Its almost official: Were it not for that late minute eqaulizer Nigeria would have qualified as a second placed team. Honestly, Guinea didn't even need the draw to progress! Even with the lost they would have won the group! So far the pots are as follows: POT I: Equitoreal Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire POT II: Burkina Faso (TBC - awaiting CAF ruling), Senegal, Morocco (TBC), Tunisia POT III: Libya, Mali, Guinea, Zambia POT IV: Angola, Niger, Botswana, Sudan (TBC) Looks like Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire should be strong favourites to win. With Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa out, Senegal and Morocco are the only real competition. Zambia and Mali could be a dark horse, but I can't see them beating either Cote d'Ivoire or Ghana. If Burkina Faso and Morocco don't qualify than this is this easiest CAN ever to win, |
Worst thing is that had Nigeria not lost that injury time goal they would have gone through as second best team, Siasia should have not risked the win by taking of Joel Obi. |
At least we are in good company: Egypt, Cameroon, South Africa, |
For those interested: Uganda tie Sudan as the second placed team. If this stays the same than they will be playing to get the second spot. |
JaaizTech:No. Libya is through. Sudan still has to wait for results in other matches. At the moment Uganda is tied with Sudan (unless goals are scored) and there would be a rematch. |
Akainzo:Nope. They are right. Libya has 8 points, while Sudan has 7 points and a +1 GD. |
Interesting but Uganda and Sudan have the same nr of points, same GD, same nr of goal scored. Could be a rematch for them to qualify for 2012. AFRICASON: Libya has qualified as second best team, Sudan still has to wait. |
Nigeria are out. Libya and Sudan are already above Nigeria in the hunt for the two qualifying spots, so Nigeria is not going to Gabon and Equitoreal Guinea. |
And Nigeria crashes out, |
Koikoi:The points won with the last team in the table don't count. If the score remains the same Nigeria has 2 wins, 1 loss and a draw against Guinea and Ethiopia = 7 points and GD +4 |
Libya draw with Zambia to finish second in group. Since no other team is capable of finishing with 8pts Libya qualify as the best 2nd placed team. ONLY ONE SPACE UP FOR GRABS! |
Sudan loses to Ghana to finish second in group. They have 7pts and +1 GD. |
If the score remains the same Nigeria has 7 points and a +4 GD. They could still qualify from second place. They are still in for now (Libya has 8 pts, Nigeria is 2nd with 7 points and the best GD). And honestly it looks like no other country is likely to beat that GD and point total. |
5/10/2011 (Wednesday) Italian Calcio League B Nocerina - Juve Stabia 2:3 70' Jerry Uche Mbakogu (Juve Stabia) (1:3) Looks like a lot of lucky bounces there, but quite a goal dribbled into goal with a brilliant first touch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOGMdf3ZOnA (goal at 2:50). |
Good thing is that Guinea is fully aware that even if they lose they are almost 100% sure to qualify as a second best team (unless Madagascar beat Ethiopia in Addis Abeba). That should ease the pressure on Nigeria should they go ahead. |

I reported Brown ![]() 30/09/2011 (Friday) German Bundesliga 2nd Div. Alemannia Aachen - FSV Frankfurt 1:3 53' Macauley Chrisantus (FSV Frankfurt) (1:1) 69' Macauley Chrisantus (FSV Frankfurt) (1:2) 86' Macauley Chrisantus (FSV Frankfurt) (1:3) Classic hattrick + he scored with his left foot, right foot and his head. The first goal is nice, the other two are predatory goals. I believe this is Chrisantus's first career hattrick and hopefully its a sign that he is finally fulfilling his promise. That puts his tally up to 5 goals for the season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kK_n2bq7QM Malta Premier League Qormi F.C - Floriana 1:1 25' Charles Nwoke (Qormi F.C.) Don't know about Martins, but he didn't feature in the last game. 26/09/2011 (Monday) Romania Divizia A Pandurii - Astra Petrolul 1:2 3' Kehinde Fatai (Astra Petrolul) (0:1) Apparently the guy won best player in Romania. Plays as striker / AM / RW. Maybe worth a look? Nonetheless all the goals I have seen of his are predatory goals, not well worked ones. Here is Fatai's previous goal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtsUZhtT0DI Here is yesterdays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fManVfIWVo8 Swedish League Allsvenskan Gefle - Kalmar 1:1 29' Abiola Dauda (Kalmar) (0:1) His goal is at 0:55 (a real quality screamer), but its worth watching the the first minute of the highlights, as Dauda had some great moves before his goal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrYAQIhHEH0 |

No real good goals of note. |
No. We're writing about him simple because he's an attacking midfielder. And Nigeria lack any quality AMs at the moment. This guy looks like the best bet at the moment for a quality player. If he's good enough for Sweden he is good enough for Nigeria. |
The FIFA formula actualluy gives African teams less points for wins. If i.e. Germany beats England in a friendly, than Germany gets more points than Nigeria would. That's how messed up these rankings are. |
23/09/2011 (Friday) German Bundesliga 2nd Div. FSV Frankfurt - Eintr. God knows we need attacking midfielders! Siasia? He also won the penalty which resulted in the first goal (he missed the resuliting penalty shot, but that was converted by his teammate in the end) http://www.tv2.no/sport/fotball/tippeligaen/trondheims-stoerste-helt-john-chibuike-3592398.html Finland Ykkonen League Div. 1 PS Kemi - PK-35 3:0 13' Emenike Uchenna Mbachu (PS Kemi) (1:0) 55' Emenike Uchenna Mbachu (PS Kemi) (2:0) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzC_8dAEHzA |
