NWA: You just finished shooting a film in Indiana, USA. Can you tell us a bit about it.?

DS: Yes. Sure. The film currently being shot is titled ‘ Entangled Web’. It’s directed by Bayo Alawiye and produced by Taiwo Amosa (Omo T) in Indianapolis.
NWA: Tell us about your affiliation with the African Filmmakers Forum (AFF) in the US?
DS: '...I was a bit disillusioned with what was happening with our entertainment associations back home, where we had no true representation with all that was going on. We did not really have structures and I felt sad that we call ourselves brands that people look up to and yet we had no true representation and we could not belong to bodies that really truly represented us. When Bayo mentioned setting up this association, about two years ago I applauded the idea because I felt it would be different from the norm....

Nollywood producer/director Mildred Okwo has teased us yet again with her much anticipated series ‘The Banker NG’ – which is based on the antics and lives of characters in the fictitious Sun Country bank. 1. Time And Chance
We have ‘Time and Chance’ – a Rok Studios Production in conjunction with Royal Arts Academy. The movie stars Benjamin Touitou, Bimbo Ademoye, Bobby Michaels and many others. You can watch it on IrokoTv so make sure you have subscribed.

2. ‘Reach’ – ‘Reach is the story about a lady who decides to throw caution to the wind and follow her heart which entails love with a younger eccentric photographer. The movie stars Bolaji Ogunmola (who I must say is really catching our eye and going places) , Deyemi Okanlawon, Bimbo Ademoye, and the current best actor AMVCA Timini Egbuson etc. It can be watched on Iroko TV.

3. Eze Ngwongwo Na Jakarta (expertly played by Yul Edochie) who traveled and returned from Jakarta, Indonesia to his village in the East and then became the village gangster, committing a lot of havoc in the land etc. Superb acting from the person I like to call ‘the man with the golden voice’ Yul Edochie, who practically embodied the character. Those of you saying the film (King Of Boys) was bad are just pure bad belle. It was a very interesting, real movie... the only parts I didnt like were the killing of her children; very unnecessary if you ask me. Even if they had killed the adopted daughter they should have left the son and then allowed him to come into his own like a Michael Corleone in 'The Godfather'; after all he is his mother's son. But they ended up both getting killed in a very cheap way. That part was very annoying.

Nollywood actresses Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo are up in arms about a known abuser of women being made a patron of the AGN! It all started with a video a couple of days ago by actress Hilda Dokubo, who expressing her shock and dismay at seeing Sen. Isiaku Elisha Abbo being made a Patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). The 2020 AMVCA Awards have come and gone and some people are still reeling in shock that Kemi Adetiba's 'King Of Boys' did not win a single award despite being nominated in several categories. It almost seemed like a massive snub. Was it that people did not vote enough? If anybody knows anything about awards they will know that they are highly political... The death has been announced of a Nollywood stalwart, great soldier and a gem in the person of Frank Dallas, a former actor and past AGN PRO. He is said to have died of an apparent heart attack while attending a seminar in Aba, Abia state.

Who are Nollywood’s current leading men? By leading men I mean those suave, well-spoken, well dressed actors you imagine as the ideal man … that make you momentarily pause what you are doing as you watch them on your screen and lose yourself in the world they invite you in. You super-impose your face on the face of their ‘lady loves’ (Sorry actresses!) and believe that every word he is telling them, he is actually telling you! Even if it is just for 90 minutes… and it doesn’t stop there.
1. Blossom Chukwujekwu

1.When it comes to Nollywood leading men the first name that comes to everyone’s lips is Blossom Chukwujekwu. Talented, good looking with a rich baritone voice to boot, Blossom easily steps in the shoes left vacant by previous leading men. He burst on to our consciousness with the movie ‘Flower Girl’ and cemented his status with an unforgettable performance in ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door, a role that garnered him the coveted AMVCA Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since gone on to act several other equally intriguing movie roles where he continues to show his acting prowess.

2. Kunle Remi
Kunle Remi is such a breath of fresh air…. likeable, funny and very talented he leaped into our consciousness when he acted in the movie ‘Falling’ alongside Blossom Chukwujekwu and Adesua Etomi, and has gone on to prove his mettle in productions such as ‘Tiwa’s Baggage, Sobi’s Mystic ‘Tinsel’, Forbidden where his role as Demilade Doregos has endeared him to many. He is certainly one to watch in this year.

3. Sweet, fresh-faced Ayo Ayolola is a revelation! We first noticed him in a clip in the soon-to-be released series by Mildred Okwo titled ‘The Banker’ before getting a bigger taste of him in the Africa magic series Ajoche but he made his biggest mark in the webs series ‘Skinny Girl In Transit’ as the irrepressible Mide and most especially as the audacious Aminu in RedTV’s ‘The Men’s Club’. He has a die-hard cult following who understand when he says; ‘I am a forest!’ Lol We are patiently waiting and looking forward the next seasons of the series this year.

Mace Entertainment & Zee Entertainment titled ‘Deceptive Measures’ – a scripted series that involves both local Nigerian cast and crew which includes Mike Godson and a cast of other talented actors. Deceptive Measures is a remake of the popular Indian series Pavitra Rishta. The series was shot on film locations in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria and was directed by Uduak Obong. The first season will consist of 52 one-hour episodes.
