Just for the records:

Zenith posted wrong results as Oga Pumping rightly said: anybody that wants to take it personal should do so.

Nigerian Sercurities and TRW-Stockbrokers also posted wrong results: No shaking

Even if the service is free, what we want is accurate service. Posting the data on their site is a way of publicity for them too, so its a two way thing. I opened an account with one of them based on the reliability (time of posting and being accurate) in the price list. I see no reason why I can't complain when the service changes.

We complained about UBA-Stockbrokers here and the service has somewhat improved. Nobody attacked the comments.

Constructive criticism is a very good way to instigate positive change.

@emotimi,

If you have a current account with UBA PLC already, you don't have to open another current account. The person that told you to open another current account was just trying to exploit you---he or she wants you to pay more money to UBA PLC.

Do not go through UBA NRN PROGRAM. You can get intouch with UBA STOCKBROKERS direct and tell them that you want to open a brokerage account and that they should send the application form to you via e-mail.

You can get intouch with UBA STOCKBROKERS through this e-mail address: ubastockbrokers@ubagroup.com. You should always stand your ground when dealing with UBA NRN reps.

Hope this help.

Peace.
The form is actually on their website

Does anybody have the one from NSE?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ManJiro(m): 9:38am On Feb 07, 2008
I think that while it is better to have one CHN and different CSCS No (in the case you can just register with CSCS for online once), it is not mandatory. See the comments from Trade Alert FAQ page:

Q: I have several CSCS account numbers and one Clearing House number, how many times do I subscribe?

Ans: Provided you have one Clearing House number, despite your CSC account numbers, you only subscribe once.

Q: I have several CSCS account numbers and several Clearing House numbers, how many times do I subscribe?

Ans: Though it is recognized that some clients have two or more Clearing House numbers for reasons best known to them, It is advisable to consolidate accounts into one Clearing House Number because the number of Clearing House Numbers you have would mean the number of times you need to subscribe.

I think it is good to consolidate your CHN into one so that you can just register for online account viewing once. But if you have outstanding PO or IPO, would changing the CHN delay crediting of your account? Hmm

I think the RSI applies to stock that are well stabilized (traded well over a long period).

Using RSI on stocks that are just begining to experience active trading (and subsequently price increase) after a very long period of being domant will show RSI greater than 70.

Stocks like Juli, Dangote Flour, International Brew and PremPaints falls into this category.

The RSI can also be ignored if there is a valid reason for the stock price increase: speculation of bonus, divident, PO or new investor

I found Avant more successful than Norton and MCafee in detecting and removing some deadly trojans I downloaded with Metastock. Why not reinstall your avant and run the virus scan again? Uninstall the Avant and delete all residual directories before doing this.
I think Avast is very good,  do as pumping recommended: just make sure you set it to automatic update. The avast antivirus I have in my USB was able to detect a virus in my company laptop: Norton was there but it could not spot it.

I also use Lavasoft Ad-aware for malwares and adware removals. The free version is good: it scans and removes malwares and adwares once they are in your system. The pro version has a reatime protection: you have to buy this.

Zonealarm makes your system not detectable by hackers.

I think the three combination is superb.

Just want to take the benefit of those who might have the info regarding the Dangote last IPO - flour.

Someone told me that it was oversubscribed and that returns (up to 90%) were made to him; please how true is this, and when do i expect mine to be returned.

I'll be gald for an update on this issues. Nevertheless, i need to make enquiries from the Bank (GTBank) where i bought the shares.

Thanks.
Check Meristan Securities or Proshare for the allocations. It is really a disappointment but you cant blame them: it was heavily over-subscribed. Nigerian masses are begining to participate heavily in NSE

@babycool, I have been made to understand from various forums that Cashcraft isnt all that. Dont know though!

@Dis Guy and Man Jiro, thanks for the comments.

I already emailed them and I got a reply that I need to fund their account using my reference number & afterwards, the account will be opened. Now isnt it that I should fund my own account and not theirs? I don't have any account number yet but the reference number. diamondreach@diamondbank email address was dead when I wrote but I got through with diamondcare@

I have got to understand that Diamond has a better online facility than UBA and one can d o transfers to another bank e.g GTB or UBA. Is that true? Kindly please tell because I would like to know so that I can transfer funds so that I can purchase stocks
@ Bjluv

If you check the previous mails sent to you, you would see the diamond account details in Citibank you can pay to. Use your unique reference as the beneficiary. Check some pages back, you would see the details Etin posted (for UK)

I am not sure if you can do inter-bank transfer online. But if you need to, you just have to write an instruction to your RM. Should take one day.

Is Oceanic any good for you please Manjiro as in, their online banking and all. Is it in full function? My old man keep telling me that I should use Oceanic and not DiamondBank but I have already opened DiamondReach today and it is now waiting time to know when I will even get the account number and the starter's package!

Did you (DiamondReach account owners) get any email immediately you registered and uploaded the scanned documents?
@Bjluv

They are still working on upgrading the internet facility for online banking, so I have not really used it. I kind of opened it because my Broker has an account there. Being using UBA and Diamond.

After uploading, I got a mail like a day after. The opening process up to the time you get your stuff takes a long time though (1 - 1 1/2 months). UBA and Oceanic are quicker cos your account notification is by mail.

First of all: Why isnt there an account number for Deutschebank(DB)?
2ndly:I can use IBAN only so whats the IBAN for Deustchebank(DB)?
3rdly:Am I supposed to transfer to UBA PLC directly using the provided IBAN, and thereby ignore the DB Details

Below are the SWIFT DETAILS UBANRN sent me yesterday.
Could you confirm that these are the same details you received?

CUSTOMER’S BARNCH

In my case: Savings Account 419419419123

Which Branch Name abeg, ?Marina Lagos NRN Branch

Anxioulsy awaiting response.

@Some who are probably asking "why is this fool still opening with UBA after all that bad press". Well I have my reasons.

Thank you
@ Teenon,

I would advise you to avoid this online transfer to UBA through Deusche Bank for now or use a small amount of money as a test run.

I did a test run on 26th/nov/2007: the money is still yet to be credited to my account. I have being in contact with my RM but no good result yet. UBA Remit is the other option but the exchange rate is too low.

I think the swift transfer can only be done if you call the bank or go there yourself. The money goes into a UBA account (95570910000) in deusche bank.

If the free online transfer is effective, it is going to reduce the patronage of the UBA Remit. Is this why there is difficulty sending money online from your UK account?

If anybody has done this successfully please comment?

Hi guys,

Check out the the technical analysis tool on nigeriansecurities. They have data as far back as 2007 and you don't have to worry about updating daily data for aptistock if you have gotten aptistock to work.

Unfortunately i have not been able to get aptistock to work making this timely.

I can at least now focus on using the indicators instead of trying to make them work
Thanks: will check it out.

I think it would still be wise to use the aptistock/metastock as backup though. You never know when these guy might change their mind about free usage.

Guys, some people have complained about LeadCapital , but they are working for me ooo. i place orders online and follow up with a mail, (the RM never picks his phone) , only when my price is too low, or a stock is on full bid (this one forget about them in this case, no show at all) that i don't get what i asked for. i get purchase confirmation the next day.(though end of the next day) but it is always carried out.

I contacted a guy in the IT section and he says posting online is much more reliable that email to the RMs (infact, i have had conflicts with this though, sent via the 2 mediums and got double what i asked for, )

just what i am experiencing, and it hasnt been too bad, wink

least i forget, most importantly, i always place orders the in the morning, any time before trading starts (9am)
@ Donilors

Whats the account opening minimum? I might give them a try to see how far? Which bank do they have account with?

Has anybody used TRW-Stockbrokers?

I want same day execution and thats hard to get, its more like 2-3 days, and I'd like online access to also just set purchase requests and log on later to see that it was purchased. I'm going to be putting a large chunk of money in the NSE so wouldnt want to risk losing just because it was purchased wed when I made request monday morning. I'll still have what I've with UBA in regards to my smaller portfolio and I love the rest of their NRN services. Its good for those just starting off cause of its N250k minimum, matter of fact I'm starting my little sister with them.

@K2really most of all I've heard of Cashcraft hasnt been great, I figure since I can meet the minimum for some of the bigger ones that provide better overall services, I'll just go wit them. Strongly leaning towards Vetiva now
I am also getting fed up with UBA Stockbrokers too. Imagine, I placed an order on the 13th of Dec. After sending numerous request for update, I was told on the 28th Dec that the mandate could not be carried out because the price i put (max price limit) was higher than the closing price. What? Max price means buy below the Max price stated. Who complains when you tell him to buy something for 7.4 max and you can get it for 6.7? I suspected something fishy happened though.

The NRN service is very good but what is the use and convenience if the Stockbrokers are this bad?

The formular i used to pull in data into NSE.csv from the master excel workbook returned #N/A because the data I was looking for did not exist in the master workbook, I copied the whole stuff result and pasted it into a text editor and manually deleted all lines with #N/A, copied the results back over the original NSE.csv, rows shifted up (as is expected, no problem), hence less rows. This is not a problem at all.

pumping777 has already answred this query, you should only be worried if a consecutive read error from row 1 to the end occurs. A quick inpection of the offending rows of NSE.csv should tell if theres error or not.
Aptistock downloader does not download a line if one of the data in the 8 columns is missing e.g if the data you have for 02/01/2008 is missing open or close price. It will not import correctly. It treats each symbol for a date as an entity. FSDH data frequently does not have low price: Aptistock will not like this. Zenith is consistent in having all the data.

If you have data with input missing, you would have to sort: depending on how you sort, the missing data will be arranged at the top or bottom. You can then delete.

@ Bigjay

I think the NA you got is because when ever you save a file as CSV, all cell formating is lost. You could do the linking between two excel sheets and all you would have to do is copy from the excel and paste into the csv

@ Pumping777
When i was creating my original data, I just did copy and paste: merging cells in different sheets is a little bit tricky, more so when the number of rows is not fixed. You can copy data in 24 sheets into your clip board. Once you click paste all, everything gets pasted
