The long awaited ground invasion reminds me of what the federal troops did in the invasion of these 4 particular towns in Biafra, Owerri,Aba,Umuahia code named Operation OAU by Brigadier Benjamin Adekunle of the defunct 3 rd marine commando and Onitsha started by troops of 2nd division but eventually finished by the 1st division's army.

The aerial bombardment of Umuahia was documented involving, Queen Elizabeth hospital, churches, markets, schools almost every spot in Umuahia was affected. The Caritas lost many of their workers by Egyptian/Russians pilots using Mig fighter jets. Gowon belatedly apologized but it was a great human disaster, first of it kind in Africa.
The case of Aba was that bad that people were crying and wailing, Aba general hospital and most the churches bombed by day time air raid, most of the streets were reduced to the ground.
