBT b4 ielts tns

When you register on NMC UK site; it will ask you if you have Fufilled the English language requirement. If you answer yes, the system authorizes pearsonvue to allow you sit for CBT. This is not advisable tho, best you conquer IELTS or OET first, coz those are the real obstacles in the UK RN journey.

Manchester vs Salisbury vs Leceister, anyone have first hand information about life in any of these cities?

Thanks

Leicester is a city with Low cost of living. It has a very high population of Indians, it is the Indian captor U.K. It’s just about 2hrs drive to LOndon.
Manchester is one of the major cities of the UK. Cost of living is low compared to London. Plenty Nigerians and other Africans are there.
Don’t know Salisbury.

Hi guys,

Kudos to a good job here I'm in for some advice. My sis has just got a conditional offer from an NHS trust after an interview. I want to understand the processes involved for NMC registration. She has RN/RW from a SON and midwifery and also a BSC in Nursing. She is planning to sit for IELTS UKVI Academic now, I've also sent her a link to the NMC CBT links from Barbie. Are NHS/Uk agencies okay with just passing the CBT? I understand you have have to do the final OSCE when you are on ground

Where/how does NMCN comes in? Apologies if this is a "should know" answer.

Has anyone recently migrated to the UK here that can assist?

Many thanks

After she must have passed the minimum requirement for IELTS for NMC UK, she will sit for CBT exam
After passing CBT, she will pay online at NMC UK website for registration where she will download some documents to be filled and sent to NMC UK. As well as upload some documents
After NMC has received all documents and she has uploade the ones to be, she will then submit online.
She will wait to get a Decision Letter from NMC UK, btw 30-60days. After Decision letter, she will get her COS from her employer and she can also do her medical at Ikeja or Abuja. Then is to apply for her work visa
After visa, get to the UK, prepare and do OSCE exam
Pass OSCE and become a UK RN.

What agencies did she use to get jobs pls?,

For ur questions:
1. With CBT most hospitals employ as band 4 and prepare the candidate for the OSCE exams, and upgrade to band 5 after the OSCE.

2. After the CBT then she will need to register with the NMC UK. These will require paper works from her primary nursing school, NMCN, and she'll need police clearance. It's at this stage NMCN comes in.

My wife recently passed her CBT and we are eagerly in need of jobs in the UK. Someone should kindly guide us on how to go about it too.

Thanks

Register with Medacs or Envertiz. They will get you a job in a week

Plss assist me with contact in the nursing council to assist us with filling NMC form on a fast track. Thanks.

My advice is best go to Abuja and do your verification directly there. You will get all the fast track in Abuja that you need. If you submit in Lagos, they will waste your time, it can even take up to 3months.

Hello all,

Please I need your advise on this. If a person who has been to the UK on several occasions, has had a student visa, 6months visas on 3 occasions, 2 years once, and then renewed a 6months visa. coz the person planned a visit around the time and couldn’t afford a 2years or more visa. Unfortunately, the person couldn’t go on the planned trip after obtaining visa for some reasons. So, the visa ran out without using it.
Now, the person wants to apply for a tier 2 work visa, do you think the non usage of the last visa of 6months will have any effect on this visa application. Is there a need to explain the non usage of the visa in this application?

Nice thread here,I'm an Arts graduate wt a BA in International relations.I intend to travel to the UK in march but not on a student visa. Pls wat is the best route to follow that would guarantee a nursing certification..tnx

As how, I don’t understand? If you need a nursing certification, go and enroll in a nursing school, or a nursing degree at a university or some college. Nursing certification is not picked on the ground, neither is it bestowed upon you, you have to get the proper formal education to get one.

the easiest way to pass the cbt test is to study past questions and answers that are specifically for the test this is because most of the questions were repeated . Royal marsden textbook is better used to prepare for osce not cbt.

Okay, I pray for God’s direction. Thank you. If you have materials on past questions, please kindly upload it here for me. Thank tou

@mamathemama I wish you success in your exams and I hope you are studying the right materials. Meanwhile it's good that you have someone who can help you out with the payment, after all these is over, you can call Bellaz to ask why she is overcharging. I'm curious to know the reason behind the extra 15k. cheesy

Thank you so much My cousin in the uk has helped me to pay and it was even 60k.
I’m actually using the materials you posted here. Reading the Royal Marsden manual from Pali to Pali Although, someone here said reading that text book is a waste of time. Do you think so? I think I need it tho, coz I have graduated for almost 6yrs and all those book wise things not really there like that again Pls can I private message you or can you give me your number via pm. Thank you for the support. God bless you.

@hunnybee is on point, if you are taking the exam in Lagos, you can use bellaz. Her contact is online. Give her a call, she ll make the payment on your behalf.

Yes, I intend to write the exam with them but I sent them a message and they said the fee is 80K, meanwhile Pearson wrote £130 which is equivalent to 65k. So I am wondering what the extra 15k is for, especially when it is the approved Centre itself. Is that suppose to be agency fee or what, cos I believe Pearson will be paying them money already. I have asked my cousin in the UK to pay it for me. I don’t like paying mumu money to anyone. I wonder why we like to make life difficult for ourselves in this country ☺️ It is well. I will revisit the matter after I pass my exam, for now, I need to study.

You'll have to put a call through to the center you intend to sit for the exam, then they will forward you their official account number (bearing the business name) you'll make the payment there and send them your Pearson username and password too... Or better still, go to the center in person and sort it out.

Okay, thank you for your swift response. I think I will go to the centre after Christmas. I have tried calling them, the lady said they have closed till after Christmas. I will probably go next week , coz I need to secure a date since I already prepare to take the exam in January.
Thank you.

wow, are you indeed a nurse, that you call your profession a poo.True, nurses are under valued in the Nigerian society, yet you are suppose to be proud of what you do. I tell people nursing is lucrative, but if you are in it for money, then you will only end up frustrated and intimidated. It is always such nurses that start superiority war with doctors. Nurses are unique and not on the same league with doctors because we are higher intellectually, morally and socially. Nurses ashould never feel they are lesser than doctors or act as a doctor or wannabe a medical doctor. Do you ever see a doctor act like a nurse? I bet no. When you are unique and true to your profession, people will respect and honour you. Whether your pay is low or not, being a nurse alone should make you feel like a king, because nurses are Kings. Wear your profession like a royal regalia, and see many bow at your feet. Make other medical professionals jealous of you that they wanna be like you. When you speak, speak with knowledge, and see your words taken as authority; when you act, act skillfully and professionally that othersuse you as a yardstick in their doings. My greatest reward so far as a nurse, is when I look into my client's eyes and I see the appreciation/ gratitude, then I know I have made a difference in someone's life. Ask yourself, what do you achieve at the end of each shift you take, what difference have you made in your patient's life on your shift, other than, medication administered, I/O monitored, report and handover notes written?
All these abroad nursing, we are all aspiring to do, is built on the fundamental principles of simple empathy, autonomy, benevolence, knowledge and skills. As a qualified nurse in Nigeria, what have you brought to the table? I AM A PROUD NURSE AND WILL BE A NURSE AGAIN AND AGAIN IN ANOTHER LIFETIME. Goodluck to us all in our search for greener pasture, but Nursing is never a poo, even in Nigeria.

camobri:

Infact, thats why many are rushing into the profession. Lol. Many of them think once you finish. U would just land the abroad job without exams.
Im just looking at them. Yea, Nigeria is bad for every profession. If I Can't migrate, I would ultimately look for lecturing work. Can't do the shit they call nursing work in Nigeria, much more, as a guy.

In as much as you are personally convinced, it is progression and if it does make sense to you, then you should be able to convince the ECO too. Then make sure you forward your application to the home office before your current student visa expires, because if not, you will have to come back to Nigeria to apply

Question1:
Please I greet una!!

Supposing I was able to justify the reason for applying for second masters in Data Science, and the University deems it fit to issue my admission and CAS number. Would I still have issue convincing the ECO about my academic progression when I apply for the visa, given the fact that I finished Sept 2018. Or the University will settle it with UKVI?

NB: I had my first MSc in Economics, now contemplating between Msc Data Science or MBA. I love the two courses but I prefer DS because of the recent waves in Data handling and insight creation, trust me DS is groundbreaking and My MSc Economics was Just an eye opener of how Data can impact business, economics, finance, product and services.. Plus higher potential salary motivates me too!!

But how do I stand chance of convincing the ECO given that my university was willing to admit me due to my numerical and programming skills.

Do you advice I apply the Visa from Nigeria or the UK as the school resumes January!!
