Sports / Brazilians Express Admiration For Nigerian Footballers At Rio 2016! by mamazita1(f): 12:37am On Aug 08, 2016
I always say the golden years of Nigerian football were from USA '94 to the 1996 when the Nigeria team made the world stand up and take notice. It seems ordinary Brazilians still have a healthy respect for the Nigeria football team judging from this video clip. Meanwhile Oghenekaro Etebo became the first Nigerian to score a hat-trick at the Olympics. He netted 4 goals in total!

Watch the video of some Brazilians telling a member of the Nigerian football squad about his favourite Nigerian players here!

omosexy1: This will make a fantastic movie. Do know why our history are not portrayed on pictures so that our children can learn. What we have are stupid I LOVE YOU MOVIES and now afrocandy has added nudity to it.
A movie on this is currently being shot by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen called 'Invasion 1897'. It is amazing. You guys should watch out for it. The British invade Benin, exiled the Oba and took away many priceless artefacts including the famous Ivory mask (of Queen Idia) used as Festac '77 mascot! You are right its about time we use film to tell our history but most times producers with these intentions face bottlenecks. Also the issue of sponsorship. A movie on this kind of topic should not be funded by an individual. What happened to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism? The Government of Edo state? Not to mention highly place sons and daughters of the Great Bini kingdom? It is not enough to blame Nollywood producers who use their hard earned personal cash to shoot commercial films they know will sell. They have to be supported.Anyway,Check out the trailer of the movie here http://www.nollywoodaccess.com/2096

Culture / Re: Ondo Chief Bayo Akinnola Dies At 78 by mamazita1(f): 11:06am On Mar 25, 2013
The Lotin!! Aargh! Had no idea he had died! Awww! May his soul rest in peace. I was privileged to meet Chief Bayo through a friend who invited me for his birthday party in Ondo. It was an event to remember. A three day celebration on his farm with plenty to eat drink and be merry about. There was even hunting in the evening where he and his friends would go with guns to hunt bush meat on his extensive farm which was later turned to asun to be roasted and eaten by guests. Never have I met an old man more jovial and cheerful than Chief Bayo. He cracked joke after joke and was the life of the party, enthralling us with gist about his travels around the world. Of the many stories I heard the one that sticks in my memory was how he rewarded his driver of 25yrs. After driving him for 25yrs, he decided to retire the driver and also do somethg for him. He told him about a piece of land he had in Ibadan that would need supervising. The driver supervised the building of the structure on the land and when it was completed and the key given to Chief Bayo, he handed it back and said 'No! This house is for you! I was deeply touched by that story. I left there with an indelible imprint on my mind of this great man. Sun re o, Baba! Rest in perfect peace.

@Nagoya Why not read it first before assuming? And FYI I am not Igbo. Im an objective Nigerian.
Politics / Re: Tafawa Balewa Was An Intelligent Man by mamazita1(f): 11:41pm On Feb 03, 2012
The problem Southerners had with Balewa was that he was seen as a puppet set by the British who wanted someone they could control when they reluctantly left Nigeria.  They couldnt have done that with a Zik, or Awolowo etc.  Southerners also felt Balewa was indirectly being controlled by the more powerful Sarduana of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello who was the Northern premiere but had backing of the British as well as the Military which was Hausa-dominated (and still is). His death really was not necessary but unfortunately he was in the wrong position at the wrong time. As someone said on the thread, we really need to read up on our history. its very interesting.  See these links to see what led to the killing of Balewa and others which consequently led to the Civil War.

Family / Re: My 2-Year-Old Son Is Mean :( by mamazita1(f): 8:20am On Jun 03, 2010
Ive been reading the replies and I must say I have had a good laugh! All those saying they should " leave the boy jor", dont have to live with him,do they? But I dont envy you my brother.  However the thing is that he is your son.  You cant throw him away so you have to either sink or swim together.

I have a friend who has a son with similar traits and what she did was to ban the watching of DSTV's Africa Magic in the house! It may sound funny but was one of the only times the little boy sat still to watch with rapt attention was when they are showing homevideos or Africa magic.  Immediately it is over he will start exhibiting all the aggressive, 'Nzebu-zebu' behaviour he sees there! grin So now the TV is permanently on BBC's CeeBees! Its annoying in that when he is there no one can watch anything else but if it makes the house much calmer the better for everyone. The good thing is that he now hugs everyone like Oyinbo, and sings their songs and speaks fone like the instructors in the CeeBees programmes! lol Barney too is a great hit as well as other nice kiddie programmes. Please absolutely no violent films even cartoons! e.g do you know for a child Tom and Jerry is violent? It may sound funny but have you noticed how they always try to kill each other and everyone is laughing? To the child that is a reality! Its seems like fun.  It is we adults that know its a joke. He does not. Remember he is two.
Another thing is that you need to teach him social graces; How to relate with other people in society and be acceptable e.g: saying 'thank you' after collecting something, saying 'please', adding 'Aunty' or 'Uncle' after older people's names etc. They cant just learn it. You have to teach them. e.g when you want to give him biscuit or something and he comes and snatches it or brings his hand to take it you say, "Say thank you, Daddy" he will repeat it. Next time he tries to collect again, you ask, "what do you say?" he will answer "thank you" and when he does that, you praise him by saying 'Good boy!" Dami is a good boy! etc. I tell you he will want to hear more praise and recieve more hugs from you!
Another thing is reduce if possible eliminate his sugar intake! Sugar gives energy and makes you upbeat and hyper, especially Coke and caffeine. If you must/ want to sweeten anything use honey. Also some biscuits are very sweet so you have to note them.
Most important you have to let him know you are the boss! Children like to see how far they can go with you but you have to let them know they can only go so far and that there are consequences for actions.  If he does that, this is the result.  Create a routine for him and stop leaving him running wild and doing whatever he likes. He will cry and try to resist but secretly he will admire and respect you. That is the way of life and you are preparing him to face life in the world, yes even at two! He is not too small. Just make sure the consequencies are commensurate with some one of his age. So I wish you the best.  Dont worry,God will give you the grace.  You have just the first 8yrs to really influence a child so make sure you catch him while he is still young> All the best!
