@ Madeonline,

Uploading files in narialand was restricted so guys ran away: I believe it has being rectified.

I would not want to duplicate the tread but will ask Easimoni to kindly amend the tread title.

I posted some pdfs a long time ago: it includes the technical manual of metastock. Just go through the Indicators section: it explains the calculation and interpretation. You might want to summarize it in excel or word and put in a poster for easy quick check.

Metastock is quite more advance than Aptistock and you have a better range of indicators. You can also get to write your trigger fomulas.

Just hala me if you come across any problem.

Hi All!

I am quite new to this forum and I must say its very fantastic!

I just have a few questions about UBA (as I will be going with them for now):

* If I open current, savings and broking accounts, I want to initially fund the current account by way of relative paying naira into the account. Personally I think, UBARemit, no matter how convenient is a rip-off if you are transferring very large sums of foreign. Will they allow opening the account if I will fully fund it this method (relative paying in naira)- or remit part account funding by this method. , answer is YES, that is how I have funded my account so far with them UBARemit rates are poor.

* When using NRN services, can I speed-post non-UBA cheque to the relationship officer from UK to forward to the brokers. I wont be suprised if they say you can't, in that case will it be possible to send the non-UBA cheque directly to UBA stock brokers? Why must they force people to use their current accounts and is there anyway around this, If you check previous postings there is a way round funding your brokerage account without using the current account, just check
* Stock broking profits can be paid into non-UBA account while using NRN services I am supposing?, again Yes, ask them to pay it into your savings account and them you can move it out anyhow,
Request for UBA Stockbrokers Client Account Number: I pay directly to them but just inform my relationship manager to confirm it. I would say that the service is improving. The key is placing your orders before the stock goes on full bid: not too easy to judge. You might buy 1-5% more expensive though

Nice one. Could not resist your quote RoughCut.

@ Kashif

Declining volume with price drop could mean:

  1. The downward trend is slowing down if the prices have previously being falling

  2. The downward trend might just be begining if the prices have previously (check 4-6 periods before) being trending up

@Man Jiro,
thanks for your concern so far, i did exactly what
you ask me to do, what i have now is "No EOD DATA Selected".
please what can i do as regards to this?

thanks once again!
Assuming you are using Easimoni's Aptistock data (not the data i pasted for Metastock), see below:

1. In the browse section of the downloader, make sure you actually select the file that contains your data: not just the folder

2. if you are still getting the same error, open the csv saved by Easimoni and save it as: CSV (MS DOS)

If the above does not work, copy and paste or upload the first 10 rows of your source data here

@ sir easimoni

i tender my apology sir.
yes at data format, i see "EODData of metastock fomat".
, please how can i change it, or other remedies.

when i click import i see "Can not open the file C:\Program Files\AptiStock\Data\NNSE"

note also that my NNSE file is in my desktop
thanks to all
The "EODData of metastock fomat" is okay.

Click on browse and locate your source file.

Select the market destination to the one you have named for Nigerian Stock Exchange: I think Easimoni uses NNSE

Check that your market symbol tallies with what you have defined e.g NNSE.

Uncheck the thick mark for suffix

Confirm that the destination folder is the one you have defined for your NNSE

Click on import

I am assuming that you have already imported the market symbol file

RomanceRe: Why Do Guys Lose Interest In Relationships After The Chase? by ManJiro(m): 9:46pm On Mar 07, 2008
For the Babes on this forum

The most pathetic person is the one that believes he/she is the most outstanding person and fails to see his/her own flaws and work towards correcting them. If you play "too" hard to get two options are possible after you agree:

         1. The guy might see your true self and be contented with it
         2. The guy might see your true self and not be happy with it: you gave him an unsually high expectation about your values only for him to discover that you dont really have them.

Relationship is a two way thing: it takes two. Our Nigerian culture has sort of given some babes a wrong impression.

It should be about you trying to be the perfect wife and also the guy trying to be the perfect husband. If one person is lacking, a strain will exist. It is really possible for one person to bear the strain for a long time. If you, causing the strain is not "too lucky" a time will come when the other person will start drifting away. If he/she meets another person at that time: yawa go gas

The LCM is everything (from a matured perspective) you know will make you happy, do the same to your partner, also go out your way to please your partner: irrespective of if you are a guy or babe.   If you dey "front" for your guy/babe, how long you wan do am?

The quickest way forward would be to get Easimoni's 2007 sheet: check his first post or the megaupload link he posted. Not sure if i did. The stock symbol formats should be the same for 2007 and 2008.

Do a search for Kosieboy on Narialand: he uploaded the Metastock stuff. Just make sure you have Avast Anti-virus before you open the zip folder.

Hope this helps.

thank you easimoni you are a blessing to this generation. please how can i upload this new data to my aptistock software. would't it overwrite the 2007 datas previously uploaded?
No. It will only add more days to the onces you already have if the stock symbols are the same and the dates are different.

The sheets updated for 2008 has data of each addtional day added to it: the previous data still remains. So that any time you update your aptistock with Easimoni's sheet, it is actually wiping your former data out: but the former data is being replaced with the same data, so no wahala.

It has a function where you can tell it not to replace former data, but it is applicable for the realtime/online update.

@manJiro - do you have a clean Sw of metastock, i no dey use that one - because na work laptop i dey use, and i know wan carry virus :-)
The one Kosieboy uploaded into Megaupload is good: the only place you get the malware is when you first open the ziped folder. Avast Anti-vurus (free) detects it: tell avait to do nothing - ie do not allow the malware run. Once you have successfully uploaded the software, the malware will no longer be present. If you dont want to do this in your company laptop, you can extract the zip folder somewhere else.

The controversy trailing the revocation of the sale of Nigerian Telecommunication Limited (NITEL) and its mobile subsidiary, Mobile Telecommunication Limited (M-Tel) to Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) was on Friday, laid to rest with the federal government and the management of Transcorp agreeing to bring in a new core investor.

“To reconfirm the earlier mutual agreement between government and Transcorp for both to relinquish shares sufficient to give comfort and controlling interest to the new operator/investor consistent with the December 2007 agreement.”

The two parties said the decisions taken are in the best interest of the industry, stakeholders and the Nigerian people.

However, Transcorp’s Vice President, Communications, Adedayo Ojo, explained that no agreement was reached on the percentage of shares to be relinquished to the new core investor.

He said another meeting would soon be held during which both parties would agree on what percentage that will go to the new core investor.

Following last weekend's mis-communication by the Minister of Information and Communication, four reputable telecom firms, Telkom and Vodacom, both of South Africa, Orascom of Egypt and France Telecom were reported to have already indicated interest in taking over the troubled national carrier. - Thisday

@Londoncool
A nominee account puts the broker entirely in charge of your affairs. It is like a trustee account with the trustee (broker) having full powers to sign on your behalf. You have to trust the broker although with an individual CSCS acct you also need to trsut the broker as he can sell without authority although you may report him and get some redress.

A nominee account can also help you make strategic moves without showing your hands. Imagine, for whatever reason, that Otedola starts buying Oando shares. This may be quickly noticed if he is using his regular CSCS account. But a CSCS account in the name of the nominee "Londbroker Nominee/FO" will not cause significant anxiety at  Oando. Londonbroker being the name of the broker and FO being Femi Otedola.

A nominee account is also useful if you are not around to sign mandates and similar documents. It also provides an additional name to buy IPO (really?) with. So Londoncool, if that is your real name, can be used on 1 form and Londonbroker/LC can be used on another form. The broker will sign this second form.

Core Trust. I cannot speak for their trade execution but they are a respectable (integrity-wise) house. I don't have information about Fidelity securities
Hmm. Good info.

Cheers mate

@Nairalanders

Have had further confirmation from my brokers today that all 350 million Transcorp shares traded today were in cross deals. Not only that but all by one house although they did not say which house.

I suggested on another platform about two years ago that perhaps Ndidi should resign in the interest of the company but I am now sometimes in two minds because of the ruthless and prejudiced ways some handle matters that concern Transcorp.

When I bought into the Transcorp ideal it was open to everybody. Some thought it unwise but did not expect people to want to bring it down because they are not there.

OK. Some in control of the company have taken advantage of their positions but if you knew what goes on with numerous other public offers you will see that they are not at all unusual.

The special aspect of Transcorp is that it was sold as a national project. A 100% Nigerian company with the wherewithal to take on the multinationals.

Those who were cynical about the project should not attempt to effect their negative prophecies.

The idea of such a company with the majority of shares owned by the average Nigerian stockholder is a worthwhile goal.

Ndidi will not forever be the head of Transcorp. She offerred the position to Christopher Kolade who turned it down on finding out some directors opposed the move.

So please let us stick to the most current information about the company and stop recycling old news as the latest.

Samstone4 cool cool

Obalende:
@all

I have a question I would like to ask - I am indeed not impressed with a broker (contact me for name if you want) and I am happy I saw the red flags right from the start.

I submitted all scanned documents and I was told I missigned one of the forms, I scanned again and sent; and they said I should send it AGAIN - meaning that they did not even look at the second one I sent.

After submitting the documents, nearly two weeks elapsed and I did not even hear anything - not even an automated response. I contacted them recently (but why should I have to be the person to contact them againhuh) and the person said "he thought he had sent my new account details to me". This is very unprofessional.

I am of the opinion that when new stock broking account is opened by a Company, they should send a physical and official letter confirming the account has been opened(where this is not possible, a scan of the same). But I just got an email quoting an account number and a CSCS for the 'new account'. May be I am expecting western standard here but this is generally the norm. Upon citing a clause of their agreement for electronic documents and the need to have such should dispute arise- he just said they just send a bare email - with the customers new account number and cscs number.

Now if for instance i wire 10 million naira(for example) into the so called 'new account' - and litigations should arise - I have no proof of the Company officially opening an account for me. Even worse is if the person has been trading for 2 years and then comes bak to naija to discover no account exists.

So people, do Nigerian companies just send a bare email (with no signature, Company stamp, etc) stating an account number and a CSCS number when an account is opened?

I am on the verge of just telling them to just close the account just the way they opened it and close cscs no etc.

The bigger firms are just the best.

Thanks.
@Obalende,

If it is UBA you are talking about, then yes, they just send you the details. You would have online access to see your account. You can ask for check book and Debit Card to be sent to you: That is proof that you have an account with them. Save all the email correspondance with them. You could also call general customer service to confirm that you actually have a account.

If you register for trade alert, you will get to know what is happening in your CSCS account. Your broker is not normally able to take stuff out of your CSCS account without your consent. Your bank surely can not.

Hope this helps
