If you can take a loan for his education that can cover three years of his undergrad in Canada , this would be the best option so far. Second option- if you have any property of high value that you can let go and would really help him out, then do it. Last option- not the friendly one.. steer away from Canada at least for his undergrad, then make plans for his future. Doesn’t have to be study route eventually. Martinomi: Well, my mum was in this situation 6 years ago. Not enough funds to sponsor me to come to Canada for undergrad (u-Manitoba). I swore that I was going to hustle and support myself If she let me come here but I just turned 16 too almost the same age as your boy. Considering the finances and the fact that she didn’t want wahala. She sent me to Ukraine to study computer science(what I wanted but not where I wanted). She sponsored me through out my studies without any problems, I had a comfortable life but wasn’t where I wanted.
This story long small but my own 2cents. ✌️ |

Muslimity: If my current financial status (#3.6m annual income) is too small to fund my son's 4yr undergraduate degree in Canada costing #5.4m per annum, is there no other legit solutions to this challenge other than killing the idea and instead opting for a Nigeria university for him? I am sure I am not the first person in this kind of situation, so please share your experience how others in similar fix have been able to win this battle. Well, my mum was in this situation 6 years ago. Fast forward to 2018. Finished undergrad went to Nigeria for nysc. While in nysc camp, we started applications for masters in Canada. Did all the necessary things and I applied for visa. Got it and left after nysc 2019. Came to Canada, things weren’t going as planned cos my family was going through a lot. I’ve been hustling here in Canada since I came. It hasn’t been easy but I’m still pushing. I’m 22 now and trust me it’s not easy schooling and supporting yourself. I don’t know the kinda drive your boy has but life doesn’t always go as you want it to. I am here finally. It took 6 years to finally get here and I’m glad she didn’t take the risk of throwing me here 6 years ago. Not the end goal but we’re still getting there. Remember you might not be where you want to be but make sure you’re always one step closer. This story long small but my own 2cents. ✌️ |

From my knowledge, you can work full time on campus during school hours. But not more than 20hrs off campus. milkytins: Is it possible to have a Research Assistant offer that stated 16hrs per week and still get Teaching Assistant of 20hrs per week? Someone said Research Assistant is towards personal research as a student and it won't count as part of eligible 20hrs per week and there are people that have Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant together. Please I need an experienced clarification. Thanks. |

If it is within the same school, depends on the school also. Most likely one semester. But if it a different school, you need to apply for admission, switch schools and change dli also NwanyiOkpa: Thanks so much. What is the requirement? How many semesters must one complete to switch? |

I dont think it is a problem. If it helps, my sponsor's statement wasnt up to a page. Whitepear: Hello,
I have a little concern.
My sponsor has about 9M in his account and we have paid tuition.
My concern is that i am using his savings account and his 4Months statement of account is just 1 page since he doesn't use it much.
Now, should i be worried because it's just 1 page? |

Olayibo1: website design and development Check 1. Conestoga college - website design and development. I think it's a 2 year program 2. Humber college - web development which is 3 semesters. Work placement at the last semester You can check cambrian college for their mobile app dev program. It has a bit of web dev. You get an unpaid internship afterwards. Goodluck ✌ |

I've never heard about that. But personally, I brought mine along with no problems and I'm using it here. You have no problem. realsamsonite1: Hello. Please can I post my Nigerian drivers license to Canada via mail? I was told the immigration authorities might confiscate it, as it is considered a sensitive document. I would be waiting to hear from personal experiences. Thanks. |

I think you should wait a bit but it doesn't hurt to send them a mail asking about the status of admission. They'll definitely reply. sisikemi23: Hello everyone I applied to a school called Université Laval Quebec on the 10th of December last year for fall 2020. I’ve been expecting an admission response from them since that time but nothing yet. You dont need to spiral bind all documents together cos they will still rearrange your document for you at vfs global. Regarding payment, cash only. Hope this helps. Oganammuo: Hello everyone 1. Applying via paper route, is it OK to perforate and spiral bind all documents together?
2. When submitting through paper route, how do one make payment for visa?
Pls I anxiously await your reply. Thanks |

[ quote author=Linzo post=84366184] That's the point I'm making, POF is beyond showing millions of naira in the SNigeriare are points which the Visa officers consider in making decision of inadequate or insufficient fund, mostly adequacy of fund. Last year a graduate of UNN in these forum got an approval with just N150k or less SOA..
[/quote]Approval with less than 150k..... ?? Was the person on scholarship? |

MissMichelleA: Well my refusal just came in today. Reasons: Family ties in Canada and at home, 'limited employment opportunities in my country of residence' (WTF does that even mean? I read information technology BTW and there are a ton of IT start-ups popping up everywhere.) and current employment situation (I finished NYSC and started applying to schools immediately, didn't get a job interim because my parents thought it would be too stressful juggling school applications because I'm SS). Sorry about that. Can you share your profile? |

Hello House, I had to join Nairaland cuz my Student Permit application was refused just this Friday and the Concordia University is supposed to resume January 6.It only took 3weeks fir them to review my application.
I submitted all the documents I know that could boost my chances.
I was offered admission for Graduate Diploma in Business Administartion. Among the list of documents you said you submitted, I didnt see a CAQ letter. I want to believe it slipped your mind and if you didnt include it. Pls know, Concordia uni is in quebec and international students need CAQ to study in the province. I dont know if it is important for visa application but I'm just pointing that out for you. |

deveid: Assuming its valid till September 2020 and I go September 2020, it would expire at that September but the program is 2 years and which means it would have expired at the point of my end of program. How do I make that work considering you said it must be valid at the point of exit also. You don't need your visa to stay in canada. Visa is for entering and leaving canada. It's your study permit you should be worried about. You can enter canada with your Visa in august since you said it will expire in september. Enter Canada in august and get your study permit. You can also apply for visa while in Canada when it expires if you need to travel out and to canada. Hope this helps. |

MOE14: Hi everyone, I’m grateful for this platform. However I would be needing serious help. I’m looking to apply for an MSc in computer science or it’s related field course based . I want a really cheap school , that would encourage my parent to support. The thing is , I don’t know how to calculate the fees as I have come across some schools. If possible, also , get fundings that would help a whole lot I also would like to be guided on how to apply and what documents I would be needing etc. I know I’m not supposed to be spoon fed, but I honestly just need someone to guide me to avoid any mistake whatsoever . I would appreciate.
Thanks in advance. How cheap? |
