TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by mannimakerjnr: 11:47am On Jan 04, 2021
Hello house,

I have a very important question. A quick response will be very much appreciated.

NOC X (Primary Occupation) - 2 years 2 months
NOC Y (Secondary Occupation) - i. 9 months contract work
ii. [7 months break in between]
iii. 6months permanent work ongoing now

I know the primary occupation must be at least a year continuous work to be eligible of which I am from NOC X.

My question is, will that 7 month gap in between NOC Y (Secondary Occupation) disqualify me from getting 3 years as I’ve done 15months (9+6) as it stands now?

Thank you.

[quote author=bligs post=79119829]With 70points for any engineering profession you will still wait like forever for 189, try 190 or 489. 80points was the minimum for any engineering profession (189) ITA in May.

What if the system resets from July? Any chance of non pro-rata getting an ITA with 70 points?

Good day guys,

I have two questions please;

1. Can I use the same CDR I used for my recent assessment again? I was assessed as an Engineering Technologist without my Master Degree but the CO told me I could apply again with my masters to be assessed as a professional engr. I would just like to submit the same CDR again.

2. I have both a Bsc and Master (studied in Australia) in Petroleum Eng..looking at the current trend and now that Petroleum eng is back on the list, do I go for chemical or petroleum engineering? With 70 points now, which will be more favourable for quicker ITA?

Thanks in advance.

Techengine:
My friend Bnimz has always wanted me to leave Nigeria/Africa since he was in the UK but I didn’t take him seriously until sometimes in August 2018 when he told me that he’s now a permanent residence in Aussie. My brain opened immediately. He gave me options of studies, Canada and Australia and because I was desperate to leave, I started working on all the options.
My first Ielts (LRSW 8,8,7.5,6.5) was in September 2017. I did Academis because I thought I could use it for the three options but the result could only work for school. I got engaged the same month and dropped the idea of school because I was not ready to leave my babe behind.
I worked on my CDR and paid for Engineer Australia Assessment (Fast Track) with materials and guidance from Bnimz and my babe as proofreader in November 2017. I did my best on the CDR and was expecting a direct positive assessment. Also with counsel from Bnimz, I paid for PTE and was preparing. I got late to the exam hall for my first PTE and was not allowed to take the test. 52k wasted. I almost wet my trouser with wee wee. I gathered another 52k and paid for another PTE the following week. The result was terrible. The same week I got the result, I was contacted by my CO from EA and he requested for two additional CDRs. I literarily gave up at that time. Nothing seems to be working.
I gathered courage again in January and decided to prepare for IELTS because it appeared simpler to me. I wrote 2 more CDRs and submitted (not expecting anything good). I got positive assessment from EA on lovers day 14th February 2018. It rekindled my hope again in Australia but I was more focused on Canada.
My second IELTS was in April 2018 (this one pain me enhh). I had LRSW 8.5, 8.5, 8, 6.5. I almost ran mad. I was never good at English, especially writing but I thought I prepared well. I was sure my marked would increase so I sharply requested for remark (na IDP so it cost 45k). Painfully dem chop my 45k laidat. I cried liked David of the bible and encouraged myself in the Lord. I registered for another IELTS immediately and got May 12.
I need a new paragraph for this story… I didn’t mention all along that I’m working in Ghana and have to travel to Nigeria by road (as I no get money for flight nko) to take all of those exams. IDP did not fix date for my speaking until less that 24 hours before the test and I was in Ghana. I had to beg my boss and colleague to cover for me and travel that very night (night bus). I got to Ikeja around 11am or so and was given just 10 minutes to rest before going in for my test. I sha did the speaking test with a very tired voice and forced smile. Shebi it remain LRW laidat. It was May 12 and it was a bad day devil drink water (Yoruba people will understand). I got to the exam hall as early as 7am and the exam didn’t start till about 10:30am. Meanwhile I spent most of the time standing on queue. I was already tired when I entered the exam hall. We couldn’t start with listening because their speaker no dey work properly. They sha forced us to start with reading after which we did writing because the speaker was not ready. About 12pm when we wanted to do listening finally, rain started falling so we had to wait for rain to stop. No food lataaro, everyone was tired and agitated. In fact a pregnant woman passed out while we were waiting and was rushed to the hospital. We sha later did the rubbish listening like that and I was sure I wont get up to 8 because the speaker still didn’t work properly. I cried at Ojota bus stop that night because I thought I’ve wasted another 68k. But the miracle working God I served stepped in and helped me. I had LRSW 7.5, 9, 8.5, 7. Ni 10 point ba pe.
I didn’t know much about 489 so I begged for help on nairaland and god sent an angel, IFUNNAYA. She introduced me to this wonderful group. Spongbob was beyond helpful. He gave me all the things I needed to apply and encouraged me all the way. I applied on 11th of June. I quickly organized a small registry wedding with my babe on 5th of July and was nominated on 23rd of July. Lodged visa on 15th august and medicals 20th August. With prayers and a lot of prayers, We got direct grant yesterday 7th August 2018 and IED is 20th August 2019.
I hope my story will help/inspire someone. PLEASE DON’T GIVE UP. If I could do it, YOU, yes you too can do it

Write your CDR as a chemical engineer. I believe you should be able to. There is similarity between petroleum and chemical.

If you write a convincing chemical engineering CDR, you should get a professional engineer.

It means that the career episodes weren't well written or there is something wrong with them. Did you ask someone to prove read for you? I'm not a Civil Engineer but could you please push a CE you wrote to me. So I can see what what you did? Thanks btw.

Also remember that the Episodes must be improved sufficiently or else you will assessed as an ET. Engineering Tech is ranked lower than Professional Engineer.

Better get a Pro Eng.

To Do List:

1. Write new episodes
2. Get a guru (Oga Bellong or a Civil Eng. already assessed)
3. Send it again

Also, If that 1monthh time-frame elapses, then you must pay again I guess. smiley

Wish you well!

Princelye:
Dear Senior Civil Engineers,

I Know you will be very busy at this time but I urgently need your help. My assessment with EA just came back with a request for additional information on my 3 career episodes. The assessor stated thus

" Submitted episodes do not demonstrate your competency at a professional engineering level. If you want to be considered for the professional engineer outcome you need to submit updated/new career episodes. Please, note that if the new episodes are not sufficiently improved, you may not be assessed as professional engineer.

Alternatively, the assessment may be finalized with Engineering Technologist ANZSCO 233914 outcome. In this case no new or updated career episodes are required.

Please, state your preference."

Kindly advise as i was only given 1 month to respond.

Kind regards.

The word competent is a big one. I had tried using em sometime... Lo and behold they will ask you to provide report of some project(s) you have executed before as a team member or leader... Which means , you are still gonna provide everything they need . In addition, regarding not being able to write cdr by one self...., This is my one cent and some statement that keeps me going when I claim/think I don't have time....
"Create time for everything , and you have time for everything"
"It is what you don't wanna do, that you have an excuse for"

You may wanna apply these to the situation at hand/ to whom it may concern.

See the cdr as a project then , initiate, plan, execute and control/check.
Best regards my friend,

Everybody will smile .

Thanks so much for the motivation ... grin

Thanks man for the insight. Yes, chemical engineering is better. Just try to streamline your duties to that of the ANZcode for Chemical engineering and you will be fine. Even for the career episodes, just as Bellong stated, you can use those elements that relates to chemical engineering to write it. They are in a way connected in some areas. If done well, it will be successful definitely.

Currently, there is no sponsorship for Petroleum Engineering by states. Therefore, your best bet from the options you gave will be ET but if your undergraduate is in Chemical, Mechanical, you will have lower points to meet.
Please, for the master in petrol engineering in Perth, is getting a job while studying easy especially in Perth and how is the pay and was the job related to your study?
I'm still in school though, haven't started any job yet (only part-time jobs). What I've observed is that most companies require PR or Citizenship for job positions and even for internships. In perth, there is only company that gives PE intl students the chance to do internships i.e Woodside, but trust me you don't want me to give u details. Imagine citizens, PR holders and international students vying for a very limited number of slots. As an international student, you just can pray but I know one guy who got it but he's a citizen. He's paid over 4000AUD per month for internship and that is good money. Perth atm is very tight and finding even a part time job is hard. Better to get a PR first bro or @Bellong and the gurus could give u better advice or something. Hope it helps? smiley

My undergrad is Petroleum Engineering and I will like to go for either Production Engineer or Chemical Engineer with lower points to meet. What do you think?
TravelRe: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by mannimakerjnr: 2:31am On Dec 05, 2017

@Mannimaker,

Your only option is Engineering technologist.

@Mcstan18,

If your English test is very recent and appeal date has not passed, I think you should appeal your writing and speaking scores.

External auditor is assessed by three accounting bodies and I believe they have some course contents they require you to have in your education before being granted positive assessment. I don't know if they do experience in lieu of qualification.

What you can do is to go the website of these bodies to check their requirements.
Alternatively, you can align your experience to that of a mathematician.
Thank you Sir Belong,

Since the minimum points Engineering Technologist is 70 now and looking at how competitive it is now. I will like to opt for either Production Engineer or Chemical Engineer as @charlie111 has done.

what do you please think @SirBelong. thanks

The President Bellong, senators, ministers and members of Parliament of this august forum, I salute you all. First of all let me acknowledge the good and rare work done by you all. May you be rewarded greatly by the LORD.

I'm in my second year studying MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Curtin Uni in Perth. I want to apply for my PR asap and the table below shows my add up points in summary for both 189 and 190.

Please, I will like to know which profession to go for so I can start preparing my CDR. Also, which route will get me called faster as per the current analytical trend for call ups.

Age - 30 points
Qualification - 15 points
PTE - Targeting 20 points

Thanks so much in advance for your responses. smiley

Why do you want to assess an ET if I may ask?
1. It depends. You can use your engineering education only and/or work experience to prepare the report for assessment. Do you want to claim experience?
2. Apply to all, and if any calls you, you cancel the others.
