Hi @iwuoahsamuels, the problem with this approach is that Canada visitors visa duration is at the discretion of the visa officer. One may give you just enough time (eg 6 months) to travel for tourist/visit purpose stated. While another may decide to give say untill the expiry of your passport. There is no "one size fits all" approach on this. As to applying from UK, i reckon you are ony visiting hence you dont have staus there. You will have apply from Nigeria or any location you have status (residence). Lastly having these other country visas you mentioned on your passport will help your application from a travel hisory perspective. Hope this answers your question.

iwuoahsamuels:
Finnalllyyy...I get to give my post as I have been reading and taking notes from page 1. This is because I didnt want to ask questios that has already been addressed.
Thank you to everyone that have TAKEN PRECIOUS TIME to keep the thread going.
I observed that it may be safer to apply for tourist or visit visa while Not pregnant and then get pregnant and arm up with "water tight" documentation and funds and declare intent at POE. Pls correct if this is incorrect, also if I ask a question that has been answered, it must be that I must have missed it. So I had my baby 2018 in USA with B2 declared and shared transcript etc on USA platform. My baby and I have been to S.A and got U.K visa for1 week in November to visit siblings. My husband is a frequent traveler with all valid visas. I'm looking at applying from UK for canada visa not that I am not yet pregnant. Will it increase my chances or speed up duration of the process? Can I start it there and complete in lagos or can it be completed while I am there. Pls gurus, your take on this.

Well said @Hotstepper. I used to be active in the main "Canadian Student Visa Thread" before i got really busy. That thread is relatively successful because people come back to share their experiences. Thats the only way this one can stay active/vibrant "
Hotstepper:
I am actually very upset to say the least and I will address ur issues in bullet points so it is clear just like i did months back when something like this happened. And after addressing this issue, I will never address it again even if it comes up 100 times after today.

1. US thread is moving as u want to believe cuz people who have gone comes back to give feedback, how many people do it here?

2. I have never presented myself as a Canada expert, people just believe that cuz I am in Canada and havr direct link to everything which I do not . If you have read this thread,I have put up information that I know etc and it is left for people to read the the thread. I am not here to babysit anyone cuz if information is important to u, it is either u or ur husband will take time to read nd also use google.

3. I am glad u said 3 ppl u know contacted me and never posted here? why didnt they post here? nd if they didnt post here, how did I get to offer them my service if they didnt write me? with the amount of emails I get, I can easily not reply but i do and as I always say to them, all info is on NL and googlr but if I am going to take out my time to do the job then it is not free.

4. As I said before wen someone lashed on me that she is a busy women so cant read nd all and I told her so me ehh I am.not busy. Let me say it again, I am a.wife and mother with a full time job with no.house help unlike most people. I have done my best to be active on this thread to provide information. The other part lies on you people who have come nd given birth to now give feedback.

5. I know how many people I have encouraged to give back to the thread but they refused saying they were not helpef during their own process so let everyone fend for themselves.

6. When you talk about my services, I do not advertise anywhere.or any social media cuz i do not even see it as a job . However, as Nigerians are lazy to.do the work they r seriously in need of, I will.not be taking out time to do thay job for free, I am.sorry. There r information online which is free and everyone has access to it. If they are to use agents in Nigeria, is it going to be free plus these agents r on here on NL taking info.

7. The drs I have provided here for nd the hospita.associated with them aint taking again, why? nobody knows ans nobody wants to find out yet they will reach out thinking I have drs handy I know. Let me say it here, I do.not know any drs and and if u contact me about dr, it is the same google.of which.i spend all my lunch time calling drs. So after spending this time calling drs nd say 1 is successful, shey I will give it for free. Everyone google and call.period. drs/hospitals r hard now cuz people come and not pay cuz they do not have the fund etc .

People run wen i say it is not free cuz those info they can find it themselves..Let everyone know now.since all fingers r posting at me that if u find urself in canada either witjout anybodys help or with an agent nd get stuck, plz always remember to figure it out urself using google or back to the agent u paid. Maybe then, Hotstpper's name will leave people's mouth.

Even people who have family and frienda here say those people.do.not wqnt to help or they have triee and nothing. So of these people have tried and nothing, what makea them think it is easy for me. It is the same google nd keep calling drs. I donnot put gun for anybody neck. I always say ask ur people, read NL and.google but If i am to do thay suffering then it aint free cuz it is not me that thr informstion is important to. I should not be doing all thr work for people and then they relax, where does that happen?

Hava great week.

Did you get refused too? You can actually reapply anytime so long as you addressed the reason for the initial refusal.
Okolinneoma:
Hello ma, I just read up where you said you got denied the first time and got on your second attempt... please How long did you wait before you reapplied? What did you do differently in your second application? Thank you very much.

Congrats bro...could redact your revised LOE and post here for the benefits of people in similar situation?. The LOE is a very powerful tool to address refusal or even head-on in an initial application. You will be doing this group a great service if you are able to redact your copy and post people to take cue and develop theirs. Congrats once more....
Wheyme:

The letters of the CIC policy is subject to the VO interpretation. How do you also explain a 3 year PGWP when one only did 1 year masters. People i know have had this too. This clearly negates the CIC policy yet a VO issued a 3 year PGWP. CIC will not issue policy for different scenarios or cases. Every case is considered in its own merit guided by the policy. Like I said, the person is already working and extended his permit to the 3 year cap. The policy does not describe this scenario. I am not here to convince anyone, I only stated what I know and it's cases specific

thesoj:
So you are telling us that someone who did a one-year MSc can extend their PGWP beyond one year once it is about to expire? This is not accurate. Share the link from CIC's website. CIC policies are all public, so this hearsay is not sufficient.

it's plausible to get an extension if the initial PWGP issued was short because of the applicant's passport expiration date meant the applicant got a shorter PGWP than s/he was eligible for. But this is technically not an extension.

Anything outside that is completely opposite of CIC rules & regulations that are published everywhere. Drop a link from CIC's website and you'll convince us instantly.

thesoj...yes you can only apply for a PGWP once. However it is also an open work permit so can be extended once you are working already. And yes I have a friend who already extended theirs...so I wrote from experience

thesoj:

This is not accurate.

You are eligible for a PGWP only once, and the length of PGWP is determined by your length of study. If you do a one-year MSc, then you get a one-year PGWP after which you can't reapply for PGWP again (including under the guise of extension).

Note to readers: don't only rely on this thread to feed you critical information. Go on CIC's website to confirm information such as this before you base your study decisions on others' advice about CIC policies.

Hi Cupsy
If you are already employed within the original 1year PGWP, then you can extend it to the 3yrs cap before it expires. You can't just convert your work permit to PR. The PR process is administered through the express entry depending on the route you choose to pursue your PR.

cuspy:
Hello guys. I need your input on this.

After completing a 1 year Master's program, is it possible to keep extending the 1 year post graduate work permit that follows to like 3 years?

Is there some other means to legally convert a 1 year post graduate work permit to, say a 3years permit or even a PR?

Hi Chars1289 & NigerianNewbie, see my response on this
1. Its actually PTA (personal travel allowance) you need and not BTA (business travel allowance)...this one is for corporate account holders.
2. BTA can give up to $5000, PTA will give maximum of $4000
3. As for bidding, I find it hard to believe as I just requested for one at fidelity bank HQ and got $4000 in a matter of 90mins...ticket confirmation made it take that long. Conversion was at N199.45 and No extra charges
4. At the moment, most banks are not selling, only Fidelity and Diamond banks are to the best of my knowledge. Diamond insisted my acct needs to run @least 6months b4 they can sell to me. I had Fidelity acct previously so I dont know if they will apply same rule.
Finally like Chars mentioned, you only need your ticket (paid/confirmed)n valid visa on passport and the naira equivalent in your account

NigerianNewbie:

I'll look into the BTA. Thanks a lot.

You welcome
A bit of info for the purchase of BTA. You might not get it immediately you request for it. The bank will have to bid on your behalf which might take 3-7days.In addition, some banks might give you a ^Not available^ answer bt inform them that you are not getting it right away but you want to request for a bid tender through them to CBN. You will only need your flight ticket, visa page and Int passport to present in the bank.

Doubt there is a direct flight to Newfoundland (not absolutely sure though). Your best bet would be to get a flight to Toronto (Royal Maroc:extremely cheap; av my reservations about this though, Ethiopian, Egypt Air, Turkish Airline amongst others are quite affordable to toronto), after which u would join a connecting local flight (look up West Jet or Air Canada) to St. John's.
Hope to see u in St. John's!

Your case is very simple. Your profile suggests u have a great chance. I agree with the VO on d insufficient fund. Pension fund is normally not available for you...N3m is just enough/tight (owing to naira decline) for your 1yr prog (incl. living expenses, accommodation and feeding)...I'm certain d VO is wondering what share of your hubby's N3.1m is available for you, and how he will support himself and d kids...again we do not know what your hubby earns monthly. Kindly beef his account or yours and let him state how much is available for you. I'm going for the same program as well

rukytol:
Hello house, kindly help with my Canada study permit. I got a denial in April n I was suppose to go for PGd in Safety n Risk Engineering in Newfoundland. I am a graduate of Chemical Engineering, 2005set. I have been working as a Safety personnel. Reason for denial is insufficient fund. But by my calculation it ought to be sufficient. I want to reapply next year as I have deferred my admission and do not want a denial. My tuition fee is about $3780. I had 3M in my account as at d time of my application, a support of 3.2M in my hubby's account and about 3.1M in my pension. I got all the required documents submitted- letter from employer, payslips e.t.c I have 2kids, one of which is an American citizen. I indicated that none is them and my hubby is accompanying me.

ahyotomiwa, please respond specially has you were the one that posted the reasons for denial.

Thank you all.
