mrvitalis: Tinubu that openly told Buhari to just print more money? Helicopter money like he called it
During Buhari first term Tinubu boys and girls held the economic aspect and the nation nosedived
There is nothing Tinubu is doing now that was not obvious under Buhari people where just to blind
The nepotism? South West APC cornered 70% plus of all the post APC zoned South
The bad economic policy? Buhari first tenure was handled economically by Tinubu recommended boys I really don't know what Tinubu's APC had done to make Nigerians now think he's doing reforms to favour us. Any reforms you're doing that is sending the people into further hunger is not reforms. Anyone comparing Buhari's 8yrs with Tinubu's 1yr of hunger is not being fair with the truth. Under Buhari, Nigerians afforded basics essentials of life. Today under Tinubu, Nigerians can barely eat, yet someone is comparing both. |

Racoon: Doyin Okupe is a monumental disgrace to adulthood. Political sycophancy is a horrible disease. dude is even comparing saint Buhari's 8yrs to Tinubu's disastrous 1yr. He should be ashamed of himself. For 8yrs, Nigerians did not protest hunger protest under Buhari despite his failure. In one year, Nigerians have protested two times under Tinubu all because of hunger. Buhari's major failure was insecurity. Tinubu's covers all areas of life. What is working under him? |

MadamVanessa:

Whether Simon Ekpa is there or not, Nnamdi Kanu is there or not, the fact is, the ideology of Biafra is indestructible; it has become an integral part of our collective consciousness and is here to stay. I must admit that my own affinity for Biafra has grown exponentially, and I now dream of it every day. Unfortunately, the Nigerian government's ineptitude and insensitivity have only served to strengthen my resolve.
I was once a proud and patriotic Nigerian, but those sentiments have long since faded. I am now, and forever will be, a staunch supporter of Biafra. The day Biafra gains independence is the day I will return home permanently, eager to contribute my skills and experience to the development of our beloved nation, even if it means volunteering my services without expectation of payment. the tribalism in Nigeria stinks, no thanks to the kind of leaders we have. People who see from their sectional lens alone. I don't know what rocket science it's to unite a country. They seem to make very easy things look difficult. The last 2023 election is nothing but a unity breaker, and nothing serious has been done by this govt to heal the wounds. Tribalism and ethnicism is our greatest problem. |

If anything, this throwback tweet seems to even suggest that the man has thought this thing through and is not just offering a knee-jeck solution.
The FG really need to try and explain the tax laws in a language primary school pupils can understand. They may also need to use influencers and popular figures to throw more light on it before all these enemies of states lie about the tax bill about things that the tax bill did not say and then run away with the lie. Oga, what does taxing business and high networth individuals more mean? Doesn't it translate to taxing the poor more? U can't tax Dangote higher without him indirectly putting this into what he produces, this applies to all businesses. |

How Nigeria employment improved under Tinubu is the greatest wonder of the world. It's just unfortunate! |

Macphenson: We are talking about VAT. Good you just mentioned banks, every state will start demending VAT from the banks operating in their respective states.
Seriously, personally I want this bill to be passed, its going be very interesting in the counrry. Tinubu wan start fight wry him no go fit finish. Imagine every state demanding 60% of their vat for every business that operates in their state. You can't operate in my state, earn in my state and pay tax to Lagos just because your corporate office exists in Lagos. |
Politics › Re: Ohanaeze Joins Southwest, South-south, Northcentral In Backing Tinubu Tax Bills by Mandate1: 9:24pm On Dec 02, 2024 |
casualobserver: That is a falsehood. Lagos makes the vat it does right now because the head office of moist companies are in Lagos.
Under the changes the vat will be credited to the states where the product was consumed.
An example: all the vat on Dangote cement, MTN, Glo, airtell first bank, Zenith etc is currently attributed to Lagos. If you buy cement to build houses or concrete roads in Ebonyi the vat goes to Lagos. If you make a call or bank in Ebonyi the VAT is attributed to Lagos. Under the new law if passed the vat on the cement, telecom and banking services in Ebonyi will be attributed to Ebonyi state.
So clearly the vat that was going to Lagos will go down, the vat going to Ebonyi will go up. Lagos and Ebonyi will keep 60% of their vat and the rest will be shared amongst all states so each state will actually get more than 60% of its VAT.
This will encourage governors to attract development to their states because they will get more money from VAT from activities in their states. how will they make the calculations without creating double taxation? The North will learn the hard way. They over buillt Lagos with FG money, making it so financially dominant. Today, table don turn. |

Politics › Re: Nigeria Tax Reforms Bill 2024 - How Does It Affect You? by Mandate1: 7:34pm On Nov 30, 2024 |
Support this bill at your own peril. Nigerians are already being over taxed.
The question is, how many Nigerians are in the formal sector that earn less than 800,000 that are being taxed? What is the percentage tax derived from them?
They are sweet talking it to mean they are taking tax off them, but indirectly adding it to VAT. VAT of 10% in a comatose economy will further send the people into poverty.
The govt said they will remove import duty from certain essentials almost a year now, nothing has been done.
A cleaner who earns 60,000 today might be taxed 6-10%, that's not more than 6000. Govt removes the tax and raises VAT, you go to the market to buy goods that they price has increased drastically. Who is losing? Greek gift. |

ThatWriterBoy: Hello! Please I need advice. My name on my birth certificate and other documents is James Chika Johnson. James is my first name, Chika my second and Johnson my last name.
When I was registering for the JAMB UTME exams, a mistake was made in the order of my name and Chika was my first name and James my middle. I was like 16 then, and I didn't think it would matter.
Now, because JAMB would send the same name format to the schools during admission and all, I've been like that all these years.
I just received my certificate yesterday, and it bears Chika as my first name and James as my last.
My National ID card, Voters card and all other documents, including my SSCE results are James as my first and Chika as my last name.
This has never been a problem for me. In fact, during our Certificate Verification at school, the council did not bring up any issue because my name in the school was Chika James Johnson, but on my SSCE certificate was James Chika Johnson.
On the school notice board, there was a note that the Student would bear all responsibility for any error once they leave the issuing room if they don't point it out there. But this is not technically an error because I've been going through my university education with this name order. All my tests, exams, and registrations in school.
Please will this affect me later? Like during NYSC registration or something? What can I do? name arrangement has never posed any serious challenge. Just ensure you follow the format on your BSc certificate going forward to reduce the disparities you'll have. When you have too many conflicting arrangement then it bcoms an issue. I mean ABC, BCA, CAB etc. If you stick with ABC, BAC, I don't think it will be as daunting as u think. Just follow your BSc going forward, and ensure your ID cards goes with this, you can visit the bank for a rearrangement, this does not even require an affidavit. |

We have never gone to space, we weren't around when the events in the bible and Quran happened, but somehow we still believe every detail.
What I am trying to say is that, we don't have to personally experience something to know it's a fact. And when an idea is being circulated by every other tribe in Nigeria, and same fact is being corroborated by some folks from the same tribe, I do not need to experience it personally to believe it.
It is just like relocating to Libya or South Africa, turning deaf ears to reports from those country about what folks go through.
But hey, we can agree to disagree. Chikenna!
Have a blessed day bro smile, I'm not ready to engage in a further rejoinder either. It brings no value to me. Conclusively, president Tinubu is a Yoruba man, let him do the needful. Restructure the country to adapt with the principles and philosophy of true fedeeralism. Tinubu is a Yoruba man, he should restructure the constitution to reflect this, so that every Nigerian will first represent and identify with their tribe before Nigeria. So far the constitution remains and affirm that every Nigerian has a right to acquire movable nd immovable properties in any part of Nigeria, then your fight remains a wasted effort. Not so for the top universities, especially a university like the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The Chancellor of UNILAG is always a very popular accomplished Nigerian. The current Chancellor of UNILAG, Chief Wole Olanipekun,SAN is more popular in the national public sphere than the VC, Prof Folashade Ogunsola. Chancellor is a political appointment, which means anyone can be the Chancellor of a University. The day-2-day running of the University is done by the VC, hence the reason why the VC is more pronounced. |
