PoliticsRe: Fashola Not The Best Governor –PDP by Manlado: 11:44am On Sep 10, 2013
sammhi: Before we know who is the best , we need to rate them based on clearly defined parameters..... such as healthcare, food, housing, roads, security, budget performance, Education and social security and citizen development.
No doubt, Fasola wont come first if we use these parameters though I cant say who will... one thing Fasola has going for him is the media power which he uses to the best...most northern governors perform well but are not heard and so it seems they are not doing much but when you visit ... you will see their impact despite their very low revenue.... one thing I give as thumb up for most of the northern governors is that the peoples welfare is of top priority and so consume most of their revenues (healthcare, roads, agriculture ,employment ) and they build institutions instead of cronies and hang on.... which is the hall mark of lagos
Jakande government set the pace in development and what fasola has done pales into insignificance if you compare him to Jakande infact, BRf will be charged for fraud ) and maybe apparently because Awo is a true leader unlike now where a Fraud is the leader and this may have impact on BRF?
lastly, Ibori and Lagos are the same in terms of monumental fraud, but just because Ibori is caught , it seems he is bad ,,,but are all bad....some sins are covered while others are exposed ....
Freedom of speech gives room to hear from fools as well, otherwise we would not have the privilege to assess your brain.

Sorry man, you poor upstairs. No insult intended.

snowytee: So the only excuse u people can muster is "his wife just moved to Lagos",how pathetic?Visit Akwa ibom and u'll come back and curse the ground your governor walks upon.Shey na u help her pack her bags come Lagos.Akpabio has done better than Fashola, period.Whether his wife likes to live in kafanchan, how does that mean he hasn't developed his state?
How much solution brought to the society is what development is all about.
Akwa Ibom's population is what?
Lagos is clustered compared with the open space of Akwa Ibom.
The new bridge in Lekki disappeared into the society, while everything built in Akwa Ibom is obvious.

The parameters for governance is wide and Fashola is an Ace, even all is colleagues bow for that because most of them lived in Lagos at one time or the other.

They know what problems have been tackled.

And in yr tirade above you mentioned ACN; are you aware that without GEJ there wud not be an ACN, abi na APC, to talk about? Do you know that if OBJ was still in Power none of these political parties wud hv ever bn allowed to win any significant elections in this our Nigeria, nor wud any party be registered?? Which is exactly why OBJ was a 'strong' leader, and GEJ is a 'weak' one- Nigeriastyle
huhhuhhuhhuhhuh?

So GEJ is your God naa?

Every leader is elected for a term.
2nd term is a privilege based on results
Not an absolute right.

Besides People of the S-West can send anyone packing at will.

OBJ got the shock treatment from Daniel for his effort .
Because People disagree in a party doesn't mean they should leave the party.

The Party and the Presidency should not be the same.

pelusi: All these ,i save this i save that,i hope people are telling us the truth. For example a family man of one hundred thousand naira monthly,no allowances and works in VI,and spends at least N400 to N500 daily on transport alone, caters for the family, manages to live in badore axxis of lekki, and pays a house rent of N300,000 for just a room and parlour annually. No medical allowance, housing, transport etc,all is just the one hundred thousand naira.Yet he atimes attends to his parents needs. My people lets be sincere, can this man even save anything?.Note annual accomodation is like removing or saving N25000-30,000.Transport is roughly N15,000.Breaking this further 30,000 + 15,000,you notice that this has come down to 55k monthly. Can 55k sort out atleast 90% of the above mentioned expenses considering living in lekki axxis. It is very difficult for this kind person to save.Alternatively, let somebody give me a break down on how such person can save, because i was suprised seeing people here mentioning they save 20%,30%,etc even 80 % of their salary.Thanks.
My first question to aide your inquiry is : if the company decides to reduce salary to 90% would you continue to work or quit?

If the answer is 'no'
Then start saving 10%

Look for ways to cut cost.
Stop making long calls
Don't by expensive outfit.
Use a cheap phone.
Join other colleagues to reduce transport cost.
Rally someone in your office to shop for you where things are cheaper.
Eating healthy can save cost. ( No 'Mr. Biggs)

We can only do this by erasing everything that talks about federal character, anything that suggest one Nigerian is different from any by reason of genealogy.
Eradicate State of origin , local government of origin and all such non-sense.

Even people from the same tribe recognise their differences in politics instead of focusing on competence and commitment.

benchmark Number one:Economic Growth
Let me take you back to 1999:
The avarage monthly IGR of lagos was 650 million naira
the ratio of capital to recurrent expenditure in Lagos state was 33:57 %
The size of the first budget tinubu presented to the Lagos state house of assembly was 1 billion naira.
fast forward
by 2009, the balance has been shifted decisively with 61% going to capital expenditure and 39% to recurrent expenditure.
As at 2012, capital expenditure .
In 2012, the size of the budget has grown to 492 billion and the recorded budget performance was 89%

anonimi: Let me give you some quick pointers:

1. Awolowo relied only on the revenue from cash crops, mainly cocoa as there was no Niger Delta oil revenue to share at the time.
2. Awolowo governed the old Western region, which included most of Lagos STATE and the defunct Mid-Western region that is now divided into Edo & Delta states.
3. In 1979 - 1983 when Jakande and the other four UPN governors did the GLORIOUS things they did for EVERYONE in their states, oil was about $32 unlike today when it is about $100. That already neutralises question of exchange rate dollar/naira that you raised.

If you still want to argue further provide the budget figures for the old Western region from 1954 and Lagos state from 1979 along with the census population for the period so you have the PER capita budget.
Deal huh
Don't tell me what I already know.

When you did compared the two governments of old which we all respected because they were pioneers, the was no basis for comparison.

I want you to tell me vis a vis the revenue generated and projects executed.

Consider:
Population.
Naira/Dollar strength
Cost of governance.
Compare the revenue and tell me what ratio goes into
Separate projects.

A new 504 goes for around 6000 at that time.
Now a new 607 goes for more than 8, 000, 000

What you should be doing is to state your points in relation to what can be achieved and what is achieved?

2011 - 2013 Fashola

With even more money PER person than his GLORIOUS predecessors- Awolowo, Jakande and the only Lagosian military governor of Lagos, General Mobolaji Johnson (retd).
Why huh

If this is an attempt to patronise and/or bribe me, no need trying.
Just tell Fashola that he has less than two years to RIGHT the mediocrity that he has passed on as excellence for more than six years so far. Particularly on free and COMPULSORY education for ALL Lagos children whose parents cough up the 60% IGR in his budget.
Understandably, he may not be able to do much in that period on potable water provision as well as feeder roads since he and his oga on the top have watsed 14 solid years doing very little in these sectors

Some groups needs relevance so the come out and say anything.
Ask most of the idiots criticizing, how much it takes to construct a KM of road.
They can't tell you.
One thousand naira sounds like plenty money to a beggar on the street.
N 1,000,000, 000 is $ 6, 250, 000 dollars
Most of what is needed for development are imported.
Meaning more naira.
A $35000 Toyota Car is about N 6, 000, 000.

That is why some fool think #20, 000,000, 000 is so much for a state like Lagos.

Debo, go get a serious job and contribute in taxes because Lagos need more revenue to develop place they are yet to touch.

Fashola created a standard no reasonable man alive can fault.

Intellectual endeavors are mentally engaging and can drain physically very often.

Local government of origin
